Even more good news

Andre Ethier was just named NL Player of the Week. He hit .500 (11-for-22) with five walks and 10 RBI and is quickly making a case for Rookie of the Year honors along with some of his teammates, Russell Martin and Takashi Saito.

Congrats to Andre, Brad, Nomar, Stan Johnston, Jaime Jarrin and everyone that’s representing the Dodgers well this week, including the 250 or so fans who spent the night at the stadium last night.

Finally, I’ve heard that Peter Gammons is recovering well from the brain aneurysm from which he was afflicted. I’ve gotten to know Peter of the past few years and I think we all know that he has been a tireless worker and a well-deserved inductee into the Hall of Fame and all of us in the Dodger organization wish him well both in his health and in the record sales for his new album, "Never Slow Down, Never Grow Old." The proceeds from the album go to the Foundation to be Named Later, a charitable organization started by Theo Epstein and his brother, Paul. Apparently, Theo plays on the album, too.

Congratulations to Andre!!! He’s not only a great player in the making, but seems to be a wonderful young man and a great example of a Dodger player. I wish that Little would henceforth just make him an everyday player instead of trying to maneuver off days against left hand pitchers. I think Andre has shown enough to deserve that. Let’s see what stats Ethier can really produce on that basis, and that would give him the best chance to qualify for that Rookie of the Year honor.

Friday night we were at the game and our seats are in the Lodge player family section. We had the honor of having the whole Ethier family and friends sitting next to us and if Andre is anything like his family he must be one terrific person. It’s great to see a young man fulfill a dream regardless of the money that comes his way. Lets just hope he can stay a kid at heart for as long as he can !!
Go NL !!! Who knows maybe Andre will be representing the Dodgers in 2007 !!

It is nice to have Ethier on this team. Besides his great on the field performance, his character and off field behavior are what makes me proud to have him be a Dodger.
