Repko? Come on Little, give Lofton some rest. I like the idea of giving Drew a break because we already took the series, but come on. Also, how awesome is Martin.

Drew is 9 for 31 with 4 HR’s against Sheets…perhaps the wrong time to bench him especially with the day off tomorrow and with a day game this upcoming Thursday where he could easily take the day off.

I personally think that Lofton should be given at least as much rest as Drew. I will give Grady a lot of credit for being careful with JD, though, because he’ll do much more good if he’s not on the DL.

Sheets has had a rough year thus far, but Sele is unproven in the majors this year. He’s pitched in the AL his whole career too, so this is also his first NL start, so it’s up in the air.

Russell Martin has thrown out more baserunners (1) than Dioner Navarro (0). Let’s see if he can pass Sandy Alomar (1) sometime this week. If he does, and he keeps hitting, we might have us a starting catcher.

Nevermind, Sheets was scratched due to shoulder stiffness, Dave Bush is now pitching for Milwaukee today.

Sele is looking rather efficient on the mound – 82 pitches through the first 6 innings this afternoon. Derek Lowe was right about how the pitch count makes a difference.

okay, was it just me, or we you dreading another “lance carter” moment in the ninth?
feels good to actually have a reliever shut down a game with a big lead.

martin or navarro? geez, still wondering why depodesta was so high on navarro. great kid with a great attitude, but where is the arm and footwork that got him the “baby pudge” label. right now, it looks like martin is shaping up to be another loduca with his glove and toughness blocking the plate, and yes, my goodness he threw out a runner!

and yes, the mets are desparately seeking starting pitiching and woudn’t o. perez fit perectly there. the mets love latino ballplayers, he is a lefty and they just lost

zambrano for the year. let’s do it and wing with sele/billingsly/houlton for the rest of the year…how bad it could be, plus it will free up another 8 mil per season…

and finally, what is up with furcal’s glovework?

Just wondering…where did “brother derrick” come from?? Is there a story behind that one?

“Brother Derek” is the name of a highly regarded horse that finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby and is a favorite for the race at Pimlico. The whole thread was oriented toward horse racing and Brad Pitt’s involvement therein.

Aaron Sele pitched a very strong game, and the Dodgers are playing well. This is the way it’s supposed to happen… albeit against the Brewers. We’ll see how we handle Andy Petit tomorrow night. Also, it’s quite the quandry the Dodgers have themselves in with regard to their starting pitching. I don’t know how many more Jekyll and Hyde episodes I can take from Perez. He does seem to be the Giants’ killer these days though… which is who he’ll face next when his spot in the rotation comes up.

Russell Martin looks to be the “real deal” behind the plate. His footwork is flawless and he’s also fearless when it comes to blocking pitches. Now what to do with Dioner Navarro when he returns? He’s a class-act, but clearly Russell Martin is the superior backstop, now and for the future.

Also, jesuispret, why do you keep double-posting? Just hit the “post” button once. If you don’t see your post, just refresh your browser and it will be there.

see on the rumor mills perez to mets, who would the dodgers get in return? also dodgers looking at minn. outfielders hunter or s. stewart. why not just give repko, and ethier more playing time? Dodgers, please don’t trade the future, lots of talent up and coming. Aybar, Guzman hitting well at los vegas. pitching help is there too. play repko.

Brother Derek was the name of the favorite horse heading into the Kentucky Derby last week. Brad Penny and J.D. Drew went to visit that horse two weeks ago. That’s where it came from.

so sorry about the double posting. it is anoying to read, now isn’t it?

like the buzz about trading perez, but the tori hunter and stewart trade talk puzzles me, as the dodgers are rich with young outfielders, and would hate to see a repko, ethier, guzman or kemp leave.

however i would empty the bank of prospects to get dontrelle willis, even if means chad or joel have to go (just not both). can you imagine the d-train pitching in dodger stadium!!!

Being a GM must be an ulcer creating job. I know the goal is always to upgrade the present team to make a run at the play-offs. However, for me the thought of trading prospects would be very difficult, even for Dontrelle Willis who also is pitching inconsistently now. I expect Cesar Izturis will be traded as there is no room for him. It is a given that all the young outfielders cannot stay especially if Jason Werth recovers. I really hope thet GM Colletti can continue to protect the future as he upgrades for the present. Can’t wait for a crop of homegrown Dodgers in the next few years.

those are my thoughts also, slowly bring up the kids, blend in a couple of free agents, but depend on home-grown talent. the n.l. west is weak, the dodgers can win it,but I don’t think we are in the class of st.louis, the yanks or boston yet. why trade the future just to go one more round of playoffs, and not win that level.we are deep in talent, and to give it away that way makes no sence to me. in a couple of years we could be a world champion type of club.
