All-Star Game Tonight!
Hope you’ll be tuning in tonight to the All-Star Game. Kemp batting third and playing CF with Kershaw and Ethier ready to contribute and hopefully extend the NL’s “winning streak.”
Matt had a tough time last night at the Home Run Derby, hitting just two longballs and both came with nine “outs” already but it seems he enjoyed it quite a bit and hopefully he’s saving his pop for the second half of the season.

I’m really excited to see a bunch of players at the all-star game tonight. That’s why I love the game and hope they don’t get rid of it. Even if it’s only for a couple of innings I want to see Roy Halladay pitch, guys like Matt Kemp, Jose Bautista and Prince Fielder bat. I just don’t think the pieced together rosters should determine home-field advantage. I think it’s still going to be a fun game no matter what happens and looking forward to seeing some world class ball. I see Frank’s trying to inflate the attendance numbers again. I’m sure all of you got the email about mini U storage – rent a unit, get free tickets. Now Frank can count the block of tickets he sold to Mini U (at a SUBSTANTIAL discount I’m sure) as paid attendance.

I love it when the homepage says we acquired “veteran” outfielder Rivera…..meaning old and way past his prime. I also noticed when I had to get the attendance for the last home game, it listed it’s source “advanced media”…..so, like you I’d like to know actual attendance, not supposed tickets sold. It looks as though, about a third of what they say is the attenance, is actually there.
Far be it from this clown organization to get someone young and in their prime. Also, far be it from just letting Sands have left and get some much needed experience in a season that doesn’t matter. I can see maybe not wanting to start the clock on Robinson, but they already have with Sands. Ned just makes me want to puke.

I also see Simers finally mentioned in his article today what I’ve been saying for years – who in reality has wasted more money, Ned or Frank? I’ve long advocated Ned’s wasted far more money that Frank ever could. Its not even close.

I don’t mind the Gnats going after Beltran – they’re actually playing for something. We’re not, so why acquire anyone? They win 4 games in a row against mediocre competition, and Ned thinks they’re back in the race? They barely beat SD. Best thing in the world would be if they dropped 6 in a row against the Snakes and Gnats to open the second half.

An interesting comment by one of the all stars slated to be a free agent this winter. Said he’d consider the Dodgers, but would have to wait to see if they kept Kemp and Ethier.
Keeping those two plus Billingsley and the Kid are is a no brainer. I do not think I’d be in a hurry to let Loney go either. We’ve got bigger problems than James to tend to.
Griz, this is what happens when you try and build a team from without instead of within – no continuity in personnel from year to year and hole after hole to patch. Ned’s constant roster turnover (generally 50% of the 25 man) and patchwork will NEVER breed a perennial contender. They might get lucky like in ’08 & ’09, but there will be far more ’10s and ’11s. You reap what you sew. Screw the kids for worthless vets – its the wrong way. Its Ned’s way.
Beav, it’s true too many of our kids have been sent down the road for people just passing through. Looks like we’ll have to go after some free agents to compete, though. If we can, that is.
I’m thinking we’d be way better off biting the bullet and sucking for 2-3 years while building back up the minor league system again. Look at Ned’s signing’s vs. Logan’s (frighteningly they number about the same each year and how many rounds are there in the draft?) The only continuity we’ve had since Ned got here are Logan’s boys, and Ned’s managed to run off a lot of those – Martin, LaRoche, DeWitt, Paul… If he’d have stayed with them rather than Barajas, Blake, Uribe and the LFer du jour, I guarantee we’d be better off now.

From the videos I saw, though, I saw a lot of coverage of an empty Dodger Stadium, and sparse coverage of a sparsely attended protest.

TAKE THE PROTEST INSIDE THE STADIUM.
We’ll call it “The Last Dance”, or “The Last Dime”, if Robbie Robertson is as sue-happy as Frank. Look at the calendar, see if there’s another Nationally Televised game. Protestors, spend your last money on the McCourt Dodgers for tickets. StubHub if you can, to not add to “paid attendance”, but fill that stadium up as much as you can with as many people in on it, the last Dodger fan money McCourt’ll ever get en masse.

Waiting for the date to drop, start a group page on Facebook or whatever. Coordinate chants to chant during the game “GET LOST FRANKIE! :clap clap, clap-clap-clap:” “BACK TO BOSTON :clap clap, clap-clap-clap:” “FRANKIE’S BANKRUPT :clap clap, clap-clap-clap:” and PLENTLY, PLENTY of “LET’S GO DODGERS :clap clap, clap-clap-clap:”. No profanity in the chants, just a concerted effort to show a stadium filled with Dodger Fans shouting down Frank McCourt in all fairness, Showing we’re tired, and we’re done, and we’re willing to make the sacrifice of padding his wallet one last time to show the nation that we love our team, and we don’t want this joke of an owner.

The TV cameras can’t filter out the chants. And the nation will have no doubt that Frank McCourt, in our hearts, is as divorced from the Dodgers as he is from Jamie.
The message: We’re still here, we’ve been here all along, and you’re the reason we’ve been staying away, and should you remain until your bitter end, you’re the reason we will be staying away.

Disjointed, unorganized comments around the internet are nothing. A Sold-Out Dodger Stadium telling Frank McCourt where he can shove it is a bit more undeniable.
Sounds like a great idea! There are many who are thinking the same….just need somebody to organize the “stadium protest”….hint, hint 😉 I think there are several guys on Facebook who do T-shirts….a custom design just for this occasion would be spectcular!

Unfortunately IMO, if Frank hasn’t gotten the message by now, he never will. What’s worse however is that I believe he has (how could he not?) and obviously doesn’t care. Then again, he never has. Where the protests need to be now is against the people and institutions that keep loaning him money.
NSB, great posts as usual but I agree with Beav that Frank obviously does not care what anyone thinks about him. He is a stubborn egotistical sort who has to win no matter the cost. If he really cared about his legacy and his sons, he would find a way out of this mess. I believe AVM Systems is a company that provides data on baseball players. This is according to a search that led to a page out of the book, Moneyball (which has been made into a movie). If so, either the Dodgers ignored much of that data or rightfully declined payment for bad information.

I’m watching the Triple-A All-Star Game. I guess I’m baseball junkie!
Tru, understandable since the day after the All Star game is usually the worst day of the year for sports fans, especially baseball fans as there usually are no games to watch or follow.
Who gives a flying focaccia about Frank McCourt? The guy has less brains than Mike Rotch.

The stadium protest would show two main things:
1.) That the decrease in Dodger Stadium attendance has nothing to do with the economy, and everything to do with the jerk in power.
2.) That “bloggers” may be easy to ignore and dismiss, but potential paying customers, in person, airing grievances have more power than anything that was ever said in any blog’s comment section or main posts.

Also, I’d imagine it’d be a invigorating, cathartic experience to a fanbase who, by leaving empty seats, are somewhat quietly taking it as Frank’s giving it.

Plus, if you’re StubHubbing it, you’re not giving Frank any money he doesn’t already have. You’re not adding anymore to paid attendance.

Every time you post on this official Dodgers site, I’m sure Frank gets paid somehow, if only a dime. And even if it’s only a penny, this blog is so filled with comments, people have to search for threads half a decade old to comment.

The only way to send a message to this guy is by embarrassing the hell out of him in public, the same way he has shamed each and every one of us. There’s strength in numbers, you know.
When I think of your plan, I think of when I was at a game when Andruw Jones came up to bat. By the resonating boos throughout DS, there is no doubt he heard those. So, if the same thing were to happen with Frank, I think the worst that would happen is the players would understand that the staying away has nothing to do with them and everything to do with Frank. A national TV audience to show a stadium full of disgusted fans does have it’s positives.
But North, even using stub hub those people gotta park and inevitably buy sodas, hot dogs and the like, all of which puts money directly into Frank’s pocket. If an empty ballpark doesn’t embarrass him, nor Simers, nor having to declare bankruptcy, nor a million other things, a full house chanting down with McCourt isn’t going to. With all that he’s said and done already, nothing is ever going to embarrass Frank. He knows why the ballpark’s empty even though he won’t admit it. The public though isn’t fooled into thinking its the economy or lack of security (well, maybe 12 people in Florida might be, but its pretty apparent to the rest of the world.) He’s fully aware that public opinion is against him and he just doesn’t give a damn. Narcissistic personalities like Frank will never cede to shame or embarrassment or public pressure. Its just not in them to care about that. Frank’s all about Frank and to be all about Frank is to be all about money. That’s all he’s ever cared about, all he cares about now, and all he ever will care about. So boycott his enablers and they will go away. Dry up the cash and Frank will be forced to go away too.

When the Dodgers left Brooklyn in 1957, it was complicated. A perfect storm of events that led one of the flagship franchises of baseball, the Brooklyn Base Ball Club, to leave the only home they ever knew, where they shared a stone clubhouse that was used by General George Washington to plan the Battle of Brooklyn in the Revolutionary War. Walter O’Malley, a lawyer, had his vision of where to move the club from an aging Ebbets Field, but that didn’t fit in the vision of Robert Moses and NYC at large. But the Dodgers are from Brooklyn, and had been looooooooooong before it became a borough of New York City. It wasn’t really a New York City ballclub, it was always a Brooklyn ballclub. Robert Moses was going to take that away from them and doom them to an existence in Flushing Queens at the Shea Stadium site, and in a Pyrrhic blaze of glory, O’Malley decided that if Brooklyn couldn’t have the Dodgers, then New York City couldn’t have them either.

Also, one of the main talking points around the mid ’50s, from what I’ve read, is that the fabric of Brooklyn itself was changing. After the war, the Brooklynites that had been there for decades and decades were moving to Long Island, and immigrants from Puerto Rico and other nations were moving there in their place. I’ve read an account where, in the mid 50’s, some “immigrant youths” would urinate in bottles, and throw them on the field. the Dodgers, a tight-knit team where many of the players lived within blocks of Ebbets Field, were watching their city change around them. When the Brooklyn Dodgers played their last games, it was to a sea of empty seats.
Nice post NSB. I just got done reading “Forever Blue” by Michael D’Antonio that I checked out from my library. It tells the story of Walter O’Malley and corroborates your last two paragraphs.
It also had a story about how a fan named John Christian was giving Leo Durocher, the manager at the time, a hard time, heckling him from the stands. Durocher ordered a security guard to bring the fan to an office under Ebbets Field where he struck the fan with a weapon, later determined to be brass knuckles. Durocher then came in and broke the heckler’s jaw with the same weapon. Christian filed a complaint with the police who then brought Durocher and the guard to the hospital where Christian identified them as the attackers. Durocher, who had a “dream team” of lawyers, was able to escape a felony conviction of assault, but was advised by O’Malley to settle a civil law suit or risk losing his job. The cash settlement of $6,750, the equivalent of $75,000 in 2009 dollars, made the problem go away.

We have a guy owning the team who is well versed in Law, and exploiting it in a fight with Baseball at large, and, probably soon, the city itself. A guy who has, whatever the reason, as solid a spine as O’Malley ever did when it comes to backing down from figures who hold authority over him.

We have a changing demographic of Dodger fans ethnically, and you don’t have to look far in comments sections to read the kind of sawed-off, racially tinged comments about how Dodger fans are only Mexicans, and the Mexicans are the problem, morons who can’t distinguish between a racial distinction and jerks who make bad decisions who happen to be that color. “Who cares?” the comments read, “Only Mexicans like the Dodgers… [insert racist comments about Mexicans and their children here]”

We have an uncertain future for Chavez Ravine, and empty seats, to the bottom line, show a public apathetic to that team, whatever the reason.

The Dodgers are not Los Angeles’, they are Major League Baseball’s. And Major League Baseball is being run by a guy who doesn’t know sheet from shinola, the only guy on planet Earth who didn’t think McCourt would have the gall to declare bankruptcy before payroll came up on the 30th.

What has been done cannot be undone, and for whatever reason, people might not like what the Dodgers become post McCourt. “Anyone but FOX. ANYONE but Rupert Murdoch.”. Remember that? (and may I say that it’s nice to see that fatcat taking a nosedive).

The Dodgers were in one of baseball’s flagship cities (Brooklyn, not NYC), two years removed from their first World Series Championship when they moved.

Whatever they are today, they’re not either of those things.

And as empty the confidence I have in Frank McCourt, I have even less in Bud Selig to get ANYTHING done. He’s more destructive to the sport of baseball than McCourt has been to the fabric of the Dodgers, I must admit. A fabric that was already torn by the time McCourt showed up.
The protest would be about showing the Dodgers that we care.

Parking’s the only money he’d have to get from us. Eat before the game, people!!! And there’s water fountains all over the stadium, far more healthy than soda. And free, except for the water fees Frank McCourt would have to pay 😈

The protest would be about not lying down and taking it. Not letting Frank McCourt become bigger than the Dodgers (which is EXACTLY WHAT THE BOYCOTT IS DOING), but divorcing Frank McCourt from the Dodgers. It would be about Dodger Fans taking their team back, throwing McCourt the last chump change he’ll ever see from true-blue Dodger fans. It would show the players on the field that our passion is still there.

It’s about throttling McCourt not to the death, but to the pain (for those who’ve seen “The Princess Bride”). Our anti-McCourt chants the last thing he hears before he’s laughed out of relevancy.

Josh and the rest of the marketing machine are eagerly embracing the social media tools to try to get us fans to spend more money at the stadium. Your idea of bringing the protest inside the park is a good one. Like the “Arab Spring”, we could use the same tools to organize a protest that would garner a large media following to let the world know that we want McCourt to cash in his chips and go away. Holding a “flash mob” event on the field during a game would be a bold statement but probably result in the arrest of many fans. Like the civil disobedience of the 60’s, an event of that magnitude would be too huge to ignore.
I’d be kinda scared of a flash mob on the field. The field belongs to the players.

I’m not interested in getting to the point where protesters would be arrested en masse. I would go for quite the opposite: To take the stadium back for fans, so it can return to a place parents can bring their kids and bring them up as Dodger fans.

A flash mob would be quite the opposite, and in order to even have a chance of pulling that off, all the participants would have to buy the most expensive tickets in the park, or have big enough hops to jump the outfield wall from the Pavillion.

Also, I wouldn’t trust all of Los Angeles on the field with our Dodgers, or the Giants/Padres/whoever they’re playing. Too much room for tragedy.

Again, I can empathize with the sentiments, but the only benefit I can see is that it may be cathartic for a few thousand fans.

The bottom line is, Frank doesn’t care how or why your inside his stadium, all that matters is that you are inside his stadium. Pushing up attendance in any way, shape, or form Frank benefits, if only to look good to creditors and the bankruptcy court. That’s why they’re deeply discounting tickets now – anything to get you there. Love him, hate him, shout him down, Frank still makes that deposit the next day.

As for the practical accounting, let’s say 35000 seats are already bought and paid for. That’s going to leave 21000 people that have to pay full price to whatever section. Very few people are going to park outside the stadium and hoof it in, especially if its hot. Even if 1/2 the people eat before they come to the park, that’s still 28000 buying food and drink, and I’ll go even further and say half that ate beforehand will at least buy a coke.

I’ll be rooting for the Snakes this weekend. Maybe I’m dreaming, but if we can string together that six-game losing streak starting tomorrow, just maybe that will kick Ned out of the buying mode.
Everytime I read about Colletti slamming the team for underperformance and we should be okay if we play better and make a few changes, I think of the line in the movie “The Hangover” – “You are literally too stupid to insult”. That is how I feel. I think Ned can’t possibly do anymore damage to this team, but he never fails to provide us with more of his idiotness. And there are fans out there who actually are mad at the players (Andre being one of them) for “thinking” of greener pastures. Hell, even the fans are thinking it for them.
All Ned need do to find a reason this team is where it is, is look in the mirror. Not once have I ever heard him say he put together a bad team or a bad deal or made a bad sign. Now he’s blaming this year on injuries. This team was ill conceived from the start and it was apparent to a majority that it was doomed before the season ever began.

Yup, comparing July back to March yields no surprises whatsoever.
That’s about the size of it STT. No surprises. The biggest surprise would have been if this team had actually played above .500 and stayed in contention. It’s not even surprising that Ned is blaming it on injuries and not taking any of the responsibility for his bad signings and trades. He is an idiot and continues to reaffirm that fact when he talks about this team still having a shot and being a buyer. His total ineptness is being overshadowed by the McCourt debacle. Ned would actually look a whole lot better and it would help his reputation more if he just admitted that this team is bad and went to work on actually fixing it instead of continuing to do what has not worked and left the team in its current state. C’mon Ned, we know you can make bonehead moves to bring in worthless players that won’t benefit the team. You need to show us and the baseball world that you can come up with some creative and sensible solutions that will actually help the team going forward(2012, 2013). 2011 is lost. You are going to need that on your resume if you ever hope to get another job once your narcissist enabler is gone and your ineptness is not overshadowed by his vanity and greed.
Think we have to face facts – this franchise is dead as long as Frank & Furter are in charge. One doesn’t care and the other is dumber than dog shit. Whatever they do, it always makes the club go backwards. Its to the point where I’d almost like them to totally destroy it so that Frank ends up with nothing. I’d take an expansion team over this mess any day.

I can’t understand why MLB is trying to knock itself out by providing an alternative debtor financing plan for Frank that is so much less expensive than what Frank has been able to secure himself, and even offering it without taking any security. Why not let Frank just sink under his debt load. They’re not going to play nice together anyway. But then again it’s MLB, which is probably as screwed up as Frank anyway.
Somebody needs to push Frank in front of a bus – enough of the nice guy stuff. If Frank and Ned aren’t gone by the end of the season, I’m really going to get nasty.

Bear, Frank is smart and shrewd. My guess is he does not want the MLB deal because doing so gives MLB a more powerful position, perhaps even putting someone from MLB in a management position that had some teeth to it. The third party lender can get away with charging high fees and interest because of the risk it is taking. I don’t think Frank really cares about the high fees or interest. He does not seem to pay anything back anyway and clearly he is still holding out for the golden parachute a media deal would give him. MLB is not trying to help McCourt but to put him in a weaker position.
I hope you’re right. I could understand the MLB financing if they made a condition that MLB be allowed a trustee to supervise the whole deal and how the funds are spent.
It is my understanding that if the judge chooses to accept the MLB debtor in place loan instead of Franks PayDay loan, then MLB will be in a better position to seize the team and sell it. Or at least have more say in how the money is used. Also, the loan from the hedge fund is secured against Dodger property and assets. If Frank defaults, the lender would seize that property and sell it to recoup their money. Much like when Fox took the Boston parking lot that Frank used to help buy the Dodgers and didn’t repay the loan it was used to secure.
This is probably the information from MLBs investigation into Franks tangled web of spin off corporations to siphon money into his personal bank accounts.

Remember, Frank still has to deal with Jamie at some point. She is sitting back quietly waiting for her big payday. Frank has no security against her claims should she prevail in the dispute over assets. The lawyers are the only ones who win.
As to comments made above by NSB about trying to embarrass Frank. If dragging your family, including your sons, into a public battle and airing out all your dirty laundry is not enough, I doubt there is is much left. Frank and Jamie should be ashamed.
I have to agree with you Birky. The attorneys and Jamie are in no lose positions. Also, Frank is incapable of remorse or shame. He would not be phased by a packed stadium of fans with anti McCourt signs and chants. He’d probably be somewhere else laughing it off while he counted their money.

As far as I’m concerned, the only thing left of the Dodgers is the name. Everything else that was once the great franchise has been raped and plundered. I’m all for letting Frank have this mess, and the stadium, and the land, and the parking lot and going after an expansion franchise. Build a downtown stadium, call them the Stars and have at it in 2015 or 16.
There are rumors for a downtown stadium. Several people have mentioned it. Have you heard anything about this? Nellyjune and I were talking about it some time ago and, we thought it would be a good idea….only if Frankrupt isn’t the owner.
Only in speculative conversation. Its a great “what if” discussion if Frank lost the team, but kept the stadium and parking lot. That would be a scenario I could go for also. Someone buy the team, get the city to build a downtown stadium, rent Angel Stadium until its complete, and leave Frank holding the bag for his half billion+ of debt.
As much a I used to love the Ravine…it’s not the same. It used to be pristeen…no advertising on the walls and, a very affordable place to take your family to enjoy the game. I think if people are true Dodger fans, they would go see them, no matter where they played.

Remember those days not so long ago when there were boats and cars given away? When the stadium was still sparkling with fresh paint, no billboards other than the two plex circles atop the two outfield scoreboards? Union 76 and Coca Cola. It was classy and clean.

Obviously, I’ve spent my entire life going to Dodger stadium. I live in Orange County five miles from Angel Stadium…what to do ? I would have driven the 35 miles to catch a game, than be in my own backyard going to Angel games.
Maybe, I’ll have try and find some passion for the Angels…after all the players dont feel loyalty. Eithier has already stated a desire to sign somewhere else. What is it I’m holding on to ? Maybe its Just Vin Scully and I would be really surprised if he makes it back.

I said this on Facebook and I will say this here. I have not read a single quote from Andre himself saying he doesn’t want to play for the Dodgers. Unknown sources and trade rumors are all rumors, nothing else. Andre not knowing where he will be next season is different than saying he doesn’t want to be here. His “so-called” desire to play for the Red Sox is coming from the Red Sox camp (fans, writers). His desire to play for the Dbacks is nothing new, and he himself said when he’s 38. All this talk about him complaining and whining is all rumors. So, until I actual read/hear an actual quote from Andre himself, then I refuse to believe he is saying publically he wants out. Thinking and saying are two different things. Hhowever, he wouldn’t be normal if he didn’t “think” it under the current circumstances.

I’ve been reading that Franks only source of income right now is ticket sales, concessions, and parking. Cutting off that revenue is like cutting off the head of the snake. When Jamie doesn’t get hers, she will put added pressure on Frank to sell the team. The fans that continue to attend the games and put money in Franks pockets are just sheep being led to the slaughter. They deserve what they will ultimately reap.

Oh, Frank isn’t making any money directly from the Dodgers. His meager $5M comes from the rent he pays himself through one of his entities. Not only that, he increased the rent both last year and this year. What a prick.

What a laugh; Frank can’t afford to support Jamie’s lifestyle. This is just hilarious; Frank wants Jamie to rent or sell some of the 7 houses (used to be 8 until the judge forced a sale on one) that same lifestyle supported before the divorce and subsequant financial problems. Frank and Jamie deserve each other.

Yankees and Reds both have multiple top ten catching prospects in their minor league system, and, both need a starting pitcher. We could probably get a decent catching prospect from one of them for Kuroda. Just a thought. We really don’t have any long term catching prospects in our farm system and their aren’t any good catchers available in free agency after this year.
Reds and Red Sox also have a top ten 1B prospect in their systems. Both need a starting pitcher and are set at 1B for awhile with Votto and Gonzales.
With Neddy, he will get somebody and, we will all say “Who!”

Funny – they also are looking for a bat, an outfielder’s bat. In a bleacher report, these were the top 2 of 7 teams who could benefit from having Andre in their lineup.
Thanks Nelly. I did not know that. Ethier could definately bring us back a good haul if they decide to trade him. That is if Ned is not doing the dealing. I wouldn’t trade him to them unless we got their top 1B, 3B, and C prospects.

I don’t normally pay attention to Bleacher Reports, but this one was hard to ignore when the headline was all about Ethier. The good thing for Andre is all of those 7 teams are in contention right now. However, all rumors at this point.
As much as I’d hate to see Ethier depart, I would like to see him playing for a quality contending team and get a shot at a ring before his playing days are over. I don’t see that happening here for a long while and probably never if Frank is the owner.

What a sad state of affairs we are discussing for which team we would like to see Ethier play while he is still under contract to the Dodgers.
Not nearly as sad as discussing the ongoing McCourt-MLB debacle, Neds ineptness, or Uribum, Nobatro, Barfajas, and Fecal.
Very sad indeed lbirken :(. Somebody brought up last night that Andre (his Bobblehead Night) has been the only thing, outside the Angels series, that has brought the “actual” attendance to normal or above range. There is something to be said about his impact on the fans of this ballclub. Add that to the voting to get him on the All-Star Team. If you mess with that, Frank and Ned will be hated even worse, if that’s possible at this point. As the original Ethieraholic, I ultimately want what’s best for him. If we get new ownership, I would hope they would find a way to at least keep him, Matt, and Kersh (and possibly James – haven’t given up on him yet), and take a chance something good would come with new ownership. However, if this ownership issue doesn’t get itself resolved in a timely manner (oh yea right!) and/or Frank is still the owner, then I would allow him to move on and play with a team that has the potential to be great!! As for now…… Andre is ours, Matt is ours, along with Kersh, Billz and James, and I am going cherish every moment that they are with this club. GO DODGERS!!!
What I think the $2M means Nells is that we’ll be losing what’s left of our top prospects so that Frank doesn’t have to spend any money on salaries for PVLs.
Yep, we’ll probably end up sending a good prospect to Toronto for Rivera so Frank does not have to send any money back.

Kershaw winning with less than his best stuff made me think of an at bat Mays had against Koufax in San Francisco I saw on the tube. Sandy was struggling, for him it was struggling, and Mays had to work just to stay in there. It went on for quite a while, with them taking turns stepping out of the box and off the mound. I don’t even remember how it turned out, just two of the best going at it with Vin’s commentary.
