Now that's how you finish – Josh Rawitch

I’m posting this blog from the plane, awaiting our departure for Las Vegas. Today’s game couldn’t have ended any better, with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning by Sergio Garcia. Ned Colletti, who is standing next to me, just put it best: "What a great exclamation point to the spring."

While there are still a few days left before Opening Day, this spring has been a huge success and the Florida portion was pretty great. Eric Gagne pitched a scoreless inning while throwing on back-to-back days for the first time. Derek Lowe looked sharp in his final tuneup before Opening Day and now it’s off to Las Vegas.

When we land, we’ll make our way over to the Blue Man Group show and then tomorrow, we’ve got a night game against the Mariners. Brad Penny will get his last start before the real deal and a lot of our regulars should be in the lineup.

Scott Akasaki, our team travel manager, has also been very efficient at making sure every trip this spring ran smoothly. He’s actually right next to me, making sure that our contacts in Vegas know that we’re about to get up in the air, which means I should probably turn off my laptop.

Viva las Vegas.

It’s great to hear our beloved Dodgers ending on a high note. I also can’t wait to see Chad Billingsley pitch on Saturday night against the “Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim” See you at the ballpark.

    To ndeschenes:
You are pathetically obsessed with Jeff Weaver. Either let it go or move to Anaheim.

    Please shut up.

    To ndeschenes:
    There you go again!

What is it about “the rest of the Dodger fans are tired of your whining about Jeff Weaver” that you don’t understand?

Please show us the courtesy of not hammering us with your all caps post. We can hear you.

    We all liked Weaver too.

It’s just that he is not a god nor an ace. Even on the Angels he is not considered an ace.

Take Gregg’s advice and let it go.

    To Josh:
Can you tell us more about Tim Hamulack? Why he was kept over the others that were cut? I don’t know much about him other than he had a great ERA in AAA last year.

To Jeff Weaver, his dad, mom or more likely Scott Boras,

Stop whining on this blog behind an email address you got surfing the web. You are taking away the good memories the Dodger fans had of Jeff Weaver and bringing back all those games he pitched 6 innings and allowed 7 runs. Jeff was a great pitcher for us, on the days he pitched he forced the offense to hit. A 4.22 ERA is not something to throw money at. His 14-11 record was his first winning record of his career (he has played on 3 division winners). The fact is he was trying to hold up the Dodgers for what they gave to him a reprieve in his career. He was considered a wash-out with the Yankees and the Dodgers staff allowed him to begin anew then he brought a mask and a gun to his contract negociations. Have fun down the freeway Jeff, if you prove yourself there then maybe you can talk about the money you want.

    Josh,

Is there any way you can block ndeschenes@worldtradecustoms.com from posting on this blog? I think I speak for the better part of the posters on here when I say he’s ruining this blog for us.

    To ndeschenes:

you are a sad man. Hit that little button on your keyboard labeled “caps lock”. Its really annoying. Can you tell us your real name and where you’re sitting on Opening Day?

You claim to be a die hard Dodger fan…but you just talked down to our owner and GM…and you want our team to lose under them. If you were a real Dodger Blue fan, you would want us to win, regardless of who’s in charge.

Sounds like you’re a “Weaver Fan” and not a “Dodger Fan”. Not only have you disgraced the Dodger nation by you stupidity, you’ve disgraced the “Classy” Jeff Weaver by YOUR LACK OF CLASS (notice the proper use of caps lock). Congrats, you proved to all of us that you are no longer a fan…go to Anahiem you traitor.
