Inside the Dodgers Tour
For those interested in a group tour for the Inside the Dodgers crew, please let us know if you have a preference on any of the following dates and how many people you think would make it out, as well as if you’d also want to purchase a ticket to the game that day.
Options right now include Aug. 7, Aug. 21 or Sept. 4…
Yikes!
I see Billz is working his magic tonight!
Looks to me this team needs 4-5 starters not just 1 or 2, plus a 2B, a 3B, and a catcher. No offense to the diehards, but pull the plug on the season now, jettison dead weight vets for a prospect or two, and pray McJerk is forced to sell the team.
And get rid of Manny worthless carcass to the glue factory.
Amen Beav!!!! How hard is it to replace a .250 hitting catcher on pace for 35 rbi’s. Geez!!!! What a waste!!! Funny thing is, Martin will be looking for a raise in arbitration.
Hmm any of those three dates works for me. However, I think the 4th might be my date of choice. I may have previous engagements on the other two. How does this work? How much will it cost?
Linda

I’m very tired of the Martin and Manny act. We could do just as well with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. At least it would be funny!!!!!
LOL P*ssed!!! Sherrill s*cks!!! Geez!!!
And, yet, Joe keeps puting his sorry asss out there!!!!
Except for Raffy, Andre and James, this whole team sucks right now!!!
I’d leave his selfish a** in for the rest of the game. You don’t want to go to the minors to work out your ineptness, well, here ya go Scooter!!!! Work it out now and save my viable bullpen people!!!!
Did I just see Sherrill giving up a hit to a guy batting .41 and that was 1st hit at home and now 1/12 not to mention the 3/23 either?
Martin should be batting 2nd not Kemp.
This is looking like April again.
Martin should be in Cleveland or Toronto!!!! Not hard to see some interesting injuring sending Sherrill to the DL is it Beav?!!!!
Where the heck is Weaver at?
We have potentisl Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger Right Fielder, a Gold Glove and an RBI machine first baseman, and a fantastic short stop. Other than that, every one else is questionable at this point.
and Carroll and Johnson.
I’m OK with Andre, Ferk, Loney, Brox, Kuo, Carroll, Kemp, and Kershaw. The rest are very expendable!!! And, quite frankly, Martin, Manny, Sherrill, and Billz can pound sand!!!!!!
I’m OK with Paul and Johnson also. Too bad Carroll doesn’t catch!!!!!
I am very happy with Carroll, Brox, Kuo and Kershaw as well 🙂
……and Johnson too. I forgot about that poor guy! Xavier gets my vote as well. He just needs his playing time 🙂
Hi’Ya Nelly!!! Weaver is doing a good job as well. I’d be considering starting him. Ely needs work but could pan out!!!
If anything fun comes your way for early October gang, I would jump on it. I think your schedule will be clear!!!!!
Sad, but true, Jhall!
.
I’VE BEEN IN SUBMISSION ERROR HELL FOR THE PAST 35 MINUTES. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS CAN’T BE FIXED. THIS BLOG IS BECOMING AS PATHTIC AS OUR OWNERSHIP!!!
.
I’m rapidly becoming pisssedoffbear#2!!!!!!
Hi’Ya Trumom!! Hey MLB, fix this blog. Get a freaking server that can handle it!!! As for the team, get a freaking owner and GM that have two brain cells to rub together. And, a pair of balls. Our ownership is brainless and nutless!!! I’m not buying that their broke. Just spending the money in the wrong place.
Hi Jhall!!!! How’s Ohio these days?
Right on, Jhall!!!!
To make my day even better….now batting G.A.!
Well said Jhall!!!!
OMG…..A FREAKIN’ HIT….I MAY FAINT!!!!!
Not a shocking there.
I guess he heard my little rant in the other thread calling him Belliard lol.
We’re still here Nelly. Enjoying the summer weather. How about where your at in California!!!
Rats!!!®
Sunshine ~ welcome to ITD…..this is actually a chat room (we talk about the Dodgers here). The tour is something we worked on, and accomplished last year and wanted to do it again. As soon as Josh finds out how many are going and the date is decided, he ill post all of the information.
Dang if we would’ve had tied that up who’s would had caught? Let’s Ellis hit geez and why is Belliard PH? Belliard is now I think 0/15 and when was the last time Belliard had a PH hit? I want Hoffman now and calls up another middle infielders Belliard is slumping bad. Bengie Molina getting a triple for the cycle and since they have Posey now. Look like Trayon Robinson was pulled after 3 innings so I wonder if he gets the next calls up if Manny goes back on the DL? I want Hoffmann up but to bad we don’t have Mitch Jones in our organization again.
I know we have a good left handed middle relievers that’s better than Sherrill.
N/M look like Belliard PH for Link and Ellis came in the double switch with him so yahoo is mess up and it’s forgot that Loney scored with Furcal walk with the bases loaded.
lol maybe the Dodgers should consider opening a chat room or message board … what do you think ITD? Out of forty comments, I see one related to the topic posted. How much longer before Sherrill can clear waivers? Is the 72 hours up yet?
And how much is the tour?
I think maybe the Dodgers should try fielding a major league team with major league talent.
You’re right Beav!!! Ain’t happening with sub minor league ownership and GM!!! The fish stinks from the head down!!! Goodnight gang, have a great night and I’ll catch you in 4th place!!!!! No excelsior for us until Frank sells the team!!!
Josh, as far as ITD tour, put me down as one vote for Aug. 21. As far as the game, it was never a game, never is in Busch. I still love Manny but he’s become Fred Sanford out there. He needs to DH…right now…for everyone’s sake, even with his “tight” calf. I’d hate to think Manny’s being Manny right at the trade deadline. He doesn’t want to play in the field anymore.
Memo to Ned: This season is really starting to get sluggish, thanks to your pitching staff. Please don’t make any stupid trades, like this team is “one move away” or something. We fans know Frank doesn’t give a rat’s a**, so we’re not really blaming you…well, not a lot, anyway…and we wonder if 2010 has been left to dangle in the wind. So…trade NO ONE young, but move some aging parts if you have the brilliance.
The kids (kersh and Bils) are inconsistent, let the more mature pitchers lead the way. Heres to Kuroda getting back on track today. When the kids pitch vs the giants everything will be alright.
We lost two games to a very good team, and we looked pretty anemic doing it too, I agree, but knocking off the NL west is the priority, I sort wish our # 5 pitched Sundays game to leave Padiila for the Giants, but Hey I am not JT.
Does the ITD tour include “chat with Frank” time?
To be honest, I don’t have a very good feeling about the season right now, but it’s too early to give up on it right now. We’ve seen these things turn around before, even during this season. It’s hard to say how much of a problem on the field the ownership is causing, but it can hardly help. We have several veterans severely under performing it looks like we could do without. Everybody knows we need pitching in a big way. Still too early to pack it in and start unloading any real talent, though. We’ve seen it. These guys are better than this.
p.o.’dbear
I’d prefer to see what this core group could accomplish for a bit longer. Your philosophy is very interesting, though. If you go that route, I’d add Kemp to that list.
Any date works for me, the earlier the better. Probably would not be able to do the game due to school on Saturdays.
“Gilbert knows a whole lot of people, big hitters in the money world, and if the Dodgers’ franchise needs rescuing — and in the sport right now, the team’s ownership troubles are regarded as a cover-your-eyes embarrassment — Gilbert will have the financial wherewithal to restore the club to its past greatness.”
I’m all for it. I think the team’s ownership troubles are more of a legs-wide-open embarrassment!!!! Thanks P*ssedBear!!!!
Sounds great to me, PObear!
Tough couple of games since the break ? C?MON my Boys in Blue!!! Let?s take the next 2 games and split the series!!!
*** Josh *** Thanks for the note on the tour! Any of those days would work for me. For the August 7 or August 21 dates, it?d probably be just 2 people. For September 4, it might be 3; not sure
Guess even the Bay Area has tired of watching the Dodgers lose on National Broadcasts, both my NorCal FOXes have the TB-NY game. It’ll be nice to listen to the radio without having to worry about Buck and McCarver prattle on about nonsense having nothing to do with the game.
For those who do get the game (and probably a Eric Karros – Dick Stockton broadcasting team), I’m curious what inning it’ll be before they replay Matt Holliday’s epic… um… nutcracker from last year’s playoffs. If it was Buck and McCarver, I’d bet they’d be getting the telestrator out and adding sound effects. Maybe even Scooter the Talking Baseball.
And remember, folks, the “ANYBODY but the current ownership” mantra from seven years ago rewarded us with the brain trust we have running the team today. Dennis Gilbert sounds like a good candidate, though, but if Rupert Murdoch taught us anything, it’s that 1.) Money isn’t everything (but it sure can help), and 2.) A drive to win is a good start, as long as you’re trying to win championships, and not just games against the Braves.
[3.) Behind every good owner is a potential Georgia (or George) Frontierre. I wonder if the Jamie plan had draft-ups of Boston Dodgers jerseys.]

Time Warped!!!! Geez!!!
Great start by Kuroda to strikeout the side after the lead off double. We’re definitely going to need a strong pitching performance from Kuroda today.
Dodgers Acquire Mike Mussina at Trade Deadline
Oh wait, sorry, false alarm. That’s just Colletti’s dreaming.
LOL North!!! I’ll bet Tomko is in Ned’s speed dial!!!!
Hell, I’m for Melissa Gilbert or Gilbert Grape if it’ll get Frank out of L.A..
Colletti in Heated Talks With Ken Griffey
Sr.
LOL, North!!!
My man Ned must be happy about this McCourt debacle. Takes the heat off him and his ineptness!!! Don’t forget the fact that he doesn’t have a clue. He is running under the radar right now courtesy of the Frank and F*ck ownership!!!!!
And we have Jeff Kent to thank. You know, the guy who had our clubhouse so divided, we went on a tear after he left that didn’t end until the NLCS.
Sometimes the truth can be much worse than what we can imagine.
oldbrooklynfan ~ They are going to need all the luck you can bring them against the hated Cardinals.
Hi ya everybody.
Kind of dead at the feast at this time of the day so I decided to check in on the Dodgers.
I hope I can give them some luck as I can see they sure can use some.
GO DODGERS!!!!!!
oh wow weaver is almost forgotten in that bullpen
We haven’t seen Weaver since that 3 1/3 innings vs the Dback glad he still around.
oldbrooklynfan ~ They are going to need all the luck you can bring them against the hated Cardinals.
Weaver hasn’t pitch in 11 days such crap considers Belisario is on the restricted list.
Did I ever tell you Truebluewill, that I hate the Cardinals especially in St. Louis.
I think so! lol
That’s all we need. Loney could be injured.
Calls up John Lindsey now
Well.
We like 4-20 in St Louis is just something we can’t seem to win here but we still leading the all times series 998-997.
Well, I see another magical effort by the boys today.
Shoot this nag and send it to the glue factory.
When Kuroda pitch bad we lost when Kuroda pitch well we still lose lol. If Kuroda would had pitch well in those bad games we would’ve won.
They just said on Dodger Talk that Loney is ok, it’s just a cramp. He should start tomorrow.
That’s great news, TBW!
Glad to know James will be alright. As far as this series, there isn’t much to cheer about other than being glad when tomorrow’s game is over. At least they will be out of St. Louis and on a flight back home to LA to face the Giants……………..the 2nd place Giants no less – uuugghhhh!!!
Good evening ITD boys and girls!
Wow, that loss was EXTREMELY TOUGH. Our Boys in Blue did reasonably well in the first half of the season. I didn?t think they would look as bad as they have, 3 games into the 2nd half. First of all, I hope that we get the Padilla of the last few outings after he came back after the DL and not the Padilla from before the DL. But it?s too the point that I don?t care what the Padres or the Rockies or the Giants do at this point. The Dodgers have their own problems that need to be fixed before they can worry about how the other NL West teams play. And as much as a problem as our pitching has been, and continues to be, I am getting REALLY frustrated that next to no one (except for Loney) is driving in runs on a semi-regular basis. And it?s not like we haven?t been hitting; we?ve just haven?t found that TIMELY hit. I?m not going to suppose that getting this pitcher or that pitcher or that position player will help us; I?ll chime in my feelings if/when something happens. But knowing Ned?s track record, I don?t see many (if any) of Ned?s acquisitions doing much to keep this girl hopeful for 2010. But getting new ownership would be a great first move
And I?m glad that James? is okay?
Well, the Giants got the bat they were looking for in their own club by bringing up Posey. He hit two homeruns today and his has 8 on the season after only being on the roster for a short while. Like we have been saying for the last two/three years, we should have been cultivating our farm system instead of buying players we didn’t really need. But, Frank doesn’t think baseball. He just thinks bottom line and how he will profit from it now. I mean really, look at the Padres. Everyone keeps saying “they can’t keep this up, they can’t keep this up”, but they have, and there really is no sign of them slowing down yet. And honestly, other than Adrian Gonzales, they have no big names and they have a fairly no-name pitching staff. However, look at them they are beating teams in all divisions.
I am no way saying I am giving up, but I just see the other teams in the division getting better or at least not showing signs of letting up, and we just seem to be faltering a bit lately. However, this series it is not just faltering. It feels more like a wiping out.
red pen twice (at least – lol) – “he has 8” not “his has 8” and “feels more like wiping out” not “feels more like a wiping out”
It’s amazing how we went from 2nd place and 2 games out to 4th place and 4.5 games in a very short period of time. Let’s hope we can turn it around just as fast by winning tomorrow and possibly sweeping the Giants again.
CP – I (we) are doing great! No complaints other than the heat. However, my son’s travel team is playing a baseball tournament in Arizona the end of the month in Peoria (The Padres/Mariners Spring Training Camp). So, we are thinking this is just practice for that week. It was 114 degrees there today :))
CP – I got time-warped ahead of you 😦
Kahli – that would be a dream come true if we woke up and read that article with our morning breakfast.
My Nellygirl!
Of course. No way am I giving up; far from it. And I?ve said this before, as have MANY on ITD have said this before. I?m just tired of seeing my Boys not play up to the level that I KNOW they all can. It is frustrating to see our divisional foes getting better; sans, the D-Backs. I know that they won?t continue to play like this for the rest of the year. It?s just frustrating to watch. We?re in the middle of watching games from other teams (trying to entice us to buy the rest of the year?s MLB package). I listened to the end of the Padres? game last night and saw parts of their game tonight. Just difficult to watch?
So how are you this fine evening?
Ladies and Gentlemen…your FOURTH PLACE Los Angeles Dodgers! Oh come on, now, give ’em a hand. There, that’s it. Proof positive that ownership diarrhea has not soiled the ball club. And can we ever be thankful for that. For a minute I thought Frank had gone cheap on us. Torre should slug him for this mess.
“He (Kemp) wants to learn,” Garret Anderson said. “He’ll take constructive criticism from teammates. He asks me things. This is a person that wants to learn.
“He’ll figure it out. He’s a talented player. He’s a smart player. He’s 25. His rope should be a little longer. He’s still learning the game.”
Kemp has played in every game this season. Since the start of the 2008 season, the Dodgers have played 415 games, with Kemp playing all but 10.
“To me, when you see a guy go out on the field and play every day, it’s hard to say he doesn’t care,” Anderson said. “The guys who look for ways to get out of the lineup, those are the guys who don’t care.
“He takes it out on the field every day. That goes a long way in my book.”
Oh, Kahli. Now that you put it it THOSE terms, just knowing that we?re in the position just above the Snakes and just below the Gnats makes me sick to my stomach?
I?m starting to get tired. Nelly, I know I have a question out there for you. Just post your answer and I?ll read it tomorrow. Sorry, don?t like leaving ?hanging? questions, but I?m getting very tired very fast lately. Goodnight Nelly & Kahli. Oh, and Kahli, let?s see how long it takes me to fall asleep with your words , ?FOURTH PLACE Los Angeles Dodgers? stuck in my head?
The headline and story we want to read…
DODGERS SOLD
LOS ANGELES?Dodger owner, Frank McCourt, sold the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball franchise today, citing financial and emotional bankruptcy. The buyer has not yet been disclosed, but sources say Mr. McCourt may have profited as much as $100 million from his original purchase price of $430 million. With the McCourt’s divorce extravaganza scheduled to play out in court, the Dodgers get back to being a Major League ball club, and Frank and Jamie get back to being invisible.
What I’d like to know is why the L.A. Times keeps trying to ride Kemp out of town. He’s one of the only 3-4 decent players this team has. Why don’t they try riding Manny or Martin out of town? Neither one is worth a crap and we’d be better off without them. Kemp snub a Times reporter or something?
Good afternoon all…………..
.
Lets Go Dodgers , Lets Go!!!
.
Good thinking Matty
RALLY TIME!!!!
This is my opinion of the Dodger offense the last two games. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz………………………….
Alright Belli!! Finally a hit!
Note to Josh……..
.
Rick Monday is so much better, by himself……
It good to see Beliiard finally getting a hit to start the rally. Come on Furcal.
Damn I wish Furcal did one of his surprise bunt there lol.
That’s a start…………..
.
GO DODGERS GO!!
More crappy 4/29 with risp. I’m shocked Furcal didn’t try to bunt and get that 2nd runs in.
Noe to Josh ~ I agree with Dodger4life…..Rick Monday is great….Charlie is a pain in the butt!
I love when Padilla throw that soap bubble.
Red pen *note to Josh
Happy bday to me and Torre but today is alot of bday around the mlb world Hunter and Sheets.
Padilla does it with the bat too.
Great inning by Padilla after we score. That’s what I like to see.
Padilla made us sweat there. Walking the bases loaded and then Holiday swings at the first pitch to fly out.
Is Belliard finally getting it now.
Oh come on give Ellis another hit.
Holy crap GA is clutch
That hit’ll keep Anderson on the roster for another month.
Sorry to those that like DeWitt, be he needs to be gone like a few others.
Indians? Peralta gets odd inside-the-park homer
2 hours, 24 minutes ago
Email Print CLEVELAND (AP)?Jhonny Peralta(notes) got a rare inside-the-park home run for the Cleveland Indians when Detroit Tigers center fielder Ryan Raburn(notes) crashed through a bullpen door trying to make a catch.
Peralta scored after Raburn crashed through the fence.
(Amy Sancetta/AP)
With runners on first and second and two outs in the first inning Sunday, Peralta hit a 1-1 pitch from Andy Oliver(notes) towards the Cleveland bullpen. Raburn leaped into, and tumbled through the door. The ball caromed off the wall and left fielder Brennan Boesch(notes) raced over to retrieve it as Peralta, one of the slowest players on Cleveland?s roster, chugged around the bases.
Peralta slid in ahead of the relay throw by shortstop Danny Worth(notes) with Cleveland?s first inside-the-park homer since Grady Sizemore(notes) did it against Baltimore on April 27, 2007. It was the eighth such homer at Progressive Field, which opened in 1994.
Peralta had missed the previous three games due to a fever that had caused him to miss an off-day practice on Thursday.
Raburn had a chance at a similar play in the second inning, and this time he leaped against the wall 10 feet to the left of the door to catch a drive hit by Jason Donald
I like this kind of homeruns lol
HOLY CRAP…..HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!!!!
Broxton, you are definitely a head case…..can you get Albert?
TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!!
There’s very little left to like, and a whole lot to dislike about this team.
Come on Broxton let’s make this quick.
Two intentional walks in one game Andre. You have definitely made it to the big time!
BTW – with the exception of Brox and Kuo (and Weaver wherever he may be) our bullpen just sucks!!! I will give Brox a break on this one seeing how he shouldn’t have had to come in the game this early.
Gosh damn this Molina is killing us.
Get the shirt biter out!
Hello ITD!
.
Happy birthday to Sellthetm and Torre!
.
**JOSH**
Any date works for me since I am always at the stadium. I get two tour vouchers with my two season tickets so I would only use one tour voucher.
.
C’mon Brox! Let’s wrap up this game!
.
Emma
http://crzblue.mlblogs.com
BPB1 ~ I like Andre, James and, our uniforms are nifty!
I was waiting for Nelly to say that about Ethier 2 ibb.
Rats, rats, dirty rats! Vicente deserved to win this game.
DAMN, I DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH MORE OF THE CRAP I CAN HANDLE!!!!
*THIS CRAP
Urgh 1-2 and that 3-2 pitch was a k’s.
Baby Huey let us down again.
What does E say?
Fu-Q Joe, Ned and Frank!!!
Wow……………………………………………………..
UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can we pull the plug now??? This team’s as pathetic as they come and it isn’t going to EVER get any better with what we’ve got running the show. This team needs 4-5 starting pitchers, a buttload of relievers, a LFer, 2Bman, 3Bman, a catcher, and a manager that can manage his way out of a wet paper bag.
And another thing, if you’ve got a friggin reliever that can’t pitch two days in a row, get rid of him.
At what point do we be come sellers…….
This one actually doesn’t hurt that bad because I have ZERO expectations for this conglomerate that Ned and Frank have assembled. Sad, but hardly crushing. Broxton gets the goat horns, but too many walks, too little clutch hitting. Nice little team loss…and sweep.
I knew those extra man in scoring position with less than 2 outs going to kill us not to mention Dewitt god ******* rob. No he didn’t Broxton had that guy k’s and no way he should ever be in the game in the 8th. Weaver should’ve had started the 8th.
I like it Kahli – increased success through lowered expectations!!
Just fabulous ( said with extreme, extreme sarcasm)!
Thanks Emma now I’m going to freaking throw up now.
I forgot the name of that poster who’s son is a Cards fan surprise he not here for that 4 games series.
It is so painfully obvious that Torre doesn’t have an ounce of trust left in the bullpen, and unless our offense is going to score 10+ runs ever game (which we know doesn’t happen), we are screwed.
bear, you may be onto a script, here. The Wizard of Blahs, starring Frank McCourt as the heartless teflon man, Ned Colletti as the clueless scarecrow, and Jonathon Broxton as the frightened behemoth.
No guts or brains, but plenty of chutzpah… the PR machine acts like the Dodgers are still the fabled team they were in the past. With the current ownership, this team will never be better than just slightly mediocre.
Gosh dang the Dodgers mlb is exploding and all we really going to blame Broxton on this lost? Craig should’ve been struckout on that 3-2 pitch.
In fact why wasn’t Weaver in over Miller?
The headline reads “Cards Hand Dodgers 4th Straight Loss”. Ummmmmmmm, it’s called a sweep people!!!
messagebear – here is one off of Facebook that is very reminiscent of your posts.
**** patiently! It’s time to riot! **** McCourt drag him outta his luxury box and burn his asss on stadium way!
………and there are many more like it. The one good thing is that it’s not just ITD saying stuff anymore. It is the entire cyber universe saying the same thing in their own unique way.
We (and the players) deserve better!!!
SELL THE TEAM FRANK!!!!!
I don’t think you can really lay this one at Broxton’s door either. Two inning saves? I do not get why Weaver isn’t being used more myself.
*
This weekend sucks in a big way, but it’s still to early to give up. We need to do well against the giants or we’ll be starting to look at a fair sized gap between the us and the pads with two other teams to get by besides.
Well then bear in that case, let’s burn Ned’s asss on stadium way. 🙂
As far as Brox goes, blown saves happen. He still converts 86% of his save chances. HOWEVER, when he doesn’t “have it” and its apparent to everyone (except Joe evidently), then why leave him in there to keep struggling? For the last three seasons I think we’ve all seen that when Brox doesn’t have it, he ain’t gonna find it. And quite frankly, if Kuo can’t pitch in back to back games, then he doesn’t have any place being in a major league bullpen.
There’s only three guys on this team I’d keep – Dre, Brox and Kemp. Everyone else is totally expendable. We may not have much talent in the high minors (or in the minors period thanks to NedCo), but you can sure as hell trade DeWitt and Martin. Is anybody going to miss DeWitt’s magical bat in the line-up? And ship Martin to Toronto where at least they may want him for the “native son” angle.
If I was Ned I’d be working the phones right now to see if anyone would take Blake and Kuroda for some decent prospects. Hell Padilla too while he’s hot and has some value. I’d be begging NY to take Manny as well. Then in the offseason I’d take a look at what I could get for Billz, Kersh, and Loney. If what we could get would be equal or greater in return, then they go. Keeping all the young core nets nothing because as we’ve seen too, they don’t have the wherewithall to get themselves over the hump, and Frank ‘n’ Furter sure as hell aren’t going to get them there.
Chin Up ! Bear and Bag. Yea It’s tough loss. But this season is far from over, Dodgers gets well vs. Giants.
Next Game: Mon, Jul 19 vs. San Francisco Giants

I remember that split was different and wanted Sherrill to pitch on the road last year. That’s such one side home vs road splits.

Josh — thanks for the 411 on the tour. As for Wifey & I the only time we could do it of those dates would be the 9/4 which would be cool as it will be our 6th anniversary. The other dates we work and it’s her Mom’s 80th birthday. We would want to go to a game as well seeing as there would be a group of us.
WOW – It was sure a HOT miserable weekend…just going to put in the past….I can not say much about the games. I watched here and there but not the whole games. I am just going to pray for a Dodger miracle.
*
JOSH – thanks for the tour update. September sounds good to me ,game against the GIANTS and Holiday weekend…that should be fun!
Sorry Koufax, just being a realist. This team lacks far too many parts to even think about being championship caliber:
.
1. Starting Pitching. Whoever happens to have a hot hand is the de facto “ace.” Right now that’s Padilla, which says a lot about the problem right there. There?s absolutely no consistency amongst Kersh, Billz, Padilla and Kuroda. They all can pitch a good game now and then, but only string 2-4 good games together at a time if that, then have an implosion. The Phils have Halladay. The Mets have Santana. The Giants have Lincecum. We have Padilla?
.
2. Relief Pitching. Brox, Kuo, Weaver, Miller, Sherrill, Monasterios, Schitting (or whatever his name is. ) Other than Brox, Kuo and maybe Weaver, they all should come into the game to the tune of Send In The Clowns. Not only is Brox it, but when he doesn?t have ?it? there?s no one left to bail him out as we saw last night. And Kuo might be pitching great ball, but if you?re a reliever and can?t pitch in back to back games, then you don?t belong on the roster, especially when the rest of the pen is pathetic.
.
3. Catching. Ellis is what he is ? a back-up catcher. Martin on the other hand is totally worthless. Can?t hit. Can?t drive in runs. Commits far too many errors for a catcher. On a team that struggles to score runs, he?s a black hole in the line-up. Between him and the pitchers (who themselves obviously never take batting practice) you?re playing with 7 batters and giving away 6-7 outs a game.
4. Second Base. DeWitt?s a feisty gamer, but feisty gamer to the Pete Rose side is one thing. Fiesty gamer to the Delino DeShields side is another. 1 HR at a position that needs to be able to put up some power numbers doesn?t get it done. He?s been adequate with the glove, but Hudson he?s not. Throw in Carroll with his magnificent 0 HRs and that position in the batting order is all but void.
.
5. Third Base. There?s a lot to like about Blake. For one, he?s been pretty steady. Now he?s pretty steadily going downhill. Power numbers are down. Errors are up. No range and no power from another spot in the line-up that needs to put up some numbers.
.
6. Left Field. I like Paul. I think given the rest of this season?s playing time he might put up average numbers. Manny on the other hand is an old breaking down nag that should be led to the glue factory. He?s disinterested, can?t move in the OF, and now on and off the DL all the time. Even when he?s in the line-up you don?t get much anymore.
.
7. Record Outside the Division. This team has an abysmal record against anyone that isn?t the Snakes, Pods, Gnats or Rox.
.
8. Farm System. Thanks to McCheap and McStupid, the farm is totally bereft of any major league ready talent, which not only hurts our club because there?s no one to call up, they can?t even put together minimal prospects to make a deal. Then they draft players they know they can?t sign.
.
9. Manager. There?s not much I can say about Joe that I haven?t already said a few thousand times except that I hope he does us all a favor and retires or goes to Chicago after this season.
.
10. GM. I?m not allowed to come to the ITD Tour because I might start an impromptu S&D mission on Ned. Most of this season?s mediocrity can be laid right at Ned?s doorstep because he has no recognition of talent period.
.
11. Ownership. Need I say more?
I would love to have to eat my words, but I think I?m being quite realistic in my assessments and expectations. This team peaked in 2008, stayed at that level in 2009, and is now sliding down hill on a teflon dish with a 100mph wind behind it. Only thing I can see that will save it is a change of [funded] ownership and a complete overhaul of the front office and coaching staff, save Ng and White, one of which should be the GM.
Dang it I wanted the Kings to signed Kovalchuk but oh well and some of those hockey contract are ridiculously 17 yrs for 100+ millions to the Devil after we offered a 12, 13 and 15 yrs contract.
3 minor leaguers suspended for positive drug tests
1 hour, 22 minutes ago
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Wilmer Colmenarez and free-agent pitcher Guido Gomez have been suspended for 50 games each following positive tests for performance-enhancing drugs under baseball?s minor league program.
Jonathan Weber, a retired minor leaguer, has been suspended for 100 games following his third positive test for a drug of abuse.
Colmenarez, a member of the Dodgers? Dominican Summer League team, tested positive for metabolites of Nandrolone. Gomez tested positive for metabolites of Stanozolol.
The suspensions of Weber and Gomez will begin if they sign new contracts.
Major League Baseball announced the suspensions on Monday.
What’s the hell is this ****?
If they going to do that why not have Blake out there? I like that Kemp is dropped to 6th and Martin 8th and go to see Loney back in there.
go=good
I thought Anderson was going to be out there since he got that hit.
Good evening all………….
.
Not being able to hold on to a lead, has really been demoralizing to everyone this season.
.
Anyhow it’s time to shake and bake….. A poor showing in the series with the Giants, could be devastating……
.
LET’S GO DODGERS, LETS GO!!!!
Anybody know why Carroll is playing left field tonight? Things just keep getting more and more weird……………….but really not surprising anymore to be honest. I think he will be fine out there. Just would love to know the reasoning behind this one.
GO DODGERS!!!
Hello Everybody
No, I wasn’t hiding from the Cardinals, I just like to spend time at the feast. It only comes around for less than 2 weeks, every year, I didn’t escape anything I watched our Dodgers slide in the standings and now they have to climb back up and needless to say these games against the Jints are all must games as in must win.
COME ON DODGERS, GET OFF YOUR BUTTS.
I guess Manny isn’t ready and Paul isn’t ready for prime time lol and Anderson got his hit last night. HA,HA so Carroll will be out there shagging flies. I guess we need his bat.
How’ya doing there Nellyjean?
I am doing great Oldbrooklynfan!!!! Glad you enjoyed yourself at the feast.
Nice to see Carroll’s powerless bat in LF. I’d rather see Manny, and that’s saying something.
So Manny can’t play, but still takes up a spot on the roster. Kuo can only pitch every other game. So on any given day, we’re playing with a 23 man roster. Yesterday was 21 with Loney and Martin on the pine, though with Martin you don’t really notice any difference.
Call me old school, but I don’t think that’s how a championship club is run.
🙂 LOL!!!
So, other than the Dodger rants, how are you enchanted?
BTW – great post this morning enchanted!!
So, do you get the feeling this is going to be another long, bullpen-type game? I know we got out of that, but still……
That was a good shut them down inning that could work on the Giants psyche.
I think Carroll is playing LF to get the extra right handed bat in the lineup.
Hello gang!!! Very disappointing and disheartening loss yesterday. Sad weekend series with the Cards. Nice post Beav!!! I totally agree!!! Good part is, if we stay hot against our NL West brethren, we can still win it and make the playoffs. Not going to win a World Series with our pitching, but, hey, its better than not making it. Let’s go Dodgers!!!!
James McDonald, career wearing #52: 39 IP, 4.38 ERA, 5.31 BB/9, 5.08 K/9
wearing #31: 30 IP, 2.70 ERA, 3.60 BB/9, 10.2 K/9
J-Mac is currently sporting #31

I can’t believe he wrote this on tbla.
What a sad state of affairs!
I think we’re going hear a lot more from this kid Buster Posey.
For Phil Better come up with a Dee Gordon title tonight, his line:
4-5, 2B, 3B, 1 BB, 3 steals
Also, Jansen struck out the side, but walked 2 (one is debatable)
by Julio Nievas on Jul 19, 2010 7:35 PM PDT reply actions
Nice I hope that Gordon dude is the next Reyes.
Crap!!!
Well so much for McDonald.
I hate to say it but this kid BUMgarner is no bum.
That was Lucky # 7 for Raffy.
Maybe I jinxed him. Eh?
We’re still in this game folks.
…missed a golden opportunity…
Freaking double crap!!! Sorry Nelly, but Andre really hasn’t done jack since coming off the DL. He’s killed us tonight!!!!
Well, Jhall……………………maybe this is the answer. It is rumor, but anything is possible.
http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&q=http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2010/07/is-it-even-slightly-possible-the-dodgers-would-trade-andre-ethier-peter-gammons-thinks-it-is.html&ct=ga&cad=:s1:f1:v0:i0:lt:e0:p0:t1279597790:&cd=9vdVD-OhOy4&usg=AFQjCNEn_ceFRzX58-qye3YZYeiPUQgWIw
Well, at least Frank figured out a way to silence the ITD crowd!!! Not too many ways to comment or put a spin on sh*t!!! We just stink!!! Goodnight!!!!
Not a good sign to come back and lose after losing 4 straight to the Cards, it’s all uphill from here.
Good Night Jhall!!!! Have a wonderful day tomorrow 🙂
Even the non-ITD natives are getting restless and tired of the BS. One of many comments on Facebook tonight.
……………………………..
I’m jumping ship at seasons end. As long as mccourt owns this team, I will not renew my season tickets and i will not support this joke of an owner with this joke of a roster.
………………………………
I am certainly not jumping ship, but it sure is hard watching the games these days, and it makes it even harder when half of my household are Giants fans. I went and worked out for the last half of the game so at least I didn’t hear too much as the game was in progress. However, I have to meet with my first grade colleagues tomorrow, which all are Giants fans but me. Should be a fun day 🙂
I think Dewitt should get a pass.
I don’t want back to back left handed hitter so no Ethier and Loney back to back.
enchanted, I agree with you on just about everything, but I still like DeWitt. He’s simply a victim of “Ethieritis,” where a manager shows little confidence, sits him against lefties, slows his development, and as a bonus, puts him in a new middle infield position and then questions his defense. Question. It’s the bottom of the ninth and the lineup turns over…who do want coming up? That’s how you build your line-up. Who do you want to take that one last crack. Tonight he chose Casey Blake ahead of James Loney and Matt Kemp. In slo-pitch softball, that’s a sin. Joe d*cks with the batting order too much for my sanity.
Did anyone seen that line drive Dustin Nippert of the Rangers got? This one look worst than the Kuroda incident vs the dback.
Move DeWitt back to his natural position at 3B and load Casey Blake, GA, Sherrill, Belliard, etc. onto one of those 1-800 Got Junk? trucks I see around town.
I would think that Kemp’s name would float around in a trade before Dre’s, but does any of it really matter? They couldn’t get enough pieces back for either or both to fix what’s wrong with this club. The team on the field is merely the symptom. Actually so are Joe and Ned. The disease is Frank.
We’ve been trading away the farm for average major leaguers like Blake, Sherrill, etc. There is no depth any more. What do you expect from an owner from Boston?
Kahli – I might be more tolerant of DeWitt’s shortcomings if they had a line-up that would allow him time to develop and carry his weak bat, but when you’ve already a void at catcher, 3B and LF, plus very little power coming from 1B, its a luxury you just can’t afford (not that this team is going anywhere anyway.) Its no wonder they get shutout all the time and score very few runs when they do score – they only have 3-4 guys that can hit. Honestly though if anything, I see DeWitt more of a Lee Lacy type bench player.
Nice Lee Lacy reference, enchanted. What’s next, Rick Auerbach? lol
Wow…I thought for sure we will win last nights games. Just being hopeful.

I will always be a Dodger Fan but if they keep the loosing streak I will become a NON-Practicing Dodger Fan. No Dodger Gear and no Dodger games. This is just ridiculous.
When I find my team in times of trouble
Common sense will come to me
Hearing words of wisdom, sell the team.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Listen to words of wisdom, sell the team.
Sell the team, sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Whisper words of wisdom
Sell the team
And when the brokenhearted people
Watching on TV agree
There will be an answer, sell the team
For though they may be bloggers
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Whisper words of wisdom
Sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Whisper words of wisdom
Sell the team
And when the starter?s shaky
There swells an anger deep in me
Get out of town you *******, and sell the team
I wake up to the sound of snoring
We are dead, need a new regime
Speaking words of wisdom, sell the team
Yeah, sell the team, sell the team
Sell the team, yeah, sell the team
There?s a simple answer, sell the team
Sell the team, sell the team
Sell the team, yeah, sell the team
That?s crystal clear wisdom
Sell the team
Feeling pretty dismal about the Dodgers right now. Last night’s game was one that I thought we should win, with Lincecum and Zito to follow, I just think the gnats and dodgers are going in two different directions, but that was the way I felt in early July, when we swept them. It swings.
And I am talking about noose around Dodgers, BBP1’s assesment above is so true, when the season began we had 2nd base hole to fill and some starting pitching to ponder, it has become worse, add the media controversy over kemp and Dre being traded, (and I predict they will burn us if traded to another NL team, dont do it!), the disease in the bullpen, and the continuing ownership debacle, and poor decisions of our GM about offering arbitration (wolf/ hudson) and our walking wounded. I am really hoping the slump is over, kersh and bils will rebound and the timely hitting will apppear, but that big ownership/mangement noose is still hanging, and the fans along with the players are wrapped in it. Why is sherrill and GA still wearing “dodgers”, it seems to be their motto, rather than a team they contribute to. Sell the team frank for the greater good and take your marriage issues to a counselor, and do not have dodgers $$$ pay for it.
That’s Rafael Landestoy to you Scott!! How’s sunny SoCal my friend?
Excellent song wannabe!!
Awesome, Wannabe!!!!!
And, BPB1, you’re not half bad yourself 🙂
About KERSHAW….well he is a great pitcher BUT for some reason every 4th or 5th game he pitches, he fooks it up and starts walking pips. Next game he will be striking batters out so no worries right now. He will be a GREAT PITCHER!
*
About BILLS…I think he just lost interest in baseball and pitching…
*
Broxtons is not happy where he is at… I personally don’t like him yeah he saved the All-Stars which too me…HE GOT LUCKY. Thanks to the other NL members and there fast thinking.
*
PADILLA….he scares me…he is good but boy when he gets mad…what’chOUT he looks like a charging bull!
*
TRONCOSO…I like him….he has room for improvements!
*
Haeger & Sherril….one needs to retire and the other should change his pitching skills.
*
Kuo has lots of potential!
*
Kuroda is good, but something is bothering him….he has potential aswell.
scott, I’m all for that 1-800 GOT JUNK truck. enchanted, DeWitt could never catch a housefly, on camera, while being interviewed! That was a classic Lee Lacy moment. Iwannabe, nice song…makes me think of another Beatles’ tune with Lennon ranting, “I can’t sleep, I can’t stop my brain, you know it’s three weeks , I’M GOING INSANE, you know I’d give everything I got for a little peace of mind.”
The sad thing is that McCourt doesn’t care that the people that are jumping ship are true blue Dodger fans that can’t stand to see their team dragged through the mud by someone who makes Donald Sterling look like Jerry Jones to his Al Davis.
Yeah, I said it. TRUE BLUE Dodger fans. Season Ticket holders. Spurned.
Frank McCourt doesn’t give a damn, he spent the first half laughing like fiddlin’ Nero over a burning Dodger-dom while banking on finding enough USC, UCLA, Star Wars, SpongeBob, ethnic groups, L.A. Kings fans and who knows what else who would be dumb enough to spend $35 to be hosed down by Hooters girls miles away from the action on the field.
Of course, this was brainstormed by the guy who was dumb enough to buy this team without cable rights.
When planning a prospective trip to SoCal, it’s always joked that I grab my Dodger schedule before I grab my calendar. Friends will mention Vegas excursions, I pull out my schedule and say “let’s see if this works out”.
As much as it pains me to do so, I’m not consulting the schedule this year. Hell, I could even go to Disneyland and save a few bucks, and have an all-day experience.
Dodger Stadium used to easily rival Disneyland as a total experience, and the team on the field, in the game down to the last out last night, is doing their part.
As for the once pristine Blue Lady of Chavez Ravine, though, McCourt has, in 6 short years turned it into a loud-musiced, overstimulated, foul territory-less, shiny object jeweled Lady of Ill-Repute, designed to rob Los Angelinos of their money. But only the Dodger fans are getti…
Nevermind. I’m just sad that Frank McCourt doesn’t care about Dodgers fans. He doesn’t care about our needs. Jon Weisman was talking about how he feels that Dodger Fans feel they “deserve” things that he himself doesn’t feel he’s owed. Sorry to disagree, Jon, but when you’re paying drastically-increased prices and parking and concessions for a team, you deserve to see it paid forward to the ballclub that brought you to the stadium in the first place. As we all know, the money has gone everywhere BUT the Dodgers.
It’s like selling Chips Ahoy to Cookie Monster, and wondering why there’s only crumbs left on the floor.
I think I went over the line by equating my beloved Dodger Stadium to a lady of ill-repute. It’s obvious that it’s the owner’s box that’s turning tricks.
Happiness is an ex-owner……….
I always liked Lee Lacy. Jack of all trades, master of none. Some power. Don’t remember the fly thing though. I always liked Darrel Thomas too. I even got pretty good at that basket catch thing between your knees.
Another thing this team sorely lacks is leadership. Lasorda inspired his troops to be better than they were. Dead man walking Joe probably wouldn’t even twitch during shock treatment. Listening to one of his inspirational speeches would make me want to jump off the Colorado St. bridge over the Arroyo Seco.
With no leadership (Joe), no ability (Ned), and no sense (Frank)… the young core overcame a lot in the last 2-3 years, but its finally become too much.
Hey Enchanted, Just holding down the fort!
Landestoy! lol I can’t beat that.
Lacy had some decent years:
http://espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=176
Editing and a few additions:
“Dodger Stadium used to easily rival Disneyland as a total experience, and the team on the field, in the game down to the last out last night, is doing their part.” *as well as they can considering the circumstances
And in referencing the McCourtship of the MyTown would-be Pop Culture Utopia during the first half of the season, I meant to compare it to the change in strategy in the second half to do some damage control on those half-empty attendances on national TV during some of the highest-profiled games of the season.
Immediately after the all-star break, all of a sudden, deals abound at Dodger Stadium. Kids are $5 with your full-priced Field level or Loge level ticket (2 hours before gametime at the box office). The LA Times, via the sports section, is having a special where 2 games this week are offered special pricing, where $50 Field box tix will be $20 and $30 Loge and Reserve seats will be $15 (see http://www.sonsofstevegarvey.com for more details on that one).
Read into this what you will. I know I am.
Great comments, posts and songs today!!!! The ITD group sure makes this somewhat bearable :)))
Manny placed on 15 day DL…surprise, surprise! Ausmus activated.
Josh Rawitch: Frank the fans are revolting!
.
Frank: I know!!
