Kuroda and closing in on sellouts…

Joe Torre just spoke to the media after spending the morning and afternoon at Camelback Ranch, watching Kuroda pitch a simulated game at Extended Spring Training. He said that Kuroda seemed to feel good and his command was suprisingly good. No word yet whether he’d get an NLCS start and he didn’t reveal a Game 1 starter or any of the roster. I’m sure that will all come tomorrow.

Very few tickets remain for the first two games of the NLCS, so if you’ve been waiting to get yours, I wouldn’t wait much longer. We released more yesterday but now’s the time to act.

Please come early on Thursday and Friday to try and avoid any traffic or parking issues. As you all know, when there are this many people in the stadium and this many cars, it gets really crowded. We’re opening up the stadium 2.5 hours before game time and you can come to Autograph Alley behind home plate and get your photo taken with the World Series trophy.

Game times have been set, as I’m sure you know. 5:07 for Game 1 and 1:07 for Game 2. Game 6 & 7 would both be at 5:07, if necessary.

More tomorrow after the workout…

Thanks, Josh. GO DODGERS!!!!!

In every episode of Seinfeld there is a Superman somewhere.

Made me laugh 🙂
GO DODGERS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Evening ITD readers and writers!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!! It’s been raining/pouring all…………………day…………….long. I love the rain, but not when I am stuck in the classroom with 24 first graders all…………….day……………….long, and it sounds like another day tomorrow. Anyhow, rainy day schedules aside, I am so anxious to get this series underway. I know it’s going to be a sit-on-the-edge-of-our-seats, nailbiting, amazing time just like last time, but with much different results. Our boys have pushed through so much this season…………..Manny being suspended, pitchers getting hurt, and 99% of the media not believing in them since day one. It is time to show the entire nation who the Dodgers are, and I have no doubts they will. This is our time…………………………… LOS ANGELES DODGERS TIME!!!!!

Nellyjune ~ it sure is time to show those doubters what we are really made of………….a great offense, a fantastic bullpen and of course, Heere’s Johnny!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows how many of these “Berra-isms” were actually said by Yogi? But one of my favorites (not mentioned on the previous thread) was, when asked if he wanted his pizza cut into 6 or 8 slices, he supposedly said, “Better make it only 6, I’m not that hungry.”

REVENGE!!! Now we’re cooking!

I am so glad you started a new thread! That was a long time (since Sunday)without hearing any news. Thank you so much Josh for giving us an update.
Is raining hard here in L.A. area but te weather report says partly cloudy for Thursday and sunny for Friday.
Is such a long wait between games and all I could see on the MLB TV channel is talk about the Yankees and Angels.

Tru – that doubtfulness the media has had all season is going to make the Dodgers push even harder during this season.

LOL!!!!! Dodgereric – alot of fun stuff on the thread to pass the time away.

Emma – It has not stopped raining all day here. One of our coastal cities up here got 18 inches of rain today. SF and Monterey all broke records in rainfall, and it’s not ending until tomorrow. I know Califronia needed rain, but I don’t think we needed all at the same time. However, it sounds like the games will go on as scheduled. The waiting is hard enough as it is…………………..no need for rain delays too.

They was batting .237 when we split them 4-4

This time we won the season 4-3 and held them to a batting average of .217.

lol the Yankess only hitting .225 in that 3 games series with the Twins.

Tim Brown LA in 6 The Phillies remain wobbly in the late innings and Manny is coming to life.
Jim Passan LA in 6 Dodgers relievers more than make up for starting pitching vacuum.
Gordon Edes Phi in 6 The Phillies make the Freeway Series a trip on the Jersey Turnpike.
Steve Henson Phi in 7 Late acquisition Cliff Lee wins Game 7 for the Phillies.

…”come to Autograph Alley behind home plate and get your photo taken with the World Series trophy. ”

Really? I mean, why? My family had our picture taken with the World Series trophy back in April, for obvious reasons.

Good Morning Dodger Faithful………………………..
BRING THE RING TO L.A. IN 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do you get from Colorado to LA?

Take Huston Street. Ba-da-boom.

Good Morning ITDland ~ only one more day until we kick some Fillies assss!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awe what the heck………Ya never get tired of hearing the victory song………………….
I LOVE L.A.!!!!!
BRING THE RING TO L.A. IN 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy your day everyone……..GO DODGERS!!!!!!

Scrape that gum off your shoe, tru!

:), Dodgereric!

Remember the World Baseball Classic, heck it was alright it even had a post season feel to it. However when it was over everyone said it wasn’t the National Past Time…They were right this is Americas game……. and it’s at it’s best right now. Thursday it will be in heart of Dodgerland, good ole Chavez Ravine……Home of the Boy’s in Blue……
Now we wouldn’t expect our service men and women to go out and protect our homeland any way but the winning way….I expect the same devotion, hard work and dedication….Through unselfish sacrifices, intense focus and the overwhelming willpower to win……On Our Field

Happy Birthday (99) John Wooden!!!!

This guy was playing pathfinder on The Price Is Right for a car and had the first 3 numbers right in one number wrong. He had to guess one of the 3 prizes to get another chance of picking the last number and got all 3 prizes wrong. The first prize he picked was the Price is Right videogame and that’s one seem easy. One choice was $30 and the other one was $45 and this one should?ve been easy and he picked $45 and got it wrong and got the next 2 wrong so he didn’t win any car. That’s the first time I ever seen someone missed all 3 prizes and got it wrong.

With the World Baseball Classic pushing MLB back a week this season, a potential Game 7 of the World Series would be played on November 7!! For the love of humanity and frost bite, here’s hoping we get a West Coast Freeway Series. Can you imagine Philly and NY? Not only do I despise both those clubs, but with rain and snow, Game 7 might be played AFTER Christmas!!!!!

HO, HO, HO, Kahli! lol

Dodger4life, I second the Happy Birthday wish!!!!!!!! John Wooden, may he live to be 199!

You beat me to it! I was coming here to say Happy 99th birthday Mr. John Wooden!!
It still raining here but for tomorrow the weather report is “Dodger Blue Skies, nothing but Dodger Blue Skies”
I never get tired of singing “I Love L.A.” We sang it at The Yardhouse in L.A. after game 3 in St Loui.
Well, off to a meeting for our annual Health fair tomorrow.

Will Joe pitch Kershaw in game 1 or Wolf? Will Hiroki Kuroda be ready to go? Enquiring minds need to know.

Seau should be retired and Happy Bday Wooden.

Well, things have evened up a little bit on ESPN. I think the Dodgers-Cards series had 9 voting for STL, 1 for LA. Now it’s 5-5, with nobody predicting a sweep.

Don’t think it’s likely to happen, but I’d give Kershaw the first game start and Wolf the second. If Kuroda passed his test in AZ, as Joe seemed to indicate, I’d activate him for the Phils and drop Garland. I’d also start Padilla in the third game in Phila. and would relegate both Billz and Kuroda to long relief rather than trust either one to start a game, unless one of the three starters absolutely blows it in one of their starts.

I foresee a roster addition: left-handed Elbert being added to the roster for another power left arm to come out of the bullpen….

I want Kuroda to start either the 2nd or 3rd games and I hope he ready.

I can’t believe someone made a Phillywood.

JOSH….I got my tickets for Friday’s game. Finally I get to make it to a Friday game and NO fireworks…but it is a playoff game and I’m sure there will be some kind of fireworks.
I can’t wait til we get the National League Series!
(well revenge is such a harsh word…well spanish saying about “Revenge is not good, it poisons your soul and kills it too” or something like that). So DODGERS just claim what those Phreaken Phillies took from last year… NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPS! Don’t let those Phuckers take it again….excuse my language but IT IS ON! (with a little head roll-snap)

Dodgers’ Kuroda could start Game 4 of NLCS

Crash – Some of us have more Ethieraholic in us than others, and I am not ashamed to admit that. It was a great article, and only if I could get my son to read an article about the Dodgers. He and Andre have the same temperment 🙂

Hmm interesting thoughts on starting pitching, I would not have kershaw or Bilz have their first game in Philly. I would probably have wolf and padilla, return to Philly for their first start. Although I can see pitching wolf and kershaw in the first two games. We really need to win games 1&2. Put kuroda or padilla vs Lee, if wolf starts in LA. If torre was going to use bilz vs. cards, then perhaps the drama of his return in the NLCS in Philly for our revenge would fit perfectly, but I have had enough drama this year already.
Other scenarios come to mind, including a 5 man staff, because I have faith and confidence in all 6 starters, but if Kuroda gets the nod, then I think garland or bilz gets dropped, weaver has been bred for the long relief role, hope it doesn’t happen, but we survived that already this post season.

Is it Thursday yet? Since it?s not, here are some timeless quotes from Casey Stengel:
1. Ability is the art of getting credit for all the home runs somebody else hits.
2. All right everyone, line up alphabetically according to your height.
3. Been in this game one-hundred years, but I see new ways to lose ’em I never knew existed before.

5. Don’t drink in the hotel bar, that’s where I do my drinking.
6. Finding good players is easy. Getting them to play as a team is another story.
7. Good pitching will always stop good hitting and vice-versa.
8. I came in here and a fella asked me to have a drink. I said I don’t drink. Then another fella said hear you and Joe DiMaggio aren’t speaking and I said I’ll take that drink.

12. I got players with bad watches – they can’t tell midnight from noon.
13. I was not successful as a ball player, as it was a game of skill.
14. I was such a dangerous hitter I even got intentional walks during batting practice.
15. If we’re going to win the pennant, we’ve got to start thinking we’re not as good as we think we are.
16. If you’re playing baseball and thinking about managing, you’re crazy. You’d be better off thinking about being an owner.
17. If you’re so smart, let’s see you get out of the Army.
18. It’s wonderful to meet so many friends that I didn’t used to like.
19. Managing is getting paid for home runs that someone else hits.

33. The Yankees don’t pay me to win every day, just two out of three.

35. There comes a time in every man’s life, and I’ve had plenty of them.
36. They say some of my stars drink whiskey, but I have found that ones who drink milkshakes don’t win many ball games.
37. They say Yogi Berra is funny. Well, he has a lovely wife and family, a beautiful home, money in the bank, and he plays golf with millionaires. What’s funny about that?
38. They told me my services were no longer desired because they wanted to put in a youth program as an advance way of keeping the club going. I’ll never make the mistake of being seventy again.

40. When you are younger you get blamed for crimes you never committed and when you’re older you begin to get credit for virtues you never possessed. It evens itself out.
41. Without losers, where would the winners be?
42. You got to get twenty-seven outs to win.
43. You gotta learn that if you don’t get it by midnight, chances are you ain’t gonna get it, and if you do, it ain’t worth it.

45. You have to go broke three times to learn how to make a living.
46. You have to have a catcher because if you don’t you’re likely to have a lot of passed balls.

Kershaw is the Game 1 starter – just got a text alert saying so 🙂
