If the Dodgers think that Ethier has everyday star potential then they better start giving him a shot against lefthanders. He has shown at every level that he can be an everyday player

I completely agree. Although Cruz has been somewhat hot, it is in the Dodgers’ and Ethier’s best interest if he starts. However, I do like the move of letting Alomar finish the game yesterday, which allowed us to put Martin in the lineup today. That was a pretty good move Litlle. It shows that they are really going for the sweep.

Cruz is hitting almost 0.400 VS lefties, i think thats a good call. Ethier will probably get in the game for an AB or 2. WIth only 4 OFs he is going to get alot of PT.

Following A-Rods and Jorge’s blasts, it was carnival atmosphere.. Relief ascended into the dark, New York, night sky… Songs and chants of various types, echoed around the hallowed arena.. It was a magical, wonderful, awesome feeling. One like you haven’t felt, since receiving something precious as a child from a grandparent..

Today’s game is being televised on DirecTV digital channel 95. The game should look fantastic in HDTV!

I still like the speed at the top of the lineup… no matter where some think lofton should be in the lineup. He’s starting to make more consistent contact with the ball, and when he’s on the basepaths, there’s nobody better. Repko will be a good number one or number two hitter one day.

THE PONCHO RULES!! Let’s get number six today!

In response to jglass; Cruz has made two outstanding defensive plays the last two games and has an 1.169 ops in may.The rookies (ethier, guzman, etc.) would not have made those plays. He has more home runs than any dodger except kent in his career. He is a very important part of this seasons playoff ambitions and in addition his starts have produced a winning record.Like everyone else this has to translate to on-field production something that until this week has been lacking from the line-up.

Whatever happened to the guy that cursed the sky after Weaver was traded to the Angels?

    Jeff Weaver/Anaheim Angels

More Dodger games in HDTV please!! The picture is gorgeous… almost makes me feel like I’m there!

I wish DirecTV would allocate more digital channels for MLB coverage. Only two Ddogers games I’ve seen this year were in HD: Opening day on ESPN and this one…

The Dodgers need to give Derek Lowe defensive support; teams don’t take infield practice very much anymore, but that just might be the ticket when Derek Lowe starts. Consider that in 35 games played, Lowe has started in now 8 of them. There have been a total of 29 errors made already by the Dodgers, and 10 have been made with Lowe pitching, including one by Lowe himself. Derek Lowe has only had the fortune of one errorless game, although that doesn’t count the managerial error of inserting Lance Carter in the 9th inning.

tough way to lose today, esp when it looked like there was still some pixie dust left to keep the streak alive.

i know the season is still young, but i am just not sold on the furcal deal. his glove work is shakey at best, and while he gets on base, he is not the lead off man lofton is.

he might put up better offensive numbers than izturis over the next three years, but

his defense is surely going to cost some key games. look at adam everett of the astros with only one error this season.

and the defense in general is lacking, though its not from lack of infield practice, as no one takes infield/outfield in the majors any more.

also wondering about the perez move to the bullpen. something must really be wrong as it would seem natural to move seo to the pen where he pitched last year and keep sele and perez both in the rotation, esp givin perez’s mastery of the giants.

perez must be angry. should be angry and maybe this will help him pitch better. i wouldn’t wish any harm to his mother or family, but tracy managed the whole year

with his dad dying of cancer. clemens pitched in the world series the day his mother died…something tells me if he was 5-0 his mother wouldn’t be a factor.

I realize nobody does it, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t. They couldn’t execute a rundown, which is inexcusable at any professional level. Derek Lowe has fallen victim to a defense that implodes behind him – remember Jeff Kent booting the double play ball to open the season?

And if you would recall, the Dodgers only made 73 errors in 2004, compared to 106 in 2005 (remember Jose Valentin losing the ball in the chalk?). You can’t blame all of them on the seat colors either. As it stands, the Dodgers are on pace to commit 134 errors, and nobody becomes a champion by being sloppy.

According to CBS Sportsline, Izturis should be done with his rehab assignment in time to be with the big club while everyone at Dodger Stadium boos Adrian Beltre and his .225 BA.
