Grady just insists on tinkering with the lineup and won’t let the hot hitters stay in it to maintain some consistency. Where’s Ethier? We’re already without Kent’s bat, why give up a .348 average to accomodate some player that doesn’t come close to that? I doubt that Ethier needs the rest so bad with the All-Star break coming up after the weekend.

yeah i guess i was wrong about the lefty. But he has started 8 straight games and thats a lot for a rookie ,and sometimes grady thinks like yall said about the weirdest lineups and whats weird is if he wants to score runs dont be putting cruz at 2nd.

Grady… sometimes I want to kiss you and other times like today, I want to punch you in the mouth. What’s with taking the “kid” Andre Ethier out of the lineup? He’s young and doesn’t need the rest that an older player requires. Putting one of the hottest bats down before the All-Star break is just idiotic, especially without Kent’s services as well. These are The GIANTS we’re trying to beat here! If we win, then I’ll take it all back, but D-Lowe needs run support and I just don’t see it with this lineup against a good lefty. We’ll see…

Also, sadly I’m constrained to subscribe to the notion that Eric Gagne will never pitch the way he used to ever again. The mad-man on the mound gave us everything his body could give for those magical two and half seasons. His body is now protesting that abuse. I hope he can return strong one day, but I don’t think he’ll ever be the same. I’ll miss “Game Over”… it was fun while it lasted.

Man! I must be comatose or something! I just noticed Martin is out of the lineup as well! What the heck gives Grady? These are young men swinging hot bats! The All-Star break is coming up! Holy flip, you’re killin’ me Grady…

Ethier should be in every game, bottom line. Imagine when Ledee and Repko return, big time logjam in the OF. Gagne will pitch again, just not in a Dodgers uni. With Kent fighting injuries all year, and Drew suddenly becoming a gap hitter, Nomar leads us with 11 homers in what, about 65 games?? We could use another decent hitter, to go with a SP.

You guys are pretty judgmental even before a game starts – save the judgements for afterwards! 😉 Ethier needs a rest, clearly. Although with Lofton obviously hurting I would prefer Kemp and Ethier to having Cruz in there for one of them vs. a lefty. As for Martin, before last night, he really looked like he was pressing at the plate. You add to that that he’s not had a break in a long while and that last night’s game was clearly exhausting, and the fact that he’s getting a rest today makes total sense to me. Catching is the most tiring of positions, too. Not having Kent in there again definitely hurts, I suppose that’s Grady Little’s fault, too, though. Sheesh.

Rest your team when you have good opportunities, like say a series against the Pirates, or the D-backs, not against The Hated Ones. Let’s put our best team up against these guys!!!!!

…The good guys just gotta start pumping out some wins…and this is for MLB TV…could you please either pump some music between innings or leave a roving camera on…that silent blue screen simply just wont do..

Grady needed to ride Ethier right up to the All Star break. REST?? Ethier played 2 15 day stretches in the Texas AA league last year. He can rest Sunday evening on the flight back to Phoenix. There is no logjam in the outfield, Ledee and either Cruz or Repko can be packaged for some bullpen help. Kent is a gamer but he is struggling with the nagging injury bug. Opening day infield in 07: Aaybar 3b Furcal SS Izturis 2B and Nomar 1B.

iglass. Think Kent is signed through 2007. If your lineup should be correct, Loney will be traded. He is having a wonderful saeson at AAA. LaRoche is hitting well at AAA again and seems to be the heir apparent at 3B. Nomar will no depend on cost of signing. I expect Furcal and Izturis will not both be on the team in 2007. I also regret we probably will not see Eric Gagne in a Dodger uniform again. Coming on a complicated medical season with high end contract will no doubt finish his time as a Dodger.

Way to spit the bit VS a 23 yeas old who cant throw strikes Lowe- this team needs pitching!!!! I cant remember the last time we won a game 3-1 or something like that…. Very clear that as is we dont have the arms to make a real run. Imagine- leading the league in hitting, runs, almost everything but home runds, and were in 4th place the fairly weak NL west, WOW. Thats poor.

7 Points – extra point good

    1) Forget Odalis Perez (really). Forget Danys Baez (consider it a consolation for today’s game). Jose Cruz Jr should be released. He can’t hit right-handers. All he can do now is hit lefties, and if he can’t do that, then he’s taking up lineup space.

    2) Andre Ethier can hit left-handers. If one must play the percentages, shouldn’t one actually look at the numbers? Did Jim Tracy leave some bottles in his old office, and if so, has Grady been drinking out of them?

    3) Pedro Astacio pitched for the Nationals today, and gave up three home runs. Derek Lowe got shelled. Eric Gagne underwent surgery. Pedro Martinez is on the DL. Bad news for Dodgers pitchers past and present, except for this: Odalis Perez retired 4 guys in order.

    4) Went to the Nats-Padres game, and I must say that Trevor Hoffman does not look like a closer. The guy walks people, throws in the 80s, and is lucky not to blow up in the 9th. He gave up a line drive that went right to a guy, and the shortstop made a nice play to snag a liner to end the game. Has this guy made a career on being a leprechaun?

    5) I don’t want Eric Gagne to go. For some reason I find myself comparing him in my head to Bernie Williams, who the Yankees kept around to be a DH for the year. Williams, of course, has become an everyday outfielder again and has helped keep the Yankees afloat after losing $26 million of outfielder in Sheffield and Matsui.

    6) Jason Schmidt is a beatable all-star. The Dodgers have beaten him before, and Aaron Sele would have a win against the Giants were it not for Danys Baez.

    7) If the Dodgers defense can turn out good performances, that can very easily make the second half.

Gange was pure gold when he was with the tear and did his Magic . He finally got his contract and is just an Icon i’ll miss him but this team doesn’t really need 2 Closers ans Saito is solid as any current closer in the MLB.I Told all who wanted to trade Izzy that they were wrong and… you were… Now i’m gonna tell the same Jokers that REPKO is Da Man.Barring any really bad setback He is The Kid at Center for this Team Hits for avg with power and speed and makes all the plays over Loftons head.Thats One Jason we need to keep on this team! Trade in order Cruz Ledee Lofton as far as OF goes.Lofton can be the guy that Cruz and ledee aren’t.Look at finley he looked great today except for his uniform ……And I’m gonna Join the What were you thinking Grady bandwagon??? Down by 1 going into the 9th bring on saito! He is our Closer and has filled the spot Give our hitters the chance to get a run or 2 in the 9th…. In a close game stay off pitchers with the name of B in the first letter…Send Billingsly back he needs more work and get a Real Starter Coletti.Perez Looks like he is ready to pitch again and i know he Knows full well what will happen to him if he dosen’t… a 1st place team will buy his contract….
Was that a stupid move or what? Weaver cancer to StL?They obviously have never looked at him under pressure. At this point I’d trade Nomar For a Kickass starting Pitcher Move loney up becase Nomars contract will be a Bigtime deal on the offseason.I’d rather trade drew perez cruz and ledee but we need an agressive trade for a pitcher of record.Bottomline we keep all of our ROOKIE CANBEs we are still weak in pitching we have little in respect to ready or near ready pitchers. Might have one of the best farms going but pitching is Very Young and not very strong.Repko Either and Kemp 2007 outfield.Loney Aybar/Kent Izzy/Furcal Izzy/Laroche Infield Martin Catcher Penny Lowe and who to pitch?Hate to break it down like that but who are our Real prospects who can produce?

I have written on the Odalis issue before, so here is some more. If we’re going to keep this $9 million obligation on the team, and we may have to simply because nobody will give up anything of value for him in his present state, do we just leave him idle except for a couple of innings every other week? Is anybody, like Honeycutt, working with him to try and get him back on the track? He’s at least now given a couple of innings where he wasn’t bombed. Is it not worth to see what he can do again with a start? That wouldn’t necessarily have to make him a keeper for the Dodgers, but a couple of half-way decent starts, which we don’t see often from anybody, could make him of some value in the trading market. This seems just another case of the management and coaching simply letting things slide. As I’m going to repeat again and again – GET RID OF Honeycutt.
