Apparently, LA needs some air conditioning…
From all we hear, it’s about 115 degrees back home in Los Angeles, which seems unfathomable for the last few days in September. Here in Denver, it’s a nice 75 degrees but I’d bet if we check back with them in a few months, they’ll be wishing they had the sun and not the snow.
Not a whole lot to report from Denver…and clearly not a ton to report from Arizona, either. It dawned on me that part of why I’ve posted less regularly this season is the growing volume of great Dodger blogs that are out there right now for everyone to read.
When we started this blog five seasons ago, I’m pretty sure there were only a few blogs that were widely read that covered the Dodgers on a daily basis. Now, it becomes harder and harder to come up with unique content on top of all the great work that already gets done at dodgers.com through Ken Gurnick and his colleagues, as well as through all your sites.
So, for 2011 (and what’s left of 2010) we’ll try to come up with a fresh twist on the ITD blog. Not exactly sure what that will be, but we’re certainly up for suggestions. Posting lineups doesn’t make much sense anymore, nor does the “news.” By the time we get to sit and post something, it’s already spread around the Internet so fast that all we’re doing is recapping what you already know.
In the meantime, keep checking back regularly…we’ll keep trying to come up with fun things to post while we figure out the best way to communicate with an ever-growing fan base online.

Josh, which was more stressful…taking ITD on a stadium tour, or kicking off the Torre/Mattingly press conference a few weeks back? As for next season’s blog, perhaps Ned could run his trade ideas by ITD and we’ll either OK them or veto them. Same with Mattingley’s lineups. Which brings me to the question, that as Torre’s protege, will Mattingly play musical chairs with the batting order, too? Gosh, I hope not. Lasorda’s lineups seldom varied, except for injury.
Jimenez record at home is 9-2 (both losses came from us.)v He was 15-1 in the 1st half and now 4-7 in the 2nd half.

Well, can?t say that I watched the Dodger game tonight. Glad to see they won, but we were watching MNF. The Packers just blew that game big time. They should?ve dominated and would have if it wasn?t for all those dang penalties. And not that any penalty is a smart play, but many for the Packers tonight was downright stupid. At least the score was such that that my hubby won $ in his office pool!
And yes, the weather is horrible here! Even here in Ventura, we were in triple digits all day today. And even now (it?s 9:15 PM) it?s still over 80° and inside the house is over 90. I don?t know how I?m going to sleep tonight.
Well Josh, like many here, I really do appreciate all that you do for us ITDers! If I didn?t tell you before, I still think it was great for you to take us to places on the tour that we weren?t at last year! Getting to talk to Mota was great! And as far as this blog for next year, how about what I suggested a while ago: set it up to where we can ask questions of the players, you relay our questions, and then post their answers shortly thereafter. I know there are questions that I?d love to ask!

Don?t know if you?re still around; boy, you were up early this morning! This idea has been something that I?d love to do. I mean, how else can we fans feel closer to our beloved Boys in Blue than by asking questions and getting their responses? I look at it like having a ?virtual? conversation with them! I?d never want to ?put them on the spot? with timely but rather inappropriate questions, but still, there have got to be many non-threatening questions to ask!
Haven’t posted in a long time, but have read the comments on almost all posts. My mom taught me if I don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Well…

Josh, on your topic of new format, has there ever been a thought to hiring one of the great bloggers out there and letting them run the official blog? It would only work, though, if they weren’t censored by the team, but it would be great to get a fan’s perspective from the inside of the club. Probably won’t happen, but it would be very interesting.
I like CP’s idea, How about starting it off with a look into what the players are doing in the off season. How they relax, after a stressful season, what they’re doing to improve during the winter. Maybe bring Tommy in once in a while with some of his rally around the troops banter, face to face with the ITD crowd……( that would be some fun blogging. )
I’m also curious to find out about former players I liked a lot….mainly Shawn Green. What is he doing now? Is he still involved with baseball in any format?

I don’t think anybody intends for the players to answer questions when they are home relaxing with their families during the off-season. I don’t think that is what CP, tru or D4 was intending when they said that. Josh wants to change things around, and I think getting to know the players better is a great one.
My apologies if I misinterpreted that. Since Josh also said the rest of 2010 I took it that part was the offseason.

I think is going to be an interesting off-season and there will be plenty to talk about. I was at a wedding of two friends that are season ticket holders and part of our table talk revolved around what the Dodgers will do in the offseason. BTW, my friends met at Dodger Stadium. I told my friend that she should send her story to the Dodgers. They showed on Dodger Vision that they were looking for stories.

Josh, thanks again for keeping this forum going all this time. I can appreciate the challenge to come up with something of interest. I might add that I don’t read the other blogs unless someone posting on ITD makes a reference to a specific entry. I also don’t rely on Facebook for Dodger news or opinion. Perhaps there are others out there like me who like whatever news and information you can provide.
I like the idea of getting the players involved. We all realize they have time constraints and we do not want to invade their privacy. However, I would like to know what players do with their time on the road, how they prepare for road trips and games, and jsut about anything else they can do to help us understand the game better from their perspective.
In addition, has anyone looked at the Dodger yearbook or media guide and marveled at how many people work for the Dodgers? I would be interested to hear from some of these folks about their jobs and what it takes to operate the team on a day by day basis. I am sure all of this is mundane and I am not looking for gossip, just information about our favorite baseball team. You have had some of these folks on this blog from time to time and I find it fascinating.
Josh, it’s amazing to think how long this blog has been around for. There’s been a lot of changes to how people use the internet since then, with one social networking site, MySpace, rising and falling during the duration of this blog.
One way to stay relevant is to capitalize on the one major thing Inside The Dodgers has that no other blog does: Unlimited access to the Dodgers.
It’s tough to be a unique player in the sports blogosphere if posts are limited to lineups and game news, everything’s so interconnected, people post that stuff on twitter the instant it pops.
The answer to the dilemma is in your post: Uniqueness.
Everything in the Dodgers Media Network has shotgunned from the home office at an alarmingly rapid pace. With four fansites, and tons of hours of Dodgers internet programming, one could get lost in Dodgers programming for hours… but I don’t know about most of them, and am only compelled to watch when another video that catches my attention links to other videos I never knew existed (Matt Kemp’s webcast when he’s eating Cheese Doodles is awesome).
Maybe the way for this blog to stay unique is to have it be the internet flagship for all the net content. I also miss the historic posts Mark Langill used to post. One surefire way to connect to a Dodgers audience is by talking about the history of the ballclub, remembering why we’re fans in the first place.
Just a few ideas before I head to work. Have fun not melting in the revenge-minded California Sun… which hadn’t been shining as heatedly as it had in summers past.

I love to know more about how the photo calendar gets put together. I know the day of the ITD tour was the day that the team picture was taken. I stayed in the Top Deck that day and they asked us to move away during those shots. Last year’s calendar was players with kids needed to be adopted from the Heartsgallery.com.

Some more random thoughts about this blog. It has been a wonderful forum for fans to exchange opinions, ideas, trivia of all sorts, complaints, good times as well as bad times, not to mention the really funny stuff such as the songs and discussions about things having little or nothing to do with baseball. With the team’s struggles both on and off the field some people who used to contribute on a regular basis have gone away and hopefully they will come back and be joined by new contributors to keep this site fresh and interesting. Josh gets the ball rolling but it is the fans who make this worth the time.
Here’s a blog idea: fix the time nightmare. I know it’s not a Dodgers problem, as Phillies fans complain about the same thing on their blog. It’s an MLB problem and it’s been going on for a year. MLB is already in a losing war with the NFL and NBA for increased fan base. This could be a nice little gesture from the cyber boys/gals at MLB. It’s frustrating to respond to an entry and find yourself ten entries back.
As for the ITD blog itself, how about we wire Ned, Frank or Donnie Baseball with a lie detector from time to time and then ask them questions about our beloved Blue. Or we could do what the Dallas website does with Coach Wade: “What Wade Said…What He Could Have Said.” ITD could supply the latter “Could Have Said” statements with regards to our illustrious front office..

Josh – Eventhough I read lots of Dodger info from other places, this is the only place I actually state my opinions on this type of forum. Sure, we go back and forth on facebook on occasion, but it doesn’t have the same community feel that ITD has. lbirken is right! ITD just has so much character and all kinds of fun things happening that it would be very much missed if it changed too much.
Kahli is right too. I think if the blog were to be fixed it would solve alot of problems of people not wanting to post on here. It gets really hard to get into a rhythm like we used to when your comments are bounced all over the place or not submitted because you’ve been placed in Submission Error Hell (or SEH like Eric likes to call it).
lbirken – amazing all the things that have happened because of ITD. It really has a character all it’s own. I think the main thing that needs to happen is the Dodgers need a new owner without the last name McCourt. I think that will go a long way in getting ITD back up to speed. At least there will be some visions or dreams to look forward to again.
Well, the Rays clinched their second playoff birth in three seasons, but because of the league they are in, you don’t hear much about it. By watching the Yankee Network (ESPN), you would never know any other teams are clinching or what have you . Now, here is a small market team in terms of money spent, money made and their fan base, and yet, they have certainly figured things out in terms of playing the game on the field. Is it the owner, the GM, the manager, the players or a great combination of all four? We got rid of one of the four components (well, perhaps half, considering Mattingly did work under Torre), now it’s time to get rid of at least 2 of the other 3. I am not sure about the 4th, the players, because I am not sure what will be left once the season is finally over.

I for one echo many of the statements above. Khali mentioned the blog issues. So the 1st thing I’d like to see done is to have the time warp/Submission issues fixed. I’ve pretty much stopped posting here for the most part other than a few times a week because I can’t really communicate like before. Living in norcal it was fun to chat with other fans especially during game time.

The group on ITD I think is actually a pretty unique group of people that each bring something really great to the discussion. I don’t really look anywhere else for this type of communication. I do read other news but really enjoy my friends here on ITD whether I agree with all of them or not. So I would hope that it can be fixed as I miss being able to converse with all the others here.

It terms of what I’d like to see happen with the blog I think that CP, D4, Birk, and True really had a great ideas. One of the things that helps the fans really enjoy a team is when they get to know them on another level. I know years ago I went to many Sacramento Rivercats games and met some of the players when there. Just chatting before the game. Nothing like becoming friends or anything. But it made me take more interest in them especially when they went to the A’s. I found myself pulling for the A’s and those players.

When you look into the history of baseball one of the things that was great was the relationship the teams had with the city/fans/community. I think what CP brought up would build the community with the team/fans.

I enjoyed Dining With Dre and even went to the pizza joint (Which is great by the way!) he reviewed when we were in LA. It was fun to eat there knowing it was where Dre liked to go as well. Seeing the inside of how the life of a ballplayer helps us understand what they deal with.

Life on the road, what they like to do for vacation, what they like to wear fashion wise, their workout routines to stay or get in shape/rehab, etc… would be fun to hear/read about. Just some inside stuff. Nothing super personal but information that is a little more than we get watching the game. That’s one of the things we all lob=ve about Vinny is that he has some back round and a story for every player.

Anyway that is my thoughts and why I feel that way. I know it’s long but I still hope you have the time to read it and it makes sense.

LHP Hong-Chih Kuo needs three scoreless innings for the lowest ERA in the 127-year history of the Dodgers (minimum 50 innings). Right now, Kuo has allowed eight earned runs in 57 innings for a 1.26 ERA. The three scoreless innings would give Kuo a 1.200 ERA, just below Eric Gagne’s 1.202 in 2003.
I don’t think Kuo would get 2 more innings to get that record. To bad some of those ER’s came from Broxton trying to get a 4 outs saves.
Josh, another idea that might help forge a direction with the blog would be more interaction with readers/commentors.
For example, live chats would be great. I know the team has done these in the past for the main site, but maybe some “exclusive” chats for ITD readers/commentors would be nice.
Doesn’t have to be the “superstars” of the team either, or even players. It’d be interesting to have 15-25 minutes of time from a non-player as well, having a chance to ask Mark Langill about Dodger History, Scott Akasaki about travel, Jon Soo-Hoo about photography, former players such as Don Newcombe, Sweet Lou Johnson and Manny Mota about what it’s like to represent the Dodgers for so long, and though it might seem conceited as you’re the person who’d green-light such chats anyways, I’m sure many of the readers would be interested to ask you a few questions about what it’s like being a VP for a team you’ve loved for most of your life.
I realize there’s no real way to determine exclusivity, but maybe it could be “exclusive” in the way that radio stations give away tickets to “secret” shows, but once someone wins, it’s all over e-mail/twitter/facebook and the whole fanbase knows anyway.
Also, I miss the once-in-a-while contests the blog would host (my favorite being the “DaVinci Code”-esque encrypted message). Prizes could be tickets, ticket vouchers, merchandise.
It doesn’t even have to be “expensive” either. My girlfriend’s mom was jazzed when, after writing a letter to her favorite team (the Yanks), they sent her back a decal sticker which has since remained on her car. It’s the thought that counts.
Like I said in the earlier post, It’d be interesting to see Inside the Dodgers as the internet flagship for the ballclub. Where dodgers.com is more like a living newspaper, Inside the Dodgers can become a living bulletin board for all things Dodgers that aren’t statistics, standings, lineups and box scores. Like a living Welcome sign.
Just some more ideas since you were asking for them. With the media focused on questions of ownership, and much of the public’s perception focused on our owner in a negative light, the way to prevent any further reddening of L.A.’s baseball fanbase demographic (you know what I mean by that) would be to form connections with the fanbase in which they feel they are truly a part of the Dodger magic, regardless of the reality of the situation that only 56,000 of us can be a physical part of the club on any given night.
I’m sure you have this memory, as many Dodger fans do as well. Whether it was stepping through the blue gates of Dodger Stadium, a palace so beautiful one would think they could eat off of the floor on the first game of a homestand, or going through the arches of the Coliseum to join 50,000-90,000 others, or walking up to the rotunda of Ebbets Field, being so close to the experience one might forget half of the team was probably their neighbors, there was that moment that stirred in each of our hearts where we knew that the Dodgers were meant to be our team. Feeling that, directly or indirectly, we are all part of something bigger than any one of us, an institution that existed long before any of us were born, and God willing, will exist far after any of us have made our last marks upon the world.
Dodger Tradition and Dodger fandom are not to be taken for granted. Seeing as games have become much more expensive than Peter O’Malley’s nightmares due to the realities of owning a professional sports franchise in the 21st century, the way to keep the young blue blood flowing through this franchise would be to connect with them here first and direct them towards the Stadium secondly, as opposed to the way most of us became connected to the team, which was connecting with the stadium first and being directed towards other team-related media secondly.
The Dodgers were baseball’s first pioneers into the realm of the Internet. I remember sneaking onto the computers in the science lab back in 1997 just to load that beautiful site, though it took 2 minutes even on the school’s computers. It can be a pioneer again.

Josh – I know it’s been a tough season for all of us, but when you bleed Dodger Blue, I don’t think the fandom ever goes away. No matter how bad they played the night before or what was said about the management or the owners in the media the next day, other than my e-mail, ITD is the first thing I open up to read in the mornings, and it’s the first thing I open up when I am checking in at night.
Okay – I am not sure if I could do this, but Sean Astin (LOTR, Rudy) is a huge Dodgers fan, and he was interviewed a little while ago at AT&T Park as he is there watching the Giants/DBacks game. Well, he said (and I am paraphrasing), since my team is out, I sticking with my division. Now, so far, in my head I don’t want the Giants anywhere near the playoffs, but that is looking more and more like it just might happen. However, if they are the only West Division team respresented, I am not sure I can do it. I was more than willing to see the Padres go, but I know some Dodger fans in the San Diego area feel like I do about the Giants. I really do see his point since we always get slighted when it comes to the Yankee Channel (I mean ESPN), and they always say our division is weak. My gut right now is saying no well in hell will I cheer the Giants on, but when it comes down do it, is the respect of our division something we should be looking out for. I am not sure if any Giant fan would do it for us. I know last year, it was all about seeing us lose. See, I just heard the “outta here” scream from the idiots, and I truly don’t think I can, at this point, say I am for the Giants winning at all!!!!
Looks like all Kemp needed to turn his fortunes around was Joe announcing his departure. Imagine how well Matt would do with a similar announcement from Colletti. Probably win the Triple Crown. Glad Kershaw is done. What’s the point in pitching him again? I’d shut down Billingsley and Kuo, as well.

I know most of you are not just Dodger fans but fans of the game of baseball. Ken Burns did another fantastic job with his documentary “The Tenth Inning”.
I too enjoyed the Ken Burn baseball films. In the first half, I could not help get teary alogn with the Giant writer who was talking about Roberto Clemente. In the second part it was the Red Sox writer/fan that got me all misty with his personal stories with his sons and also about his mother how one of his sons took a scorebook to her grave after the REd Sox won the first time.

Josh you are doing a great job. You do have a tough job in coming up with great topics for the blog. We (the ITD bloggers) can be extremely harsh and negative. Not your fault, but the whole divorce, the fact that this team did not play their best and the Dodger ownership situation (specially the Ownership) has driven us crazy. You have had great topics posted but somehow we read it and just concentrate in wanting to sale the team or fire people. But you know what? ITD is a great place to release frustration. I feel that I have a better chance to be heard here than in any other blog. Josh, keep up the great job, we really appreciate what you do! There have been a few ITD bloggers that have been positive and I give them props. There have been some bloggers that give great ideas for the blog, ideas on how to improve people?s visits at Dodger Stadium. My favorite idea given by a blogger was, the ITD Tour. (PeruMike ? great job and Josh thanks for putting it together) I did not make it this year (long story). I do think it should remain an annual event. The tour is a great way to get all of us together. ITD is a family now and Josh you are a big part of it. It is great to have a night when we can all seat together and talk about the game LIVE, no typing or having to deal with the whole time warp thing. So Josh, don?t wait for us to ask again, just set the date for the next ITD tour, sometime in Summer of 2011 and give us time to plan it. Some bloggers need to book flights & room.

For those of you that watch the Tenth Inning, Were you surprised that Wilson Alvarez name was mentioned? I don’t remember his name being mentioned before on the PED.
Also who was Boswell talking about in the first part when he said he asked a player “what is that?” And the player answered “a Canseco milkshake” He said the player is currently in the HOF.

I just had to repost this from thinkblue……….
There have been a few ITD bloggers that have been positive and I give them props. There have been some bloggers that give great ideas for the blog, ideas on how to improve people?s visits at Dodger Stadium. My favorite idea given by a blogger was, the ITD Tour. (PeruMike ? great job and Josh thanks for putting it together) I did not make it this year (long story). I do think it should remain an annual event. The tour is a great way to get all of us together. ITD is a family now and Josh you are a big part of it. It is great to have a night when we can all seat together and talk about the game LIVE, no typing or having to deal with the whole time warp thing. So Josh, don?t wait for us to ask again, just set the date for the next ITD tour, sometime in Summer of 2011 and give us time to plan it. Some bloggers need to book flights & room.

Very well said thinkingblue. Not just the part I reposted, but the entire post. I just highlighted the part about the tour because I wanted to second what you said. We are a family, and just like some family members, not everyone will be able to make it to the reunion. However, that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t still happen on an annual basis.
What might be a good idea is to set the date shortly after spring training starts or as soon as the regular season begins so those that have to travel a further distance have plenty of time to get travel plans set. It still may not work for everyone (because I don’t think it would have helped me too much this time around), but at least it gives everyone enough lead time to try and plan it the best they can. Once again, thanks for bringing that up again Thinkblue. It was one great idea Perumike had, and it is still one of my favorite Dodger experiences to date.

Josh: Whatever you decide to do with this blog will be just fine with me. I just love having a place where I can go and talk a little Dodger baseball and news about our Beloved Boys in Blue! And like thinkingblue mentioned before, Josh, I would LOVE it if you jumped in to chat with us. I actually remember when you did that during ST this year; remember? You were talking about your trip to Taiwan and you and I had a brief discussion about them ?praying?? Oh, btw, I know the last game of the season would probably be just as busy for you as the first game of the season (where you came to see us and I wasn?t there?) But if you wanted to, I?d still like to introduce you to my mom. Stop by Infield Reserve Aisle 1, Row M. My mom and I will be there on Sunday!
Well, it sure was nice to see the Dodgers sweep the Rockies right out of the playoffs! Now, I REALLY wished they played like that a couple of weeks ago against the gnats, but give credit where credit is due; they are playing well right now. But I don?t think I can EVER root for the Giants to succeed in anything. And if the WS ends up being the yanks vs. the gnats, that?s gotta be the worst of all worlds. But knowing me, I?ll still watch the Series. I remember 2001 when the yanks were playing the snakes. Not too exciting, huh. But I said it then, and I?ll say it again. That WS was the BEST WS I have seen in a LONG time. A lot of DRAMATIC ups and downs on both sides!
Oh, and speaking of thinkingblue. I?m assuming that thinkingblue is a new name for an old name that I should know. And thinkingblue, if you are ?new? to ITD, welcome! If not, well then let me know who you are!!!
Oh, and yeah. It would be REALLY nice to get our SEH problems fixed on this blog!!!
I too would have a hard time rooting for the Giants in the playoffs. I must admit I will not be too upset if they make the playoffs. With the Dodgers ending up in 4th place, it is not as if the Giants had to get by the Dodgers to take first place. As I said in an earlier post, San Diego let it slip away. If the Giants to make it all the way to the W.S. and play the Yankees, well, then I do have a problem since I would want them both to lose.
Josh, I have a great idea for you: why not visit every fan from ITD when they attend a game. We could just let you know our seat numbers and you could drop by, say hello and make us feel important. Sure would impress the people we bring to games. I am sure you have nothing better to do once the game starts, ha ha.
Hey Rose. If that was the postseason situation, I’d have to root for Philly. Mainly because, if they beat the Giants, then it even cements it more that the Phillies were just that damn good.
No love for the Giants, not now, not ever. As a baseball fan, I can appreciate people who have been Giants at one time or another (and I was shocked, ashamed and embarrassed after hearing about the Dodgers fan who climbed the Willie Mays statue and relieved himself on its head after the Dodgers clinched at the Phone Booth in San Fran a few years back). But as an organization, they deserve everything they (don’t) get, because…
It’s their fault the Yankees became powerhouses. Back in 1922, after having the New York Americans (Yankees) as tenants at the Polo Grounds for a year too long, the Giants kicked them out, and the Yanks built their own stadium across the river the next year, and won their first championship.
The Giants, the previous cocks of the NYC walk with 3 Championships, including 2 consecutive in 1921-1922, have only won 2 championships since then (AND NONE IN CALI! NANNY NANNY NEENER NEENER!!), matched to the Yankees… ummm… you know the number.
If ever one needed another reason to hate the Giants, there you go.

And yeah, I?ve gotta look back, but it was in March of this year. He and the Dodgers had taken their trip to Taiwan. I recognized that it was him because of his screen name: lachat! Okay Josh, I will try to explain without getting all “religious” on you. I can’t seem to remember what the word is to describe what looks like praying. But I can tell you this. In Christianity, we believe in Christ, our Savior. Well, in Buddhism, Buddhists don’t believe in such a deity like Christians believe in Christ. So when they perform the ritual that “looks” like they’re praying (and I don’t want to diminish it’s affect on Buddhists) I just think they are presenting a gift to the Buddha. I don’t know. It’s been SOOOO long since I considered myself Buddhist that I’ve forgotten a lot. Perhaps there is someone else here on ITD that is Buddhist that can give a better explanation that I just tried to do.
Sorry for such a round-about answer to a very straight-forward question on your part Josh! Again, have a safe trip home! 🙂

CP! I remember those posts between you and LAChat. See you Sunday CP! a group of us are going to stop at Barragans for breakfast before the game so not sure if I will be there early enough for BP but I’ll look for you. i usually stop by and chat with the guys working the elevator crowd in R.S. One of them got promoted but another very nice young man replaced him.
Looking forward to the last weekend of baseball because I have to wait a long time before the season starts again.

And I was reading everyones post and Ibirken has great ideas too. I was reading your blog on the 1981 World Series, you have a great Dodgers collection. Do you keep scores on ALL the game?

NSB – I agree, I know I have relatives that cheer for the Giants, but I just can’t cheer for them. All of you up north have it tough, surrounded by brown & orange, scary – but it is Halloween time!

Now if the Giants and the Yankees go to the World Series, who do we root for? I know it is a Dodger’s nightmare and the with the season the Dodgers had, it is a BIG possibility.

I try to keep score at all the home games. I was looking at that 1981 World Series program and noted that yes, I kept score and Fernando pitched that game (game 3) so I asked Fernando and Jaime to sign the scoresheet at the last Viva Los Dodgers event. Dodgers won game three 5-4.

The team photo of the 1981 NL All-Star team is so colorful with unis of the Expos, Pirates and the Phillies and Cardinals with that light blue that I wanted to share it.
Fernando started that All-Star but Vida Blue won the game and Bruce Sutter saved it. Six Dodgers made the All-Star that year but only Vida Blue of the Giants.

It was fun for me looking back at that World Series program.
