Looks like Kemp will be sitting 2 nights in a row, I doubt Grady will throw him in there tomorrow against Pedro Martinez. Here’s hoping for a quick start and going 1 up in this series.
hey guys, i havent left any comments in a while, i was in the hospital for about 2 weeks, but i’m back… and how bout my kids?.. they have been carrying the team… well izturis is almost back, and i hear they want to trade him, but i would make sure jeff kent is healty before they do such a thing, and i am still in favor of the dodgers trading Mr. soul glow.. at this point i’d be happy to just get a sack of potatoes for him…
Welcome back. Thought you had abandoned your kids. Saw Russell Martin play yesterday on Rogers Sportsnet. Quite a collision with Utley and then a homer. Still waiting for Gagne and Martin to be battery mates. Maybe tonight.
ray, hope you are better. does anyone else think that of all the rookies, Guzman looks like he needs a lot more work in the minors. His swing looks awkward and uncomfortable to me. He has a few hits but nothing that had any power behind it. comments …
cosmow, I agree, though I think Guzman has a ton of potential. I like that he’s up, but I think he’ll be the first to go back down when Mueller or Izzy come back.
Welcome back Ray. Hope you’re feeling better (wow, everyone is going on the DL these days).
I’m excited to see how the Dodgers tackle the Mets, and I’d love to see someone homer off of Sanchez (if I could get the game on TV here on the east coast I’d love to see Sanchez throw his glove at the ball again).
Kemp gets the 2 days off in a row, and Guzman gets an off day as well. I like the depth of this team; you can bench two good players and still field a quality team.
Tomko on the mound, 2-1 with a 2.32 ERA at home, and most importantly, has only given up 2 long balls at home in 31 innings (vs 8 on the road in 32 2/3).
Joel hasn’t made solid contact yet, which is a bit troubling.
That collision yesterday was a cheap shot, even though Martin say’s otherwise. Utley could have pulled up, instead he dropped his shoulder right into the center of Russell’s back. I’ve played ball most of my life, and I’ve never seen that before. I thought Chase should have been drilled in the 9th, although Seo was the pitcher, so it wouldn’t stung him much. Way to comeback and hit a bomb, that kid is playing Dioner out of a job( I hope). Gametime is here… c’mon Tomko.
At first glance it would appear that Guzman will be heading back to Las Vegas with a very clear idea of what to work on. Kemp should also be heading to Las Vegas, a promotion in it self, but can you believe how mature he is for a 21 year old !!! Our issues are with pitching, both starting and the bullpen. My guess would be that as we get closer to July the trade talks will increase !! I just hope Izzy isn’t part of it.
Guzman has been around so long it seems he should be ready but is still 21 and only a part season at AAA. The article in the Times today was not encouraging indicating Guzman sulked when Kemp got called up before him. He needs more time to hone his skills and mature a bit. The guy that could sulk would be Delwyn Young. In about the same number of AB’s he tops Guzman in almost every category. He was 2B and assigned to the OF last year. He got to AAA before Guzman, led the Dodger minor leaguers in hits last year, has average power and has continued to improve statistically since Guzman was called up. He might be one of those guys hoping he is traded.

Ray: Hope you’re feeling better. Go Blue.

Ray, who is Mr. soul glow?

Go Canada.

Every homer Tomko has given up at home this year has been in the first inning. Don’t panic.
Nice one from Hong-Chih Kuo. Runner in scoring position with one out? Just strike out the batter. Only 20 pitches for 5 outs, 1 hit and 3Ks.
Now if only Grady didn’t pinch hit with Cruz against a righty when Cruz is hitting .190 against right handers (Kemp hits .381 against righties).
