A tough loss
I know I haven’t posted very often after games, but before I leave the stadium, I think it’s important to let the fans know that we all share your frustration and continue to work towards improving the team. The biggest thing that I try to remember during losing streaks is that they are bound to happen during the course of a long season. That doesn’t make them any easier to take, but as most of you will remember, we had lost five in a row heading into that Cinco de Mayo game and then became the hottest team in baseball. It’s happened before and it can happen again.
I think that most people would agree that this division will be a dog fight all season. Even with the countless injuries we’ve sustained (Gagne, Mueller, Brazoban, Repko, etc.), the team has been able to weather that storm due to the performances of the young kids we’re calling up. They’re bound to have their struggles, too. Don’t get too down on them or the team. Now’s when they need the fans’ support more than ever.
I know my job is to stay positive, but hopefully it will rub off some of the readers. The key really is to not get too down when we’re losing and not get too far ahead of ourselves when we’re winning.
On a side note, Derek Lowe will take the ball tomorrow instead of Brett Tomko, who fouled a ball off his foot during BP today. Tomko will start on Friday.

Inside the Dodgers 
Just got in from the game and your right Josh it was a tough loss. Chad worked hard and kept us close but he threw way to many pitches and could only go 4 innings. Broxton and Baez were really off their game. Kuo looked OK but it was too late then. It was great to see Izzy in the game, and at SS, go figure !!! It just worked out that Furcal was the last out the inning earlier and had to come out on the double switch. Our seats are in the Lodge behind home plate and that run we were called out at the plate sure looked safe from our seats !! The kid Kemp was good again but when we really needed him in the clutch he couldn’t come through. Nonetheless the team has the ability to turn it around. I myself would like to say that if we’re not going to use Perez then what good is it to keep him active and taking up a valuable spot on the roster ?? I hope we make a move soon, we could sure use some help in that dept. Tomorrow is another day and a win streak has to start some where so lets get it started !!

Pitching and the Dodgers used to be synonomous with one another. No longer is that the fact. I blame Rick Honeycutt for not preparing his pitching staff better. The best pitch in baseball is “strike one” and many members of the pen don’t seem to grasp this concept. They seem tentative to throw strikes. If we’re not careful, we’re going to ruin Jonathan Broxton’s confidence altogether. He belongs in the bigs, but he needs to just throw the ball for strikes and let the hitters make outs.
Believe in the “Caps Lock” key…

Will the Dodgers please trade Izturis and Perez for a good pitcher. Its obvious that the old players from before is bringing down the morale of the club. They will need to do this to make the playoffs. I noticed that the team was winning until these guys started to talk smack!!
Our luck is about to change for the better. Tomko is hurt and won’t start. Hooray!!
Honeycutt seat is getting Hotter by the walk. Izzy hitting 1.000 nice single to left also nice play up the middle. I sure miss that gold glove shortstop that got us out of a bunch of jams with his glove alone. Release Odalis get some relief!
Izzy’s been talking smack? From what I’ve seen that’s just been Odalis, and he has a history of that.

Loyalty, dedication and commitment. A fair-weather fan I have not been, nor will I ever be. Show some camaraderie, unity and class by being together as a team, fans and a community. These players, staff and EVERY SINGLE DODGER need to know we’re behind them. The team (That’s US, too!) knows they are not alone in this. Not cool at all to be divided and second-guess what’s happening. We’re gonna win the West and the pennant and host the WS. Bleed Blue…always.

if you watch enough baseball through the course of the season you realize there are going to days, weeks (hopefully not months)
that a team just looks totally lost out there.
it happens to the red sox, the yankees and yes, even the dodgers (not to mention the cards who have lost two in a row by football scores). right now this team is just floundering. they need something – a good come from behind win. a strong pitching and bullpen outing. a clutch hit or home run – or even a good old fashioned brawl to ignite the team.
problem is – it is JUST BRUTAL to watch your team go through this. just brutal to watch spotty pitching, un inspired hitting and
flat defense/base running. my gosh, i pray they get out this soon, or i might have to pull my baseball package by the all-star break.
the izzy experiment makes no logical sense – other than to showcase him. aybar might have a questionable glove, but at least he is comfortable there and added a lively stick.
even andy laroche would make more sense, if he wasn’t hurt. but a gold glove shortstop
moving to third base with no experience, no spring training and a surgically repaired arm
is a total act of desparation or an incrediblly savvy move before the trading deadline.
and yes, it does really, really hurt to watch beltre come back and star with his glove and stick, while we have the great (and expensive) fragile one in right field for about the same price….

Instead of starting Tomko Friday and going from there, here’s my idea (I hope Grady takes it)
pirates:
Odalis (vs. Oliver Perez)
Sele (vs. Zach Duke)
Tomko (vs. Kip Wells)
twins:
Penny (vs Silva)
Billingsley (vs Liriano)
Lowe (vs Santana)
Without this change, we would see Tomko vs. Johan Santana, and that’s just a mismatch asking for trouble.
IF we are going to keep izturis then why not have the following
1B Kent
2B Izturis
SS Furcal
3B Garciaparra
Kent does not mind first, Izturis states that he is comfortable with second, furcal stays happy and Garciaparra has played third before and should not need much adjustment.
You can’t have an infield where you have three guys playing positions that they are new to. Nomar has worked so hard to learn how to play first base, hes only made one error, and not to mention hes batting 360, so why do you want to mess with a good thing there? It’s fine the way it is, though I wouldn’t mind Izturis and Furcal flip-flopping positions.
We have 35 losses and 17 were blown by the bullpen. Losses happen, but when they happen the same way over and over again someone needs to do something.
let’s RELAX! & let the dust settle from the 5 losses, once Drew & Kent wake up wi’ll be alot better.

Go Dodgers
Yes let’s all relax here, who cares if our 4-5 hitters aren’t hitting a lick, our starters making it all of 5 innings(6 might cause an asthma attack), and let’s not start on the pen, that horse was dead last week. I’m not saying the Dodgers ****, well.. yea I am, at least right now they do. We aren’t playing anywhere close to our potential, considering some key players staying healthy(Furcal, Drew, Nomar, Penny). I suggest a players only meeting, clear the air a bit.I’m not down on our boy in blue, just a little disappointed. The NL west SHOULD NOT be a dog fight, our team is clearly the most talented from top to bottom. What’s wrong with a little constructive criticism, I still love the Dodgers as much as the next fan, just calling a duck, a duck.
