An unspeakable tragedy

As many of you know, the horrible tragedy yesterday in Tucson, AZ has touched very close to home, as the nine-year old girl who was killed, Christina Green, is the daughter of our National Crosschecker John Green. Frank McCourt issued the following statement last night:

“We lost a member of the Dodgers family today.  The entire Dodgers organization is mourning the death of John’s daughter Christina, and will do everything we can to support John, his wife Roxana and their son Dallas in the aftermath of this senseless tragedy.  I spoke with John earlier today and expressed condolences on behalf of the entire Dodgers organization.”

And of course, since learning of her ties to the Dodgers, we have received an outpouring of support from fans, front office members and media members looking to pass along their thoughts.

Feel free to share yours in the comments here and we’ll make sure that John, Roxana and the whole family receive this.

We truly thank you all for keeping their family and the families of all the victims in your thoughts and prayers.

    Dear John, Roxana, and Dallas,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this most difficult time. Only a parent who has lost a child can truly understand what you are going through. We are so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful girl Christina was. God rest her sweet soul.

    Love and prayers,

    The Orosz Family

I can’t begin to tell you how sad I am at this tragic loss. My sincere condolences go out to the entire Green family as well as the other families who lost a loved one yesterday.

As I wrote to Dodgerzona this morning, my prayers go out to the entire community and all the families involved in this senseless and disturbing tragedy. Their daughter was born on 9/11, same day as my nephew.

My heart goes out to the Green family for their loss. The fact that Christina died so young is only outweighed by the joy she brought on the day she was born. I hope everyone involved in planning and executing the shootings yesterday will be found and given the harshest possible sentence due to everyone that was lost (and may still be lost) as a result of the shootings, although I know that won’t bring Christina back to her family.

The Dodgers should play with a black armband this season for he. It would be great to dedicate this season, that they will win, to her as well.

Sorry for the loss. Such a shame.

So sad. My condolences to everyone affected by this senseless act of violence. This sort of thing certainly makes what we usually discuss around here not very important in the great scheme of things.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that the entire Dodger family have John and Roxana and Dallas and your entire family in our prayers. Such a senseless act of hate that will not go unpunished. So sad.

My thoughts and prayers to the Green family, as well as all her family and friends. This little girl’s life has touched so many people with her hopes and dreams, that I think she should get her wish of being in Major League Baseball. It would be a nice rememberance if her initials could be worn on the sleeves of all Dodger players this season.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Green family. Something like this is so senseless that it seems way out of place for anyone to have to endure. And to have a beautiful little girl struck down at such a young age seems so incomprehensible.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Green family. We live in Tucson, and are just so shocked and saddened by this tragedy.

Many thoughts and prayers with you all always. The Searer Family, Tucson, AZ.

My heart goes out to the entire Green family, as well as to all those whom were touched by this tragic and senseless event. My thoughts and prayers will be directed towards the survivors, for peace and recovery, towards the wonderful individuals whom have been called home to be with God, that they will relish in eternal happiness, and to the rest of us, that events such as this can become non-existent in the future.

    Dear John, Roxana, and Dallas.

I may never fully understand what you are going through at this moment, and all I can do is offer your family mere support in oral form. To lose someone who you cared for since birth, to have to bury your child because of someone else’s actions, is saddening and more so, a tragedy in and of itself. No parent wants to lose their child, and I’m sure no one would ever wish it upon someone else. I was always taught as a child that as we move upon in life, we lose those that we care about most, and although we may be distant in miles and time and touch to those which are no longer with us, to know that heaven’s gates opened for her, and accepted her amongst the angels. She was so young, and yet, she touched so many lives. With her loss, although inhumane in the act of itself, we all understand your solemn grief. I wish to offer you my condolences during this time, and hope and pray for you that you may one day find comfort in her memories, and less in this tragedy which occurred.

    Last Goodbyes

“To heaven’s gate I shall one day go

When I shall arrive, that answer I shall never truly know

From my birth to my passing, to and fro your eternal sorrow

May I bring joy to you, for one day, my absence will be hard to swallow

I may be too young, old, or necessary of rest

But hold onto memories of me

From when I was at my best

Be neither sad nor teary, for I left this earth fully relieved

For God’s Kingdom opened their pearly gates, and made plenty of room for me

I will look onto you and always have you in my heart

For you gave me meaning and purpose

And you did it from the start

Although tears of joy may be dripping down my face

Know that I wish to hug you, and hold you and feel your warm embrace

I met my maker, I am at peace with my soul

Know that I shall always love you

No matter where you may go

I am with you, In your heart, for you gave me comfort

    Know that
Ill always find my rightful place

For you, my words I hope bring you to a calming slumber.

I know that this poem does not fully represent everything that has happened, but I wrote it just for your family. I hope that someday, you may read it, and find comfort in it.

Thank You for your time, and I will pray for you, and keep you in my heart.

    From The Andrade Family

    Sincerily-
