Trying out the new blog…

As many of you know, we’ve crossed over to WordPress for the MLBlogs group, so this is a test to make sure I’m posting correctly.

Hopefully the new format will make things better for all of you…please bear with me as I learn the new tools.

Josh – We love it!!! Thanks!!!
    .
Well, we can put this one in the “you can’t win them all category.” Just think, the worst we can do is tie this series.

  2. nedsajerk

I guess I got the last couple of post from the other thread but I was saying. Oh come on I was happy he made the team and work his butt off in ST but maybe he need more time. Dejesus should had drop that on purpose to get the dp.

  3. nedsajerk

Cain vs us 0-8 now 3-8 and winning the last 3 games. I guess Lopez isn’t with the club today because of the death.

  4. swood

I know its good to be optimistic at the beginning of the season but I just can’t see this team scoring many runs. I mean there’s no power in the lineup

  5. nedsajerk

Well enjoy all your runs today but this might felt bad for Zito since he doesn’t get any runs support.

  6. lbirken

Josh, we are all getting used to this new blog format. When you learn all the new tools let me know!

  7. ThinkingBlue

Just got home and WHAT IS UP WITH THIS GAME! WELL I’m glad my daugthers Softball’s team WON! The Huskies beat the Bulldogs!

  8. nellyjune

It will better tomorrow Dodger fans. We have Zito tomorrow, and we generally do well against him.
    .
Glad to see Andre go 3 for 4.

  9. nedsajerk

Of course I had this game as a lost and the Cain games as a win because we always do well against him despite those 2 wins he had last year. Zito numbers aren’t that bad vs us because he has been pitching well vs us.

      • jhallwally

I think that was paid attendance, not actual attendance Nelly. Plus, I’d be pretty pissed if I spent my hard earned money and time to come out on a Sat afternoon, and the Dodgers give me this crap lineup.

Hey, I created this image from a notepad so I could show how to use the HTML tags, as they should be typed.
    .
To preview your html BEFORE you post, there are two ways:
1.) Type your post in notepad, save it as a “.html” file, and open the file in your browser
    or
2.) NOTE: can be unsafe type “preview HTML” in a Google search, and find a site where you can preview HTML. The caveat is that you don’t know who runs these sites, or if/what they’re putting on your computer, so tread carefully if you do this.
    .
    Hope this helps.

  11. nedsajerk

Wow I can’t believe we almost had 2 no hitter Kyle Drabek was part of that Halladay trade for the Blue Jays had a no hitter through 6th I think before that was broken up and Tillman had one through 6 but of course pitch count ruining that

    Baltimore Orioles
Pitchers IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
    C Tillman 6.0 0 0 0 3 5 0 101-58 0.00
    J Accardo 1.0 2 0 0 1 0 0 18-10 0.00
    M Gonzalez 0.1 0 1 1 2 0 0 15-5 27.00
    K Uehara 0.2 1 0 0 0 1 0 8-7 0.00
    Totals 8.0 3 1 1 6 6 0 142-80

Game Notes ORIOLES STARTING PITCHER CHRIS TILLMAN DID NOT ALLOW A HIT THROUGH HIS SIX INNINGS. HE WAS REPLACED BY JEREMY ACCARDO TO START THE SEVENTH.
RAYS CENTERFIELDER B.J. UPTON SINGLED WITH TWO OUTS IN THE SEVENTH INNING TO END THE ORIOLES’ BID FOR A COMBINED NO-HITTER.

  12. nedsajerk

lol you leave the game because of PC with a no hitter intact through 6th and your team can’t scored that would make anyone SP mad.

  13. trublu4ever

Wally & Beav posted a comment but, it doesn’t show up here…it happened this morning with lbirken too. I wonder if they get lost somewhere in transmission?

    • northstateblues

Happened to me yesterday… finally posted it. I do know that there are a lot of MLBlogs owners who are having trouble with their settings causing random comments to be “considered for moderation”.
      .
Hope that’s the case, because my post was about what happened to the Giants fan in the parking lot on Opening Day, and I don’t feel it said anything particularly incendiary. It didn’t show up today, over a day later.

  14. trublu4ever

Very strange, North. Yesterday I tried to do a “lol” and, it said it was a duplicate comment….so, I had to “lol, lol” πŸ™‚

  15. cpompe1

Well, that wasn’t a game I wanted to see from our Boys in Blue to play so early in the season. Hopefully this isn’t a bad sign of things to come. It’s still only been 3 games. I reserve judgment on any one player or on the team as a whole until one month has passed. But I went thru the steps to change my gravatar. I want to see if I did it right and if my image will show up when I post this comment. Lets see…

  16. cpompe1

Hey, it worked! Maybe later I’ll REALLY play around with my gravatar and come up with more original images. But this’ll do for now…

  17. cpompe1

Thx Trumom! I thought I’d start out with one image, but I’d like to play around with it and get more and different gravatars for me! I can easily see having only one picture getting kinda boring after a while. So how are you these days?

  18. cpompe1

Hey, my Nellygirl! I just noticed you up there! I read your comment a few days ago about you talking about Michael and NM! That is GREAT news. And yes, I do recognize that a certain someone that went thru the same type of thing but only in the state of AZ, not NM! πŸ™‚ But I think that’s great news!

  19. cpompe1

Yeah, you Norcal people do get hit harder than us Socal people do when it rains (and in your case, I’m sure it isn’t only limited to rain!) I mean, we get snow down here, but not too much snow falls in Ventura. But my husband always tells me about when it did snow on the Ventura Pier some 50 years ago. Now, that would’ve been a sight to see!

  20. cpompe1

Hey Jhall! No, it wasn’t one of their better games today. Let’s just hope and pray that they don’t let a team steamroll them the way the gnats did. But Cain was unbelievable today. Boy, how I long for the days where Cain couldn’t win against the Dodgers…

  21. jhallwally

Hi’Ya CP!! Yep, you gotta give it up for Cain, but, Donny didn’t exactly put a great lineup out there. Geez!!!

  22. trublu4ever

Nellyjune and I have decided that if we go to a Dodger game it will NEVER be a DAY GAME!!!!! If we spend that kind of money, we want to see the “A” team out there!

    • nellyjune

No day games or Sunday games for me. The Giants were playing different people all three days, but they never had more than 2 regulars switched out at any one time. Bill doesn’t understand why three games into the season Dodger Stadium isn’t packed. We both thought it would at least be packed thru this series.

      • nellyjune

Well, we understand that messagebear, dodgereric, et. all are getting their wish – just didn’t expect it to start so soon.

  23. cpompe1

No, Donny didn’t. But I think the time to β€œexperiment” is this early in the season. I really don’t think that Donny will constantly run a lineup like this out there on day games after night games. At least I hope he doesn’t. I mean, remember some of those that made the 25 man roster coming out of ST only did so because of injuries. But then again, no telling how the currently injured players will be after they come back.

    • jhallwally

You’re probably right CP!!! Crap, they’ve got two days off next week already. I’m OK with giving Ferk the day off, but I would have gone with Gwynn in left and leading off. Carroll should have been batting 2nd. Miles and DeJesus should have been hitting 7 and 8. JMO!!!

      • nellyjune

I am assuming that If I was a season ticket holder, it may not bother me as much if the day game or Sunday lineup is designed to give some players a day off. However, those of us only going once or a few times a year (not that I am going anytime soon) I want to see the starters, give or take one or two vs. six.
        .
It’s early so I hope this doesn’t become the norm like it was last year.

  24. trublu4ever

He supposedly put that lineup out there because lefties hit Cain better than righties….but, those lefties, except for James and Andre were rookies!

  25. cpompe1

Yeah, I remember hearing that comment on the telecast. But it’s a new season and good players make good adjustments in the off season. And I’d certainly put Cain in that category of good players.

  26. cpompe1

Like I said before, I hold off on passing judgment on the team until after they’ve played for a month. For me, it’s just too difficult to pass judgment until they’ve played x number of games…

    • jhallwally

Yep, too soon to get too worried about it. I think we have a real good shot at them tomorrow with Kuroda against Zito. Should have the A team on the field and well rested. LOL!!!

  27. enchantedTheBeav

There are way too many days that it wouldn’t matter if it was Don Drysdale out there or Don Knotts, this team still couldn’t put any runs on the board.

  28. cpompe1

Yeah. They better have their A team tomorrow. My husband and I have tickets to the game! And if the Dodgers win tomorrow, the Dodgers will have an undefeated record in games that I have attended in 2011!

  29. cpompe1

Hey, Jhall, I’ve gotta questions for you. Okay, when I’ve been posting, I just post a new comment and my gravatar is all the way to the left. But I’ve noticed on a few of your posts, that it’s ever so slightly indented. Is that because you hit the Reply link and then posted? That’s the only thing I can think of why it does that.

  30. cpompe1

Well, I’m getting tired, so I’ll sign off for now. Who knows, the next time I sign in, I just may have a new gravatar!!! G’nite all…

  31. jhallwally

At least Ethier was finding his stroke today!!! Game ball to Cormier for sucking up those innings and saving the bullpen.

  32. Koufax1963

Wow ! a new flexible blog or what? Hi ITD the season has started! and taking 2 from the the WS champs is 2X what I thought the boys in blue would do. So lets make it 3 and forget today.

  33. 32and53fan

Hello ITDers! I’m glad to see a better blogging tool.
Tough outing for Lilly today but he will be fine.
I am saddened to hear about how low life Dodger fans think they can go berserk at the stadium. It is beyond my comprehension to think how it would be to attend a game with my family and end up in critical condition in the hospital. Those animals responsible for the attack should be severely dealt with.

  34. sparkleplenty_1

Josh, if it’s not too much trouble, could you please post how to work with the new tools. I’ve been trying to post a gravatar and I’m SO lost! Many thanks!!

    • northstateblues

Sparkle, go to Gravatar’s site. You’ll have to register your e-mail with them, it’d have to be the same one you use to log in here. Then you can upload a photo (or photos) to use as your avatar.
      .
      Hope that helps

      • sparkleplenty1

Thank you SO MUCH NSB! It was very easy to do – just hope the image shows up. I’ll check back later. πŸ™‚

  35. northstateblues

Why are all the comments bold?
    .
More bugs, but at least this season the changes are worth it.

  36. aerospacecase

I am trying the bold/unbold tag before the text to see if that works.
Does anybody know how to use fixed pitch fonts for stats so they line up correctly?

  37. nellyjune

Northstateblues – Is it possible for the parts that are bold right now is due to the fact that someone did not close with a hashtag?

  38. Dodger4life

Good Morning Everybody…It looks like we are all makeing bold statements now.
    .
Were gonna have days like yesterday, let’s bounce back tonight!
    .
Have a Wonderful Sunday, enjoy the game this evening and GO DODGERS!!

  39. nellyjune

Just think – all the experts said over and over again all off season how Boston was going to dominate. Well, they are 0-2 because Texas has handed their assses to them so far this season. Thank goodness we actual have to play the games or the Yankees and the Red Sox would have perfect records and one of them would be winning the World Series every year.
    .
    GO DODGERS!!!

    • northstateblues

I hear that. But McCourt should be doing more to show his displeasure of the events, as opposed to being an isolated incident.
      .
Isolated incident on Opening Day? Maybe.
      .
Isolated incident at Dodger Stadium, on average? HARDLY

    • northstateblues

First 3 games at Dodger Stadium in 2010: vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks.
      .
First 3 games at Dodger Stadium in 2011: vs. the World Champ Hated Giants.
      .
Just wait, ESPECIALLY as McCourt’s brush-off of the events of March 31st generate more rage.

  40. dodgereric

That’s the only way to get rid of the owner, tru. The only way. Unfortunately, they report the tickets sold number, not the turnstiles. In fact, they don’t even have turnstiles any more, do they? A season-ticket holder can miss every game, but the count won’t care.

    • jhallwally

I agree totally!!! Frank will hang on as long as he can stretch out the money. If the money stream is reduced significantly, his huge debt will eventually catch up with him.

  41. crzblue

    Thanks Jhall & Tru.
They have not converted all the blogs here so in the meantime, we cannot post pics and videos in our own blog. I see a few have complained to Mark when are we getting to be upgrated. I have not checked if all the pro blogs have been converted.

  42. jhallwally

Well, I hope Donny has learned not to let Sandoval beat you!!! He’s had the most success against Kuroda!!!

  43. Dodger32

I was just thinking what other manager gives some of his regulars off after 2 games? They’re off tomorrow, so you mean they couldn’t play in 4 straight games after a whole 6 months of rest? Why doesn’t Donnie send them all on a 2 week vacation to the Bahamas after they play 2 games? The other thing I’ve been thinking is if McCourt is serious and feels bad about what happened in the parking lot the other night, why doesn’t he offer a reward for info leading to the arrest and conviction of those thugs? After all it’s true he might have to skip paying his hair stylist for a week, but I think it might be a classy thing to do.

    • jhallwally

I’m totally with you 32, on both points!!! Step up to the plate Frank!!! At the very least, he should have had Paul and Carroll batting 1 and 2 and Miles and DeJesus batting 7 and 8 if he was going to play that lineup. Hopefully, he got that Torresque crap out of his system!!!

      • nellyjune

Frank should fork over the money for the medical bills too, whether the poor guy has insurance or not. If he has insurance, then Frank should pay the insurance company.

      • northstateblues

        Frank? Pay?!!
        .
Funniest thing I ever heard in my life!
        .
But I wish he’d prove me wrong.
        .
Not for my sake. For Bryan Stow.

    • northstateblues

Judging from his brush-off statements, McCourt won’t do it because it IS the classy thing to do.
      .
If he continues sitting on his hands, what else could be the summation?

  44. enchantedTheBeav

The way I’m seeing Donnie operate both in ST and the first 3 games, its like a little league manager making sure everybody gets to play.

  45. jhallwally

Just watching BaseBall Tonight on ESPN!!! Dodger Stadium parking can accomadate 16,000. At $20.00 a shot, that’s $320,000.00. Times 81, that’s close to 26M before anyone leaves the car. USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION DODGER FANS!!!!

  46. jhallwally

Good thoughts and prayers go out to Davey Lopes and his family, as well as Bryan Snow and his family!!!

  47. trublu4ever

Hi, vl ~ good to see you back. The bold print started happening last night. Don’t know why but, this blog is a lot better now,

  48. enchantedTheBeav

Good to see VL back! I noticed “good” swood was back the other day as well. Nice to see some old names come around.

  49. vl4eccjr

Thanks tru & nells. Great to be back with a more positive & hopefull outlook for this season versus the mess from last year. I notice the Dodger website home page had changed with no direct link to ITD. I had to look harder to find it.

    • jhallwally

Good to see you VL!!! Glad your back!!! Yep, I think we are a better team going in this year than last year!!!

  50. vl4eccjr

Hey enchanted! You still in Cruces? I’m still here in the left armpit of west Texas(Odessa) trying to enjoy the drought & wild fires today..

      • vl4eccjr

Wow! Pretty rare hearing of anyone moving to Cali these days with so many leaving. That’s a nice area to live in, but far from the ravine to see home games.

  51. enchantedTheBeav

Why is it this team (and last year’s) has one good inning, then goes in the tank? They’ve got Zito looking all world now.

    • jhallwally

They still seem to have Mama’s milk on their breath!!! They need a taste of blood. Keep going for the jugular!!!

  52. nellyjune

Okay – who heard the public service announcement on the radio about keeping the rivalry on the field? Good try Frank, but that won’t fix the problem.

  53. vl4eccjr

As far as the violence goes between the fans, I sure hope it doesn’t get like it was at the Colliseum the last couple of years the Raiders were there. Some of those escapades there got downright scary.

  54. nedsajerk

I know I’m late but I still hate infield single with 2 outs to the other team and they got 3 hits to produce that 1 run as I type this than Burrell hit another one of those later inning HR.

  55. enchantedTheBeav

What’s unacceptible it that three of the first four batters get hits, and not one since against Barry Zito. BARRY ZITO!!!

  56. vl4eccjr

Glad to have Lopes back in Dodger Blue! Could play a HUGE factor this season with ALOT less base running blunders. Condolences to his family.

  57. nedsajerk

Wow the Indians is the 1st team to turned a TP this season? That’s too early and I bet that would be the last one this season lol.

  58. nellyjune

They are no Vin Scully, but this group of commentators is a huge improvement over Joe Morgan. Other than being a gnat announcer, I didn’t mind Jon Miller so much, but Joe Morgan needed to go. This group doesn’t talk to us like we are idiots, and I appreciate that.

  59. nellyjune

I heard that!! It was very nice to hear opposed to Charlie who doesn’t appear to like him at all.

    • trublu4ever

Charlie doesn’t like any of the players. Oh, wait, he did have a man crush on Junapy πŸ™‚ Must have cried when he left us.

  60. enchantedTheBeav

I see Guerrier is another fine Ned pick-up. Glad we have his expertise out of the bully for the next three years.

    • nellyjune

I am not so sure they didn’t pitch around Belt, with the thinking it’s better off to walk in a run versus a grand slam over the center field wall. Just wondering…..

      • enchantedTheBeav

Possible, but I really wasn’t impressed by Guerrier all through ST. Certainly don’t see why they gave a middle reliever $12mil for three years. He’s not even close to being a substitute closer either.

      • nellyjune

I don’t remember him much from spring training, but you are right. That is too much money to spend on him.

  61. nedsajerk

Wow terrible I just seen the play by play on that TP.

Justin Masterson pitching for Cleveland CHW CLE
    C Quentin walked. 1 0
A Pierzynski singled to center, C Quentin to second. 1 0
A Ramirez bunt popped into triple play, first to second to shortstop, A Pierzynski out at first, C Quentin out at second.

  62. nedsajerk

What the heck yahoo have Broxton at 300 pounds blah and where did yahoo get there information from?

  63. nellyjune

Wow!!! Once again, Back to your regularly scheduled breathing – sigh πŸ™‚
    .
    WAY TO GO DODGERS!!!!

  64. vl4eccjr

Seems to always be nail biting time anymore when Brox comes in to close. I’m not liking what I’m seeing so far this season. 3 of 4 from the Giants is a good start though. πŸ™‚

  65. Dodger4life

    Way To Go Boy’s!!
    .
    3 Down! Pass the flask!!
    .
    It’s Soulshine Time!!
    .
    97 to go until Fall!!

  66. enchantedTheBeav

That ought to take a little luster off their opening day ceremonies up in Frisco.
    .
Whatever happened to that Beat L.A. banner thing their fans were going to do here on opening day?

    • trublu4ever

They did fly one, Enchanted. But, so did we! And, from what I understand, you couldn’t even read theirs πŸ™‚

      • nellyjune

Thanks Jhall!!! I will enjoy it at work more!!!
        .
Enchanted – about the gnats sign
        – As a person who deals with signs and labeling, you would have been embarrassed to sell the gnat fans that sign for $8000. It was absolutely horrible. You honestly couldn’t even read it. The print was all squished together and it was orange on top of black – just horrible!!! The gnat fans should ask for their money back
        πŸ™‚

  67. koufax1963

3 of 4 from the WS Champs is great. Brox scares me, but if its nerves we both had it tonight! Furcal! Kemp! Pass it around. Go Dodgers! Loved the interview with Lasorda!

  68. nedsajerk

    MLB – Broxton vs Giants
Jonathan Broxton has allowed 25 home runs in his career, 7 of them to Giants hitters. That’s 28 percent of his home runs allowed to a team against who he’s thrown just over 9 percent of his innings.

Don’t let’s him pitch vs the Giants.

If I remember correctly “our” banner said, “LA – 5, SF – 1″ or something to that effect.

    2010 attendance, 4 games = 189,637
    2011 attendance, 4 games = 192,539

Yes, I know it’s against the <abbr title"”>losers this year and not AZ, but it still sucks. Let’s all hope people start staying home soon.

    • dodgereric

Interesting that running the cursor over “gnats” from my home computer shows the “loser” I intended, but when I do it from work – nothing happens. Maybe it’s my boss telling me to get back to work. πŸ™‚

  71. kpookiemon

We shall see how this team fares under Mattingley and Lopes. McCourt doesn’t exist for me. It’s Dodger season!

  72. Collie

Hi all! I hope everybody is well. I was busy today so I only saw a few of the later innings. Nice to get a win. Funny to hear my Giant friends complain about the broadcasters tonight — they were missing Miller & Morgan. They finally got to hear some announcers not gush about everyone of their players.
    .
Tru — I like your new Avatar photo! You look like you’ve been hittin the gym! πŸ˜‰ Keep up the hard work!
    .
I missed most of the postgame stuff here as I had our 1st game tonight. Buoy these bones are getting old. Not used to running the bases. I’m going to be hurtin tomorrow but we got the W so all is great!
    .
    Take care & go Blue!!

  73. Collie

    D4 — I love your countdown thingy — Cool!!
    .
I missed the conversation about the Dodger win total this year — I’m going with 83.

  74. Dodger4life

Good Morning ITD, Dodger Faithful and Our Boy’s in Blue…
    .
I must say, Winning is Fun!!
    .
    Enjoy your Monday….Keep Thinking Blue!!!
    .
    GO DODGERS!!

  75. emma

Is easier to post comment from my phone now with this new blog application. Just caught up with all the comments on my train commute. Glad the team is off. Need a break after attending all 5 games at home. Will be in san Diego sat & sun. Anyone here going?
Looks like my avatar isn’t working.

  76. Dodger32

I’m glad that the Dodgers finally thought it appropriate to put up a reward for any info leading to the arrest and conviction of those things that beat up the Giant fan. But don’t you think 10 grand is a bit low? Just like McCourt to cheap out on something, I guess he needs his money to buy new shoes or something important.

    • dodgereric

I don’t like to kid about something this serious, but this shows the depth of my dislike for the owner.

I wouldn’t doubt that he tries to spread out the money over 5 years……

I heard someone on the radio yesterday give out a great idea. We all know that the organization is in great denial over the skunk problem in Dodger Stadium. I challenge Dodger Management to stick their staffers in the crowd the next time the gnats come to town. And make ’em wear gnat gear. Then maybe they’ll see what it’s like.

  77. Emma

With so many people around, I imagine, how someone did not snap of picture of those two criminals?
    .
Yesterday my friend was snapping picures of a Giant fan who was taunting Dodger fans with his Giant World Series flag, she was zooming on the guy when he was being escorted from his seat when she spotted another Giant fan with a flask on his lap pouring liquor into his cup. She snapped the pic and was showing it to us. A friend that was standing in back of us (we sit in the last row), told a security lady about the pic. She came over to look at the pic and she and another security guy went over to the guy and escorted him out. She is good with her pictures.

Speaking from personal experience on this issue, I have been to both ballparks with my family, who if you are reading this blog for the first time, are half gnat fans and half Dodgers fans. There is a lot of healthy rivalry and some over the top taunting at both ballparks, but living up here I don’t think I have ever heard of a fan of another team being hospitalized over wearing the visiting colors. I will definitely be paying more attention to this issue because it is very disturbing indeed, especially knowing this Giants fan seemed like a pretty normal guy. I am hoping whoever did this is found.

……..and punished to the fullest extent of the law. And let’s hope that there aren’t any criminals up there as big as the criminals we have down here that will be looking for retribution come Monday.

      • trublu4ever

They are already talking about beefing up security at AT & T Park fearing retaliation.

      • Nellyjune

I am a little concerned about retaliation as well. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, or it could be a very bad thing for both teams and the fans that are from the visiting team.

I think pretty much everybody knows my feelings about the security issue at Dodger Stadium.
    .
I still feel years later that nothing has changed. This isn’t an isolated incident. For McCourt to say so is BS. Maybe to the degree that this person was injured but not the fighting and people who are there to cause problems. These people could be taken care of if Frank was serious about it. I won’t go into my ideas again as it doesn’t really matter. I think i have some great ideas on how to get it so these people realize they aren’t allowed in Dodger stadium — at least until they learn how to properly respect others. Deaf ears is where it lies.
    .
Frank can choose — is he going to continue to let these people in because they buy lots of beer – or is he going to get serious & honest with himself & the fans and get them out? The latter would to me be the wise choice — many honest ethical people stay away because of these punks – they would probably come back with their famalies if the punks were gone. Then their kids would grow up loving baseball & the Dodgers and the next generation would be built.
    .
As i have before, I challenge Frank to do something. This isn’t just embarrasing it’s plain & simple wrong…

Good afternoon ITD boys and girls!
Well, that was nice to see last night. 2011 Dodger record when I go to the game: 2 wins, 0 losses!!! We saw that PSA at the stadium last night. A nice piece, but it’s gonna take A LOT MORE than that to solve the problem. My husband even came up with a good idea: How about have undercover officers at the game? And in the visitor’s jersey and in Dodger jerseys. I mean these idiots just see one jersey or another and react according to their feeble little minds. I’d like to see them do that to an undercover officer and get arrested on the spot! I think that’ll help curtail these incidents. I mean, I’ve been to the stadium enough times to know that it’s just not those in Giant uniforms that’s the problem. I see and hear the same idiotic behavior towards Cubs and Angels fans. A couple of years ago we went to a Cubs game at Dodger stadium with a good family friend who is a lifelong Cubs fan, and wore the Cubs’ jersey proudly. Now Judy is a sweet, 70 year old woman who wouldn’t hurt a fly. The Cubs lost that game and when we were leaving, some jerk Dodger fans came up and were screaming in Judy’s face. This is more than unacceptable (sorry for treading on the trademark).

Oh, and one more thing. You think Thursday night was bad, I shutter to think what’s going to happen on those Β½ price food and drink games. Oh, and if you don’t know, Β½ price ALSO APPLIES TO BEER SALES

  82. trublu4ever

Very well stated Collie & CP….let’s hope the front office does something about it! As Collie pointed out, though, the problem hasn’t gotten any better since he brought it up two years ago. And, heaven forbid they DECREASE BEER SALES!

  83. Nellyjune

CP – you are right!! It doesn’t just apply to Giants fans. I was at Dodgers Stadium during a Padres game, and it wasn’t much better how they were treating their fans either.

  84. enchantedTheBeav

What happened to the supposed ex-Secret Service agent they hired 2-3 years back? Wasn’t that supposed to solve the problem?
    .
And $10000 reward (I assume offered by the city, not Frank) is like you or me taking a dollar out of our wallets and offering as a reward. Its just another embarrassment to this franchise.
    .
But I’m SO happy that other than that little incident it didn’t spoil Frank’s perfect opening day.

    • Nellyjune

It didn’t spoil his opening day, but think about what it did to that poor Giants fan and his family, friends and co-workers 😦

    • Nellyjune

Dodgereric – I am not sure what provoked this, but the person who is lying in the hospital in an induced coma could have just as easily been my son or husband. Michael has never been known to be a quiet Giants fan, and so even if this guy said a few things about his team or ours, it certainly isn’t any reason to send a fan to the hospital.

      • dodgereric

Very true Junie. And it could be me when I wear Buckner’s 22 in Anaheim or San Diego or my King’s jersey when I go to whatever they call The Pond these days.

      • dodgereric

At the worst, these felons are depriving us of our health and happiness. And at the least, of enjoying our God-given rights as Americans. But they don’t care about any of that. They’re just urinating around what they perceive to be their territory. I’d call them “dogs”, but I love dogs too much.

      • nellyjune

I agree completely, and yes, Lucy and Shadow would be offended if you called these people dogs. We love them too much to make that comparison πŸ™‚

  85. messagebear

Frank’s attitude just reminds me of that old poor joke “Other than that how did you enjoy the play, Mrs. Lincoln”. And the $10,000 reward was not established by Frank or on behalf of the Dodgers – it was established by one of LA City’s councilmen. Frank’s attorneys no doubt don’t want to infer any liability in case of a lawsuit, which I hope tries to take him for many millions that he hasn’t got.
SELL THE TEAM, Frank while the public image is right.

Once again situational hitting has left the group. When was the last time we had a base hit when we needed it? AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!! Quit swinging for the fences and hit a pitching wedge in right center and score some runs!!!!!
