History revisited…

Pretty cool that just a few feet away, Vin Scully is doing the Dodger broadcast, Joe Garagiola is doing the D-backs broadcast and down in the dugout, Kirk Gibson is managing the D-backs. All three men were there on Oct. 15, 1988 when Gibby hit the famous home run in Game 1 of the World Series.

A few of us were joking before the game that when Gibson goes to the mound to pull out his pitcher, he should do a fist pump with his right arm like he did rounding the bases.

Meanwhile Joe G. and Joe T. were hanging in the dugout during batting practice and a ton of players came over to meet Garagiola. The broadcast area here is named for him and they have a cool timeline of his history in the game of baseball.

That’s just what I was looking for, the Dodgers breaking out in front with a big inning.
    GO CLAYTON.

That was a crazy inning, but we’ll take the gifts. Thanks D-backs. I love when the Dodgers make base running blunders and Vinny brings up Babe Herman 3 men on 3rd base story.

That’s the way to do it Clayton, shut them down after we get a bunch, don’t give them anything back.

I’m surprised that Vin never mentioned it.
Joel Youngblood (D’backs 3rd base coach)was the only player to get a hit for two different teams in the same day (I think this still stands).
If I remember the Mets, after a day game, which he got a hit in, traded him to, I believe, the Expos, where he got a hit in a night game.

Alright Raffy!!!! He’s really on fire. His batting average is now .340. He would be leading the league in hitting if he had enough plate appearances to qualify.

I felt bad for Abreu. Is it now the time for the Ojeda to make an error to since he’s the only IF’s that haven’t mae one.

Kershaw got a lot of support tonight.
    but he pitch very well.
If the Dodgers blew this lead, I think it would be a record and I’d have to run and hide somewhere.

It would be great if the Dodgers could put all these runs in a bank and used them when they need them.
I hope they don’t need any of them tomorrow.

Thanks for a relaxing game Dodgers!!! The race was pretty intense so watching the Dodgers skin the snakes easily tonight was very enjoyable and for once in a long while, stress free.

    Happy 4th ITD!
    NSB,
I was just reading all the posts that I missed from the prior thread. Well said (as always) on your long post. The only thing Is I would say DAN EVANS instead of Kevin Malone here:
“SINCE THEN, there have been many playoffs, but no Series win. Our team has been so talented with the nurturing of Logan White (and Kevin Malone, arguably)”
    .
HOpe every a safe 4th of July.

Awsome news about Andre and Brox!
    .

Congrats to Andre and Brox! Kuo also deserved it but I would rather have Brox and Kuo rest during the All-Star break.
    .
I’ll wear my Andre shirt and Jonathan All-Star shirt to the All-Star game.
For the All-Star FanFest, I’ll be volunteering so they supply you with an All-Star polo shirt. I have to wear kahki pants with that. I better check if my kahkis still fit me.
