Two roster moves

Just to let you all know, the Dodgers recalled Jonathan Broxton and purchased the contract of Joe Beimel today. Optioned to Las Vegas were Lance Carter and Hong-Chih Kuo.

‘Bout time. Hopefully Broxton’s second tour will be a little more successful.

And hopefully Lance Carter’s tapes will make it to Vegas, and show him a clearer picture.

(I’m referring to the following story in the LA Times

http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-dodrep26apr26,1,5130516.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-dodger )

So now that it doesn’t make a difference whether or not a lineup is posted, can we see one today? And is Grady considering shuffling Kent around in the lineup to see if that helps?

Finally!
Next to go should be Hamoluck!

Why Hamulack? A 1.69 ERA isn’t good enough?

Hope Beimel does as well at ML level as he has at Triple A. His past K/BB has not been good at ML level but was quite good at Las Vegas. Also a lefty which seems to be a good thing. Broxton should be more effective this time around.

Hamulack has been quite good. He has lost two games and that seems to reflect badly. His ERA is good and K/BB not too bad. Should improve with experience as he is still a rookie.

But won’t this mean that Las Vegas will start losing games now that Carter’s pitching for them?

Thanks alot – your answer solved all my problems after several days sutrgiglng

Can we see a lineup for tonight? Apparently it has no impact on streaks.

My guess:

Furcal

Lofton

Drew

Kent

Garciaparra

Mueller

Repko

Navarro

Penny

Weather.com reports that it is currently 96 degrees in Phoenix, which should hopefully be hot enough to melt Jeff Kent’s cold streak (and cook an egg on the sidewalk). Projected overnight low is 71, which is warmer than it got here in Fairfax, VA.

Ditto the “about time” for Carter. I hope Broxton can put good location on that laser-cannon of his. Hamulack’s got good stuff and has rebounded well from the two losses. So let’s see if this bullpen starts to solidify now…

Go Blue!! : )

Hey Pats’…

You forgot about the roof. It may be 96, but the game will certainly be played in the upper 70′s to low 80′s indoors.

That is true, but Kent and Furcal both hit yesterday.

And now Andre Ethier has been called up, lowering the average age of the Dodgers yet again, looking as though his call-up is more temporary than Beimel and Broxton.

Given that Ethier has the start, I’m guessing that we see him in the 7-hole in the lineup, with everything else as normal. The Dodgers fared well against El Duque last time; let’s see if they can repeat their success.
