actually the heir apparent is Tony Abreu in AA or Blake DeWitt in High A, Aybar is a utility player at best.

If Aybar is a utility player, that’s pretty good utility. He’d probably the guy they try to turn into a Figgins-type player.

Did you know that Rafael Furcal has played second before, and has only made one error there? He actually is a pretty good second baseman (.992 career FP at 2nd), I guess because his throws don’t go as wide.

All this talk on the other threads of trades is hilarious…

Anyone ever hear the old saying, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.”? We have a good core team right now. The Izturis experiment is working and Izzy is finding his timing again. Furcal will relax. We have enough outfielders to give Drew his rest when he’s not %100. We have him now, so why eat his contract? He is still a run producer when he’s in the lineup. Don’t trade away prospects for pitching. If Drew can bring a solid pitcher, then perhaps that might be the way to go.

I agree with “kssparkuhl”, nothing too drastic. If one of these aging veterns, except Nomar, can net us a good pitcher then do it. Otherwise hold pat and let the kids spread there wings !!
    Think Sweep !!

    Go Dodgers !!!
