Inside the Dodgers is back again for 2008, as the team celebrates 50 years in Los Angeles. Check out ongoing thoughts, comments and observations from the Los Angeles Dodgers front office members, including General Manager Ned Colletti, Vice President of Public Relations and Broadcasting Josh Rawitch, Team Travel Manager Scott Akasaki and others during the club's pursuit of a seventh world championship.
Brett Tomko is going to be the fifth starter at the start of the season, with Hendrickson pitching out of relief. More to follow soon, but I wanted to let you all know as soon as I could.
and Bomko lives to see another (start of) the season....
not too big of a deal, hopefully he starts off good like he did last season.
Well, we all know how this is going to play out.
Bring your mitts, kiddies in the left field pavilion.
Panda,
The wisdom of Dodgers management is flying right over your furry head. Sure, Tomko will give up plenty of bombs (as he has his entire career), but then we have the ten-times-better Billingsley to come in and pitch 3-4 dominant innings in relief.
Aside from the fact that we still lose the game, it seems like a great plan to me.
Is Grady going to go into any details on why he made this decision?
Forget about Tomko. The Dodgers lineup is fodder. Here is what it should be....
1. Milton Bradley cf
2. Hee Seop Choi 1b
3. Brian Giles lf
4. JD Drew rf
5. Joel Guzman ss
6. Antonio Perez 3b
7. Tony Abreu 2b
8. Dionner Navarro c
That's a lineup of 8 potentional 800+ OPS'ers.
I think La Roche is better than Perez and Martin is better than Navarro.
We never had Brian Giles. We even offered him more money.
So, is the guy pretending to be JoeyP and Steve from Dodger Thoughts still Bluetahoe? I mean, just because you were banned from Dodger Thoughts and asked not to return doesn't mean you should come over here and pretend to be other people. Not only is it incredibly weird, it's kind of petty. Anyway, you should probably stop doing it.
I bet Bluetahoe isn't even his real name.
I did not even notice the handle. So much for trying to convince another person to like La Roche.
I would LOVE to hear how the dodgers are going to spin sending Loney back down to keep Bigbie or anyone else on the team. Besides the 2HRs, Bigbie hasn't outhit Loney and can't play first base. Its rather obvious to me that Loney is the better choice in the short run, and the long run. I think they know Nomar ain't playin 160 games.
Is anyone taking bets on how long Tomko remains in the rotation? I say he's out by mid May. He was never any good. Has management forgot about his performance of last year?
i bet Billingsley is into the rotation by May 16th.
You're probably right MAX_POWER, but it won't be Tomko that loses his spot (his new delivery and that playmate wife of his is enough to keep him pitching in the starting rotation). Bills is probably going to get into the rotation through Wolf's arm falling off midway through the season.

Sounds like Tomko will only get two starts in April, so I'm sure it will take until the end of May, maybe first week of June, before Tomko and Bills do a role reversal.
