And that’s how you end a losing streak…
What an incredible finish today. Facing the prospects of a five-game losing streak and our first four-game sweep at home against the Cardinals in decades, Chad Billingsley came out dealing. But after the Cards took a 1-0 lead on a bloop hit in the top of the ninth, Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp came through in the bottom of the ninth, as they have consistently all season.
Andre’s double to lead off the inning extended his hitting streak to 14 games and then Matt Kemp deposited a pitch over the wall in dead center field for his second career walk-off homer. That will hopefully make him feel better about his Lakers losing Game 1!
It was hardly the type of four-game series we were all hoping for but hopefully this game will get the team back on track . The Braves come to town tomorrow night, Tuesday night (Fernando Fleece Blanket), Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon (half price food and soft drinks).
Hope to see you all out here…
Dodgereric ~ 27,439 🙂
Like on the other thread that would be around 49%.
Thanks for the new thread Josh!!!! Billz did an amazing job today. Matt and Andre did their job when it counted, but without Billz’ performance, it wouldn’t have made a difference. Brox owes them all a very big thank you and possibly dinner on him 🙂
Brox basically shits his pants and comes out smelling like a rose!!! Bullshit!!! He should be buying Andre and Kemper steak dinners tonight!!!
Don’t let it get lost. The fact is, Uribe, Loney, Barajas, and Miles go 2 for 12, no runs, no rbi’s…., 5 strikouts, and 5 LOB…. We got lucky that Billz was on today and Kemper and Andre continue to come up big!!!
Andre and Matt ARE the offense. The rest of these stiffs should be in the minors or rocking chairs. Where’s Sands? It would be nice to at least have three guys in the line-up that you pay attention when they bat.
Thanks Beav, I don’t mean to rain on the parade!! It is a nice win and Billz deserves super kudos along with Matt and Andre. Other than that?
Funny we finally get a new thread when there’s something halfway positive.
.
Just sayin…
:))) We’re gonna see alot of funny things this season Beav!!!
LMAO!!!!
I imagine Josh is up to his eyeballs in alligators right now!!! Thanks Josh!!! We appreciate all your doing!!!!
Not that we have somebody who can replace Brox, but Joe Nathan (Twins), after blowing two straight saves, has stepped down from his closing position. A class act in my book!!
Don’t forget Rodney lost his job also to Walden.
Joe didn’t get replaced. He stepped down. At least he recognizes there needs to be a change. I applaud him, and I am sure his team appreciates him for it too. I am not saying I think Brox should step down. I am just recognizing and giving kudos to a player who is doing what is best for his team.
Wow the Cardinals could be 12-4 instead of 8-8 if they didn’t have Broxton #2 lol.
You know it bad when the Dback had more fans at their game than us.
26,195 (53.8% full) – % is based on regular season capacity
Well n/m my eyes must be mess up lol
Hang in there Shad!!! Frank McCourt is using smoke and mirrors to try and keep the Dodgers!!! Don’t let him fool you!!!
But since there capacity is smaller than our they would get a better % with less fans.
Yep!!! But Frank is pulling the wool over the fans eyes!!!!
Hey Shad, where are you from? Are you a Californian, or from somewhere else!!!
I wonder if the players’ paychecks have a happy face on them along with an IOU? 🙂
I’m sure Frank is tickled and putting happy faces on the checks he writes to Manny, Phew, and Andruw!!!! I can’t understand why he hasn’t fired Ned!!!!
Not to mention Schidts check!! You’ve got to wonder what Ned has on Franky!!!!
Check out my video of the walk-off:
SWEET!!!
Amazing what a change of environment does to a player. Russell hit his 4th home run, and it’s on the 2nd week of the season. …….and people wonder why “some” players want out.
:)))
Yep Nelly, you gotta wonder if Andre was sending a message to Ned and Frank with his earlier remarks. I think he was.
I think he new exactly what he was saying and who it was directed to.
No doubt!!!

Sorry D4, you will fill it up faster if it were a losing grid!!
That ain’t happening!
Think Blue Baby!
It’s just one shot away!
Just, just, just, a kiss away, yeah!!!
Great win today! I fear today may have been the highlight of our season
Not to worry Swood!! We will get a few more my friend!!! Not gonna make the playoffs however. But we can make it hard for the G’nats and Rocks!!!
We’re definitely winning the World Series this year.
LOL!! You’re obviously living in an alternate universe!!!
Jhall, can’t you recognize sarcasm when you see it?
.
.
.
……. it IS sarcasm, isn’t it Dodgerfilms?
Not sarcasm, by the way. Dodgers are definitely winning the World Series this year.
Jhall – out of the 4 videos you posted, I was only able to watch one if them (the last one). I am computerless at home and using my phone so maybe it’s just me. Loved the one I saw though!!!
Wow, I saw the attendance on ESPN and I just kept looking at it. Twenty-seven thousand, four hundred and thirty nine. They have to have more season-ticket holders than that. Don’t they? Are that many people getting on board?
,
2010 attendance (8 games) – 371,764
2011 attendance (8 games) – 321,912
.
Nearly 50,000 down already? 🙂 🙂
.
I know I gave the “ITD Treatment” to Arlo Guthrie’s “Alice’s Restaurant” a couple of years ago, but I need to redo a little piece of it because, dammit, the situation demands it.
.
And the only reason I’m singing you this song now is ’cause you may know somebody in a similar situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if you’re in a situation like that there’s only one thing you can do and that’s walk into Dodger Stadium whatever you are doing, just walk in say “I’m not giving mccourt a nickel of my hard-earned money”. And walk out. You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he’s a nutcase and they’ll just ignore him. And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they’re both idiots and they’ll ignore both of them. And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking in singin a bar of Alice’s Restaurant and walking out? They may think it’s an organization. And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in singin’ a bar of Sell The Team and walking out. And friends they may thinks it’s a movement. And that’s what it is, the Sell The Team Anti-Massacree Movement, and
all you got to do to join is sing it the next time it come’s around on the guitar……..
Doggone it! Since I can’t edit it, YOU need to replace “Alice’s Restaurant” with “Sell The Team”……..
YOU’RE DONE, MCCOURT!! DONE!!!!!!!!
.
SELL THE TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jhall – Now, I am definitely not going!! The guilt will be too much. It is all in the look!! LOL!!
.
BTW Ward Dear – Wally thinks you should change your avatar to a voodoo doll paperbag 🙂
.
Fabulous job on the new and improved song!!!
I agree with jhall, you and tru get a bye for that game.
.
I’ve got an idea about changing my avatar, but I’ll need the help of my pal who constructed the one I’m using now. Thing is, there has to be a paper bag over his head while still seeing his head.
Nope!!! Not doing it!!! My drive for wanting Frank gone is stronger right now, and I have no problem supporting the players at AT&T Park with the rest of the Nor-Cal Dodger fans. As much as I dislike the gnats, at least they have an owner that cares about the players, the employees and the fans. If Frank cared about any of them (in any order), he would sell the team because that is what is in the best interest for all involved.
BTW – Congrats to your driver today!! It was a great race other than the 22 crashing a few too many of the good guys today.
Sorry Eric, not doing that! I am not walking away from what I love to do.
.
Some season tix holders did not come back because the price went up and some went up even more for being in the first row. But some of us love the game and the Dodgers too much to punish ourselves by staying away. Yes, we’ll find some games long and frustrating but we’ll see some like today where there was a great pitching dual and a walk-off homerun!
.
Broxton was unluky today giving up that dunker.
Emma, this is the US of A. You are entirely within your rights to go to Dodger Stadium or whatever you wish. Same with anyone else. I’ll fight to the death to maintain that right, whether I agree with you or not.
.
And as I’ve said before, it’s a lot easier for me to “sacrifice” attending games when I live 90 miles away. If I still lived in West Covina, Fullerton or San Dimas, it would mean more. But I don’t.
.
But, as much as I’m firm in my beliefs of your rights, I’m absolutely resolute in these beliefs as well:
.
1) I love the Dodgers
2) I miss the way the Dodgers used to be
3) I miss the high esteem in which the organization used to be held
4) I’m embarrassed by the way the owner has dragged the Dodgers through the muck and the mire
5) I’m absolutely positive that we’re watching the last of Kemp and Ethier in Dodger Blue
6) I cannot abide the thought of him owning the team for one more moment, let alone him passing it along to his sons. Look who they’ve had for a role model
7) I believe the only way to rid ourselves of this cancer is to drop the attendance
8) I won’t be able to look at myself in the mirror unless I continue my attack, poor as it is
Interesting. I don’t remember putting a smiley face in there anywhere…….
Ditto!! Well said Dad!!
My feelings exactly!
Well Junie, there’s always eBay, I guess.
You bet!!! 🙂
You’re True Blue Nelly!! Frank isn’t!!!
Thank you Emma, Boss and I truly apprieciate you. Without fans like you that keep coming boss wouldn’t be able to support his extremely reasonable lifestyle. After all everyone needs and is entitled to have 6 or 7 houses, and to have his or her hair done from private expensive stylists, not to mention his support of the legal industry.Beside as long as boss has the fans support, he gets to keep the Dodgers, and I get to be a GM, because we both know that no one else in baseball would give me a job like that.
Eric,
Agree with you with 1-4. I hope that #5 won’t be true but at best, I think we would only afford to keep one. Agree with #6.
.
I truly believe in “I Live for This” slogan in baseball. .
One of the great things about going to Dodger Stadium is the wonderful friends I have made there. Friends from fans to people working there are like my second family. I look forward to batting practice not only to watch BP but to spend time with these friends. I consider Dodger Stadium my home away from home.
.
True Eric, that if I live further it might be different but living in the San Gabriel valley and working in the San Fernando valley, well Dodger Stadium, my home away from home is on my way.
.
Ned,
Believe me, I do it for my own pleasure.
.
My co-worker Ted was telling me “Emma, why are you so chipper on a Monday morning?” I said “Dodgers won yesterday, the Braves are in town now and I came early so that I can be at the Stadium as soon as they open” “You know what a short memory I have, so I’ll forget about the three we lost.”
.
Life is short, got to enjoy what you love to do while you are still able to do it.
“The Dodgers are in good hands”
L. 🙂 M. 🙂 A. 🙂 O 🙂
Emma, I’m really glad for you, and I’m not saying that in my usually sarcastic way. I can understand your feelings and way of life and wouldn’t for a minute disparage any of that. Suffice it to say that people like you who live the Dodger life close up every day deserve a quality ownership and management every bit as much if not more than some of us who follow the team at a distance. I hope you enjoy every moment of the season, as you deserve to.
*
In the meantime I still delight in the declining attendance figures, and I think they’re highly overstated for obvious reasons, because those diminishing numbers bring us closer to the end of this abominable travesty of team ownership and management malfeasance.
*
SELL THE TEAM, ALREADY!!!
Thanks Bear,
.
I heard Mr. McCourt spent spent a few innings in the LF pavilion a couple of days ago and he received a mixed reaction. I saw him go by the other day and he looked pale. He heard mixed comments yelled at him but he responded with “how are you doing?” “are you being treated well at the stadium?”
.
I wish he would have never bought the team but I can’t help but feel a little sorry for him. Is tough enough going thru a divorce without having everything about it go public. I hate that my beloved Dodgers are part of this mess. Count yourself lucky and blessed if you have found your soulmate. Some do not find one, some lose theirs to many circumtances including death.
.
We were commenting with several friends at the stadium about the loan he took to pay payroll. Is a sad state of events. I don’t like seeing many areas closed at the stadium as it means less workers needed. Some of these workers have two different jobs but some do not. In the offseason they work at other jobs that are also seasonal.
.
As you heard, Joe Torre was at Dodger Stadium this weekend. In addition, King Ng was there.
Hopefully Joe Torre and King Ng (not sure if you did that on purpose) go back to Bud and report the Frank is a scumbag 🙂
I know about people losing their jobs. My colleagues are being dropped due to budget cuts left and right. The difference is if Frank is really thinking of this team and organization, he can sell the team. He is no better than our government. A’s a matter of fact, he is exactly like our government. He takes all of our money and uses it for himself rather than putting it back into the programs that really matter.
Nelly,
Oh no! I did not do that on purpose! Big red mark: Kim. I was overhearing someone talking about the movie “The King and I”
I’m having a hard time being motivated for this season. But I am not pressing…
Martin has a 930 OPS and Barajas hitting .198 has a .610 OPS. The idea to bring him back at age 34 having played 120 games two times in 10+ years over Martin who in 5 seasons played 140 games 3 or 4 time shows it all to me. Martin was popular, homegrown, sure a bit of a risk coming off two down years and injury..but even saying all that his upside is way better than Barajas.
You know I hated McCourt the day he fired Dan Evans..but this Coletti guy is the worse. We found our team so depleted that we had to go out and spend 75 million this off season and this is what we get? The idea we became so depleted after making so many trades of young kids over the last 5 years (that could have netted us players not Dotels) and signing so many free agents (all busts basically and Uribe may turn out to be the topper, if that is even possible) is bad enough..But then to go out and be below league avg at so many spots and have so many injury concerns..how does he keep getting a free pass, even from McCourt? His strategy of building a winner is terrible. It’s so obvious..By now we could have built around Kemp/Ethier/Kershaw/Bills with younger better talent. No excuse for it.
Wonderful post!!!!
So glad you are finally back with us, Jason.
I’m a big Martin fan and I am extremely psst off at NED for not resigning Martin. Each time I actually watch a Yankees game all I see is Martin doing GREAT, hitting HR, getting at base, making the throws to get the outs…I knew he was coming back strong after his injury. BUT NOOOOOOO NED HAD TO FOCKET UP!
Ned, you have been doing us a favor.
.
Wait, wait, ITD, hear me out. Look at how the attendance dropped off on Sunday after we lost three straight to the Cardinals. The more we lose, the fewer people go to the games. The more PVL’s that Ned signs (like Uribe), the more we lose. So by having Ned as our GM over these past many painful years, Frank’s revenue will dry up. The less revenue Frank gets, the harder it will be to get personal loans. [ What in the world does a man do to get a $30,000,000 personal loan, anyway? – Inquiring minds have to know.]
.
So, lose, Dodgers, lose. And, Frank…
.
SELL THE TEAM!!!!!
I like it!!!
Once upon a time, I also had the Dodgers as the center of my world. I stopped doing that a long time ago. I think it was when I discovered girls.
.
I hope the new avatar comes over nicely…….
.
SELL THE TEAM!!!
I have only one issue with your avatar, Eric. Frank’s heart is about five sizes smaller than the one on your avatar.
.
One other request – could you put a pin in Frank’s wallet area?
Unfortunately, the gravitar program makes me crop it so that the yellow one in his crotch doesn’t show. 🙂
Oh, also, we all know he doesn’t actually have a heart. I had to sew one on. It’s reflective of what SHOULD be there.
Fantastic!!!!!
L 🙂 V E it !
Nice post, Jason. As usual.
.
SELLTHETEAM, I’m sure there was the usual back-of-the-bar, illegal assurances being done. Thirty mil is a hell of a lot of money and there should be some sort of collateral. (Perhaps some fields somewhere just outside of Phoenix?) Hopefully, this end-run will get Selig embarrased/pisssed off enough to drop the hammer on the owner once and for all.
.
SELL THE TEAM!!!!
Ah, surely ’tis a labor of love…….
.
Sunday’s attendance of 27,439 is the lowest since 27,287 watched the Dodgers play host to Arizona on a Thursday evening, September 9, 2004.
.
Anticipating the next question of you astute Dodger fans, the last Sunday so sparcely attended was earlier the same year, Sunday, April 11, 2004 vs the Rockettes with 27,076 watching.
.
Anticipating one more question, “Why isn’t there any mention of this in the wrap-up of the game?”
.
A: Uhhhhhh………..
Love the voodoo baghead E!!
.
.
.
Hey, when did we lose the italics?
Great bag Dad!!!
Congratulations to Billz for his 10 strike outs this Sunday….and thanks to BROXTON for giving out a HR (TRADE HIM PLEASE)….but thanks to Ethier and of course Kemp for saving the game!
http://www.thelfp.com/blog/2011/04/goodbye-dodger-stadium-and-hello/
Exactly Jhall!!!
Grrrr!
http://bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5174:why-the-mccourt-divorce-may-be-the-least-of-the-dodgers-worries&catid=26:editorials&Itemid=39
That article explains alot, doesn’t it? Good!!! Glad to see employees getting fed up too.
Dodgereric is going to LOVE this 🙂
An additional method to put the screws to Frank: stop watching the Dodgers on TV! I know, that will be hard to do. But if we all stop watching them on TV, Frank’s potential $3 billion deal with FOX will also go bust.
Congratulations to Billz for his 10 strike outs this Sunday….and thanks to BROXTON for giving out a HR (TRADE HIM PLEASE)….but thanks to Ethier and of course Kemp for saving the game!

Broxton did not give up a homerun. MSTI say it better here:
Brandon’s dead on here.
I’ve also never said that Broxton was “back”. I’m just not going to string him up for allowing a hit to a great hitter, being ordered to issue an IBB, and giving up a dinky bloop. Especially not after he set down Rasmus and Pujols to start.
Comment by Mike Scioscia’s tragic illness— April 18, 2011 #
Nelly,
I am seeing the budget cuts too. I have family & friends that are losing their job. I was talking with a co-worker that if we operated like the government, we’ve be in jail.
.
Twice, after the loss of loved ones, going back to Dodger Stadium has been part of my healing process.
Just in case you want to see the Dodgers without putting money to McCourt: you can buy the tix from one of the venues that already have the tix (the tix is already sold). I read someone bought loge for $5. Take the shuttle from Union Station free (pay Union Station $6 for parking), bring in food and drinks. Union Station has Subways, Starbucks, Wetzel Pretzel, Famina store, Baggel place or Phillipes is down the street from Union Station. Metrolink Ventura or San Bernardino trains leave Union Station at 11:p.m. just sayin…
Too bad for Frank that he got divorced. If they were still together, I bet they could get Bravo to create a reality show for them called “The Real Homes of Jamie McCourt” – might be worth some millions.
“The Real Housewives of Frank McCourt”
Wouldn’t mind seeing mccourt’s car getting repo’d by “Lizard Lick Towing”…………
I’d love to see Frank McCourt get skewered by Judge Judy, “Look at me when you answer my question! Ummm is not an answer!”
Looks like they’ve called up Sands!!!
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/04/dodgers-designate-xavier-paul-for-assignment.html
Great news! Let’s bench Loney, play Sands at 1B and bat him right behind Kemp!
Now batting 7th/#47 Jerry Sands
Awesome news!
Very happy to hear Jerry Sands has been called up! 🙂
Tonight’s lineup:
.
Miles 2B
Blake 3B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Uribe SS
Loney 1B
Sands LF
Barajas C
Lilly P
Unfortunately, we still have the big ZEROS batting 5th and 6th.
Yep, this just throws a little smokescreen over the real problems. Uribe and Loney!!!
Way to go Jerry!!!!
Now, don’t everybody rush off to the ballpark to watch the SandMan!
The #1 and #2 batters tonight don’t exactly inspire a lot of confidence either. I expect that the Sands move will eliminate X Paul from the system, and I would rather have given Gibbons his walking papers. Of course, with Ned in charge is anybody surprised by that choice?
Isn’t that the Ned way Bear? Come up with some absurd malady in order to keep a worthless PVL by putting him on the DL, but DFA a kid who’s still better than anyone they’ve trotted out there so far.
In the meantime, let’s shoot for losing another 50,000 fans from last season’s attendance before this homestand is over.
*
EMPTY SEATS is our motto for the season!
Bear – Yup, that’s the only way to DFA McCourt!
It doesn’t open to anything that I can see, but I am computerless though.
Selltheteam – that comment was for Tru – sorry!! Too bad we don’t have delete last post option.
Help…I can’t get this page the way it was before…with the headings at the top (edit profile, etc.) Now when I comment it’s in red….any suggestions?
It doesn’t look red when I read it.
Your trublu4ever is red though.
I want it back the other way. I don’t want to be red 🙂
Before the comment, it has my name, email, and then my name coms out red. Before, it didn’t have all that stuff listed.
The red means you have a website attached. For example if you click on Dodgereric, it will take you to Dodgerlyrics. It could be your e-mail that is attached.
The website is listed as Inside the Dodgers….:) do I remove it?
I would think so.
Hi Everybody
Sade of ’09 yesterday eh? Now tonight it Sands.
Things may be looking up.
The Rox must have given their ball bag to the gnat side. It’s the top of the 1st and it’s already 5-0, gnats, with two rockets over the wall. Have I mentioned how annoying Krud and Krap are? LOL!!!!
It’s early…the Rockies will come back….they always do!
Maybe not…it’s already 7- 0 🙂
Make that 8-0.
W 🙂 W !
Go Rockies just because I say so lol.
Good Evening All….
.
There has been some good discusion today, I have enjoyed reading it all. I agree that we would all, be much better off with new ownership and that low attendance is paramount. That said, I still want the Boy’s whom have a job to do, to be successful.
.
Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go!!
Glad to see the Sands called up and not September to bad he’s batting 7th I would’ve move him up to 5th and moved Uribe and Loney 7th and 8th.
Welcome to the big show Mr Sands!!!
Woo-Hoo!! Way to go kid!!!
Woooo Hoooo for Jerry!!
.
It’s early, but lots of empty yellow seats 🙂
The entire stadium is empty!
Hi’Ya Gals!!! Lets hope those seats stay empty!!!
They aren’t getting any fuller at the moment.
It’s not even a crowd…more like a group 🙂
Dad will be so proud!!!
Bear too 🙂 🙂
I’m glad Lincecum no hitters/shutout is gone and Nomo is still the only pitcher that threw a no hitters in Coors. WTG Sands first major hit and a double to boot should be batting 5th.
Good evening all.
Nice to see an early lead, and a nice welcome to the show base hit for Sands!
hmmmm I wonder why my avatar change to a different color?
Because you are special, Shad 🙂
Wow a weeks output in one inning!
.
.
I’m thinking Loney may benefit from Sands batting behind him vs. that dynamo Barajas.
Hey, Uribe’s up to hitting half his weight!!
Oh, my…Uribe & Loney…back to back hits!
Damn hate seeing Loney average and obp lower than Miles and screw Uribe I want him to fail miserable.
2 for 2 so far? I’m hoping this means Loney’s getting his stroke back…..
Sands got his first hit and then his first RBI…not too bad for his first game 🙂 Wonder how long they will keep him here?
I’d say as long as he hits Tru. You know Ned, first sign of trouble with a youngster and its back to the farm in favor of a PVL.
But, he’s going to put money in Frank’s pocket so, he will probably stay. They are already thinking of calling left field the “Sandlot” 🙂
Sadly, I think that’s why they called him up more than anything – to try and help sagging attendance.
And, a nice catch to boot!
Until he goes 0 for a couple of games and then Ned can bring Gibbons back!!! Geez!!!
I believe, they can keep him up here all year and still retain control until 2017. He would be about 10 day’s short of becoming a Super Two.
When does Navarro get here?
Sands looks to have a great deal of poise. I think we’re going to enjoy watching him. Just so sorry to see the X Man go.
.
Loney looks to be regaining his form. The past number of days, he’s gone from hitting whiffle balls to line drives. Keep up the good work, James.
Hi’Ya Sparky!! Yep, I hate to see X-Paul go also. I hope he gets a real shot somewhere. He never got a decent shot here!!! Sure would be nice if Loney can find his mojo!!!
Nice catch, James!
Even when Lilly is throwing a shutout, its excruciating to follow.
Yep Beav!! He’s a nail biter all the time!!! I hope Donnys’ got the bullpen warm going to the 6th. The wheels fall off of Lilly very fast.
Does anybody think I might be able to trade this Sands kid for Dotel? I mean we really could use another old high price washed up reliever. Also Boss and I really do appreciate your continued support, boss even took out a loan so he could pay himself and me, what a peach of a guy! The other day boss even came to the park to mingle amongst us little people and bestow his greatness upon us, How lucky we all are.
Damn Ned you’re slipping. Don’t you mean Sands AND Lee?
Think bigger, Kep’n.
Broken link… I meant to think THIS big.
Did you know that today is the actual 61st Anniversary of Vin Scully as voice of the Dodgers? Anyway of finding out for sure?If it is, I am surprised it hasn’t been mentioned today already.
I’d highly doubt that Vin would mention it himself – he’s so modest that way. But a quick Google search might be in order.
Google was not helpful at all. Darnnit!
I had the same outcome Sparkleplenty – LOL!!! Dodgereric might come to our rescue with his all-knowing powers 🙂
If anyone has the info, it’d be Dodgereric! No doubt about it 🙂
Yep Nelly, it is the 61st anniversary today. The link from last year is dated 4/19 and refers to the anniversary as yesterday, so, 4/18. I can’t believe the Dodgers didn’t put it on their site or something. What a mess their PR dept must be in these days!! Geez!!!
http://dodgerfan.net/veteran-shares-love-for-vin-scully
Thanks Jhall!!!!
Your welcome!!! Steiner just mentioned it finally!!!
I was trying to hold on to Lee in case we needed to get Posednik back, but if I can’t get Dotel just for Sands, I’ll have to include Lee, especially if Toronto will pay some of his salary, then boss will be really proud of me.
Well as long as you have a sound plan like you always do Ned, that’s good enough for me. 🙂
Nice job Ted Lilly!!!
WTG Dre!!
Alright Andre, hitting streak!!!
15 game streak for Dre….YAY!!!!!
Yeah Andre!!!!! His hitting streak is still alive at 15!!!!
Another great outing by our starting pitchers. Way to go Ted!!!!
Dodgereric – attendance was 28,292 🙂
Woo-Hoo, empty seats!!!
That’s just over half empty or if you prefer just over half full 🙂
28,292 🙂
I think Dodgereric got the message! 🙂
Uribe trying to creep toward the Mendoza line…..
Hold on to your seats and keep your nails away from your mouth – It’s Broxton Time!!!
C’mon Brox, get your act together!!
Good grief!
Oh Geez!!! This is insane!!!
It’s beyond insanity.
Can’t argue with you there!! Oh wow!!!
There's no earthly way of knowing...
Which direction we are going...
.
Once again, back to your regularly scheduled breathing – Whew!!!
CRAP!!!!
There's no knowing where we're rowing,
Or which way the river's flowing...
Are you Willie Wonka today Northstateblues?
It’s just how I felt with Broxton’s performance tonight… on the boat in the freaky tunnel with everyone nervous and going nuts.
You did good because I totally pictured us on that boat!
Whew! It’s a good thing we had a 4 run lead!

Anyone else notice the music playing after Jerry Sands got his first hit (you can see it in the mlb.com clip)?
.
“Enter Sandman”
Woo-Hoo, win streak!!! Congrats Vin on 61 years!!! We love ya!!!
Tonight’s attendance courtesy of Junie and trumom: 28,292
.
Jeez, this is baseball, let’s have some statistics:
.
2010 attendance (9 games) – 412,247 (45,605 average)
2011 attendance (9 games) – 350,204 (38,912 average)
.
Drop of 62,043 total
Average drop of 6894
Extrapolated for 81 games – 558,387
Projected 2011 final attendance – 3,003,931
.
I realize that expecting these numbers to hold up is very unrealistic, but those last two numbers, especially that final number, are significant. The last time we didn’t get 3 million fans in that park was 1995.
OK, I’ve already found an error. That projected attendance should be 3,151,836, so we’re not as close to ducking under 3 million as I had hoped. I blame either the late hour or that I’m stupid. I’ll review the math again tomorrow when I’m more sane and rested.
Wait a bleeping second, did Donny really used Broxton in the 9th in a non save situation?
A win was great, and Sands provides a spark of excitement that most of our lineup does not, at least at this point.
But those EMPTY SEATS delight me beyond all else!
What has to be alarming to Frank is the fact that even though the paid attendance is low, the people who own the tickets can’t unload them on other fans. Dodger Stadium looks like the crowds (I should say groups) in Florida. So, no people, no food, no beer and no souveniers.
I guess he had no chance to used Guerrier more than 1 innings since his turn came up and Donny could have double switch. Broxton should not been in this game and where was Troncoso or Cormier? Donny cannot even trust Cormier 4 games and everytime in a mop up role he giving up runs. Gosh no reason for him to be here and Padilla need to hurry up
Speaking of Vinny 61st anniversary is this the lowest home attendance that Vinny have seen at home.
I love yahoo they don’t play around.

NSB wow really poor Rivera lol.
I hope you Dodger fans will continue to show your appreciation by coming out to the ballpark. After all Boss had to take out a loan from Fox just so he could give himself a much deserved raise, that and to help pay off Mrs Boss, and let’s not forget he has children and psychics to pay from our payroll also, it doesn’t matter that they don’t do anything, it’s the thought that counts. Remember he does all of that for us the little people, and we need to continue to help him do that.
Ned – If you want us at the ballpark, trade Loney, Broxton, and Thames for a first baseman that can hit. Loney only hit last night because of the boot in his buttt named Jerry Sands. I’m sure he will be reverting to his .150 average soon.
Thames stay put for now since he’s not making much and wasn’t so bad with the Yankees but maybe Blake would get trade but damn I’d rather Blake decline than Loney not the other way around.
I didn’t think they were a lot of people that was drafted from MLB Amateur Draft Picks who came from “Catawba College (Salisbury, NC)”
http://www.baseball-reference.com/draft/index.cgi?exact=1&came_from=Catawba College (Salisbury, NC)&exact=1&query_type=came_from

I hope his former manager seen his game last night and Sands is the 2nd players that made his major league debut from this college.
OK its Kurodas’ turn to have a good outing tonight!! We will only go as far as our starting pitching, which wasn’t very good during the 5 game skid!!! After that, it comes down to Uribe and Loney hitting!!! We’ll see what happens going forward and after the Sands hysteria calms!!!
Are you sure you want me to make trades? Don’t you remember my last few deals? I think I’ll stick to what I do best, at least for now , and that’s to kiss boss’s … and help him make more money so he can afford to live like the upper echelon human being that he is.
Hey, Colletti…why don’t you talk your low-life boss into coming and hanging out with us for a while. We’d love for him to know how we feel about what he’s done to our once great organization.
Okay, Ned, no trades. And please ask your boss for an all-expenses paid vacation to Antarctica from July 20th through August 5th with no phone access.
I would L 🙂 V E that, selltheteam!
I wonder who that for real hiding behind that name lol.
Be interesting to see what kind of intestinal fortitude Sands has. He didn’t fare too well after being thrown at last night.
.
I still think that Loney’s sudden 1-game resurgence has less to do with the threat of Sands taking his job and everything to do with Sands hitting behind him. How many good pitches did Loney ever see with Barajas hitting behind him?
That why I wanted him to bat 2nd just in case.
HAHAHA It is funny to see all these BROWN PAPER BAGS….LOL
Dodgers hire Soboroff as Vice Chairman
.
Thank goodness Frank’s going green at the stadium now that he’s got the security and player personnel issues taken care of.

O.K. Ned – everybody knows what an unabashed kissasss you really are, and it’s good of you to come on ITD and plainly show it. That’s the only way to justify your contract extension and probably the initial contract to begin with. Now, if I could get such a high profile and high pay job with no other qualifications than a brown nose now and then, I would be tempted to become a GM myself. But, as long as you’ve got the job, is it too much to ask for you to get a little bit of baseball knowledge yourself and not keep making the same mistakes over and over again? All you’d need to start with is to keep your eye on this ITD blog, and some good sense is bound to rub off on you. Do you ever do that – NO. You are just totally worthless and a money waster of the highest order. Besides, I really resent you referring to that scumbag upstairs as “boss”. That name was rightfully earned by a guy who was willing and able to put up the necessary money to bring home championships. When is your guy ever going to do that? I even wish that Jamie would get a hold of the team if for no other reason than I think she would fire your sorry asss – after that she can go away too. In the meantime enjoy the EMPTY SEATS you brownnosing windbag.
The hiring of Soboroff is intriguing. He is well connected, I think fairly well respected, and has actually accomplished some things in his business career, which makes him the complete opposite of Frank McCourt. Not sure how Frank can afford Mr. Soboroff but since Frank never does anything with his own money, why should I worry about that? If Soboroff can make a positive impact on the Dodgers, I am all for that. I am a bit curious why he would put his repuation on the line and take direction from Frank, who has no credibility and no respect from the customers. Could there be more to this hiring? We shall see.
I attended last Saturday’s game (a real stinker) and noticed how sparse the crowd was for a Saturday night game against a pretty good Cardinals team led by Albert Pujols. There were a lot of fans dressed in Cardinal gear and a huge police presence outside the stadium. They don’t even announce the attendence at the stadium but clearly fewer fans have bought tickets this season. However, I saw something in the paper recently that suggested attendence is down at other places as well, so it is hard to tell if the loss of attendence at Dodger Stadium is due to ownership, the performance or appeal of the team itself, or something else.
I am sure some has to do with the economy. Our gas prices alone hurt enough that most could use that $15 to park for three gallons of gas instead.
.
Glad to read you lbirken!!! Always love reading your two cents worth.
Sands look like he improve his base stealing and goes from 1/1 to 4/9 to 15/20 and with Lopez it would really help him big time.
Ned’s not so bad.
Frank, I got a message for you.
.
SELL THE TEAM!
Don’t want to.
I need to go get my hair cut. I’ll be back later to answer any and all questions.
Frank, what’s the plan to increase the fan base beyond the 25,000 tickets sold tonight? And the 12,000 that will actually show up?
How come you haven’t sued Sphunt, seems like that’s the one guy you should of sued?
Soboroff sounds like a high quality guy, but will he get 100 RBI’s? I see this just as another smokescreen to add some class to the suckassses in the front office. He’s not going to fill those EMPTY SEATS
Well Bear, you know what they say:
“If you can’t dazzle them with integrity and grace as an owner, ingenuity and foresight in the GM chair, and a decent product on the field; then, BAFFLE THEM WITH BULLSH*T!!!“
Tonight’s lineup
.
Carroll SS
Blake 3B
Ethier LF
Kemp CF
Uribe 2B
Loney 1B
Sands LF
Ellis C
Kuroda P
Soboroff is very brave to roam around the stadium asking people about their customer experience, now that 400 LAPD are there keeping the riffraff out.
Oops, red pen, make that Ethier RF
Well I just hope that nay changes they making to the Dodgers is for Good!
*
SellThe Team thanks for the lineup!
*
Let’s go Dodgers!
Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Sandswood is in the lineup again can’t wait and I get to see him on ch 9 lol.
I hate when guys hit a 3 runs HR’s and than goes on the DL. Why couldn’t Allen Craig go on the DL when he hit that HR?
Good Eveving All…
.
Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go
.
Enjoy the game everyone

Looks like a bigger crowd tonight. However, it’s because of the Fernando fleece blanket giveaway. Funny….we get fleeced by Frank every year 🙂
On second glance….not that much bigger!
LOL!!! :)))
W 🙂 W…..ANDRE!!!!16 games!!!!
Andre with is a sweet 16!!!
Andre is a sweet 16!!!
Will make Nellyjune very happy 🙂
The opposition is finally getting smart…walking Matt to get to Uribe!
Well, you could see that coming!! Kemp isn’t gonna get much to hit with Uribe and Loney coming up!!! Rats!!!
Let’s hope Sands can hit regularly…then maybe Donny will move him up in the order.
No doubt Trumom!! This Uribe deal is right up there with Andruw Jones, Phew, and Sweeney!!! We’re screwed!!!
We’ve been getting screwed a lot the past several years 🙂 🙂
I want all of you fans to know that I’ve been trying my best. Of course if I had any baseball knowledge it would probably help, but that’s of little matter to boss, as long as I kiss his ring everyday and tell him how wonderful he is. Don’t expect boss to meet with you fans, he’s too busy trying to take, er, I mean earn your money. How about that Sands guy, see I can do something right besides comb my stache.
Hard to see the situation with your head in Franks’ rectum!!!
L 🙂 M 🙂 A 🙂 O 🙂
I guess thats why your mustache is sh*tty!!!
I’m sure Frank has given you a pearl necklace!! Only explaination for you still having a job!!
RALLY TIME BOY’S!!
Well, I see Blake’s struck an iceberg and is beginning to sink. No surprise there. Perhaps if he had a glass-bottomed boat he could see Uribe on the way down.
.
I swear, this team could turn Albert Pujols into Aaron Miles just by signing him.
I wonder if Juan is wearing Gibbons’ contacts 🙂
I think Uribe is wearing Neds a**less chaps!!
LMTO!!!!!! 🙂
I thought Kuroda might have been headed for the commoda there for a bit.
Thank goodness, he made it through 🙂
LOL!! Nice VL!!!
Yep, Jerry will be hitting behind Matt, won’t he Donny?
Can we please switch Uribe and Sands in the batting order Donny??
Sands stock is on the rise.
Has anyone thought to check these guys for a pulse?, because the ekg’s pretty flatline.
Well when the GM has a flatline EEG, what can you expect?!!!
C’mon guys, let’s get Kuroda some freaking runs dammit!!!
Might be easier Wally if we weren’t facing the dreaded Brandon Beachy.
LOL!! It’s sad, to say the least!!
Double crap!!!
Urgh 4-3 now.
The LA Kings better now blow that 4-0 lead.
C’mon Shad, we’re counting on you for the attendance tonight son!!!
lol I think it hard to count all the people on tv.
So true, Shad 🙂
They will have mucho blankets to sell!
lol wow the Braves PH suck than and of course Vinny had to jinx it.
Well, we’ve got 3 more cracks at’em!!! Time to get it done!!!
I’m glad Hawksworth dug his way out of that hole.
Let’s Go Dodgers, Let’s Go!!!
Come on uribe and loney get it together here
Hi’Ya Swood!! Yep, we need these two to start getting it done or we’re screwed!!!
Glad to see Andre’s hitting streak is still alive. Sands got a double – good!! Other than that, not much happening around here!!! How is the crowd tonight?
Good to see you Nelly!! Congrats to Michael!!!
Thanks Jhall!! He is doing very well. Before tonights game,he was 9th in the state in strikeouts with 67(adding 10 tonight)in 58.4 innings pitched. His record is 5-0 in league with one no-decision (extra inning game) and 6-1 for the season. He has pitched in 9 games (5 were complete games – 7 inning regulation games. 1 he pitched 7 innings of a 9 inning game, and one he pitched 8 innings of a 9 inning game) . His ERA was at 1.09 (which will go down to .96 due to his shutout tonight)
his WHIP is 0.83 (which should go up a tad). The best part of this season is he hasn’t gotten upset and taken himself out of a game. He has matured and has realized he can’t control what happens behind him when things don’t go well or he isn’t
getting the run support or the calls. Sorry for the long post – it’s proud mom talking 🙂
Still waiting for Vin to give the attendance.
Alot of empty yellow seats for a giveaway night – good!!!
WTF SOB 5-5
Because 18,818 our at Staples Center that a good thing.
I’m surprised they’re bringing in a lefty to face Thames that doesn’t seem very smart
Wow well I guess that’s why…
Another fine Ned acquisition.
UNACCEPTABLE!!™
Why couldn’t they bring in Sherrill?
Another wasted opportunity!
At the end of this game it will probably be Thames AB with a man on 3rd less then two outs where he swings at 3 pitches in the dirt and strikes out that costs us the game.. you said it Wally unacceptable
Arrrrrrrrrrrggggg!!
Thames screwed that inning
No Loney did for tripping and could’ve easy had 2nd bases.
Boy! That sure is a wild one going on at Staples!!! 10 goals through two periods allready…….
You would think by shear chance given the volume that Ned would come up with one decent sign now and then.
Chipper saves there butt so far or else it would’ve been tied.
And, now pitching…McDooDoo!
That was pathetic!!!
Donnie: If y’all are gonna wait for Jerry to be the hero tonight, the least you could do is bat him fifth.
.
At least Uribe can play some D.
41,596
However, there is no way that many people are there!
Thanks Trumom!!!
They all got their blankets and left 🙂
I think so!
lol I’ve been waiting for Vinny to mention it but nothing.
I feel better with macdoodoo out there then brox
Two more cracks!! Thames is an idiot. Why is he trying to swing for the fence. Dammit!! Put the ball in play moron!!!
Agreed Wally, trying to be the freakin hero…
It just boggles my mind Swood!! Do they know how to play the game!!!
Paid attendance & actual gate are vastly different!
Last year’s #10 home game attendance was 39,399 so we made negative progress on the whole empty seat action.
red pen 39,339 even worse
where did my avatar go? Hi ITD.
I swear, the only thing these guys are ever going to be able to hit is bottom.
Too many Walks!
No doubt VL!!
Poor Vinny…he has to sound enthusiastic about this team:)
.
CRAP!!!!
Son of a b…. so much for Jerry’s walkoff in the ninth.
Crap!!! I’m not impressed with Jansen at all so far this season!
Yep, Jansen isn’t ready for prime time. When Padilla and Kuo come back, he needs to go back to AAA!!!
Going to be Troncoso and Cormier.
He look good last year what happen this year?
Well sh*t!! That pretty much seals the deal!!!
Well… Jansens going the wrong direction in a hurry…
lol sophmore slump I guess.
Just an aside, but, who ever decided that Maple bats was a good idea, is as big an imbecile as Ned Colletti!!!
Jansen needs to get more innings than he’s getting with the big club right now. That and the fact that he has Bunnynutts as his pitching coach.
I think it’s coaching. Too many of our young, promising pitchers turn to crap when the come up here. Something is definitely wrong when it is pitcher after pitcher after pitcher that this happens to. Something has to be looked into.
Jansen has Broxtonitis 🙂
BLAH!
One too late for the hook Donnie!
Oh Theres the avatar, odd, like a thames at bat
Should had just brought in Troncoso.
Bullpen ERA is shooting up to the stratosphere!
PATHETIC!!!
Yep, its ugly!!
Might as well post this now so I can go to bed.

Hey Shad, where are you from? Are you a Californian, or from somewhere else!!!
By JhallWally on April 17, 2011 5:26 pm –
I didn’t see this but yes I do and live in Compton and live about 30 min from the Staples Center.
Cool!!!
DFA everyone in the bullpen with ERA over 6+
LOL!! Thats almost all of them!! Ned knows how to pick’em!!!
Troncoso alone has almost doubled his ERA tonight.
I’m so glad our stellar BP is throwing batting practice! Hell, we would have been better off leaving Kuroda in there!
Too many Broxtons in these bullpen.
Good God, I never thought I would miss Bellisario and G-moto!!! What a joke!!! Heh, heh!!!
Can’t wait to hear what Blow and Hummer have to say about it on Dodger Talk!!! F*ckin’ gomer a-holes!!!
The Kings losing just called for a double of “Good Lords” 🙂
I can hear Dodgereric’s “Dear Lord” as well – lol!!!!
Dad is wise!! He stepped away from this charade!!!
Hell, these guys make me miss Sherrill.
Hell, Juanpy could’ve pitched better, and you know how very hard it is for me to say that. Maybe we should give James Loney a shot. It can’t be much worse.
I think you can added Wade 1st year to.
Urgh if the Kings 2nd period was like the 3rd we win 5-0.
Darn shame, Kuroda pitched well and deserved a better fate!!! Pathetic!!!
Braves bullpen ERA damn near the top.
Dodgers Bullpen in the cellar.
Sharks win in OT!
With the whole BP imploding on a nightly basis, how come no one ever looks at maybe replacing Bunnynutts? You’ve got a good pitching coach down the road at Inland Empire…
Good question Beav!! Hell, if Frank wants to improve his public personna, he could just fire Ned and Honeycutt!!! That would buy him some time!!!
That Chipper played broke all of our mementum if we had any.
If this team sucked any harder, Canada would be in my back yard.

Woo-Hoo Nelly!!!
Damn fk 6-5 in OT no freaking way
Well, as SELLTHETEAM mentioned up north, we lost a little momentum due to the Fernando giveaway.

Heyya, jhall! I can’t bear to listen to those idiots, win or lose.
.
I’m betting there’s a China label.
LOL!! Most likely!!! Definately some indigent people working in a sweat shop!!!
I’m sure Frank and Ned are nestled up together somewhere stroking each other and counting your money!!!

Well, actually, we roll around in it – naked!
That explains alot of things!!! No wonder Jamie bolted!!!
Hey you no-good bassstard! You haven’t made things bad enough around Dodger Stadium, now you gotta come on here?
It’s good to be the King.
Yep, Blow and Hummer are just gomers saying whatever to keep their jobs!!! What a couple of sh*t faced blowhards!!!!
That’s right. I don’t hire idiots. Wait, there’s one. No, two. Three. Fourfivesixseven…..
I got home late and turned on the Dodger game. I knew at one point thru 5 innings it was 0-0..So I turned it on again to see we were down 2-0. Middle of the inning and they come back and it shows that Uribe, Loney and Sands will be up. So I turn it off cause the thought of having to watch Uribe and Loney makes me wince because my son is with me. I don’t want him to see me like that. He’s only 3. I decide on the LA Kings playoff home game… who as I flip make it 4-0 F-YA I think….So then I flip back and am shocked to see the score 2-1 with Thames at the plate and one out. 0-1, 0-2 and used. Done, thanks for coming out with runners on 1/3.. Then after the walk..Blake watches a great 1-0 fastball and then swings at 2-0 junk to end the inning. I turn it off. I give Ben a bath..fucking come down stairs and its like 8-1 or something and the kings are tied 5-5. (they lost 6-5) Thank god the Lakers didn’t play. A potential trifecta of suckage would have been to much to bear. But I kissed the kids good night and all will be fine, I don’t take it as hard as I used to.
ps: thanks for the welcome back! how do I get a pic on here??

Another great game last night. We had some real attendance gains. Remember the brand is boss and Mrs boss, the Dodgers come second. I’m sure it made boss happy, and we actually scored a run, see I told you all they were a good team. I also want you to know that boss hired this Steve Sober Living guy just so he could cover his, I mean just so he could improve your fan experience. I hope to see you all at the park tonight.
Hey Ned and Frank,
There is some bad voodoo going on. Having a Dodger in the clubhouse, dugout and the field having a Giants World series Ring is just not good. Get rid of Uribe. Your Psychic didn’t mention this to you? Oh Ned did you think it would be good for club chemistry and morale? The two of you need to go right after Uribe is traded.
It is obvious that Frank is now on a course to resurrect his image. First he hires a co-chairman who has some “gravitas” in the community; then I read that the $400,000 salary paid to a Dodgers executive out of charity funds has been repaid to the charity. All of this is no doubt intended to impress Selig, so Frank can get his necessary loan approval.
Well, don’t believe it for a moment, Bud – a scumbag is a scumbag no matter which way the wind blows, so don’t perpetuate your original mistake of making him and Mrs. owners in the first place.
*
The question might be asked, what can Frank do to resurrect himself with the Dodger fans?
How about firing Ned and maybe Honeycutt too for good measure, as I believe E brought up earlier.
What about it, fans?
Bear ~ at this point, I don’t know who is worse, Ned or Honeycutt. Ned has no eye for talent and Honeycutt is totally useless…so, I say FIRE THEIR ASSSES!!!!!
Hey bear, that’s not nice, You know no one else in the MLB will give me another job other than maybe to park cars or to shine bosses shoes. Just to show there are no hard feelings, I’m going to find us another outfielder. My only qualifications for this outfielder are, he needs to be mature and also be an ex Giant. Does anyone have Willie Mays number?
I see that someone here is posting as boss. I don’t think it’s really him. OK, boss if that’s really you, you’ll have to prove it to me, here’s how. What did you tell me last night after the game. Was it (a) that we have to reduce payroll because you need new shoes, or (b) we have to reduce payroll because you need a new house to put those new shoes in, or (c) you want me to increase payroll so we could actually field a major league team?
I bet the correct answer is both a) and b).
That’s a trick question. It’s (d): None of the above. You know damned good and well that (a & b) I don’t care about the payroll because of my new best friend at Fox and, (c) I don’t care about winning, just as long as those lemmings keep stuffing my pockets. What I told you last night was to go get me a damned cheeseburger and some curly fries.
How can Soboroff, in good conscience… refer to anything Frank has done to a mere hiccup? Philanthropically, the Dodgers can leverage this incredible brand to help people all over Los Angeles,” Soboroff said. “Frank has already started that. They’ve been doing a good job. Now they’ve had a hiccup, and now we’re going to look forward and just start and not have any more hiccups.”
.
.

THAT’S the problem with Frank in the first place. All the Dodgers are to him is a BRAND and not a storied franchise to be treasured and taken care of.
SELL THE TEAM
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, he’s insignificant. He’s just there to put the lipstick on the pig. This will all eventually blow over. The public is stupid, their memory is short. I’ll decrease the security very gradually so that no one will notice once they’re all gone. My gangbangers may scare you, but their money is just as green as anyone else’s. They’ll be back, just like everyone else. Fox will help me get over the hump and then I’ll borrow some more money to get my cable venture under way. Sure, I won’t be worth much by then, but who cares? I’m still living a lavish lifestyle and I figure I’ll only be around for another 25 years or so anyway and then my kids will take over. If you think I’m crummy, wait until you get a load of them. Me and the ex have spoiled them rotten. Oh, the power struggles will make you sick, I’m glad I won’t be around to see it.
That’s the boss! I knew I couldn’t fool you. I hope we can sell more tickets for tonight, I know you’ve must have spent most of that Fox money on having your hair done. Do you have any more ideas on how to market the McCourt brand and ruin the Dodgers? You know I’m doing the best I can to help you.

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/addressing-the-james-loney-situation/
Yep, it started last night with Kemp!! I still can’t believe Ned signed Uribum at all, much less for 3 years!! Oh wait, given his history of bad signings, I shouldn’t be surprised!! Donny(I’m starting to have my doubts about him as well) needs to do something now. Start by benching Loney against lefthanders and move Uribe down to 7 or 8 in the order. And like you stated last night, Blake is settling back to his true self!! This boat is sinking and has to many holes right now to save it!!!
Good article Wally. Its interesting the overriding theme is that James Loney isn’t good enough to be a starter for the Dodgers. Well to that I say, look around you – other than Dre and Kemp, who is?
Overriding theme is: He’s not good enough to be a starter anywhere. Geez!!! And you’re right, other than Matt and Andre there aren’t any proven major league starters on this team. And Uribe heads the list!!!
You’re right…they will start pitching around those two and, NO RUNS will be scored…period!
And that doesn’t even take into conderation that the bullpen is a shambles!!! We are so hosed!!!
With Ned, I’m surprised he didn’t sign Uribe for 5 years.
.
Jeez, cut your loses this year at the trade deadline. From what I understand, you can’t trade a free agent you signed until after June (or something like that), not that there’d be any takers on Uribe, but Thames and Lilly maybe. Definitely have to axe Blake, Furcal, Kuroda (whom you might get some pretty decent prospects for), Loney, Padilla and any of the other assorted slop taking up space. Play the new kids on the block, restock the farm, and do what Ned always does every offseason anyway – buy up more filler crap. Only way I see this team making a comeback is to start now with the rebuilding and take your lumps and ride out the storm the next 4-5 years while you rebuild the farm and scouting system to a productive status. Its not like Ned’s way is doing anyone any good. With him we’re taking our lumps while building nothing and going nowhere. I’d at least like to think we’re heading in a direction other than backwards.
Well said Beav!!! If I’m going to continue to take it up the wah-zoo, it would at least be less painful if I thought we were making some forward progress!!!
This Sands kid will help bring in some more $, God bless him. He’s making them all forget about Opening Day already. They’re chanting his name after a double thingy and a ……what do you call those things where a ball gets caught and another guy gets to score anyway? I can’t keep it straight how one time he can score and another time he can’t…… oh forget it. I’ll get five years of cheap labor out of him, I’m so excited.
.
I didn’t have to spend ALL the money on haircuts, stupid! Just most of it. I got to see “Hop”.
.
The next marketing thing will be selling space on the uniforms, just like racing or golf. Fox is in on the ground floor, you know. Right across the chest. “Dodgers on Fox” it’ll say. How else do you think I’m getting all this money? I don’t have any collateral and just about all the equity in the team is gone. I’m in negotiations with a couple of oil companies, Nike of course, several alcohol distributers and a major manufacturer of condoms. Don’t worry about Selig objecting. He’s in the bag. Midwesterners, HA! Way too trusting.
.
Neddy my boy, I’ve told you before that you’re doing a swell job. Still can’t believe these bumkins watched a Bostonian, a Giant and a Yankee come in here and believed the load of crap we fed them about loving LA and the Dodgers! What 3 cities can you name that hate LA more than the ones we came from? Makes me giggle like a schoolgirl just thinking about it. Tell you what. We’re hitting a tough period right now. If you can unload our potential free agents without having to take over any salary more than, say, 2 million per year, I’ll finally let you get rid of that disgusting caterpillar on your upper lip.
http://citywatchla.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4809
I’d like to know what his creditors are doing that gave him loans based upon future ticket sales. Let’s not forget Frank’s not just leveraged up to the minute, he’s leverage future [non?] events as well.
Funnier than watching an old lady sit on a bunch of tacks!
That’s what the guy disguising himself as Frank McCourt is.
But behind it all, that’s exactly what Frank is thinking, and he thinks he’s smart enough to put it over on all us yokels. Why not, he did it with Bud, and his current scheme is probably working as well.
*
EMPTY SEATS is all that Frank understands.
Happy 50th Bday Donny!
The L.A. Times has just reported Selig is going to take over the Dodgers’ financial operations!
It seems as though this is a step in the right direction. Don’t you think so?
I just saw it on TV, too. It was a “special report”.
.
I think we can all say that it’s about darned time!
This is the best news of the year. Hopefully, Selig will force the sale of the team to someone who doesn’t need to use the team as their personal piggy bank.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/jon_heyman/04/20/dodgers.mccourt/index.html
I hear the bell tolling, Frank, you miserable slimy f’ing bast**d!
And, Dodger fans all over will be dancing in the streets 🙂
LOL!!! I did a hop, skip, and a jump across the room when I heard about it!! Woo-Hoo!!!!! This could finally be the end for the miserable slimy f’ing b*stard!!!!
Oh please let this be the end of Frank and Furter!!!! Also, I hope Conte and Honeycutt are given their walking papers!!!
That would be wondeful news….would make me 🙂
Is this some sort of stoner prank or is this real?? woo-hoo!!
Jason, it’s for real! 🙂 🙂
It sure is! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I can’t help but wonder if this was the reason Joe Torre and Kim Ng were visiting recently. What do you all think?
I’ll bet it did Sparky!!! Wouldn’t it be grand if Kim Ng ends up getting put in to watch over Frank!!!
Just thought I’d stop by to say
HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see you again, Scott!
🙂
They ought to throw Frank in a debtor’s prison. If there isn’t a debtors prison, they ought to open one just for Frank.
First they should pull out all his manicured nails, cut his hair down to the scalp, and do too many things that are beyond me to mention.
*
Oh, and Selig ought to FIRE NED, HONEYCUTT AND MOST PEOPLE IN THE FRONT OFFICE Install Ng to GM the team at least in the interim.; however keep Torre as far away from it as possible.
Finally!!!! Thank You Bud!!!
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2011/04/selig-confirms-appointment-of-dodgers-trustee-investigation-into-club-finances.html
W 🙂 🙂 H 🙂 🙂 !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had to stop by to celebrate the news out of the commissioner’s office! I’ve been away as I have an interpreter’s exam on Friday, and been studying hard. Nothing like a 3 hour exam! I hope all are well, and since I don’t drink, I’ll crack open an ice cold Pepsi to celebrate this news! I wish Josh and crew all the best during these tough times, but I guess I will have to ship my piano to Bud! 🙂 Have a great day all!
Hallelujah! The first step!
.
“Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig stripped Dodgers owner Frank McCourt of financial control of the club Wednesday, saying he would appoint a trustee to oversee the team’s business affairs while investigating the “operations and finances of the Dodgers and related entities.”
.
“Season ticket sales have fallen from 27,000 in 2007 to just more than 17,000 this season, according to court documents and baseball sources.”
.
“Selig’s complete statement:
.
“Pursuant to my authority as Commissioner, I informed Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt today that I will appoint a representative to oversee all aspects of the business and the day-to-day operations of the Club. I have taken this action because of my deep concerns regarding the finances and operations of the Dodgers and to protect the best interests of the Club, its great fans and all of Major League Baseball. My office will continue its thorough investigation into the operations and finances of the Dodgers and related entities during the period of Mr. McCourt’s ownership. I will announce the name of my representative in the next several days. The Dodgers have been one of the most prestigious franchises in all of sports, and we owe it to their legion of loyal fans to ensure that this club is being operated properly now and will be guided appropriately in the future.”
.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dodgers-selig-mccourt,0,1950297.story
WOW!!!!! Just fabulous!!!!!
“McCourt is currently hanging on by one manicured fingernail. He was momentarily bailed out by his friends at Fox, who gave him a $30 million personal loan so he could make the April 15 payroll. That loan is said to have been secured via a promise of settlement monies from the lawsuit against his former lawyers.”
.
Said former lawyers already initiated a lawsuit against Frank which precludes him from suing them back for malpractice. Ergo, FOX just got screwed out of $30 mil.
I am not one to equate something as tremendous as the Easter season with the Los Angeles Dodgers Baseball Club, but perhaps we shall see our team resurrected soon.
Now this my be “how you end a losing streak”!!
Maybe MLB can get us a new thread to boot!!!
So, inquiring minds want to know…… are we cleared to go to games again? LOL!!!!
Im not usually on here anymore cause I have nothing positive to say but today I do… go away mccourt… this heading should be changed from “and thats how you end a losing streak” to “and thats how you end a losers reign of terror” good job selig.
I like it 🙂
I suppose this could be considered a good day for Dodger fans but I am going to reserve my excitement until I see what really happens. But I will say it is about time. I do have one suggestion for Mr. Selig. When you are done trying to figure out how to get the Dodgers away from Mr. McCourt, I do hope you start an investigation of yourself to find out why in the heck you approved the McCourts in the first place.
Right-on Birk!
Jeeves, can you get the cork back into that bottle? Suddenly I’m not in the mood for champagne…..
Of course, Mr. McCourt but I do have a message from Mrs. McCourt and about a million Dodger fans suggesting some other possible places for you to put the cork and the bottle.
You tell him, lbirken! Pretty soon we won’t see his sorry ass around here. Hopefully he can take Neddy with him 🙂
I bet Frank is just itching to SUE, probably anyone in sight. The laughable problem is that he already owes money to everyone, so what lawyers are going to take him on without a large retainer.
So where is the IRS in all this? Wouldn’t it be a great time to pile on? Hint, Hint!
http://benmaller.com/2011/04/report-irs-going-after-dodgers-owner/#more-36036
Jhall, it just keeps getting better….thanks for the link…
Your welcome Kahli!! It is looking much brighter!!!
Let me join the party! And it’s about time, too. Hopefully, the players can exhale now, and the younger ones can look to a future with solidity and a chance to compete. And double-hopefully, this portends a new owner who will bring in an even newer GM with a bit of savvy, a long-range game plan, and tons of talent recognition.
Well, if nothing else, it is good to see all of you dormant ITDer’s again!!!! I hope you continue to drop in as this is just the beginning. It’s gonna get interesting!!!! Great to see you all!!!
So, Josh – other than that, how’s your day?
Why not just give us a new post – you don’t even have to say anything; we’ll understand.
http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b94bF
I guess Frank has already lawyered up!!!
Jhall, I would much rather be talking about what is happening on the field but so far there has not been much to say. Hopefully we will get back to that.
Yep lb, this could be the break we’ve all been waiting for!!! Doesn’t fix Uribum and Loneys’ hitting however!!!
So true!
So, we made it to Fox News with Shephard Smith, and MLBTV just did a discussion about it. They say it’s a start, but there is still alot that needs to happen. In the meantime, let’s hope for a Dodger win to celebrate a start to a brighter future!
Well, could be awhile till Josh gets around to this blog!! I imagine he is busier than a one armed wall paper hanger!!! This could be the longest thread in MLB blog history!!!
Let’s hope Josh still has a job!
For sure!!!
I hope so!!!
.
Our longest thread went above the 1,000 mark easily back in the days before the time warping started.
Damn, I would love to be a fly on the wall at the Dodger offices right now!!!! Its got to be quite a scene!!!
Got to thinking with the IRS, this screws Jamie too.
.
(A) She is either co-owner so that any improprieties while she was married to Frank are her liability too.
or
(B) She does a 180 and claims she isn’t co-owner in which case she has no claim to the team or any of its assets (which I admit, can’t be many since Frank’s leveraged them all.)
.
This then could mean adios Jamie as well.
Yep, those two would have been much better off to stay married as a business deal and just live seperate lives!!!
Another thought… Could the IRS investigation have prompted Selig’s takeover of the finances? You know, CYA for Selig’s other owner buddies?
I’m sure that didn’t hurt. Certainly that, Franks shady 30M personal loan, and lawyering up(see earlier link) all forced him to do something!!!
That was my first thought!!! Which happened first…. The IRS or MLB?
It’s unfortunate, but the Stow incident probably brought this whole thing to a head. It really brought all the powers that be to focus on the Dodgers and Frank!!! Hell’uva price to pay!!!! Too steep!!! Selig is actually somewhat to blame for this whole mess anyway!!!!
I think Selig’s at least in it up to his hips.
We made news up in Sacramento. I was listening to their radio show because the Kings fans are still up in arms over their city not doing their part to keep the Kings. Anyhow, the host Grant Napier, brought up the Dodgers, and there were at least 10 calls in the time I was in the car from Kings fans who are also Dodger fans. All the calls talked of embarrassment, but it was something that needed to happen in order to get back on track towards the way it used to be.
Yep Nelly, Frank lost in the court of public opinion long ago!!!
I don’t have much sympathy for Jamie. No matter what the judge ruled, I am convinced both of them knew exactly what they were doing. They never contemplated divorce when they signed all those documents and most likely never figured how far things would go. It would be one thing if they had put a lot of their own money into the Dodgers and were just bad managers or suffered from bad luck. The truth is they conspired to make the Dodgers their own money printing press with little regard for the product on the field. They tried to be big shots without doing anything to deserve such a title. I am sure Frank and Jamie wanted very much to field a winning team but they let their own greed and vanity get in the way. And I am not at all surprised that Frank will try to fight a legal battle because I believe he thrives on that kind of stuff and he is too arrogant to admit he may be in the wrong. What does surprise me is how he is able to engage all sorts of professional and legal help when it seems he has no means to pay for it. The guy must be a good talker.
This is a great day! The sooner the McCourts are out of L.A. the better for all concerned. Bring some class back to the Dodger organization.
I’ve never been a fan of Bud Selig, but he’s my hero now….!

By enchantedTheBeav on April 20, 2011 5:24 pm
Ya know Beav, this could get real interesting. Right now the IRS has to be looking into Jamie as well and all that property bought at Dodger fans expense. Gonna be fun to see which way Jamie plays this!!!
With the Dodger money pipeline seemingly shut down for now, how does Frank pay the mortgages on all that expensive property. Much less support payments to Jamie and all the legal fees!!! I hope Jamie(the high life whore) goes down with the scumbag!!!!
More than likely she will be going down on some-thing/one to help save her own saggy behind.
I don’t think a soap opera writer could come up with a better script then what’s coming up next in Dodgerville! I sure feel for the players with all this BS going on. For their sake, I sure hope this gets resolved in a timely manner.
.
.
BTW My hopes on tonights game aren’t very high with Garland on the mound……..
VL, I think it would be in Frank and Jamies best interests to get this resolved quickly. Whatever is left will be eaten away very rapidly by the legal fees!!! I am also not very optimistic about our chances tonight with Garland going against Lowe!!! Oh well, we’ll see soon!!!
Even less so with Urectum and Phoney batting 5 and 6!!!!
Fantastic Evening to All…
.
Wishin’ Garland and Crew a successful outcome tonight!
.
Happy Birthday Donnie
.
What a day…and we still have ballgame to play!
.

LET’S GO DODGERS, LET’S GO!!!!
Is it time to move Blake out of that 2nd spot to 5th and Sands 6th and move Ethier and Kemp to 2nd and 3rd and I seriously think Loney need to bat 2nd to get better pictches in front of Ethier but of course that would be 2 straight lhb in a rows.
oops pitches.
I agree with you Shad, I would move Loney into the 2 hole and Blake into the 5 hole!!! Sands 6th, Barajas 7th, and Uribum 8th!!
This is getting rediciously. Blake isn’t really a 2nd places hitter but does have a lot of experience.
Wow, I’m reading all that is happening….WOW. I’m still speechless!
*
LET’S GO DODGER’S
*
And JOSH hope you are still with us!
Uribe and Loney and Barajas, Oh Shit!! Sorry Dorothy!!! We’re off to see the cellar!!!!
I think tonight, I can count the number of people at the game myself. Just give me ten minutes 🙂
YAY….ANDRE!!!!!!
WTG ANDRE!!! 17 straight!!!
Way to go Andre!!!!! Keeps that hitting streak alive at 17 🙂
Woo-Hoo, hit streak!!!
Its the little victories anymore isn’t it Wally?!!
No doubt Beav!!! LOL!!!
Oh, my, Yawn got a hit and two RBIs!
That ball hit by Uribe had eyes.
OMG!!!!
Damn knowing Ned he would extend Uribe to 3 more years lol.
Wow!! Who’d have thunk it!! Uribum and Phoney with back to back hits. Hope this a good sign!!!
We may be hitting the ball so far, but we still have pitching to contend with for the entire game. So, I am not sure any run lead is large enough.
I’d say we need at least 10 runs, Nellyjune.
Hi’Ya Nelly!! No, most likely, two runs will not win this game!!! Good sign however, just need to keep the foot on the gas!!!
Hey Tru, finish your attendance count yet? LOL
LOL…working on it 🙂
17…18…19…
When the “crowd” does the wave…it looks like a ripple 🙂
Wow..there seems to be a few hundred!
Wow a homerun cycle really maybe we should drafted Posey sister can she catch or played 3rd bases?
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Buster-Posey-s-sister-knows-her-way-around-a-bat?urn=mlb-wp3970
I guess Frank & Ned must be huddled together in the bunker…
Yeah ANDRE!!!!!
Holy crap…Uribe…2 – 2 !!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a good night for Lowe. Good for us! WTF? Uribe having a good week tonight! The hit parade continues.
Maybe the curse of Frank is starting to lift 🙂
I’m kinda thinking too Tru that maybe the boys have started to see the first ray of light at he end of the tunnel.
OMG II !!!
Matt just got told by Vin!! You never want to be the third out at third base – lol!!!
One of the cardinal rules/sins of baseball. I can forgive him tonight being up by five.
I imagine Lopes will have a little talk with him!!! I can see it with one out, but with two outs, its a bone head move!!!
For sure!! Vin just made me chuckle when he said that! lol
I think Kemp has a bit of an ego and wants to always be the star of the show!!!!
Yep, Vin was pretty firm in that little reprimand!!!
Uribe actually got above the Mendoza line. Bet he wishes he could face Lowe more than once a week. LOL!
Nice inning!! Not sure what Kemp was thinking!!!
Tomorrow, they get to wear those ugly-ass throw back uniforms 🙂
LOL!! Well, they will look like the KC Royals from the 80’s when they were good!!!
True…did you guys realize the censor here isn”t as strict as before? I got to say ass without adding an extra “s”. Ungar used the F word this morning and it came out loud and clear 🙂
Hopefully, at least they will all wear them knee length with the cool socks!!! The way they did in the 40’s!!!
I heard those ugly throwbacks are made of satin. That ought to make some fashionistas happy..
They are going to be so uncomfortable. Poor Kersh has to pitch in that thing!
Geez, tru. Why don’t you come out of your shell and tell us what you really think?
Hi-ya Dad!
LOL…I’m getting warmed up!
LOL!! Have a margarita and drop an F-bomb Trumom!!!
Dodger4life and I have a bet on which one of the Cleavers are going to unload it first 🙂 I’m waiting for Bear to figure out that he can say what he really means!
LOL!!
Hi’Ya Dad!!! Gee, I love it when you are in the house!!!
Woo-Hoo Andre!! A love letter for Nelly!!!
🙂
Andre Everett Ethier hit his 100th Homerun!!!!’
AWESOME ANDRE! 100 homers! What a night!
100 baby!
Speaking of KC I wonder how long they going to keep that .500+ record same with the Indians.
My friend jJoe was just reminding me “and we’seen both homeruns by Ethier!”
Well they figure if a team has Frank as an owner, they need NO Censor on our wording! Let them Tell Frank what the really think!
My sentiments exactly!
The mood here tonight has certainly lightened up what with a few hits and Frank’s ass in a sling.
Yep Beav, the sky does seem a lot bluer today/tonight!!!
WTG Ethier 100 HR’s
Fuck me.
Asssume the position!
Rectum, Bud damn near killed him!!!
That make e laugh. e impressed with Frank.
.
.
.
.
Aw, e straight.
I’m sure his rectum will be quite a wreck after all is said & done under the current circumstances.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
I am not sure we should let Messagebear know there is no censor. Look at how Dodgereric is reacting. Can you imagine what Bear will be able to do now? LMAO!!!
LMAO….now we don’t have to use fishing and soap!
🙂
What a pleasant surprise! Garland has been almost surgical tonight compared to his last outing when he got bombed.
Yep VL, a very pleasant surprise!! It must be our day!!
I was thinking, how does Bud Selig still have a job? Don’t answer, I know..But..man…
(add to this list cause I am only going off the top of my head)
1. Steroid Era
2. Destroying mid market baseball
3. Destroying the Dodgers
4. Calling off a World Series.
5. Calling the All Star Game a tie and then making home team field adv in WS go to all star game winner
How do you remove him? The owners vote him out?
Jason, you are 100% correct, but let him take mccourt out. Then we’ll go after him.
Hey Jason – glad you’re back among us! Is that Benjamin? He’s getting big nowadays.
yep, and that pic is old now, a few months at least. All of a sudden he is 3.5 (lol, but for real he is)..It’s good to be back and be welcomed back. And now with this McCourt move things should really be interesting and hopeful, even though I am not so sure about this year, not with so many easy outs. But I’ll make sure to pop in just about daily at least.
Nice avatar Jason!! Good to see ya back!!!
Uribe vs D. Lowe 6 3 1 0 0 3 2 0 0 0 .500 .625 .667 1.292
Yep Shad, Uribum has Lowes’ number!! We need the attendance my friend!!!
Come on Dre…a triple for the cycle!
Could Not be away from ITD today! A shot down (resposado) on such a tremendous announcement(Thanks Bud) ! And what a game! WE NEED THIS! GO DODGERS!
Heh, heh, heh, I wonder how high Neds pucker factor is about now!!!! When he loses this gig, the jig is up!!!
Trying not to get too giddy here. I’ve felt that this was the year we had to get rid of the owner. Now or never. Since I love to put things like this, here goes:
.
We were in the bottom of the ninth. Bases loaded, down four runs, two out. Finally got a fat pitch and hit it out. Tie game. Great comeback, great heart, back in the game but it hasn’t been won yet.
.
Now let’s win this thing.
had a Margarita
to celebrate. Ran into Josh a few nights ago. He said he has been working 24/7
Next time you see him, tell him we need a new thread.
Well ask him for a new thread!!!
Every Dodger Fan Should celebrate if this is the beginning of the end of the Mc Court ERA.
29,473….Dodgereric 🙂
I’d say people at the game about 9,473 🙂
One of those 29,473 is one of my colleagues who teaches first grade with me. She is dating a Dodger fan 🙂
LOL!! Thanks Trumom!!! Screw Frank and Furter!!!!
Uh oh boss, we’re in trouble now. I thought you told me that you had this Selig guy in check? On a happier note, maybe if we can give away more free crap, it will increase attendance and Bud will back off? I know we can have a Ned bobble head night, which can come with a detachable rug. Do you like that fans, will that make you turn out? Don’t’ worry boss about me making trades to reduce our costs Remember Manny and Blake, I only had to give up prospects, I did it once, and I can do it again. Do you need your car washed boss?
Last guy that called his boss, boss was…….. Tatoo, is that you?
Garland was awesome tonight! Andre and the rest of the team were fantastic! A much more light-hearted spirit 🙂
OUTSTANDING GARLAND!!! That was a masterpiece!!!
That was a damn fine game Garland threw, and I’m not ashamed to admit it.
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 8) 🙂 🙂 10

With the news today D4, its Soulshine Time!!!
Cheers!!
Happy Birthday Donnie! A great win. A timely complete game pitched by Garland to give the overworked bullpen a rest is HUGE!!!
Way to go Dodgers!!! Wonderful pitching by Garland tonight!!!! Great offense led by Andre and Uribe.
.
Dodgereric – Jimmie can act too!!! He is on new show “breaking In”‘. He’s funny!!!
Not sure just how valid further numbers will be. Mccourt haters may start returning. However, here are the updates with an addition:
.

Tonight’s attendance courtesy of trumom: 29,473
.
2010 attendance (11 games) – 502,300 (45,664 average)
2011 attendance (11 games) – 421,273 (38,298 average)

Drop of 81,027 total
Average drop of 7366
Extrapolated for 81 games – 596,53
Projected 2011 final attendance – 3,102,101
Dang, I can’t do it clean once?
.
Extrapolated for 81 games – 596,653
Heh, heh, heh, you’ve got there attention folks!!!!! Thanks Dad!!!
I say we have a mccourt bobble head night, complete with a noose.
As long as it is a real representation and has a Ned bobble head in its ass!!!
Laughing My Ass Off!!!
Hey thanks for all the story links, jhall! It’s been a day for reading for sure.
.
Here’s one for you: mccourt makes a statement….
“”Major League Baseball sets strict financial guidelines which all 30 teams must follow. The Dodgers are in compliance. … On this basis, it is hard to understand the commissioner’s decision.”
.
“The Cat In The Hat” is hard for you to understand too.
Sorry, the link: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-dodgers-owner-20110421,0,5008259.story
My pleasure Dad!! It was fun reading all the breaking news today. Its been too long and it is exciting to see a scumbag con man like Frank, finally get taken down. Thanks for the link!!!
Anudder one. LA Supervisor Mike Antonovich wants Selig to name an O’Malley family member to run the Dodgers. Peter O’Malley hasn’t indicated one way or the other yet.
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/dodgers/2011/04/supervisor-antonovich-wants-omalley-to-run-dodgers-for-mlb-during-investigation.html
Yep Shad, Uribum has Lowes’ number!! We need the attendance my friend!!!
By JhallWally on April 20, 2011 9:15 pm –
Of course it hard for me to get attendance when I can’t watch the game on cable and have to wait until espn update.
Like couple of people mention 29,473 (52.6% full) – % is based on regular season capacity.
Didn’t hear about it until after I got off work, around 8ish. After the initial flare of Martha and the Vandellas rang in and out of my ears, only three words came to mind:
.
A sad shame.
.
Just sad all around. Nothing pretty about this, though things will get better.
.
I don’t have words, just listening to side two of Abbey Road, which seems very appropriate considering, even with its sparse pops and crackles. Maybe especially because of the sparse pops and crackles.
.
Once, there was a way to get back homeward
Once, there was a way to get back home
Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry,
and I will sing a lullaby...
Boy, you're gonna carry that weight,
Carry that weight a long time...
I will go one stepped forward and it so bad that the Giants/Angels home average attendance is more than our. Last year, it was the Yankees/Phillies and Dodgers in the first 3 spot.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendancea.493004953451.274719.525558451
2 years ago it was the Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies and where did these Giants fans coming up? lol there average is over 40,000+ this year and I guess is because they won the WS and the past 2 years they were under 40,000.
Actually make that there more Giants fans showing up at there home game now.
They have a buttload of bandwagon fans that are leftover from the last three weeks of last season. Until they drop below us in the standings, the bandwagon fans will be there wearing their orange and black.
In reading all the articles and listening to all the interviews on various sports/news channels, I have come to the conclusion that Frank and Ned are utterly clueless as to what the fans have been saying. Ned says it’s a sad day for baseball. Yea, it’s sad it has come to these desperate measures to try and rectify a horrible situation, but that certainly wasn’t what he was saying. I know we are heading into uncharted territory, but wouldn’t it be nice if Ned was shown the door along with Frank?
Cmon fans, show Bud that you want us to stay. Just come back to the park, boss needs your money more than ever now. I wonder who’ll be my next boss? Maybe the manager at the local McDonalds?
I’m sure there is no final solution in sight, but one thing I believe is certain. Now that Selig has taken this unprecedented action, I don’t see how he can back away and ultimately leave Frank in ownership of the franchise. You have to assume that all the other owners want Frank OUT as well. It may take a few lawsuits along with a lot of time to resolve before it’s all over, but I think that Frank will be GONE for good at the end. So, HURRAH! – couldn’t happen to a bigger piece of Shiiittt. Just because Soboroff can be so complimentary of Frank makes me absolutely conclude that he is a Shiitt too. In fact, I’m looking forward to the day when all the Biggies in the Front Office are GONE – worthless brownnosing tools all of them, Rawitch especially.
Messagebear – so far we haven’t had any censoring to our words. You can call Frank an ass the normal way, and a few have even used the “f” word 🙂
.
Great post BTW 🙂
No shit 🙂
Sad to see this happen to a storied franchise, but maybe these developments will lead to better things. Hope this works out well for Dodgers fans.
I believe all of us here are happy about what happened, and I would say “cautiously optimistic” about the future of the Dodgers. There is still a long way to go, and this year (in terms of team production) is still a rollercoaster issue. I have read the ZoZone on occasion, including the last week or so. Keep up the great posts. You all are fun to read.
Selig doesn’t scare me but the IRS sure does.
I hope all this leads to a better Dodgers! LET’S GO DODGERS!
Don’t mention the IRS boss, they’ll take your money faster than Jamie will. Hey I guess that Steve Soberliving guy is in with us also. Did you promise to pay him? He’s as big a liar as you are boss, you should be proud, you coached him well. Oh well , guess I’ll see how much more I can mess up this team before we’re gone. Hopefully I’m still around to make trades at the deadline.
At least someone still thinks I’m good for baseball. I’d hire more like him but I don’t think I can get permission from that mean ol’ Selig.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-0422-dodgers-web-20110422,0,425236.story
I’m kinda hoping that Mr. Selig, yes Mr.now that he did something, will appoint Kim Ng to oversee the Dodgers.
JOSH CAN WE CHANGE THE HEADING TO READ:
And that’s how you end a loosers streak…
FRANK IS GOING DOWN AND SHOULD BE BAND FROM MLB.
Hey, are any of you as upset about that Soboroff idiot as I am? Another letter:
.
“In Thursday’s Times, Steve Soboroff is quoted as saying, “”We need more people like Frank McCourt.”
.
Mr Soboroff, if you truly believe that and are not just sticking up for your new boss, then we Dodger fans certainly don’t need you. I hereby give The Times permission to give you my name, address, phone number and email address if you’d like to learn exactly why your statement is completely wrong. Just make sure you have 2 or 3 hours minimum.”
Since the only court action so far has dispelled the notion that Frank owns the Dodgers in entirety, I would think that Jamie has an equal say in responding to Selig’s intended takeover. She has spoken in favor of the move. As far as I’m concerned, when Frank decides to sue to avoid that takeover, the judge ought to dismiss the action, because he doesn’t have sufficient legal standing on his own to bring any action concerning the Dodgers. You never know what a judge is going to do, but that’s how I see it. Now, admittedly I might have to recuse myself, because it could be proved time and again that I think Frank is a Shit and worse, but then again how many judges do you think you can find in the LA area that don’t think so.
I totally agree with your Soboroff conclusions, Eric.
This is just another case of bringing in somebody who supposedly is a big sobering influence in Dodgers’ business management. Remember Manion from days gone by? Just another political move without real substance, and I’m now totally against this Soboroff guy without needing to know any more about him. Maybe he’s a tax expert too, which Frank may need even more urgently than he needs a knowledgeable GM.
What kind of planet are Frank, Ned and their new puppet living on? I don’t know of any fan of the Dodgers or baseball are not in agreement with what is happening. Some fans of other teams are not sure how us Dodger fans are feeling, but once it’s explained why it’s a good thing, they totally get it too. Molly Knight was on ESPN last night and did a very good job in saying what the fans have been thinking and saying all along. The media gets it, and the fans get it. So, why can’t “they” get it?” Idiots I say!!! Just idiots and completely and utterly delusional.
Soboroff is a piece of work isn’t he? What a bootlicker!
Speaking of bootlickers, I wonder what Josh is going to say next?
Thanks for the backing, bear! But really, do any of us actually think that mccourt wouldn’t hesitate to fire anyone who won’t back him in public? Ordinarily you’d probably have a certain percentage of his employees quit in protest. But you’d better already have a replacement job lined up. And that’s not easy in this economic climate. It would take a rare person who would choose pride over a paycheck in the best of times.
.
Junie, I’ve run across a lot of folks who stare at me with their mouths open when I tell them stuff that we’ve been talking about here for months and months now. PS – even though I still believe in the boycott (for now), you and trumom should go get your Ethier bobbleheads. You both deserve it. Seriously. I just checked our local high “A” team Rancho Cucamonga Quakes schedule. Last year they had several bobblehead giveaways, I’m guessing left-overs. But this year the only one on the schedule is for Kershaw on May 20th.
Click to access 2011_Quakes_Promo_Schedule.pdf
Why thank you very much!!! However, I am hoping by the time I have to think about tickets, Frank won’t be in the building anymore. I wish we had a Dodger minor league team closer, but we are surrounded by gnat and Rox affiliates. However, the Isotopes are playing the Fresno Grizzlies in August, which we are hoping to see one of those games since it’s the AAA version of a Dodger/Gnat game without the higher cost of tickets and parking.
Tony Jackson was just on ESPN (by phone) and pretty much said exactly what the fans have been saying all along. He even used the phrase “cautiously optimistic”. He did a great job!!!
Nelly, I also heard this morning on the radio that just about all the other owners from the other teams DO NOT LIKE FRANK and what he has done for the team and he is going down as the worst OWNER of all times.
That’s good to know!!!!
“Happy” is not a word I would use to describe this occasion.
.
How can it be happy when Bud Selig takes control of the Dodgers?
.
The friggin’ Dodgers!
.
He’s not a savior, just an executive demoted to janitorial work, cleaning up the mess he made, and causing the kind of black mark on the franchise’s history that can’t be erased.
.
Black mark next to black mark, in an era of many black marks for the sport of Baseball… or should I say the Business of Baseball.
.
Happiness is the day a new owner is in control. Until then, I can’t get up in arms about becoming the baseball equivalent of Vichy France.
.
Even though Frank McCourt was a two-faced moron who has turned the Dodgers into the rubble that Bud now gets to pick through, or have his appointed deputy pick through.
.
The greatest shame of this Dodgers fan is the abject jubilation that the Dodgers have been demoted to the status of Montreal Expos and Texas Rangers (or should I say Washington and Washington?).
.
The greatest sadness is that the madness of Frank McCourt has driven the fanbase to the point where a Selig-controlled team is considered a “good” thing.
.
It’s always darkest before the dawn, but I think there’s many miles to go before we hit pitch black. And I was hoping we hit pitch black when the divorce was announced on the eve of the ’09 NLCS.
Oh well, we knew Soboroff was a jack-off!!! Of course he’s going to come out in defense of Frank when he’s getting a fat paycheck from him!! It’s a joke, a bad one albeit!!! You know Frank is going to litigate this so it will probably take longer than we would like. But, at least the ball is rolling in the right direction. All the experts agree that this is the end of McCourt and that eventually he will be forced to sell the team. The good part is that MLB will be calling the shots so he can’t continue to skim money or worse yet, make bad signings or unload players to cut payroll as this would devalue the club!!! Its gonna take some time, but we’re finally on our way out from under the scumbag con man!!!!
Hi Everybody
Looks like I might have to change the picture I have on my page with all the icons on it.
But I’m only interested, right now, in the Dodgers scoring enough runs against Jurrgens to support Kershaw this afternoon.
Soboroff’s comments as to how sound Frank is financially are understandable when you consider who he is. Disregard the fact that he was an advisor to a former mayor, although that may speak volumes in itself, but after all at heart he was a community real estate developer. That’s not much unlike Frank himself. A real estate developer doesn’t use his own money, but borrows all he can – that should remind us of somebody. In that sense they’re kind of like bloodsuckers. If things work out, they make a pile of money FOR THEMSELVES. If they don’t, it’s the investors and the lenders who take the real hit – I wonder how much Fox and some others are sweating now. The main thing I want Selig and his team to do is to lock the cash box, so Frank doesn’t have access to it, and if I were Soboroff I’d start worrying about what happens with his paycheck then.
Don’t the boys look good playing in their pajamas? 🙂
Yes it is Sad to see that one of the greatest baseball franchises has come to this. Just have patience and yes wording your opinions will make a difference. Right now I feel that the Dodgers (players) are stuck in the Tunnel heading to the field but that tunnel is long, very long. They see the light … tiny but they see it. This is the beginning of a new Dodger Era and I hope the ending of a bad one. Games must go on and I hope the players can keep playing strong through this hurricane. And I hope that at the end they feel proud of wearing Dodger Blue! I just hope that by some miracle they can win that ring, put it on the middle finger and wave it at FRANK… “Fuck You Frank”! Just wishing!
Good Afternoon Everyone…
.
LET’S GO DODGERS, LET’S GO!!
Nice play Uribe! Kersh 9 up 9 down
Lots of fans being interviewed yesterday and today. Lots of media. I got interviewed by CBS
That’s cool Emma!! What did you say?
Hell with that. Did you tell Josh we need a new thread? 🙂
LOL Beav!!!
Alright Andre!!!! The hitting streak is still alive at #18.
The streak is alive!
LOL!!!! Figures 🙂
🙂 🙂 Sure does!
Was I sarcastic enough that time? Probably not – LOL!!!!
Nope 🙂 Maybe it shoud have been “Ugh, not again!”
Unreal, 1st and 3rd nobody out and we fail to score
Ethier decided to one up Kemps base running blunder from last night!! Geez!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!™
Geez is the best you can do? 🙂
Geez-O-Pete!!! Darn it, that cost us a doggone run!!! LOL!!!
Geez-o-pete….LAUGH MY ASS OFF!!!!!
3 innings. 4 hits. 2 walks. 0 runs.
.
ITS TIME FOR DODGER BASEBALL!!!
All of the 40’s music they are playing must be putting them to sleep.
Must be nice when just about anyone in your line-up can hit one out…
Can anybody on this team get a clutch hit with RISP??
Evidently not!!! Sad!!!
Post-McCourt Dodgers W-L record: 1-0 Woohoo!
Now that Kemp’s cooled off and is striking out, there IS no offense.
RALLY TIME!
The law of gravity tells us that shit rolls downhill. That means Ned is out before any more trading blunders in July. Woohoo!
My top picks for who should be leading the Dodgers post-McCourt:
.
1. DodgerEric
2. Kim Ng
.
.
.
.
.
8,999,999,678. Joe Torre
8,999,999,679. Bud Selig
I am all for that!!!!
Way to go Uribe!
.
But you’ve still got a long ways to go before your slugging percentage matches your weight.
Quick quiz: Who’s got the highest batting average of the following foursome:
.
a) Yawn Uribum
b) Jim Phoney
c) Hot Rod Barajas
d) Clayton Kershaw
Kersh?
Right you are, nellyjune, Kersh is at a sweet .300
Kersh slips to .273 after grounding out against the Brim Reaper, but the answer is still (d).
LOL!! Kersh!! Heres another one:
Over/Under on posts before we get a new thread:
1,000 Over or Under? Geez!!
We thought Josh had his hands full with the Bryan Stow incident (liability). Now Josh doesn’t even know if he still has a job. I’m going with over. In fact, I think we will break our record. Does anybody remember the record? I thought it was about 1,400?
I’m not sure STT!! But I’m going with the Over!!! As for Josh, I hope he survives this!!! Good thing is, SoJackOff really only got to make one statement in his new position. Now he doesn’t have any say so or authority at all!! LOL!!! Another waste of money by Frank!!! Paying a sychophant mouthpiece who now has no powers!!!
So Uribe weight more than .318 dang.
Uribe’s weight is listed at 230, but I can tell that is a lie just by looking at him.
Wow Kershaw 2/2 dang I just woke up.
Time to destory Sherrill and with our luck it probably a 1 2 3 inning.
Dang Freddie took him out.
The Duckbill Sherrill has become a poor excuse for a LOOGY if he can only pitch to a left-handed hitting pitcher!!!!!
Way to go Casey!!!
Casey Blake!!!
Yeah Blake
When I was checking those attendance last night I also find that our bullpen ERA is ranked 29th ahead of the Red Sox and surely this need to improve. The Marlins bullpen ERA is under 2.
I blame (in this order) Torre, Honeycutt, Ned, and Frank.
.
Two of the four are already gone. We need to jettison the other two – Honeycutt and Ned!
Maybe Kershaw would pitch a CG.
I would rather have Kershaw finish the game than Broxton. I don’t need a heart attack today.
Me too! Don’t want to mess up my relaxing anfternoon.
Oops, afternoon 🙂
I’m with you there STT!!!
Drinking in the anfternoon again Tru??!!
National League Leaders NL BATTING AVERAGE AVG
1. Joey Votto, CIN .418
2. Matt Kemp, LAD .414
3. Andre Ethier, LAD .392
4. Starlin Castro, CHC .375
5. Prince Fielder, MIL .368
This was before the game.
Yeah Kershaw in for the CG.
Put me down for the over 1000 posts. The other time though, we were actually trying to get it over 1000.
Damn that Chipper blah.
NOOOO NOT BROX
Well SHIT!!!
Boldly said 🙂
Mattingly did the right thing IMO
I agree!!!
Yep, I would have stayed with Kersh myself. I’ve got no confidence in Brox!! It was Kershs’ game. He just didn’t get that last pitch in far enough!! Damn!!!
Donnie did not manage this game well. Left Kid K in too long, the walks were a tip-off donnie. Putting sands in for Gywnn, Big Mistake, allowed the runner to advance on the throw. Just F’d it up!
mattingly just lost that game for us, kersh shoulda been takin out when jones got on
If Broxton gave up a the 2 runs HR’s than we would all be on his case.
I hate 1-2 count they got to 3-2 you have to put the game away.
RALLY TIME!!
That’s the attitude, Dodger4life, this game ain’t over yet. We’ve got to build on the momentum of the post-McCourt winning streak!! Winning!!!!
ah riduculous, leaves kid K in to cough it up, yet Kid K doesnt get to bat to help win it, when he had two hits (tied with the most today) Just a Blown game, especially when the unproductive hitter go yard to take the lead Come On dodgers win this thing
Sorry but no it not and Uggla should be out at 2nd bases.
Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!
Way to go Casey!!! Wow!!!
Way to go Casey! let’s finish this game, come on Dre!!!
Blake is CLUTCH!!
Nice hit, Casey!! Let’s go Dre!
30,711 today.
No way!!!!
You seem surprised Nelly!!!! I guess the paid attendance will always be more than are actually there. Good part is, the non attendees aren’t parking or buying food and drinks!!!
I’m just reporting what Vinny said. I don’t think the actual count is even close to that. I’ll bet there wasn’t 10,000 people there.
Thanks Trumom!!! Sounds like the crowd is pretty sparse!!! Dad will be pleased!!
lol really I check when the game is over. Let’s not be silly of course it probably 10,000 there.
That’s good news!! Thanks Shad!!!
Im impressed despite donnie the dodgers manage to tie it. Come ON, I guess Matt gets to have the walk off??? Please!!!
I dont think I can watch this anymore with our bullpen
Can Broxton get back on the road to redemption with a scoreless 10th?
Donnie your killing me, leaving Brox in???!!!
Why not Broxton spot was coming up and there was no pressure for him.
Game 12 of 2010 was 35,659 – Back in the saddle again!
Seems that upper 90s 100MPH heater is gone from Brox. and walking a batter geez,….
Lets Go Dodgers Lets GO!
Way to go, Broxton! That wasn’t too painful. My face only turned two shades of blue while I was holding my breath.
Kemp might not a day off too many strikeout.
What the hell happened?!!?? Kersh had two outs in the ninth and no one on, so I went back to work. Jeezzzz.
Who gave you permission to go back to work?
.
Kersh blew out with a single, single, walk, and single. Then, believe it or not, Broxton saved his ass.
lol so we can blame you now.
Lessons learned in post-McCourt Dodger history:
.
1. Garland can actually pitch a complete game (who knew??)
2. The Beaver is not allowed to return to work prematurely.
Donnie – Better hold back Jansen in case AJ gets hurt.
Time to end this shit!!!!
Woo-hoo…here we go!
Told you! Dre & Matty 🙂
RALLY TIME!!!
Gee, Mrs. Cleaver, could you talk to your son Beaver? You see, Beaver went back to work early and the Dodgers almost lost. Could you ask him to not do that again?
🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 8) 🙂 🙂 8)

Kemp walk-off!
.
Post-McCourt Dodgers winning streak 2-0!!!!!!!!!!
.
Woohoo!
Andre and Matt naturally!!! Way to go!!! Wow!!!
It sure helps to have Uribe actually showing a little power out there to help protect Kemp.
I’m surprise Freddie didn’t ibb Kemp.
Yep Shad!! Big mistake, but, Kemp looked like shit all day at the plate!! Uribe was getting it done!!! Like STT said!!!
Ok Its party time, as I hoped Kemp with the walk -off, (just a couple of innings later), man that has got to feel good, Is it too early to party!!!??? Nah I didnt think so, not going back to work! and neither should YOU!
I’ve been on a natural high since 2:30 pm yesterday when I got a text from the wife that Frank is no longer running the Dodgers!!
.
Could barely sleep last night given the news. Watch the Dodgers take off! They are already 2-0 without Frankie. Now we need to can Ned’s ass before he continues with his stupid trades! And get rid of Conte and Honeycutt too!
Woo-Hoo, win streak!!!
Yep, I’d love to see Ned, Conte, and Honeycutt get the axe!!!! I think it is time to say good-bye to Loney also!!!
Sorry STT – my boss is a slave driver!!
Attendance 30,711 (54.8% full) – % is based on regular season capacity
See…I told that’s what Vinny said was paid attendance. I’m just saying there weren’t that many who passed through the gate. 🙂
*told you
I guess Tru was right and wonder how Vinny gets those numbers early lol?
Never doubt Trumom!!! LOL!!!
hahahaha never doubt her one second.
Well, it’s in the lawyers hands now as far as the ownership issues. However, MLB stepping in does provide some much needed stability for the players. No more McCourt shenanigans and Ned panic moves and bad deals!!! They’ve got some serious decisions to make as far as Loney!!! He sucks!!!
I still say bat him 2nd and look how well Blake is doing in front of Ethier? Blake is 5/10 in his last 2 games.
He went from .242 to back over .300+.
BTW, I wonder what sweet nothings Torre’s been whispering in Bud’s ear about Frank…
.
Maybe JoJo’s not quite as worthless as I thought?
Maybe you’re right about that. What I fear is that Bud will hand the reins of the Dodgers over to Torre – what a fiasco that would be!
Troncoso sent down, so that Padilla can be activated.
My top picks for who should be leading the Dodgers post-McCourt:
.
1. DodgerEric
2. Kim Ng

What’s good having a good pitching staff/bullpen with no offense like the Padres and A’s or having one of the worst bullpen and they could improve if everyone stop overachieving with no offense? I hate seeing the Padres numbers like this.

Ouch like I said the Marlins bullpen ERA is under 2 and we’re ranked ahead of the Red Sox.
NOTES: Thursday marked the 121st anniversary of the first win by the Dodgers franchise, which was then known as the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. The team they beat was the Boston Beaneaters, who are now the Braves. In honor of that occasion, both teams wore throwback uniforms, with Atlanta dressed in circa-1944 Boston Braves apparel. … Braves RF Jason Heyward(notes), who was 0 for 13 in the first three games of this series and struck out three times on Wednesday, got the day off against a left-handed starter. He is 3 for 41 lifetime against Dodgers pitching with 15 strikeouts. … Thursday marked the Dodgers’ 900th consecutive regular-season home game since their last rainout on April 17, 2000, against Houston. It also was the 44th anniversary of their first rainout at Chavez Ravine.
No wonder they wore those throwback uniform.
