For all you Bill James enthusiasts…
Got this news release in my inbox today…will be interesting to look back at the end of 2010 and see how close the projects are…sorry that the formatting is probably off
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nov. 3, 2009
Bill James projects key Los Angeles Dodgers for 2010
Manny Ramirez slated to rebound
In the recently-released Bill James Handbook 2010, baseball guru Bill James projects the 2010 seasons for players on the Los Angeles Dodgers–and predicts a big comeback year for outfielder Manny Ramirez.
“In any season, the vast majority of players play in a manner that seems a natural extension of what they had done before,” James says in his new book. “When that happens, our projection should be reasonably accurate.”
With this in mind, here are five key Dodgers hitters for 2010, according to the new Bill James Handbook 2010:
Key Dodgers Hitters (by OPS)
Player At-bats R HR RBI SB Avg. OPS
Manny Ramirez 514 88 30 101 1 .296 .943
Matt Kemp 573 99 23 91 32 .311 .873
Andre Ethier 560 85 24 89 5 .288 .868
Russell Martin 533 80 12 71 13 .272 .768
Casey Blake 517 72 18 68 3 .257 .762
Projecting stats for pitchers is very different from projecting offensive stats for hitters. “We used to believe that pitching performance was much, much less predictable than batter performance,” James says. “This is probably still true…due to injuries and other factors. Sometimes a pitcher gets hurt, and when that happens our projections for him are knocked into a cocked hat.”
Here are three key Dodgers pitchers for 2010, according to the new Bill James Handbook 2010:
Key Dodgers Pitchers (by ERA)
Player IP W L K SV ERA
Jonathan Broxton 80 6 3 104 40 2.36
Clayton Kershaw 180 13 7 188 0 3.25
Chad Billingsley 185 12 8 177 0 3.65
The complete projections for the 2010 Los Angeles Dodgers can be found in the Bill James Handbook 2010.

Very interesring…..I would, however, give both Matt and Andre more homeruns…..they will both have stupendous years!
If Manny is really expected to put up the kind of numbers that James projects, there should be no question about some AL team wanting him as their DH in 2010, and, not only should we not have to pay any of his salary, but that team ought to give us one of their hotshot AAA pitching prospects. Either that, or, if Borass was to believe it, Manny will certainly opt out.
The other ridiculous projection is concerning Andre. Just why would you expect him to reverse his progress and come up with James’ numbers for 2010. Is James trying to convince the arbitrator on behalf of our management in order to keep him in the highly underpaid ranks. I think it would take a major injury to bring him down that way.
Ridiculous garbage.
right on, bear.

I’m not much of a believer in projections and predictions but it would be interesting to look back and see how they worked out.
OBF, I am with you. I wonder what Mr. James predicted for Andruw Jones prior to 2008.
If the Yankees hold on and win, please let me go tell Phan “Ha-Ha!”
HEY, YOU GUYS ARE 1/2 HOUR AHEAD OF ME! I’M ALWAYS STUCK IN A DAMN TIME WARP!!!!!!!
Manny Ramirez 514 at bats……..
.
Over……….Under???
Hey D4!! For who? LOL!!! I would say over. If he comes back with us, he will play everyday. And, if Borass gets him a sweeter DH American League Deal, he will definately go over. I’m just waiting to see what happens. If he comes back, OK, he will hopefully be totally healthy and playing for a future contract. If he leaves, I can live with it!!! Use the money to get Lackey!!!
Thanks for all the articles gang!! This McCourt thing looks like it will be very messy. The McCourts have turned out to be major con artists!!!!
Howdy Jhall…I was just saying we haven’t seen you in a while.
I think as a DH he definitely gets the bats, and it is over…I take the 5th otherwise, contract year or not. Just my opinion though.
.
1 and a half for over, and 1 pleads the 5th….
.
I support everyone on the squad as you have seen, however if Manny goes to the A.L., I think we can moveon just fine.
I’m pretty much with you D4!! I think we will be fine with or without Manny!! This McCourt thing could be a big setback.
Thanks D4, I’ve been laying low the past week. Still a little depressed we aren’t in the series. And all this divorce crap has me a bit worried!!!
I think the McCourt think is a setback already, I think he is leveraged with out the divorce proceedings, now he is really in a bind. There is not much we can do about it except, put our heads down and forge through it as my old boss would say.
We will prevail my friend!!!
Yeah….. Jhall everyone is worrying with you though. I would just as soon get these two clowns out of here, but I want the youngsters to be intact when they leave.
We always do right Nelly?????????
Hey Jhall and Dodger4life!!!!!
Amen D4!!! Got to keep the core intact.
Hi’Ya Mom!!!! How’ve ya’been?
Hi Nelly I had a feeling you were around….
Rivera vs Stairs 0/3 you still watching Broxton
Hey Jhall and Dodger4life!!!!! Looks like the Yankees just had a tad more than the Phillies.
I didn’t think my last comment went through. I am doing good jhall, and you?
Dodger4life – I am sure you did 🙂
The Yankees were just to strong on the mound, Pettite as a third was outstanding, and the other two held their own, against a very good offensive team in the Phillies.
.
Hi Dodger44life, Jhall and Nellyjune ~ this is a test to see where this post ends up. I’m stuck way up there….and you guys are down here! lol
C’est La Vie!!! I guess so Nelly!!! Sorry, but it just bunches my undershorts to watch the Yankees celebrate.
Please lertt me go tell Phan “Ha-Ha!”
*let
No more rings by former dodgers poor Park.
Doing well Nelly, thanks!!!
See getting Lee and trading prospects doens’t quranteer no championships. Damon is so lucky getting one in Boston and now NY
Jhall – Same here……………We already changed the channel. I was telling Dodgereric over the weekend it’s like I just wanted both teams to lose somehow.
Hi’Ya Trumom!! Glad you could make it. I’m not thrilled right now, but, as always, having you here makes it better.
See getting Lee and trading prospects doesn?t guarantee any championships. Damon is so lucky getting one in Boston and now NY
Well, the one good thing. The series is now over, it will be old news in a few days, and we now can look forward to next season. However, we have some serious marital issues getting in the way of a productive off-season, not that Ned and Frank have been too productive during the off season in the past either.
Damn I wish I didn’t care about spelling errors haha.
Hi, Jhall ~ I’m not really a Yankees fan but I despise the Phillies. So, to me it was the lesser of two evils prevailing.
LOL Tru!! Phan is taking a bad dose of what he was giving out last year. I think he represented himself and the Phillies very admirably this year and I would not hesitate to talk baseball with him.
Just a thought. You’re going to go thru a messy divorce that you must have seen coming. Why in the hell’ do you sign a freaking mediocre GM to a long term contract. Duhhh!!!
Jhall – perhaps just to pisss off us, the fans, Jhall.
Well Nelly, it worked!!! LOL!!!
It sure did Jhall!!!! LOL!!!!!
lol Rivera another 5 years damn
Well I hope everyone will not be strangers around here. The hot stove is just getting started. Regardless of the outcome, interacting with you all and forming friendships is much more important in the long run. I appreciate it and Thank You All!! I think we hooked Nelly in December or January talking hot stove stuff!!! I Love You All!!!!!!!!!
Hey jhall…can I have a sip of that stuff…JK..Right back at ya…
LOL D4!! Yep, sip the Blue ITD Kool-Aid my friend. It’s the best!!!
Jhall – Yep, definitely!!! Last hotstove season was great, and with all the drama that is sure to be around the Dodgers this off-season, it will be nothing short of a blast once again.
I guess now we wait for Manny’s decision.
Absolutely Nelly!!! We’ll be cookin’ all winter.
Hey Nell’, didn’t you get hooked in the Dec 2007, Jan 2008 hot stove?
It just dawned on me that even know his name is
enchantedsunset……lately he has coming on early in the morning…….Perhaps tequilasunrise is more fitting these days,
.
As Wendy’s used to say….. Wheres The Beev!!!!
Excelsior True Believers!!! We’ll be here all winter. Keep coming around and don’t forget to tip your waitors/waitresses!! Good Night All!!!
I sure did Jhall!!! I read mostly at the beginning. I would read the late night chats between you, enchanted, dodgereric, jungar and others. About February of 2008 is when I finally got the nerve to actually write my first comment, and the rest is history now. I still have to pinch myself every once in a while at all the things that have happened because of some of the wonderful people on ITD. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and it looks like the journey is far from over.
Submission Error hell :((((
‘I am guessing Beav is beginning his move out west, if he isn’t here already,
Good Night Jhall!!!! Take care my friend. It was great seeing/reading you on here once again. It is always, always a pleasure.
Good Night Jhall….I was jus baiting him a little Nelly….I nsuppose you are right. Either that or he is getting fitted for a new paperbag????
Dodger4life – that is very, very possible as well – LOL!!!!
Just a thought???
Well, it’s a good thought. Maybe he will pick up a new paperbag on his way out to California.
Maybe he can swing by Rodeo Drive and get one…..
Had to check in on the Phils blog. No, I didn’t blast them with “na-na-na” like a certain phan repeatedly did here. I did imply, however, that the Dodgers are the big autumn losers, thanks to the McCourts. And if anyone cares, that Yankee nut was giving phan all the grief we could want!
So Manny, you’re on the clock now. Ned….good luck…now how about a trade that actually makes sense. Prove to me you can do more than just dole out ungodly cash to fee agents. Frank and Jamie, there are flights to the East Coast every hour on the hour. I think I speak for all of ITD when I say we’ll gladly chip in for plane fare if you promise to NEVER, EVER come back. The stain you two have slopped on the Dodger franchise borders on criminal. Hell, it may even be beyond the border…
Dodgers? Padilla shot by instructor in Nicaragua
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=ApF6TMZbdTPmgOA01lQJiwsRvLYF?slug=ap-dodgers-padillashot&prov=ap&type=lgns
Looks like he will be fine. Just a strange occurence.
I hope Padilla is ok.
Kahli – I didn’t get a chance to read the Phillies blog the other day, but wow……………..tonight, it was very entertaining. The Phillies bloggers calling the Yankees bloggers trolls was pretty funny actually. I guess they have short term memory in how they treated us. BTW – great post yourself.
He will be okay. The bullet just grazed his leg.
I know this is getting way ahead of ourselves, but here goes…..Ethier will come back with another 30 plus HR season, but I do agree with James .288 projected avg, and I said predicted this back in April and was 4 home runs from being right, Matt Kemp would go 30/30 this year. OK, he does it next year. What is scary to me is that though Kemp may have had his best year this season productivity wise, I still think there’s a lot more potential left in him. Once he really learns , and I mean, really, learns to hit those sliders down and away, he will really be the complete , total package. Now, if we can just figure a way to beat Philly…..GO DODGERS….READY TO FINISH SOME UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN 2010 !!!!
How long ’til pitchers and catchers?
kahli, I’m callin you on your post on Zo’s blog. You are so full of crap. If you think anything I said here is remotely close to what that troll is saying in Zo’s blog, you really need to get a grip. Frankly, I don’t care what that moron says on our blog, but I do take exception that you suggest that I was anything like that here.
Geez, what a baby. Grow up.
I am happy for my gf’s mom, the Connecticut Yankee (fan). But here’s a Bronx cheer for our new World’s Champions.
The Chumps become Champs. The Champs become Chumps.
And now we’re left in the position where the most desireable news is whether or not Manny will pick up his option.
As for the other stuff… I’m already tired of this embarassment. I’m glad that Josh and the Dodgers’ web presence is wisely steering clear of the TMZ-ish dramaedy, and posting only baseball-pertinent stuff. I could harp on the teaba… I mean, carpetbaggers for hours on end, but I will be positive for today.
On to the hot stove season.
Well, the Dodgers let Garland walk ( I can’t blame them at $10 million), but I don’t want to see Estes, Milton, and a bunch of other has been pitchers at ST next Feb.
Here, phan, for all to see…let ITD be the judge as to whether I’m in outer space or not:
“tcd133 may be a hater, but he’s right about one thing: phan52 is the ultimate hater. He wrote the book. I can’t tell you how often he came onto the Dodger blog just to needle and dig and spew his classless, rude crap, especially during the NLCS, all under the guise that it’s “all in fun…can’t you take a joke,” ad nauseum. He even stole our moniker for him–the troll. So phan52, eat your crow, every last vile crumb. Karma sucks, huh?”

“kahli, you are so full of crap. I tried to engage you people about baseball. Maybe you should read what this moron tcd is writing and compare it to what I said. When did I ever disrespect the Dodgers like that? I don’t care what this clown says on our blog, but I do take exception to your suggestion that I’ve been anything close to that on your blog. Get a grip.”
By phan52 on November 5, 2009 1:23 PM
well, scott. that’s a heck of a trade for Ned…Tony Abreu for a one-month rental. Ned????
Kahli ~ you’ve got my vote!
Whatever, kahli. You ARE full of crap. Nothing I said here ever approached what that clown has posted in the ZoZone. If you think so, you are a sensitive baby. You need to get over it.
And as far as karma is concerned….how is two consecutive pennants and a WS championship bad karma? You don’t do this very well, do you? Good luck with the divorce, all. Now, THAT’s karma.
Kahli, On top of that, looks like we will need a 2B. Apparently, the Dodgers don’t like .285 hitting gold glove fielding second basemen so much that they didn’t use the one they had in the playoffs. I’m worried about this off season…I’m hoping Manny will be dumb enough to opt out.
I seriously think we could?ve had Lee/Martinez (to bad he stink at throwing runner out) this year. We should have just give the job to Dewitt forgets that he was struggling after his hot start.
I seriously think we could?ve had Lee/Martinez (to bad he stink at throwing runner out) this year. We should have just give the job to Dewitt forgets that he was struggling after his hot start.
Not that I would have kept Graland for the required $10 million, but letting him go is probably an indication that current management, whoever they are, will be unwilling to take on anybody at that kind of a price. As far as Abreu goes, I know it was a mistake to let him go, but I feel like Ned wanted to be rid of him at any cost. The whole deal with Abreu’s injury two years ago and how the front office screwed him over was a lingering embarrassement to Ned. What will be a bigger embarrassment is when Tony makes it big with the D’Backs. But what does Ned care – he’s got his contract extension. I still hope he’s out on his a** whenever the ownership situation resolves itself.
Damn freaking time warp that post with Martinez/Lee should’ve been 5 mins later after my other post.
phan, this will be my final thought to you. When I spoke of karma, I was referring not to the Phils, nor the Yankees, nor even the Dodgers. I was referring to YOU. You may not have dropped any f-bombs here, but I’m talking attitude, not grammar. Those Yankee bloggers, whoever they are with their schoolyard taunts, simply held up a mirror to you–and you sure as hell didn’t like the sorry image staring back.
I forgot where I read this at but they said if we still had Santana would he had been a part of the Lee package.
I seriously think we could had Lee this year. We should had just give the job to Dewitt forget that he was struggling after his hot start.
Here’s the article again that details our crappy farm system and refusal to pay ANYTHING to acquire top talent:

Wow. SOMEBODY woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning…
Wonder how that happened?
True sign of a troll: Can dish it out, but can’t take it.
Just like any number of 5 year olds playing cops and robbers in the “everybody wins” spirit of the child-worshiping new century.
“BANG! I shot you!”
“No, you can’t shoot me, I used bullet spray”
“Well, this gun can shoot through bullet spray”
“Oh yeah? Well, you’re walking on lava, the rocks are safe, everything else is lava…”
“That’s not fair!! MOMMY!!!!”
“DON’T LISTEN MOMMY! EVERYTHING HE SAYS IS A LIE!!!!”
Once again, a dedication to absent trolls:

As for the Champs, “Wait ’til next year…”
Hi everyone!
I’ve been reading but not posting. Had trouble posting today. i’ve been busy getting a few things done before I leave to N.H. for work Sunday morning.
.
I like Knouff, want to know How long ’til pitchers and catchers? A few days ago that guy Erskine from the L.A. Times said 99 days but I think is more. Don’t they report on Valentines day? If it is 2/14, then is 100 days more.
.
Emma
http://crzblue.mlblogs.com/
If they report on Valentine’s Day, Emma’s right, it’s 100 days. I was just talking about that day with my daughter last night. It’s her birthday, among other things, and to have the beginnings of a new Dodger season starting would be sweet. However, February 14th is a Sunday, so do they normally report on a Sunday?
northstateblues – I know far too well what you are talking about – LOL!!! Great post!!!!
Another lovely article about our favorite power couple…
http://www.dodgerdivorce.com/2009/11/how-mccourts-came-to-own-dodgers.html
Kahli, I’ll be proud to go to war at your side, just as soon as we find someone worth fighting. We all grew up with at least one kid like this one. It felt good to give them a beat-down, but we usually regretted it later when dad came home.
“Those Yankee bloggers … simply held up a mirror to you–and you sure as hell didn’t like the sorry image staring back.

Just about perfect.

As usual north, you’re quite eloquent. Hey, did you see one of the other associated videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdYxHbuUASQ&feature=fvw
He either has convenient memory lapses to rival most of our politicians, or is just pathetic, hapless, contemptible, miserable, pitiful, undignified, unfortunate, wretched ……. or both.
“Oooo, look! They’re talking about me!! Where’s my sock and the vaseline???”
Eeeyew. And that will be MY final thought on this sorry subject.
Emma, I found this site:
http://www.springtrainingonline.com/features/reporting-dates.htm
The only teams with reporting dates as of right now are the Rays (Feb 19) and the Brewers (Feb 21). Everyone else is TBA.
Well, I should have guessed you would have known, or at least you knew where to find it 🙂
Don’t you just love this quote from the site Eric found:
?People ask me what I do in the winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.?
?Rogers Hornsby
Thanks June! Thanks Eric! leave it to you to find that site!
.
Ok, here is another question. In one of my posts in my blog I was talking about the last time the Phillies and Yankees met. It was 1950 and that the only two homeruns in the series were by Joe Dimaggio and Yogi Berra. Has there been a W.S. with less Homeruns than that?
.
One of my co-workers was just asking me “Emma, what do you now that there is no baseball? i gave them that quote ibirkern, he just laughed.
Emma
http://crzblue.mlblogs.com/
lbirken – I watch other sports, but there is no other sport quite like baseball.
Nelly, I do too. Someone pointed out the other day that Sunday was a special unique day for sports broadcasting because there was a televised game from all the major pro sports (baseball, basketball, football and hockey) as well as a major auto race, a college football game and while it was not mentioned, I am sure there must have been a soccer game somewhere on the tube as well.
I agree that none are quite like baseball, sometimes for the reason some people think baseball is boring. Where else can you get all the spitting and scratching, and what other sport gets the fans to sing a song at a specific time during the contest?
Seriously, as much as I do like baseball, I believe the season is too long. I know nothing will be done about it and thank goodness the Dodgers have been in division races right to the end the past few seasons and in the playoffs. It is a good thing we all get a bit of a break for a few months because by the time spring training starts we can’t wait for the season to start all over again. Even fans need some time to regroup and recharge our batteries. This blog certainly helps. Josh, as soon as you have a date for when players report please put that clock up on the Dodger home page.
Just reading the posts from today I do have to say: Phan, if you want to delude yourself into thinking you came on here to strictly “talk baseball” that’s fine, but the rest of us who post on here know better.
“Those Yankee bloggers … simply held up a mirror to you–and you sure as hell didn’t like the sorry image staring back.

Almost Tru. Almost. Call me one in absentia.
Hey D4!!!
We have BIG plans for you on New Year’s Eve, Enchanted.
LMAO!!!!
Did I say I was moving to California? I meant Florida.
Go Marlins!!
E, watch out for land sharks.
How are you E…..Good to have ya around tonight…:-)
Hello gang!!! Good to see everyone still blogging. Lots of great posts. D4, I would much rather have Wolf than Padilla. I think we should have taken the option on Garland myself. Any thoughts? Trumom, I’m with you, I think our coaching staff needs to be shaken up.
Good evening all.
.
Just a quick hello to everybody.
.
I haven’t read the Phillies blog other than the other day when someone mentioned it.
.
& while I don’t like seeing people get dumped on I have to say that our “friend” from Philly now knows what it’s like to have others come in & “talk baseball”.
.
Making comments with backhanded swipes trying to initiate an argument isn’t talking baseball. So give me a break.
.
& kicking others when their team has lost is pathetic. All you have to say is scoreboard. But to have to say scoreboard and then rub it in with other comments is childish.
.
I said it before there is a way to act when you lose & a way to act when you win.
.
There is this sports talk guy here in on the Giants station named Damon Bruce. He usually takes calls in the evening often after Giants games. & while he is on the Giants station he is far from a homer and really calls it like it is. I really enjoy his show and he can be pretty funny but he is also spot on.
.
He has a saying that he ends his show with that is awesome.
.
“Sports don’t build character … they reveal it.” Which I’ve heard is actually a John Wooden quote.
.
That is one of the best sports quotes I’ve ever heard and for our Philly fan, you’ve been “revealed”!
.
Take care and sweet Blue dreams to all of you!!
I’m well D4!! How’s yourself?? I hear tell you been writing a few songs for your upcoming album, “Jamie Bought the Mine and Frank got the Shaft.”
Yeah birk. Hey maybe you and I can leverage our cars and buy the team.
Collie, hard to argue with a quote from John Wooden. And with that everyone have a great evening.
Thanks for sharing, Collie.
I see on our Homepage that Wolf, Belliard, Garland, Milton, Hudson and Doug have filed for free agency. Of course, usual, they are still waiting to hear from Manny.
Forgot Manny, Pierre and Kuroda too.
E, I think we might still be a few bucks short. My daughter has a fantasy of owning the Dodgers. Come to think of it, the McCourts have been living the same fantasy. Anyway, have a good evening everyone and forget about F) Phan. Too much wasted energy.
So……….. I’m thinking now would be a good time to put DeWitt at second…….And given the choice of Wolf or Padilla, I vote Wolf….I am sure he will be more costly but he had a very steady year, not an ace kind of year…even though there were flashes……Padilla will probably take less years, wont fetch the compensation upon leaving…….However I wonder if he can fill the void that Wolf being gone will produce???
And, on a sad note………..all of Joe’s coaches have been invited back.
.
Damn, submission error once again!
One a week till McCourts leave town Beav……..It is a lot like the Columbia Records 12 for a penny thing……………Except with this club you get one a week till Frank does’nt have a penny.
Dodger4life ~ Marijuana, okay…..caafffeine a no-no. Energy is not allowed!
I AM GETTING SO DAMN TIRED OF THESE TIME WARPS, SUBMISSION ERRORS AND SERVER ERRORS…..NOT FUN HAVING TO RESTART YOUR COMPUTER.
I dont have a car to leverage but I am willing to help Frank out………I will show up at one or all of Franks many Country Clubs and donate all the proceeds from the daily nassau towards any future litigation…….
Hey collie! Hope you’re doing well!!
OK birk, I’ll throw in my stamp collection as collateral too, but now they’re just playing hardball.
Honey and Bowa and Joe, OH SCHIDT!!
Let’s face it folks, we’re not going to sign anyone that is above a Milton or Loretta, that’s why Ned is back. We’re strictly bottom of the barrel roster fillers and rookies that really aren’t ready for the majors. That’s the legacy of Jamie and Frank.
My opinion, let’s get to the trading deadline and be sellers for a change and restock the farm. Trade Blake, Furcal, and Martin to a contending team and get a few prospects in return.
Wow!!! Lots of people in the ITD House tonight!!!
Giants ace Tim Lincecum has been cited for marijuana possession. Diamond Notes has some links.
I dont believe that is n the list of banned substances though????
on
Well, ain’t that something Dodger4life!! Wait until the family hears about that. There will be some excuse justifying it, but like you said, most likely not a banned substance.
Collie and lbirken – great posts and take care 🙂
It’s good to see you alive and well enchanted……………….well at least alive. We thought you might be dawning a new paperbag, but we are glad you are still enchanted.
There might be quite a few brownpaperbags before the end of next season Nells.
I knew there was something I liked about Lincecum. Padilla or Wolf? Hmmmmm…C) none of the above? A lot depends on Kuroda. He’s must have lots of miles left in his arm–he was disabled all year. But more to the point, I agree with most tonight. Barbie and Ken are in no position to offer any free agent any real money. Bill Shakin (who’s been following the story for the Times) said on the radio this afternoon to expect a back-of-the-rotation free agent pitcher…and that’s about it. It’s going to have to be the kids, and frankly, that’s how I prefer it. Maybe Ned can have an epiphany and dislodge Halladay somehow for a year without trading the farm. Then a year from now, when Halladay’s a free agent, new owner Hugh Hefner can retain his services long-term. And as far as coaches, why oh why Honeycutt?????????????????????????????????????
I’m just a little worried that when Paris Hilton sees all the TMZ publicity you can attain from owning the Dodgers……Well never mind……………….
.
Now those of you who have been around know my stance on the Lincecum issue…If you dont you tube Ben Harpers Burn one down and Bongo the night away….However if I’m causing no harm…….only applies if you are truly causing no harm. Lincecum is a public figure so what is he doing with that in public??? Albiet I was wondering if Bills could of gone the distance with a little 5th inning meditation……
I have no doubts about that enchanted. I am sure you have a few lined up in case the occasion presents itself.
I’m telling ya, let’s go with all the new kids and our core (sans Martin), and sell off all of the old dudes. This back-of-the-rotation BS is a waste of time and shows just how much ownership is really committed to winning. You either sign impact players or you go with what you’ve got. All they’re doing now is just being competitive enough to put some extra butts in the seats and that’s it.
In a not-so bold prediction, I’ll go so far as to say that looking at the team right now, Old Joe’s consecutive year playoff streak will come to an abrupt halt next season.
Jamie McCourt struck out on Thursday in her court bid for reinstatement as chief executive of the Los Angeles Dodgers, two weeks after she was fired by estranged husband and team owner Frank McCourt in their highly public divorce battle.
“This lady eats, lives and breathes the Dodgers,” Wasser (her lawyer) said. “It is the most important thing in her life besides her children.”
How can her lawyer say that without flat breaking down in a laughing fit and choking on his prime rib and lobster?
Apparently Ned wants a second baseman and bench improvement. Sounds promising…..I think not!
I read that too, Kahli. And, I almost choked on my ham & cheese, laughing!
I’d say she thought protocol was pretty important too.
Ned has two 2B he doesn’t care to resign. Its not like they’re growing on trees either. Translation: we’ll end up with a Loretta playing 2B.
…………….and that would be just great.
Play Blake DeWitt every day at 2B until mid June. If he isn’t the answer, go to Plan B. Granted, he’s not the quintessential second baseman (defensively), but Belliard wasn’t exactly a Gold Glove in the playoffs and Hudson got old…quick. Blake DeWitt is one of those grinders and he’ll hit. There’s a lot to like there.
And best of all to Barbie, Ken and Ned…………..DeWitt comes CHEAP!
I agree with that Kahli. I’m not a big Blake DeWitt fan – I see him more as trade bait – but we haven’t got anything better to where he doesn’t deserve a chance.
He does come cheap khali….. and right now he has the chance to join a strong group of youngsters. Hudson was magnificent at second, and provided some spark with the bat, but as Joe said ” He’s just beat up right now.” After that he just never recovered. Belliard brought some pop with the bat late in the season but man I don’t want to watch him on defense a whole season. Furcal seemed to have a decent year at short, although his offense was somewhat lacking. We all said he was the key in the post season and throughout the year as the lead off guy. I also think that Manny saying his legs just can’t take the pounding of playing left field is a good indicator of whats in store if he does. Blake may of had the hamstring and suffered some from it in the latter part of the season. He is still a cut above Loretta, and can fill a role, either way. I expect that if someone was on the trade market it would be Russell. there has been a lot of press coverage of Lucas May and Kenly Jansen ( off the top of my head. ) I do like Loney and his ability to give you a good at bat. that alone is worth it’s weight in gold in a pressure situation. He has the ability to get the big hit so…. I give him a little time.
.
Have we signed Andre and Matt to bigger and better deals yet?? Honeycutt doesn’t impress me……Albeit with some gut wrenching strength in the post season he could of pulled off some admiration. The bullpen was over the top most of the year and that was our strength. With what we had in spring training, we sure got our bang for our buck. If one or two of those guys drop off next season we are reaching.
Good Night and God Bless Everyone……………

Did I read that right Lincecum was cited for marijuana possession?
I guess that mean Bay won’t be a Red Sox since they have Hermida.
Shad ? No, I?m not watching, but I?ve been sick of that ?Beat LA? chant for a long time. I don?t really pay that much attention to the NBA, but do fans in other cities do the same ?Beat LA? chant for the Clippers? I would think not. But I could be wrong.

Nah I guess other fans don’t care about the Clippers.
Great news, Ned. Danys Baez and Mark Hendrickson are both free agents!!!!
