Rest in Peace, Tony Malinosky

We received word that former Brooklyn Dodgers infielder Tony Malinosky passed away last night in Oxnard. At age 101, he was the oldest living Major Leaguer. Malinosky appeared in 35 games with the Dodgers in 1937.

An Illinois native, Malinosky attended Whittier College and was a classmate of future President Richard Nixon. Malinosky served in the United States Army and saw combat at the Battle of the Bulge.

In 2009, Malinosky was honored at Dodger Stadium on the eve of his 100th birthday. Our thoughts and wishes are with those who knew him and we’re so glad that we were able to celebrate his life here so recently.

I hate to see the old timers go, even if it was only 35 games.
It’s hard to even begin to imagine what those men went through in the Ardennes. Thank You.
