This is my favorite lineup yet, I have a feeling of trust with each of these players.

Ned, if you’re going to trade away prospects, get good players and sign them to multi-year contracts, don’t let them leave after the season.

I just don’t understand why such a power starved team should have three week hitting players in the lineup when there are options on the bench.

“pellam” I can understand your frustration with Drew and Kent, but I have to say there isn’t a weak spot in that lineup today !! Drew is still hitting 287 and Kent is hitting 273 with 18 home runs between them !! History says they’re due to break out in the HR catagory !! You have to have faith !! When these two get hot, and hopefully the pitching settles down, we’re going to be a force to contend with !!
    Go Dodgers !!!

We shouldn’t really be so concerened about the power numbers – who cares if the runs come via the longball or better batting averages. I say its far more impressive to be doing as well as we are offensively while being last in the NL in HR’s. Kent was heating up before he got hurt…he and Drew should finish with 20-25 each.

On a side note, one more reason I hate the recent trade with Tampa is this knucklehead Toby Hall’s horrible attitude.

    http://www.sptimes.com/2006/07/12/Rays/Hall_is_hoping_to_esc.shtml

What a team player…More like what a joke. You’d think this guy was Pudge or Joe Mauer the way he talks about wanting to play. Dude just got traded to one of the most storied franchises in major league history and into instant playoff contention from the Devil Rays!! Russ Martin is our future and the best catcher on the team, and you obviously dont have the teams best interest in mind. Hit the road. You and Odalis and your sour patch attitudes are what bring good teams down. Great attitude pal.

I agree that is our best line up, however i would like to see Izzy and Russ switch but whatever. Another good arm and the west is ours, but to do possibly more we need another good bat. Maybe another arm for the pen, but I like Saito closing and I think Baez is gonna come around, along with Big John and the rest of our relievers. Let’s hope the kid can get his 1st win tonight, it just might get him going.

One more thing — Hey Ned, please send Mr. Hall to Kansas City. In fact give him to KC for all I care. Alomar Jr. is a capable enough backup. Lets see how Toby feels playing there.

You cant realy blame Hall all that much, he doesnt have any loyalty to the Dodgers yet, he just got here and the guy wants to start. He wants to play and not watch, its annoying, but in a way you have to respect that he wants to be out there that badly….and he knows Russ is the man for the Dodgers. Hopefully we can work it all out. WE NEED AN ARM!!!!

this is the best lineup. This is what needs to take the field everyday, and while i know some players need rest…this is the lineup that has to happen as much as possible. I really really believe and trust this lineup.

yah, thats too bad for toby hall. trade him for a pitcher.

we dont need another bat…we dont need to hit homeruns…any team just needs to score RUNS…who cares how they come. For us, they’re coming along JUST GREAT!!!! no need for a bat.

When you can score as many runs as the Dodgers do without the HR your working the game. When the HR’s do come it’s all the better. When you manage like Tracy & DePodesa did counting on the HR and refusing to run the bases your only as good as those few that can hit HR’s. As long as our game avg stays above 4 to 6 runs per game and our pitching improves we’ll be in the fall classic.

As far as Hall is concerned, get him out of here !! Charlie’s right !! A bad attitude is like cancer, it just keeps spreading until you do something about it !! I have to believe that when Hall got back today he was met with a chill at the door !! I bet that just cost him even more playing time !!

    Go Dodgers !!!

Hey Garner, look what the guy you wouldn’t play just did !! Home run extending his hitting streak to 21 games !! Bet you wish you thought that one over again !!

Pellam, if it isn’t Drew or Kent who is it ?? Furcal hitting 300+, maybe Lofton but he’s an onbase precentage move the runner over guy. You can’t mean Ethier, he’s blistering the ball. Izzy is hitting a very respectable 290 and what ever Martin does is just simply a plus !!

Who is it your referring to ??

    After 3 innings 2 nothing Dodgers !!

    Go Dodgers !!

    1) Why are you guys being so hard on Hall? The guy has a contract that pays him more for more plate appearances, and he’s up for free agency in a couple years. If you go from being a starter to a backup, especially with the way Grady never rests Martin, I’d be mad too. That would be about the same as making Izturis a bench player.

Fact is, Martin should rest as often as JD Drew; maybe the day after an off day for the team. Why do you think LoDuca always hit worse in the second half?

Alomar is a coach, but not a backup catcher. He can’t catch on consecutive days.

    2) No Kemp? I guess Lofton really wanted to be out there, but the DT thread reports he looks like he’s limping. Why not, when you’ve got a homer-prone pitcher up for the Cards?

    3) Nomar hit a home run with two outs and a runner in scoring position. This is a surprise to nobody at all, except Phil Garner.

    4) Furcal’s average topped .270 with his double. Good for him.

    5) Billingsley struggled with Eckstein and Spezio, but gets Pujols to ground out and K’s Rolen. Go figure.

Can we trade Charlie Steiner for a pitcher ? The guy is a terrible broadcaster ! He is as boring as watching Martha Stewart boil water. I am trying not to fall asleep here.

First of all Russ will be our catcher for years to come, and I expect him to make several all-star appearances. For those of u watching the game , u saw him completely sacrifice his body and dive into the stands. Initially he caught it, but lost it as he crashed head over heals into the fans. Then he comes up and bangs a lead off double to boot. Those of u who say we don’t need a bat, all runs tonight so far were on one swing of the bat. The homerun is the great equalizer, and great pitching. Nice job, Chad. When he gets the walks down, he could be special.

Unbelievable! How do you bring the biggest bum on the team in to pitch and then to put the cherry on the sundae you allow him to pitch to the best hitter in the game. Why bother playing all those innings Grady when your goin to pull this!!!!

  18. garysmith@glsmith.com's avatar
    garysmith@glsmith.com

Regardless of the loss or the fact that Grady left Odalis in. Two things need to come from this game !
    1) Release Odalis, we all agree on that !!

    2) Fire Steiner NOW !!!

This Bozo was making fun of the fact that the hitter had a 600 average against him. Not just informing the audience, but full blown laughing at the fact !! And then he couples it with adding the next batter to the equation. McCourt needs to FIRE Steiner NOW !!!

He’s mocking the team he works for and I can’t stand it !!

He was laughing about the facts before the HR !!

It is my sole quest from this day forward to formally get the word to McCourt on what it means to be a Dodger fan and have to listen to this garbage !!

Go Dodgers !!! Lets do it tomorrow !!

That’s not the game over we like.

But what does it say that Grady would rather use Odalis Perez than Danys Baez? And why pitch to Pujols with nobody on and one out? Hall should have stood up for the intentional walk.

  20. abuabraham2@gmail.com's avatar

    Trade Odalis.

he’s not going to ever recover mentally. He’s done.

Release him if you cant trade him. Please…for us.

Dont ignore the elephant in the room!

Odalis for Chacon of the Yankees. Like the Yankees would have a problem of taking on payroll. The guy needs a scenery change.

Odalis pitched to Bonds successfully, so he tried Pujols. Honestly, I feel bad for the guy. Sure he’s a disappointment, but I can’t help think that everything stemmed from McCourt venting to Colletti immediately after giving up that grand slam. What’s done is done, though, and he’s not going to work out here.

It’s important, though, to trade him outside the division, even for Neifi Perez and if it involves sending a lot of cash, because otherwise he’ll become a Diamondback or a Giant and pitch a perfect game against the Dodgers.

the game was really lost when the dodgers couldn’t score with first and third and no outs! can’t believe olmeado and nomar struck out with men on?!?

odalis perez want to relieve. he wants to start. for whatever reason that most likely won’t happen with this club.

ned must have his reasons for not releasing him or sending him to minors, but he is not helping the ballclub, esp coming in a game saving situation.

grady’s decision making often confounds me and esp in this game. why perez in a tie game against the best rh hitter in the league?!? with rolen to follow? either walk him or go with baez.

We all know that Perez is a bum.

Just wondering, any reason why Grady didn’t start Beimel instead of Carrerra in the 7th with two lefties (Edmunds and Duncan) up for St. Louis?

Philly has put Tom Gordon on the trading block, let’s get him…

Release Odalis!! Grady why isn’t it automatic Broxton in the 7th Baez in the 8th Saito in the 9th game over please don’t bring Carrara in when were in a save situation please!!! I’ve been hard on Furcal all season I hope he wakes up that was a great game he played last night just wish he was doing it as a 3rd baseman. Lowe we need a strong performance that’s why your our ace to bounce the team back tonight!!!GO Dodgers!!

That was an ugly loss yesterday, but props to Dodger pitching not named Perez for shutting down STL bats for 13 innings. Props to Furcal for 4 hits. Can anyone even remember the last time Drew hit a dong? What a joke. Hes a ground out machine. We need D Lowe to step up today! Also, any word on Kent? Was he taken out for precaution? or did he injure himself on that K?

When it comes to relief pitching last night, we can actually be quite proud of the corps except for the inevitable Pujols blast. What I want to point out, however, is the big difference in key hitters between the Dodgers and a good ballclub. Compare Edmonds and Pujols in the lineup on a daily basis to Kent and Drew – seems like no comparison at all this season. I don’t know whether our two guys are just fading out their careers, or whether there is some serious physical issue for both of them, but it does not bode well for us the rest of the season. No batch of the best rookies can make up for that kind of deficiency, and last night’s lack of production was just an example of that.

This is pathetic. We have a team full of cry babies…

    Open letter to Ned Coletti:

Please lock up Nomar with a long term deal. I know we have Loney coming up but Nomar has proven he is a great athlete that can play any infield position. Possibly 2nd base for Kent in 2 years, who knows. But one this is for certain, this guy is a professional hitter and the foundation of our lineup. He wants to be in LA, he’s from LA, he’s happy here. Don’t let him go.

Oh ya, RELEASE CRYBABY ODALIS as well.
