Looking for something to do tomorrow?

PRIME TICKET is having a 10 1/2 hour Dodger marathon starting at noon PT, including lots of “True Blue Stories,” several “Before the Bigs” (Martin, Furcal, Ethier, Loney), “In My Own Words” (Lasorda, Blake, Kemp) and closing it out with an hour of brand new programming: Dodgers Magazine at 10 p.m. and the premiere of the newest Route of Champions at 10:30 p.m.

Dodgers Magazine features a look at Don Mattingly managing the Phoenix Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League, an interview with Clayton Kershaw, a story on the unique friendship between Tommy Lasorda and the Commander of USSTRATCOM General Kevin D. Chilton and an interview with sisters Sylvia Fisk and Esther Rosen … Sylvia is 88 and has been working at Dodger Stadium for over 30 years.

Route of Champions takes a look at life in Albuquerque for the Dodgers AAA affiliate. Stories include a look at 3rd Base prospect Russ Mitchell, the amazing journey of John Lindsey, a visit from Tommy Lasorda for “Dukes Retro Night” and the story of how General Manager John Traub has the help of his entire family at the workplace.

If you need your Fall/Winter Dodger fix, pull up a chair and tune in…

New thread…same thought…LA Times reports that former Dodger Dave Stewart (Kemp’s agent) and Davey Lopes are best of friends and that Lopes’ first project is Matt Kemp. That is GREAT news. Here’s the link:

Can someone explain what the duties or difference is between hitting coach and hitting instructor (pentland/hansen)?
Hope the mcCourts are happy now they are legal (divorce).
The virtually new coaching staff seems to be an improvement, going younger, hopefully wiser.

Funny. I would’ve guessed the difference is about $30K to $40K.

koufax, on the ITD tour Manny Mota explained how he (as hitting instructor) works with the players in the cages. The hitting coach is the “primary” instructor, in charge of all the hitting instructors (I would assume). In other words, I don’t know what the f**k I’m talking about…just glad successful hitters like Mota and Hansen are there for the players.

Excellent idea Ibirken.
Kahli, I had forgotten about Mota’s explanation.

Josh, how about asking one of the hitting coaches/instructors to give us a brief explanation of how their duties are defined.

There is a rumor over in twitterville, that Ken Rosenthal, is reporting that the Dodgers offered Aubrey Huff a 2/$22 contract, but the gnats matched it and he accepted the gnats contract. Thank goodness if that is true.

Nelly: I suspected as much about Huff, when I heard the Dodgers were interested in him. This is typical Ned, lets get something from our rivals up North and that “Veteran presence”. No Thanks. Ill keep Loney rather than Huff at 34-36yrs old. The giants are going to try to keep that Team chemistry together, but it was an abberation. Panda will lose weight and his power will go too. Posey will have a sophmore slump. But I can’t be concerned with the Gnats, rox, padres. It is only the dodgers I want to see improved. This coaching revamp is a good start to spark new optimism on the team. Mattingly is getting the chance that NY wouldn’t give him, I hope he appreciates the opportunity, and if he returns to the mound after a pitching change, then we got wallach or Lopes their to take over the team, for the rest of the season as far as I am concerned.

Well said, Koufax!

Tru: Thanks! I could say more, like the talk that the dodgers want to get Uribe from SF, which I might even support, considering production at 3rd and 2nd and the DL potential at SS. If Ned still want to dabble with SF, think Pitching, they have some pretty good arms by the bay.

The Mariners signed Charlie Haeger….YAY!!!!!
