Caravan cruising across L.A.
So far, it’s been a succesful first day of the annual community caravan. I got to visit the first stop, at the L.A. River cleanup, and lots of Dodger fans were there with Don Mattingly, Andre Ethier, James Loney and a whole crew of former Dodgers, who were doing their best to Think Blue and Act Green.
The caravan continued on to USC University Hospital, followed by King Middle School and will also make a visit to Lopez Tonight, so tune in this evening to see these guys on the late night talk circuit.
We’re back at it tomorrow morning with plenty more stops, so keep your eye out on the roads for a blue bus with the Dodgers Caravan across the side of it. Or follow the caravan virtually on twitter @dodgers, where we’re sending out photos all day.
Also, in response to the question of whether or not we’d wear the Brooklyn uniforms on the road in NY…I’m pretty sure that has to come with MLB approval well in advance and at the request of the home team. So, unless the Mets asked us to do this, I don’t think we can just show up in Brooklyn uniforms for their game. It’s an interesting thought though for down the road and something we can look into. Appreciate the idea…and for those who haven’t voted, check out dodgers.com/throwback and vote…it’s very close between two choices and only four days left to weigh in.

Happy Valentines day to my ITD family.
Jhall!!!! I am sitting here watching Man vs. Food, and Adam is in Ohio State Buckeyeville. Hubby days it’s a repeat, but I haven’t seen it. Anyhow, his first stop was Thurman’s, then he went to Schmidt’s Sausage House, and then he did his challenge at Ohio Deli by eating a Dagwood, which he defeated.
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s on a Monday when you are dealing with sugared-up, hyper first graders wasn’t so fun, but hopefully tomorrow, it’s all business as usual.
Can’t wait for spring training to begin!!!!

My friends and I had a wonderful time hanging with our boys in Blue and cleaning up the river. We uncovered a shopping cart with branches of a Christmas tree and lights. I scraped my leg trying to pull that as it had some other sharp wires but First Aid cleaned me up. Lost my blackberry when I left it on top of the car and was driving on San Fernando road when we heard a clump, clump noise. Oh well, went and got a better phone.

Hi’Ya Nelly!! I’ve been Thurmanized!! Best hamburger in town. Also the Bahama Mamas at Schmidts are awesome. And, nothing like tailgating an OSU Buckeye game.

Thanks JOSH, for responding so quickly about what you thought about the Dodgers wearing a Brooklyn road uniform at Citi Field. I’ll see what I can do to try to persuade or find someone who can persuade the Mets to do it.
It’s hard to say what their fan’s reaction would be but it would be one fine day for me.
I hope the Dodgers have enough money for gas to get to Arizona for spring training.
I can’t wait either Jhall!!! Aside from the three-ring circus with our owners, it will be great to see the players back in action.
Looks like our rivals really are going to get this done, but our boys in Blue are not letting it phase them. It makes you appreciate what classy players James and Andre really are, and I am glad to have the representing the Dodgers, both on and off the field.

That’d be cool if the Dodgers could wear their road throwbacks on the road. It definitely would make news in New York. I don’t know what the Mets would have to gain from it, they’re the beneficiaries of the Dodgers’ and Giants’ decision to leave… but it’s a part of the team’s heritage, and, as been mentioned by commentors on Dodger blogs around the web, I wonder if the Brooklyn fans who were embittered by the move would’ve been happy if O’Malley caved and moved the team to Shea and became the Queens Dodgers, or the New York Dodgers.
If you ask me, I always thought had they gone to Queens, making them the Long Island Dodgers would’ve been a good choice, seeing as both Brooklyn and Queens are on the Island. Of course, New Jersey was courting them too, and the New Jersey Dodgers might’ve worked… but it was BROOKLYN’S team, and it would’ve been another case of NYC at-large attempting to steal the Brooklyn-ness from Brooklyn, and I wonder how the Brooklynites would’ve felt watching THEIR team move far enough to not be Brooklyn’s exclusive team, but close enough to hurt when they see them everyday in that bowl of a stadium.
I guess at least by moving halfway across the country (as one Brooklynite’s account stated, “they might as well have moved to Jupiter”), the distance might’ve made it easier to deal with…
But all I can do is guess, I’m just a 30 year old Mojave Desert native who’s never been to NYC.
All in all, I’m glad the Dodgers have so much going on as to distract from the fact of who’s defending the championship (even as I live and breathe in the backbone of Giants country). But as has been mentioned before, remember what happened the last time the Giants won the championship?
