Kent and other stuff
To answer the question posed, no, there isn’t a belief right now that Jeff has to go on the DL. Grady just got done telling the reporters that Jeff is still possibly available for today or tomorrow but that they just don’t want to risk injuring it further. With the All-Star Break around the corner, I don’t think anyone is contemplating DLing Jeff until we see how he is on Thursday.
Also, there was a question about the bugs on the field at Dodger Stadium that you always see players waving their hands at. I spoke with Eric Hansen, our head groundskeeper and basically what he was able to tell me was that these have been here for years and that they’re small, black flies that we’ve tried to help get rid of, to no avail. Some days they’re worse than others and there doesn’t appear to be much of a pattern. But, I can attest to the fact that they’ve been at the stadium since at least 1994, which is when I first recall seeing them.
Jose Cruz Jr. is absolutely worthless! 0-4 against left handed pitching today. Time to say goodbye to the little starts you actually had!
you cant say anough bad things about our pitching…. the Giants, with out Barry hang 11 on us so far- after 7 yesterday…. and the game isn’t over. Trade a few of the younger players if needed-this staff is an absolute joke.
I’ll tell you what is even sadder than our pitching – it’s our so-called pitching coach Honeycutt. I don’t remember where he came from, but his impact on this team is absolutely worthless. The pitchers coming in don’t seem to be prepared, including the starters who tend to give up too many runs right in the first inning. I wish somebody would wake up and give Honeycutt the boot IMMEDIATELY. He either doesn’t know how to impart any of his big league knowledge to his younger charges, or else none of them are listening to him. I doubt it is the latter. TOTALLY WORTHLESS. I hope we don’t have to wait to say good bye to Little before we can get rid of this joker.
Boy I hate stating the obvious, but to drj884’s point; pitching, pitching…ummm pitching. In our case, lack there of.
and…to messagebear’s point; attitudes AND performances reflect leadership. Again, in our case, lack there of.
In the top of the ninth after the leadoff double did anyone notice, that it looked like the sac bunt hit the guys bat twice thus turning it into a foul ball. I admit I am a huge dodger fan, and that i am prolly a lil biased, but i do watch a ton of games, and i just see a lot of bad calls go against us, and very rarley for us
messagebear – Would you suggest a trade with ESPN to acquire Orel Hershiser?
I have to say that Little and Honeycutt seem to have entirely different personalities. Whether this is the cause of problems, though, is something I don’t know.
We must win today, period. Half the season is over, and we need to start the second half with a win.
Adjustments must be made by Ned and Company. We have given up too many games we should have one.
Yes, Patriot – I’d love to have Orel on the Dodger’s staff. I was rooting for him to be made manager when the interviews were going on, but bringing him on as a pitching coach would be a wonderful move, for starters. I believe he should be able to see possible progress to manager after that. I think he would have the right fire in the belly that nobody on the management team seems to have. Little may have had the experience edge, but what is he really producing – I don’t see it. If I was the owner of this club and was putting in the kind of investment that the Dodgers have, I’d be calling some of these people to account like you do in any normal business. This management and coaching team is just letting things slide along and taking comfort in the fact that we’re still in the pack for the playoffs. Unfortunately, except for the young guys, I don’t see any fired up inspiration to get there, and I’m afraid that the laid back style of management may eventually corrupt those guys as well.
As much as we want it to happen, I don’t think Coletti, Little, or Honeycutt can pull rabbits out of a hat.
it’s tough to be patient, especially after last years disaster.
Hopefully we’ll get some pitching soon and not have to give up the farm to achieve this.
As I said earlier, pitchers 3,4 and 5 are a disaster. What did we get for Jae Seo? You know who I’m talking about… Hendrickson had 3 starts and 3 losses. .at least Seo did’nt give as many runs in so few innings. Just thought that Orel might be a better pitching coach.
Actually, if you consider Sele as the #3 man with Penny #1 and Lowe #2 they have done well. Lowe needs to get his act together although I’ve always seen him as a #3. 4 and 5 have really stunk. Hopefully, Tomko comes back strong because Billingsly needs more time at AAA. Can you imagine the disaster if Sele was not performing so well.
“What did we get for Jae Seo?”
I know what we gave up for Jae Seo! A great middle-reliever/closer in Duaner Sanchez. Check his numbers with the Mets. Incredible. And he was ours!
