Filming at Dodger Stadium
Ever wonder what happens at the stadium when the team is on the road?
Well, in addition to planning for the upcoming homestand and dealing with any number of business issues that come up on a daily basis (the same as any company, really), Dodger Stadium has been a favorite spot for filming movies over the years.
Last week and this week, Moneyball was being taped here and it’s just the latest in a long line of movies filmed at the stadium. The woman who handles the coordination of all these tapings sent a list of all the movies and shoots that have taken place at the stadium, which I found interesting and thought you might all enjoy it, too. The list is below.
By the way, one of our longtime Dodger scouts and a truly tremendous person, Artie Harris, actually plays a scout in the upcoming Moneyball film. He has a few scenes with Brad Pitt and said he was really great to work with. And as you might know, Jonah Hill plays the Paul DePodesta character, though not of the same name. Yahoo’s Tim Brown had an interesting article about that, in case you missed it.
And northstateblues – thanks for your honest feedback. All I can tell you is that I truly don’t consider us a PR machine. The best we can do is try to explain the decisions we make and hope that fans understand them, while knowing that not all fans will agree with every decision. But the next time you’re at the park, please do let me know, as I’d love to fly by the seats to say hello.
Anyway, here’s the list of those movies and TV shows dating back to mid 80s…and it doesn’t even include the dozens of shows that have used the stadium as base camp but not actually filmed on site.

Good Morning ITDland. Josh, I’m so glad you DO read what we, here on ITD have to say. I really appreciate all you do for us, the fans.
I just saw the movie “Takers” last night. It also had a short filming at Dodgers stadium. I’m not gonna lie, it made me want a Dodger dog during the movie.
Good afternoon ITD!
Thanks for the new post Josh!

So that’s who was filming! I drove by yesterday and saws the yellow MB sign and wondered who was filming now. Living in LA, you see those yellow signs all the time. I think remember watching an episode of Roswell and you could see Dodger Stadium in the background of a scene. It wasn’t actually at Dodger Stadium but up on the hill in front of it. I guess that falls in the latter category ITD was talking about.

I heard that they’re going to make a movie about the 2010 season and Frank’s regime. Its called Funnyball.
There’s another in the works about just the pitching staff called Bunnyball.
There’s also a porno flick being discussed about Jamie’s time with the chauffeur – *unnyballed, but they’re having a hard time getting Merrill Strip to play the lead.
Hello Dodger fans! Wanna see pictures of your little brothers in Brooklyn? They’re playing in the NYPL Championship Series. I took loads of pictures of MCU Park in Coney Island; Home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. I posted a 360 degree view of the park on a video. We have retired Brooklyn Dodgers numbers displayed on the suite levels. Also posted, a picture of an old turnstile from Ebbets Field.
All the pics and the vid are on my Blogspot page. This isn’t shameless self promotion…but I am shameless. Just thought you’d like to see “your little Brothers”…or as we say…Our Baby Bums.

Flim Flam Man comes to mind.
Kahli – Boy, how I would love to tell my principal how I feel about her. That would make my day and about 99% of our staff’s as well :))
Josh – thanks for the new thread and thank you for continuing to read our comments.
As for the films, that is a most impressive list. Our first grade social studies book has a great photo of Dodger Stadium. The students think I had something to do with it. I told them the editors and/or photographers were probably Dodger fans :))
I seem to be stuck in the time warp of regular time.
Collie – have a great time at the game tonight. Bring them some much needed Dodger Blue love from ITD. Give the gnat fans hell!!!!!
Go Padres!!!!
Josh, you’re a good guy, and I wouldn’t want you to say anything to jeopardize your job, any more than I, as a teacher, would slam my principal. That said, you must feel like a noble Roman senator watching Nero fiddle away. I’d love to hear the conversations that take place at your kitchen table. Probably a lot like mine! As for movies, the title SLIMEBALL comes to mind.
Hello ITD.
It’s time to win.
This is the biggest series of the year IMO.
The Dodgers have to lend a hand to prevent the Giants from getting to the postseason.
A sweep would be just what the Doctor ordered.
A little help from the Padres wouldn’t hurt either.
Did I ever tell you people that I HATE the Giants.
GO DODGERS!!!!!!
Great!!!! the Pods just went ahead 4-0, in the top of the 4th.
It’s 6-3 in the 8th.
Go Padres!!!!
I can’t bring myself to root for the Pods or Gnats. Give me the Rocks…
Josh ..No movies made at Dodger Stadium Before 1984?
I can root for anybody but the Giants and Cardinals.
WAY TO GO CLAYTON KERSHAW!!!!!
The Giants just fell 1 game behind the Padres.
GO DODGERS!!!!!
Unless Kersh can pitch the entire game, and you know Joe woon’t let him, one run isn’t going to be enough.
I can root for the Padres but don’t want to see the Giants make it.
I hate to see us having 1 hit.
I think Torre would let him if he can get a quick 1 2 3 innings.
Come on Kershaw one more out.
Kershaw thrown 96 pitches in 8th innings.
Let’s get a 1 2 3 innings to finish them off Kershaw.
WooHoo, win streak!!! Way to go Kersh!!! Take that G’nat fans!!!!
First career win against the Giants for Kershaw. I guess since Cain and Sanchez broke that string and now that Kershaw was due for the win.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOWIE!!! WHAT A GAME!!! Kersh was awesome!!!!!!
This will make for some quiet gnat fans at work tomorrow (meaning the staff, not the kids). It is amazing how all these gnat fans all of a sudden showed up this year and not just at work……………..all over the place.
Hi Nelly 🙂 Do you think maybe they’re fair weather fans creeping out of the woodwork?
Thanks for the gift Uribe. lol you owe us big time.
I just read that Petco capacity is higher than the Giants park but that can’t be right. How come the Giants doesn’t have a 45,000+ stadium?
You should’ve seen home plate. They had like 3 to 4 people back there and it was full after the 2nd innings and beyond.
sparkleplenty – that is definitely the case around here. Even my gnat family is saying the same thing about where were all these gnat fans in the dark days (which have been many). The one thing I can say about my hubby and son they have always been gnat fans through the bad and the worse. They definitely bleed the Halloween colors.
Shad – AT&T Park is a beautiful ballpark (with the exception of the team that plays there). I think the reason it doesn’t hold more is logistics (not enough land to build it bigger). It is literally surrounded by buildings and water.
Collie saw this game so he should have some insight into the crowd and getting to see Kersh’s performance in person.
“Logan White, the Dodgers? head of scouting, was interviewed by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, according to multiple baseball sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity.”
Why not lose BOTH Logan White and Tim Wallach while we’re at it? I shudder to think…the pieces are right there, ready to be promoted…but somehow Dodger ownership will f**k it up.
Unless they are playing the Dodgers, I pretty much can root for any team other than the Giants at this point. I used to feel that way about the Phillies, but through this season, I have discovered it really is the gnats I just can’t stand. Now, that is not to say I don’t admire some of the gnat players. I think Buster Posey is going to be a thorn in our side for years to come, and their young pitcher, Madison Bumgarner, is going to be amazing someday. That being said, I hope between the Dodgers and the Padres/Rockies and Brewers (the gnats play them next), we just bury them so they can’t possibly make it to the playoffs in the end.
That is sad to hear Kahli!
Sources over on facebook are saying that Wallach was in the Dodger dugout tonight and is expected to be there through the remaining 17 games of the season. That can’t be a bad thing. Let’s hope it is a very good thing.
Good win last night….for fun, let’s do it again! GO, DODGERS, GO!!!!!
Josh: The only bad thing about them filming at Dodger Stadium is the cancellation of stadium tours! I was in LA last week at USC and took the bus down to DS and was severely disappointed to learn that the filming was cancelling the tours. Thankfully the Dodgers staff recognized that even with a film, people still wanted to see the stadium. Though there was no field/dugout/clubhouse access, thankyouverymuch Brad Pitt, the 3/4 tour was awesome. Now I just need to make it to a game there one day.
I just want to CONGRATULATE KERSHAW for his great performance and first shutout game in the Major Leagues. The best part was that it was against the GIANTS. Shutout the GIANTS’ FANS FIST PUMPING PARTY!
*
Thanks Kersh, fans needed a performance like that from a DODGER! Hopefully he can keep up his great work for next year. Next year should be an easier year for the Dodgers!
*
LET’S GO DODGERS!
Looks like Pathednik’s out for the last couple weeks of the season, and may not come back next year.
What a shame, offense like that is hard to find.
However, let it be known that our very own Ned was able to find a talent like that twice in 4 years.
And they’re letting White interview for AZ’s GM position? If White goes, I go. I can’t support this mess anymore.
I was reading up above regarding “Where the Gnats fans are” and to me it is not that they were hiding. Their team was not giving the fans reason to come a watch a game live. We can say the same about the Dodgers…it seems that a lot of the fans are hiding, the stadium seats aren’t filled like last year. But we are not hiding. Wins bring fans to the stadium. Well in our case: IF YOU BRING A NEW OWNER, WE WILL COME!
BPB it sad to see that FRANK presence in the team has ruined what could of been the YEAR FOR THE DODGERS. It is poor management when you let your personal life interfere with your business. But I understand you. It is hard to cheer for a team with an owner like FRANK! Everyday decisions made are affecting the team badly. Well I just hope that Dodgers ownership changes soon. I hope the new owner is someone who loves the game and respects the game, the team & fans and hopefully loves the Dodgers.
According to Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com, Andre Ethier has told some friends that he would love to come to Boston.
When asked if Ethier is actually going to be available, McAdam tweeted that given the state of the Dodgers’ franchise, “nothing is off the table.” We’re not so sure about this particular destination, but the Dodgers are about to head into some very uncertain territory this winter. There is nothing more to the article than that paragraph, but I have been thinking this all along, and now it’s in writing.
All our guys deserve to be with a better organization. More power to them to get away from this nightmare. By the time Frank gets done litigating, this franchise won’t be worth a pot to piss in. In fact, it isn’t already.
NELLY – it breaks my heart to hear (read) that. WOW I really don’t want to see Andre wearing a different jersey. But he deserves to be in a team where he will be treated with RESPECT and not like a puppet. He is loved and respected by the fans but that is not enough. I hope he sticks with the Dodgers and I hope the Dodgers can win with Andre Ethier as a player.
So sad to hear that, Nellyjune. But, I can’t blame him. I think I’d want out too.
Ethieraholics will realy be BLUE if he decides to leave.
It is just a rumor at this point, but it’s a rumor I have heard before.
Torre is a class act. It was awful seeing him suffer with the Dodgers, now owned by a phony loser from Boston who only intend is to bleed the organization of its cash. It’s gotten so bad with the Dodgers I expect McCourt to next say he can’t afford Vin Scully and sells the naming rights to Dodger Stadium to FoxNews!
Where did u acquire the recommendations to post ““Filming at Dodger Stadium
Inside the Dodgers”? Thanks for your time -Maryellen
