How will you spend Father’s Day?
On behalf of everyone at the Dodger organization, we want to wish all the Dads out there a Happy Father’s Day.
If you’re coming out to the Stadium, bring your glove so you can play catch on the field with your father/son after the game. And check out the ceremonial first pitch from Tom Gordon to Dee Gordon and Tony Gwynn Sr. to Jr., plus snag a new BBQ Apron from Farmer John.
If you’re not making it down here, tune in on KABC 790, KTNQ 1020 or on PRIME Ticket, where they’ve got lots of Father’s Day content in store throughout the game. You can hang out and watch with your kids or your Dad and make it a day to remember.
You can also watch Tony Gwynn Sr. talk about his son here and read about how Tom Gordon helped change Dee’s career path here.
And if you do nothing else for your Dad today, make sure you educate yourself on how to “keep Dad in the game” through the prostate cancer foundation. It’s supported by so many people – including Tommy Lasorda and our Dodger rep, Mat Kemp. Early detection is so important and you can literally save your father’s life.
Thanks for the new thread, Josh.
Well my dad has been a fan of the Dodgers for as long as i can remember. I remember when i was little when he was working out in the yard or the garage he would carry his radio around to hear the game and watched it every time when it was aired weather in black or white or when we first got our color tv he always enjoyed the game. To this day i still put it on for him and we sit there and cheer them on even at the young age of 101 he won’t miss a game my dad was born on Sept. 19 1909 he may well be your oldest fan.
Happy Fathers Day!
FRUSTRATING is the word. Try as hard as we can, and we can’t get past those Padres to last place in the division. I’m almost ready to give up on that quest. It’s not that we don’t deserve it – Ned made sure of that – but we still have a couple of pieces on this team that work like we’re designed to win something. Well, maybe come trade time, Ned can still saddle us with a PVL or two that can enable us to go all the way, DOWN I mean.
*
Love to hear about all those EMPTY SEATS. Keep sticking it to Frank until Bud lowers the boom on the bastard.
I see that the Marlins’ manager Rodriguez resigned after his team’s low standings this season.
That’s quite unheard of these days, not that I expect Ned or Donnie to have that kind of honor system. Can’t wait for a new owner to come and clean out the coaching ranks and all the front office big wheels – a bunch of IMPOSTORS all.
What about daughters?
Happy day to all pops out there! My son made me a nice breakfast. And a heartfelt goodbye to Clarence Clemons, Springsteen’s “Big Man” and part of the soundtrack of my younger, glory days…
Welcome back Kuo and Ellis.

Hello and welcome to today’s edition of Bad Baseball.
.
<———– with your host, Leonard Pinth-Garnell
.
Today's game promises to be particularly dreadful with the last place Astros of Houston, Texas and the even more inept Dodgers of Los Angeles, California. Ooh it looks like we're just about to start with the opening pitch…
There. That wasn’t so good now was it?
I’m thrilled we made it past the first inning without a run scored against us 😉
Our team not scoring….no surprise there.
So against Norris in the past:
Blake – 2 for 2 (1.000 avg.)
Ethier – 1 for 1 with a 2-run HR (1.000 avg.)
Kemp – 2 for 2 (1.000 avg)
lol before today so do we have a chance or not? lol I thought Gordon was going to walk.
So much for those 3 already 0/3.
Nice post from Ms Hernandez, and I hope her pops is still with us to see a resurgent Dodgers.
Hiroki…..WTF?!
Whew…finally!
I detest walking guys that are hitting under .230.
Even though he’s 4/8 with 2 doubles and 2 rbi’s the series.
Geez, Loweeney, what’s the hurry?!
Padres lost. We are safe.
Stunningly awful.
You look stunning 😉
Thank you Tru! I am trying add an air of dignity and panache to our proceedings.
Sure you are!
Oh that hurt a .176 hitter beat the Padres.
Is it just me, or, is Kuroda not very good?
Note the two out error and walk combo, followed by a devilishly poorly timed wild pitch. Brilliantly bad.
As a team, we are brilliantly bad!
Tell me why Thames is better for us than Sands was?
Or, for that matter, the Aussie too! He kind of sucks also.
That’s next week’s show – Bad Banjo Hitting Left Fielders.
We’ve had many of those.
That didn’t do anything for one’s olfactory senses now did it?
(_|_) ~~~~
I think Neddy was brilliant the way he put this fabulous team together.
I need some No-Doz…..the brilliant hitting in this game is making me sleepy.
Look how deliciously inept each and every one of the Dodgers’ hitters are, reaching depths heretofore unheard of.
( ( 😉 ) )
Waaah!
Think Bourne wants some cheese to go with his whine?
Who cut the cheese?!
Ahhh and what a vintage performance we’re seeing from the Dodgers’ line-up this matinee.
it’s quite amazing to see how we look so good awinging and coming up empty.
*swinging
I’m sorry to report this, but, the crowd looks pretty decent today.
I sure am happy to see the great Dodger crowds return on this splendid Father’s Day to help me celebrate my victory in court over my former girlfriend.
Pretty good crowd is far from a sell-out, Frankie.
Hmmm, I was thinking about changing my avatar to something a little less provocative, but looking at yours, trublu4ever, I think I’ll keep it as it is.
I have a few splendid photos you can borrow 🙂
lol now reveal the real person under that name.
lol wow 1-18 record this month.
I’ve seen several of yours. Perhaps you could recycle a few of them. I haven’t had sex for almost 2 years.
( 🙂 )
Poor Kuroda he probably wish he went to the Yankees or Red Sox.
Brilliant pitchers duel.
Oops, here comes the collapse.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO….not GrrRear!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We could really do Kuroda a favor. He has been quite decent. Why not trade him to either the Yankees or the Sox for a couple of decent prospects. It might do us some good in the future, while having Kuroda this season is going to do us ZIP in any case.
Corporan is quite the hitter. Perhaps Ned could pick him to replace Barajas.
lol are get Bengie out of retirement? I just had to say it.
That’s an excellent suggestion, messagebear! Ned! Trade Kuroda ASAP for some of the old Yankee Stadium memorabilia. We can save the rest of Kuroda’s salary for the rest of the year and we can get some more by putting up the seats and bricks and whatever else we get on eBay.
The Astros got the 2nd worst bullpen in the NL.
Time to shut them down again Bailey and get that 3 games sweep.
Make that Fuentes.
Way to go Brian Fuentes…got the gnats out in the 9th!
Note how they build into a crescendo of anticipation, then hit nothing but flat notes. Perfectly hideous.
Is it me, or, are two hits through 7 innings, pretty bad?!
I love pitching duel to bad this game is done now.
P$id Attendance: 44,665
Holy shit…of all people Navarro with a bomb!
Holy shit Navarro no he didn’t.
Dioner’s surprise Fathers Day gift!
Yeah, Dioner!
You’re the MAN!
Gordon was trying to get a bunt single?
Even Vinnie said “of all people” referring to Navarro’s home run.
Nice surprise to see you Nelly.
I was watching, but I had to share time with the other game that the A’s won. Plus, Denny and his win today too 🙂
Good job by the pitching staff today…..very pleasant surprise.
WINNING! streak
Thank you Javy!
We don’t need no stinky Broxton. I bet the Astros wish they save some of the run in last night game.

Rory McIlroy is killing everyone in this US Open.
Somebody call the police!!
LMAO!!!!!!
Whether it’s true or not, this is exactly the kind of thing that is now making the Dodgers (the Organization) suspicious at best. Tony Jackson said he heard it second hand, but it was said that as of now, security is no longer to give away foul balls to the fans in the stands. Why? Because they cost $8 a piece.
That’s exactly why he is McCheap!
Pretty soon, they will have pay toilets…imagine the money they could make after all of the beer consumption!
Good Morning ITDland. It’s going to be a splendid day in my neighborhood. Hope the same for you. I see, tonight, we get to face Brad Penny. If there is one game I really want, it’s this one! So, please, Dodgers, bring the bats with some hits in them.
Just heard that MLB will NOT approve McCourrts’s Fox deal. I am extremely optomistic that the Frankie saga is finally coming to and end.
Where did you get the info? If it’s true, we should all be celebrating 🙂
It was on my Facebook page. Somebody got the information from Yahoo.
Thanks, Tru!
I can’t find anything to verify this, however. When I click on his link, it says pge cannot be found. Will check this out some more.
Wooooo Hooooo!!! Excellent news!!!!
Sit tight – perhaps Yahoo! was a little premature in their article.

Do the right thing Bud! Make Frank SELL THE TEAM!
Thanks, STT.
I knew I shouldn’t have trusted Yahoo 😉
That suck for the Cardinals Pujols out 4 to 6 weeks.
Who cares about Pujols – like we need another guy signed up for $250 million. Nothing like a broken wrist to slow you down from the really big money.
Wow you must really had a piss off night.
Some of you may enjoy this writ-up. It’s rather lengthy, and I haven’t gotten through it yet.

Frank McCourt Must Go

I bet everyone wanted Votto. I bet the Dodgers would’ve taken Votto over Loney now if they had to do it over.
The SHOWDOWN cometh…
Great to see that Bud has announced his decision.
Flush Frank down the toilet; flush all his cronies down too – especially Ned and Soboroff, the great political addition. What a pile of crap!
I’m more than Frank’s, political addition. (Hiccup) I’m his Blue Raspberry.
Not posted yet? Okay, I’ll do it. Front page of the LA Times, and still up after almost an hour:
.
Bud Selig rejects Dodgers TV contract, nullifying McCourt divorce deal
.
The settlement between Frank and Jamie McCourt announced Friday was contingent on Commissioner Bud Selig’s approval of a new Dodgers TV contract. A provision in that proposed contract that would have funneled $173.5 million to the estranged couple immediately was apparently unacceptable to Selig, leaving the team’s future in limbo.
.
Here’s the article: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-mccourt-fox-selig-20110621,0,6709990.story
Sweet! Thank you, NSB!
.
As for Bud Selig – okay, that’s one good decision for you.
YAY!!!!!
NA, NA, HEY, HEY….KISS HIM GOODBYE!!!!!
This Bud’s for you!
This is why people hate you boss http://itsaboutthemoney.net/archives/2011/06/20/commissioner-selig-frank-mccourt-must-go-a-petition/

First Post-Selig Decision Lineup

Gordon SS
Uribe 3B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Loney 1B
Thames LF
Navarro C
Carroll 2B
Kershaw P
( 😉 ) thanks, STT
SOSDD.
That is freaking wrong I rather have Loney bat 2nd.
Of course you might have to flop Ethier and Kemp.
I’d love to flop Andre & Matt 😉
I hope the next thread makes some acknowledgment of the MLB decision concerning the Fox deal. A fair and balanced view would also allow for the possibility that Frank McCourt is a worthless disgusting puke of a shithead who deserves to be put out of baseball permanently.
Dodgereric & Bear ~ this one’s for you: Dodger employees can now park in the stadium parking lot instead of the satellite lot because of low attendance.
I’m still laughing at that pay toilets idea lol.
Not quite sure what all this means as of yet so until we know for sure that the McCourt era has officially ended, I will remain cautiously optomistic. After reading the article posted above that describes all the various entities under Frank’s control, it may be a long time getting rid of and recovering from the coniving McCourts. In addition, I think hailing Bud Selig as a hero is a bit premature. This is far from over and had the commissioner done a better job of qualifying the McCourt’s in the first place and monitoring their activities, perhaps we would not be in this situation. I wonder how much influence the commissioner has over the business activities of the owners but then again, the owners hire the commissioner and he serves at their will. I do applaud Selig’s concerns about the Fox deal and how it will affect the fans and the organization. I just wish he had been more diligent in the first place.
lbirken – Great summary and I agree wholeheartedly. I look at this decision as the first step in the right direction.
Finally. McCourt ought to read the writing and just go. Let the team get on the road back.
Might one also assume that there may be no ITD Day at the ballpark this year, and that Frank may not be willing to communicate with the ITD bloggers any time soon?
Good afternoon all! I’m lbirken in being cautiously optimistic about the TV decision, and also think Bud is trying to clean up the mess that he allowed to happen. Let’s hope this is the first step on the slippery slope that slides Frank right out of LA. I would take either Mark Cuban or the Garvey-Hershiser-Billionaire group here in LA! And no, no public ownership of the Dodgers, as we would have some of those morons on the city council on some oversight committee, along with Villaraigosa smiling for the cameras at every game. We need a GOOD private owner!
*with lbirken….
Bear, as I am sure you know, Frank and Jamie are getting blasted everywhere, not just here.
Correct me if I am wrong but it just occured to me that Mr. Selig did not come in with the heavy hand until it became clear to him (and MLB) that the Dodgers were experiencing a noticeable decline in attendence. Don’t the other clubs share a part of the revenue from ticket sales? As long as the Dodgers meet payroll and the fans keep coming, would Mr. Selig have done anything?
I’m surprise Ned didn’t even try to get this guy back and come out of retirement but let’s Paul go and kept Thames and DFA Gibbons.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6138/career;_ylt=ArkCS2meInH8lYK8plSE_yiFCLcF
Happy Belated Bday former Dodgers Mientkiewicz.
If Frank sues, let’s go all the way in – if he can’t make payroll, don’t have MBL pay, but declare everybody a free agent and close down the season on Frank, PERIOD.
I’d even give up the Dodgers as we know them for a year or so, just to see Frank absolutely RUINED.
Bear, interesting idea but you know MLB will never do such a thing. My guess is Frank has not violated any MLB agreements by creating all those companies. Some would probably call what he did genious and who knows, other owners might be doing the same thing. Frank made the same mistake all the banks and financial geniouses made that led to the horrible recession: they never figured the bubble would burst and probably didn’t much care.
……and the bubble wouldn’t have burst if Jamie hadn’t slept with the chaffeur 🙂
Are you saying that a loose screw made everything fall apart for the Dodgers?
Pretty much sums up Jamie & Frank doesn’t it bear? One is a loose screw and the other has a screw loose.
The best laid plans….
Laid back….
\ l / \ l /
Superbly flexable.
Well, this team is Whorrible!!!
The Big Easy 😉
Whole lotta nobody at the game so far…
Wow….the bleachers are bare!
Step 1. A loose screw
Step 2. Frank finds out
Step 3. Divorce papers
Step 4. MLB investigates
Step 5. MLB rejects the Fox deal
.
How many more steps before Frankie is gone?
I’m hearing he won’t be able to make the payroll.
Ya gotta figure Jamie is going to chime in here soon. She’s hurting for cash.
I think we should move to the thread Beav suggested earlier in the day.
.
I don’t believe it…URIBE a homer!
OK Trumom, let’s go here.
