now let’s STICK IT TO THE CARDS!!!
The Cards are going DOWN TODAY!!
Time to shuffle the cards.
Wow, you guys should seriously add a computer technician to your training staff, considering your computer keeps going on the DL.
Is there a reason Kemp keeps sitting? It seems to me he will not gain much experienced only facing lefties, not to mention he provides much more punch to the lineup and is better defensively than Lofton.
Kemp is sitting because all he does is strike out. The kid needs to go back to AAA and get some ABs. Soon. He is gonna be exciting to watch though, hopefully later in the year.
Well, you all got the lineup you wanted again tonight. We can look forward to another two runs. I won’t be watching— I’m tired of rooting for a team that isn’t even trying to win. Kemp has been more productive offensively when he’s been in the lineup than Lofton, and Lofton plays a terrible CF. It doesn’t make any sense, unless Grittle feels bad for Lofton. He can’t seriously believe that Lofton gives us the best chance to win. I just hope Izturis “knocks in runs with his glove” tonight, becuase he certainly isn’t going to do it with his bat.
Kemp is sitting because he has become the Dodgers version of “Pedro Cerrano” from major league. He can’t hit the breaking pitch and everyone knows it.
Wow, last year VS Carpenter right handed hitters batted .199 with 4 HR in 450 ABs. Outch! Hopefully this line up with 5 lefties does better against him. Kemp, yea he needs to lay off the low cheese- he will learn over time. Once he starts taking walks and stealing second he should get more pitches he can hit.
gban90277, Kemp will be fine he just needs more AB’s that’s why I say play him everyday here/or down in the farm.
Kemp needs to go down to AAA where he can learn how to hit breaking pitches…he handles the cheese(by the way thats a fastball drj) just fine. If we are indeed trying to win this division, the time for kids trying to adapt to the learning curve up in the show is over. Send him down for now. I’m positive one day he’ll be the power hitter JD Drew isn’t.
… and Kemp CAN hit breaking balls- the problem is his he isn’t recognizing when they are out of the zone (Im having nightmares of Raul Mondesi flailing away at low and away garbage)… He will start mashing when he gets some discipline and makes pitchers throw the ball where he can make square contact.
Yeah, have him go recognize them in Vegas.
If we’re going to keep Kemp instead of sending him back to AAA, it seems to me that he should be given the chance to play every day. I note when he is in the lineup chances are he will come up with a hit or even two after adjusting to the pitcher – when he is only asked to pinch hit, he will usually strike out. If Little wants him with the Dodgers, then let’s give him a chance to play instead of sit in the dugout. That’s not giving him any experience.
…And someone tell Toby Hall to keep his mouth shut. It’s bad enough reporters still interview Odalis and put his quotes in the paper. Memo to Odalis: You pitch bueno, you pitch often. You no pitch bueno, you no pitch. Gracias.
One has to believe that Kemp is the odd guy out when Ledee comes off the DL. If not with Ledee for sure when Repko is ready !! Honestly I’d rather see Looney of Guzman then Kemp. They both have good pop, better decipline, both have been playing the outfield in AAA, both are more mature in years, just makes more sense. Let Kemp grow into that body of his in minors !!!
Go Dodgers !!
Release Steiner and Odalis !!!
Were trying to win the west! I like Lofton at the top and what he brings. Kemp is struggling right now and will probaly need a little more seasoning in the minors, thats where he should get his experience not in a pennant race! RELEASE ODALIS!!!Broxton, Baez, Saito! that should be the guys pitching if we have a lead late in the game not Carrara!!!!
Carrara is not the answer. Go fish Ned.
Please give me the patience to have to endure another game with Steiner!
13 minutes in, already feels like this one is a loss.
I agree Kemp hasn’t shown the greatest plate discipline. Still he has more RBI’s than Lofton with half the ABs. The Dodgers need some pop in their lineup….they have enough soft hitting “set the table” guys with Izzy, and Furcal. All things considered I think Kemp is an upgrade offensively and defensively over Lofton. Kemp isn’t learning on the bench.
Kemp was sent down to the minors while Ledee was activated which can put an end to the discussion.
That that dong by some guy ive never heard of off Lowe should put and end to this game.
Closer in training: Double-A Jacksonville relief pitcher Mark Alexander is currently building on a streak of 19 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings pitched. Since the streak began on May 21, Alexander has appeared in 17 games, allowing only 12 hits while fanning 30. He pitched a season-high three innings in his last outing Saturday. Alexander’s ERA has plummeted to 0.69 (three earned runs in 39 innings) and he has 20 saves on the season, third in the league.
you guys here about this kid? bring him up no?
Well I guess it’s time to shake up this lineup. Only 2 hit ball. Lowe is losing some confidence, or he’s having a very bad ADD moment !!! For years now Dodger pitchers have missed the boat when it comes to holding runners on base !! Honeycut, it’s time you earn that paycheck !! Start teaching these guys !!
Let get back into it tomorrow guys !!
Go Dodgers !!
Bringing up Alexander may be premature. A closer is about all we don’t need. Let the kid do it right in the minors first. Don’t burn him up like we did with Jackson !!
Lets go for the split !!
Go Dodgers !!
So far everyone else in the West is losing as well. All about half over. Lets keep our fingers crossed it stays that way !!
Lets think split !!
Go Dodgers !!
I will get in on this conversation…Mark Alexanders went to Missouri…He did not pitch much until his senior year…He played with KC Sluggers….the same organization that produced Albert P….and Joey Devine of ATL…..He just keeps plugging away and getting better and better…I dislike all the platooning and changing of the line-ups…They need to make some decisions….and then play the same 8 fielders….the rest of the way and see where we go….(I am a Dodger fan in KC….ultimate insult was when the Royals swept us last year on route to their 3rd 100 loss season in 4 years…
The Padres who have 1/2 the talent we have, but play with twice the heart we do (ex Nomar) have come back to tie their game.
Is this what we should expect IF we make the playoffs… let me know so I dont waste my time putting down my playoff ticket deposit. If we can’t beat the good teams, and make it a ballgame against their good pitchers, we might as well make it a rebuilding season…again.
We’re already rebuilding !! How many more kids do you want ??
garsmith, I’d like to see Albert, LaRoche, Kemp (play everyday) & a couple more that don’t come to mind right now. by they way it looks like Mueller is exploring another sergury. (not good)
Cheer up guys, im very disappointed too… but theres always tomorrow.
interpol1414, by “albert” are you refering to scott elbert?
1) It’s amazing what a difference winning and losing makes in the chat lines.
2) Here, and especially the Dodger Thoughts line remarked that Izturis was not a hitter. We know he’s not a power guy, but the guy’s hitting .290. What will make the difference would be for Kent and Drew to go yard. They’re the guys who are supposed to provide the “veteran leadership.”
3) Nomar for all-star. Nomar for Comeback player of the year. Nomar for gold glove at first. Nomar for MVP. Nomar for a few more years.
4) When playing the Cardinals, I can’t help but think about Lima’s shutout from the 04 Division Series. Unfortunately, Brad Penny was not available for that series. If he was, though, I cannot help but wonder what that rotation could have been, and whether the Dodgers could have toppled the Cardinals.
5) If I could see anything, it would be a game where Brad Penny gets the win and Eric Gagne gets the save. Only happened once before for the Dodgers: August 3, 2004. It would be a shame for that not to be a possibility ever again.
Computer tech? let me know. I’d love the job and have 7 years experience at UCLA!
Besides that, missed the game but tivo’d it and will be analyzing it for comments tomorrow.
Did want to send a quick thank you to Bill Meuller for being on the road with the team despite the injuries. I know that type of leadership is much needed especially after these two recent losses.
I couldn’t agree more Patriotacts !! Izzy is doing his job and then some !! Nomar is the guy this year and I hope it’s several more on top of that !! And having a Penny win with a Gagne save would simply make my day / season !!! The only thing I would add, or should I say substrate, is for McCourt to send Steiner & Perez packing !!! NOW THAT WOULD MAKE MY DAY !!!
Think Split !!
Go Dodgers !!!
PS: Grady split Drew and Kent up in the batting order until they start producing !!
Meuller is a class guy and deserves a better ending then what he got. But you can’t fight mother nature !! Sooner or later she get us all !!
Go Dodgers !!
Has anyone noticed that Seo has 3 quality starts for TB? It’s just another case of someone who was good elsewhere then coming to the Dodgers and *******, before going somewhere else and doing well. This is a disturbing trend and I’m beginning to think the problem is the coaching staff.
This business about Seo is VERY disturbing…. he pitched a good game (but lost) yesterday, and the game before that (VS the Yankees!!!) his 7 inning, 1 run game would rank in the top 5-10 for all dodger starts all year. What is that about?
I have said all along and repeatedly that what really ***** about the Dodger pitching is Honeycutt, and he is the one we should be rid off. Maybe Seo and his change in performance is just typical of a lack of coaching. I also blame Honeycutt for not being able to straighten out Odalis, and it appears not even trying. It is ridiculous that the coaching can have no impact on a major leaguer who is not yet past his prime and was deemed to have enough stuff to warrant a big salary. There is a dollar asset or obligation that is left wasted, so that he does not even have a trade value. The Houston Astros just fired their batting instructor when the team couldn’t hit, why can’t we recognize the same thing with our pitching coach.
FIRE HONEYCUTT – TOTALLY WORTHLESS.
Honeycutt must be the problem. Even Baez was better in TB than here ,and in the American league they have to deal with the DH. I thought it was a big market small market thing , but that dosen’t hold true because Seo pitched very well for the Mets. Also Hendrickson hasn’t looked at all good. Again it must be Honeycutt!
