Vin in In for 2011!
What great news to start a Sunday morning…there has never been anyone like him and while I never say “never” when it comes to the future, it’s fairly safe to assume that there will never be another like him in our lifetime.
He’s not only the best at what he does for a living, but he’s every bit as humble and kind as you would hope he would be. Welcome back, Vin. We’re looking forward to a fruitful 2011 — hearing your voice and watching you “work.”
Boo Yah! I can only think of three words to describe Vin…..
Simply the BEST!!!
Go Dodgers
Brox blows again!!!!!!!!
Best news I’ve heard in quite some time. LOVE YA VINNY!!!!
Tb4 ~ That is very good news. Especially for me as I have only been able to listen to Vinny on a regular basis since the advent of the internet. And I really love when he tells stories from the Brooklyn days and Ebbets Field.
Édgar González RP/SP Signed to a minor league contract by LA Dodgers
lol what more depth in the minor?
I didn’t even know Betamit was playing for the Royals Avg .342 HR 7 RBI 24 Runs 20.
Wow the White/Sox series gone to 11th and 10th innings last night and now they had a 10th innings game.
oops that’s White Sox/Royals game and I don’t know how I made that mistake.
A wonderful day for the Dodgers, and a wonderful day for baseball! How lucky we are here on the West Coast to be able to hear Vin call a game throughout the baseball season. Let’s all thank Vin and start winning for him! Win For Vin! Visit http://www.winforvintshirts.com to purchase your Win For Vin t-shirt and at the same time proceeds will be given to ThinkCure! to find a cure for cancer!
Oldbrooklynfan – thanks for the photo link on the previous thread. Great pictures!!
What wonderful news I heard yesterday about Vin Scully staying. I was listening to Ken and Josh on the way home from So-Cal yesterday, and other than the usually complaints about the team, it was good to hear all the wonderful things about what was being said about Vin Scully.
That is great news…Vin will be BACK! I’m glad Frank didn’t cut him out of the payroll. Vin doesn’t want to depart in a bad season. So I’m sure (HOPE) 2011 will be a better Dodger Season! VIN YOU ARE THE BEST!
*
BEAR – Yes I think I heard Vin say that too…LOL.
*
Now the big question is ‘WHO WILL MANAGE THE DODGERS?” Torre???
Why am I’m not shock that everytime a pitcher goes on the phanton DL when the pitcher have a bad last games? It look like the belated bday boy Weaver was activated yesteday and Schlichting was placed on the DL.
As far as I can see, Manny hasn’t hit anything.
Yet more positive news:
.
YAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
The Bums won’t lose today!
Time warped eh?
Nice to see they care about the blogs so much they’ve fixed that problem also.
Terrific pick-up in Barajas. Surely he’ll save our season. Sadly, even he’s an improvement from Manny, Moe & Jack. (the Poop Boys.)
Is the entire front office so delusional that they’re still stupid enough to be buying? They could get some damn good prospects right now for Lilly, maybe a middling one or two for Manny, and some good ones for Kuroda. Its the opportunity of a lifetime to replenish the farm with guys you’ll only have 1 more month anyway.
But I forgot, that’s what a real baseball club would do.
And we don’t have anything like a real baseball club.
Dylan Hernandez……..
Baseball source confirms that Manny still hasn’t hit the waiver wire.
lol Damon claimed by the Red Sox really.
It looks like, of course, unless we go on a wild winning streak, which I highly doubt, Manny along with several others will be waived. So much for “buying”.
Testing, testing….just want to see what ITD Time Zone I’m in right now.
Thank you Vin!! I’m thrilled you are coming back and you have cast a huge ray of sunshine on this disappointing season!!!!

I’m with you Beav!!! If you can get something for them to stock our farm, it is time to go for it.
I wish we could unload Blake and Furcal!!!!
Now JoJo, just don’t blow out Kuo chasing a lost season. Brox blows right now and I would trade him for a couple of top drawer prospects!!!!
GO REDS!!!!!
Hey Jhall!!! Gnats happening to be playing the Reds, which I am currently watching. It is 5-2, Gnats 😦
Hi’Ya Nelly!!! How are you and yours tonight? Hope all is well!!! The Reds aren’t quitting and I think they can still make this game interesting. Unfortunately, when we get behind, I don’t feel that way.
Make that 7-2 now.
Yep, Jhall!! The Reds are definitely getting it done this season. As much as I wish the Dodgers were in contention for the playoffs, it is cool seeing teams like the Reds, the Rangers and I know, but even the Padres kind of make the experts not such experts. Nobody predicted any of these teams to do anything, and it was quite opposite with the teams such as Seattle and Boston who were predicted to do great things.
jhall ~ we are doing well, and yourself?
Put the whole damn team on waivers, then keep Kershaw, Bills, Loney, Ethier, and Kemp. Big Jonathon? Need to sleep on that one. Maybe for a change the Dodgers could squeeze some poor sap team for a couple good minor leaguers…maybe even a catcher!
Glad to hear Nelly!!! Doing well myself!!! Thanks!!!
Hi’Ya Kahli!!! Yep, I’d waive the whole damn’ bunch except for Billz, Kersh, Carroll, Kemp, Kuo, Loney, and Ethier!!!
It’s really a mute point as long as the McCourts are allowed to hold onto the team!!! The house cleaning needs to start in the penthouse!!! There’s a foul odor eminating from the owners box!!!!
Get a viable ownership, and alot of the other pieces will fall into place!!!!
Hey Wally & Mom!!
The hills have been relatively quiet lately.
Jeez – that only took 45 minutes to post.
And timewarped at that!
From what I’ve read, no catcher has ever come back from the type injury Martin has, so thanks to Ned trading away the only two viable replacements over the last couple of years for crap, next year’s catching corpse (no typo) will be Ellis and ???. Not that we want Martin back anyway – I sure don’t.
Gonna look good with a banjo hitting catcher, a decrepit 3Bman, a shortstop that’ll be lucky to play half the games, 3 starters short of a rotation, and assuming Pathednik stays (and why would he?), another crappy LFer that can’t hit nor field. And that’s not to mention the bullpen, a crappy 2Bman, and an underachieving CF and IB.
Hell, let’s bring Torre back. He deserves that group.
SEH!!!! This is just driving me nuts!!!
Kahli/Jhall – I like Jonathan too much to give up on him yet so I understand the feeling of having to sleep on that one. I think with the right coaching alot of our bullpen pitchers would be doing better than what they are. That is one aspect of the game that I am just not understanding……………..why our young pitchers are not doing so well? They are regressing instead of progressing, and it just isn’t right. I agree with keeping Billz, Kersh, Carroll, Kemp, Kuo, Loney and Ethier. They were talking yesterday on the radio about Lilly, and they were saying that he would love to stay in LA, but the Dodgers won’t be able to afford to keep him. So, it will be a Wolf, Garland issue all over again, but I am not saying anything we don’t already know, am I? LOL!!!
I am ecstatic about Vin coming back for 2011. Read why @http://www.neontommy.com/news/2010/08/dodgers-are-fortunate-have-vin-scully-back
Hi’Ya Beav!!! I agree with you on Martin!!! Hell’, he was toast last year!!! The outlook is indeed bleak for next year!!! Go Pirates West!!!!!
Hey brownpaperbag!! Always fun reading what you are thinking. How are the hills these days?
8-2 gnats 😦
“The assumption is that Don Mattingly is heir apparent to replace Joe Torre, but AAA manager Tim Wallach is looming as favorite,” so says Bob Nightengale. Lordy, I hope so!
I have heard about Wallach too. I am hoping it’s true because that would be a much better choice IMO.
The gnats got Cody Ross today off the waiver wire. Not sure why they need a 7th outfielder (according to my hubby who was thinking of all the outfielders they have), but hey, who am I to judge. I am guessing somebody is losing their job tomorrow and being sent back down to AAA orrrrrr they have a phantom DL too.
Nevermind – they sent Matt Downs down to AAA.
enchanted, I see the Dodgers being pretty good next season. 2010 was just a bad year. Too many big things went wrong, like Manny’s disappearance and Tiger’s divorce…I mean Frank’s divorce………………….
Did anyone seen that Rangers/Twins game? Harden was pulled with a no hitter in 6 2/3 innings and thrown 111 pitches and the Twins only manage 1 hit and that was Mauer and guess who was behind the plate in that game? Yeah you probably guess it Jim Joyce.
http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-0824-mccourt-divorce-20100824,0,5554449.story
The top lawyer from the commisioner’s office is prepared to testify that Frank has sole ownership of the Dodgers according to mlb baseball rules.
Appears the good old boys are gangin’ up on Jamie…
I’m thinking Stewart said those comment to make Kemp look bad.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Dodger-Kemp-s-agent-hates-L-A-?urn=mlb-264447#post
Not that I’m after Josh’s job or anything (wait, what’s the salary?), but I just submitted a request to Guinness.
It’s occurred to me (and I think I’ve mentioned it here at least once) that there cannot be too many people on the planet that have:
Worked more than 60 years at any job.
If there are a few who have worked for more than 60 years, there have to be even less who have:
Worked more than 60 years FOR THE SAME EMPLOYER.
If there are a few who have worked for more than 60 years for the same employer, there have to be even less who have:
Worked more than 60 years for the same employer DOING THE SAME JOB.
And if there are just a very few who have worked for more than 60 years for the same employer doing the same job, there have to be even fewer who have:
4 – Worked more than 60 years for the same employer doing the same job WHEN YOU DON’T OWN THE COMPANY OR ARE RELATED TO ANYONE WHO DOES.
It’s supposed to take 4-6 weeks to get results. Regardless of how it comes out, it’ll be interesting to see what the record is if Vinny doesn’t own it himself. Hopefully Guinness will take me more seriously than Selig. Haven’t heard anything back from them.
Yet.
THAT was a great idea Dodgereric!!!! I can’t wait to find out what that result is.
Anyone see the tripe JoJo was spewing a couple days ago about September call-ups being unfair? (Of course they took THAT article down already.) Its unfair that crappy teams can call up as many minor leaguers as they want. Its unfair that AA and AAA players could knock you out of a pennant race. Yada yada yada. This from a manager and GM tandem that manipulate the DL everytime a pitcher has a bad game.
.
In fact, everything’s unfair to JoJo this year – September call-ups, the schedule, the kids don’t “get it.” It seems to me that this is a guy who doesn’t want to shoulder any of the responsibility for this season’s disaster, though he’s the author of much of it. “Its not my fault” should be printed across the back of his jersey. Could go right along with Ned’s “It’s not my fault” nameplate on his desk.
.
Tell you what I’d really like to see is a headline for Frank here in a few weeks reading, “Its not my team [anymore.]”
Unfortunately Bear, “common sense” and “upper management” are mutually exclusive terms on this club.
If we’re lucky……

Well, this team used to play well all year long
It don?t no more, I don?t belong
The fans all seem to hate me, that’s no lie
Table’s turnin’ now it?s my turn to cry
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Well, she started runnin? around, in limos with surround
We spent all that money, playing our high class games
She put me out, it was a pity how I cried
Table’s turnin’ now my turn to cry
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
I used to wake up in the morning, get my hair cut at home
Then I got worried she was workin? another dome
But now she’s takin? me for $200K a week
Sure is lookin? like my ownership is bleak
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
Because I used to own it, but it’s all over now
We can dream can’t we BTPM1 🙂
Think we have to keep in mind two things with DeWitt – his numbers will be inflated playing half his games in Wrigley, and for the most part other than Wainwright and Carpenter, he’s facing Central Division pitching. That said, I’d still take DeWitt over Thidiot any day of the week.
.
The only way we come out ahead in that whole deal is if Ned flips Lilly for some good prospects.
.
Hell COULD freeze over – couldn’t it?
2010 LAD 82 256 29 69 15 4 1 30 30 49 2 2 .270 .352 .371 .723
2010 CHC 22 71 11 24 3 0 3 12 8 16 1 0 .338 .400 .507 .907
Another HR’s by Dewitt this time in the lead off spot last night.
He was call up as a 22 years old back in 2008 probably why he was hot than struggling the rest of the way but there was no reason to trade for Blake that year. Dewitt should’ve had the job last year before we sign the O-Dog.
I think it’s “e”, jason. I think he’ll roll around naked in it.
Some nice shots of Vin over the years:

Question:
What will Frank McCourt be doing with the money saved (4 mill) when Manny is hitting bombs for a AL team come playoff time?
a. yacht repair
b. jaimie
c. credit card bill
d.zack lee
e. none of the above
The solution is clear, for 2011, we’re done this year so let’s look forward. The McCourts are both declared insane or irrelevant by the court and therefore have to sell the team, Manny gets traded or claimed off waivers Monday by the White Sox, the same day Joe Torre announces he’ll be back for 1 more season. OK, so this may be wishful thinking, but the McCourts really are insane or irrelevant.
lineup: Theriot 4 Ethier 9 Ramirez 7 Loney 3 Kemp 8 Belliard 5 Carroll 6 Barajas 2 Lilly 1
Jason – Put me down for “e”, also. But I think he will squander it on something stupid – let’s say a consultant to do a $4 million study on putting up a football stadium next to Dodger stadium. $4 Mill down the drain with nothing to show for it.
Jason put me down for “E” too. I think he will hire another Witch Doctor to see if the BOSTON-GURU is doing him wrong. Or give himself a raise!
I’ll take “A’….then Frank can go on his yacht for a permanent fishing trip!
I guess Damon had a no trade clause and didn’t want to go back to Boston.
It is being rumored that Manny has been picked up on the waiver wire from none other than the White Sox. Manny, JP and Andruw all together again 🙂
Hi ITD
First I’d like you to know how happy I am that Old Vinnie Boy will be staying at least another year, I wasn’t ready to let him go.
Well another game tonight and another chance to tack on another win.
Hope “the Giglio” (Lilly) can keep his streak going, Wasn’t he fantastic in his last start? I wish we could keep him.
The Dodger need 18 more wins to finish at least .500, I hope they accomplish that.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii148/Joepierrephotos/062709JO080.jpg?t=1282694192
I’ve been happy we’ve had Manny, but I think he’s finished in the N.L. now.
That why Bills should never had gotten booed because of that calf injuires.
Weeks Batting 1st 119 493 83 135 26 4 23 73 53 139 7 4 .274 .365 .483 .848
Weeks in the 1st spot have 23 HR’s 73 RBIs and have more rbi than Fielders and he has 1 more rbi than Loney.
Kemp just hit the scoreboard for that homerun.
Wow!!! At least for tonight, Barahas is a hell’ of a pick up!!! Way to go!!!! Anything from the catcher position is a welcome surprise!!!
It’s good to see Matt hitting them out.
Barajas looking like a good aquisition so far. LOL!!!
Nice start for Barajas… when he hit his homer, I was looking at my computer and thought that Lilly had given up a 3 run home run. I’m glad I was mistaken and Lilly can get another win… I hope!
That was 447 feet.
Barajas looks like a heavy set Teixeira
I guess Lilly was due to get roughed up a little.
Do you believe this?
Looks like it took Barajas all of 6 innings to pass Ausmus in RBI. Next up, Ellis.
You don’t think he could pass Martin do you?
A.J. Ellis and Brad Ausmus combined for 3 XBH in 133 PA this yr (all doubles); Rod Barajas does it in 3 PA, with a HR!

WTG Dodgers, shutting them down after we take the lead.
Just the same, I don’t want a 35-36 year old starting catcher next year.
lol geez no he didn’t.
You can put Manny on waiver now.
That inning looked like a flashback to ’08 or ’09.
WTG Belli.
I am stuck watching the gnats game on tv. They are already up 3-0 in the 2nd. They got Cody Ross kind of hoping they wouldn’t. They picked him off the waiver wire, thinking the Padres were going after him, but they got stuck with their 7th outfielder. He is working out though. He had a off the bench hit last night and has a hit and an RBI already tonight.
That what happen to Gibbons making his 1st out with the Dodgers on a k’s. Good dp there Belliard.
I see JoJo just HAS to get that Pathednik/Thidiot combo together every game some how.
LOL Beav!!!
JoJo has a poop fetish!!! And with Manny, its a soap fetish!!!
Think you’re right Wally. Manny’s the total soaps.
Unfishingbelievable!!!!
Somehow I don’t think Kuo’s cutout to be a closer.
I think Manny and all of his soap will be with the White Sox before weeks end.
That would be terrific Tru!!!
BPB1 ~ somebody said they heard it has already happened. Wanted verification.
Neither does Broxton and Dotel lol
Lilly 5-0 – strike while the iron’s hot Ned.
Way to get yourself out of trouble, Kuo!
Hong Shi says….
Fu’Kuo’ll
I hope we get 2 more pitching prospect from them if Manny does go to the White Sox.
WAY TO GO KUO.
17
Enchanted – they aren’t going to be able to keep Lilly for next year. He will cost too much for what Frank is willing to spend as we all already know.
Why did the Giants get Cody Ross? I was thinking Rowand would’ve been on the phantom DL.
I can see if they was going to block the Padres but do they know the Padres was going to pick him up?
Shad – the gnats were trying to avoid the Padres from getting him, but instead got stuck with him (not that getting stuck with him is a bad thing).
That’s what I mean Nells – deal Lilly now while he’s hot for some good prospects.
Doubt they’ll get anything for Manny except not have to pay him what’s left of his contract.
The only thing I can see is an upgrade over Venable but I doubt the Padres want to mess with chemistry.
WooHoo, win streak!!! Nice job Lilly and Barajas!!!
That’s what I meant too enchanted. I was just trying to reitirate what you were trying to say, but it didn’t come out like that, and there is no do-overs on ITD once you hit the submit button – LOL!!! If that were so, I would be doing them quite often 🙂
Shad – I doubt the Padres are going to mess with anything either, but the gnats GM was thinking they might so he tried to be sneaky and got caught with an extra outfielder instead. The fans are too happy with the move, but I am sure they aren’t griping too much at the moment seeing how they are winning 7-2 against the Reds (make that 7-3, Phillips just hit another solo shot).
Jhall – It’s all about the little things now. Take pride in the wins when we get them and hope for the best 🙂
In the gnat game just now……………….the bullpen pitcher for the gnats who was warming up just picked up a fair ball. The argument is if that were a fan, he would be thrown out of the ballpark. What happens when one of the players does it? Should he be kicked out of the game as well. Well, it’s 7-5 now………… Sanchez is leaving the game :)) GO REDS!!!!
Well nothing wrong with that one and they have to be very careful.
Ned doo’s all over everything.
All of the position players are have been used in the Phillies game, Howard got thrown out and Oswalt is playing left field. Too funny!!!!
I’d immediately protest the game as a precautionary measure.
Good evening all! I’ve been very irregular here as life has kept me very busy, but all is well. I’m glad to see a win tonight, and see Barajas do so well. Hey, I was wondering if anyone has an idea of who is going on the tour? Has nelly taken roll? 🙂
Wow Howard must’ve been mad and got ejected Oswalt is now playing LF and Ibanez moved to 1st.
I just saw that too tru. LOL!!!
Now Gload is ejected.
lol ibb Victorino with the 1st 2 guys out strange but not surprise when Oswalt was hitting next.
Oh n/m it was Herndon
uggghhhh!!! 10-5 gnats 😦
Okay – Where were these Reds pitchers when we were playing them? blahhhh!!!
Damn Reds I agree
lol Leake 6 ER’s and I thought he was supposed to be good.
Jeff Fulchino pitching for Houston HOU PHI
B Schneider grounded out to second. 4 2
J Rollins struck out swinging. 4 2
P Polanco walked. 4 2
C Utley intentionally walked, P Polanco to second. 4 2
R Oswalt grounded out to third.
hahahaha I remember when Bochy ibb Bonds with the bases loaded.
If i’m not mistaken the Padres was ahead in that game.
Dylan Hernandez comes across some interesting things people think and say….. This is part of a conversation he is having with Joe Torre about suggestions people make to him about the Dodgers.
Joe Torre has been approached by someone who wants him to be to the Dodgers what Nolan Ryan is to the Rangers.
hmmmmmm………………..if he can’t manage them, maybe he can own them.
More McCourt drama about ownership of the Dodgers…..
http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=news&cd=2&ved=0CCwQqQIwAQ&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.latimes.com%2Fsports%2Fla-sp-0825-mccourt-divorce-20100825%2C0%2C7323923.story&ei=f8d0TL-BHsbdngey2cHZBg&usg=AFQjCNECGEKGLXsWHpMiDp-iiO9ydqi_yQ
From another article……………
The Dodgers owner, in town for the unveiling of a statue of Commissioner Bud Selig, says ‘the guys are fighting [and] I’m proud of them,’ but declines to discuss his divorce, his spending on players ? or anything else.
Questions about his upcoming divorce trial, the future of Dodgers ownership and the team’s willingness to spend for new players remained off-limits.
But Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, in town Tuesday to help celebrate the unveiling of a statue of Commissioner Bud Selig at Miller Park, agreed to take one question from a reporter concerning the team’s performance.
“It’s been a frustrating season, there’s no question about it,” McCourt said. “But the guys are fighting. I’m proud of them for that reason.”

In my quest in looking for some mlb news that I thought was interesting but couldn’t (which I still haven’t found yet), I came across this on facebook late last night/early this morning (I know………….but I couldn’t sleep), but it wouldn’t post for whatever reason, and it wasn’t the usual SEH that I am used to. Anyhow, just know we are not alone in our thinking or beliefs on what is happening to our beloved Dodger Organization. This is a comment/post that is written by a Dodger fan that goes by Blue Rising Lasorda.
5 days from now we take our protest to the streets. 5 is to honor DEE GORDON, #5 for The Chatanooga Lookouts. He is The Dodgers top prospect in the minors and every day I wake up in fear that Frank has given him up in a trade so he won’t have to pay someone’s salary. Branch built The Dodgers in a very different and unique way- thr…ough a groundbreaking minor league system and MONEY SPENT TO SIGN AND DEVELOP PLAYERS. This tradition has sustained the Dodgers greatness for years. The great Dodger infield of the seventies all started out together in Spokane. Now the evil lizard carpetbagger from Boston has slashed money and gutted our system…taking us from #1 to #26. How long until he gives away Dee Gordon because he doesn’t want to pay some corpse of a relief pitcher’s salary?!? His ten year plan was to slash payroll and double ticket prices…how can you do this in the second largest media market in the country with record breaking attendance? Well, the major league documents leaked this week show that there is real money to be made in baseball by slashing prices and doing just enough to get by. This is what happens when you sell a team to a guy with nothing but a parking lot. We must blame Bud Selig for allowing this to happen. It was disgusting seeing Bud Selig get a statue today. It was very lifelike…the only thing it was missing was blue blood on his hands and steroid needles under his shoes. Enough talk! in FIVE days we take it to the streets and I hope we all get to see Dee Gordon play in blue heaven on earth under a new owner that cares about building a winner from the ground up in The Great Dodger Way. PROTEST. AUGUST 30th. THE COURTHOUSE.
36 errors (Dee Gordon) don’t lie do they Bear? Neither does a .280 avg. and a .330 OBP.
.
I’m more than willing to give him a couple more years in the minors to develop, but bring him up now? Don’t think so.
Speed, but no power or D – sounds to me like he’d probably make a better outfielder.
.
Ah, wait a minute…
Today may be the farewell of Manny…he is likely to be put on waivers.
I can just see McCourt in his huge office at Dodger Stadium, sweating at the desk with a fan on..Looking like Mr. Burns, rubbing his hands together as he is hopeful his assets are claimed off waivers for millions of dollars… He’ll spin around in his chair like the Emperor in Return of the Jedi and say to his son…As you can see, my young apprentice, your friends have failed. Then morph into Sauron, etc
I wasn’t posting the comments to promote Dee Gordon. We all have our favorites, both in the minors and the big club. It was more about what other fans are thinking of our team and what it has become because of the current ownership. I think our thoughts as a group of Dodger fans (from the casual to the fanatical) that without a change in ownership, we are screwed for not just this year and next, but perhaps many years to come.
Not going to get any prospects for him either unless McCheap eats some salary, and that has all the likelihood of spontaneous human combustion.
Thank God though we have Posednik to take Manny’s place.
Yes, that’s heavy sarcasm.
I’m hoping Gordon is the next Reyes.
Just remember Gordon is only 22 years old give him a couple of more year first. I’m a little bit dumb and have him in our starting lineup by 2012. I’ve heard that Jeter had something like 50+ errors in the minor.
Wow Sands was drafted in the 25th round in 2008 and already have 33 HR this season and hit 15 in Double A in only 213 AB’s. Well let see what he can do in Triple A.
lineup: Theriot 4 Ethier 9 Ramirez 7 Kemp 8 Blake 5 Loney 3 Carroll 6 Barajas 2 Kuroda 1
It’s done….Manny on waivers.
“Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez finally hit waivers on Wednesday afternoon.”
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB&hl=302611
Only problem is that we’re only dumping more salary here. No way we’re getting any prospects for Ramirez. Oh, we might get a minor leaguer or two, but they won’t be a “prospect”. That is, unless we eat money. And we know that ain’t happening.
Sorry Nells, I was commenting on the commentor about Dee Gordon. I think they we’re a little overzealous about Dee right now.
.
And its a fine pedigree Dee would come from when talking about farm developed SSs: Offerman, Izturis, Hu, DeJesus Sr., Guzman, Castro (I’d add Landestoy, but I think he was 2B.)
.
This club doesn’t exactly have a reputation of developing worthwhile young shortstops in the last three decades.
They are now saying, Kuroda, Poopsednick, Casey Blake and Jay Gibbons were all put on waivers too.
Is that Joel Guzman?
No worries enchanted. It was more about me clarifying myself.
It will be interesting who gets picked up off of waivers.
I seriously don’t think Hu really had a chance to prove himself since I remember he had a problem with his vision when we sent him down.
E – Thank you for putting “spontaneous human combustion” and “McCheap” in the same sentence. We can always hope.
Someone please claim Blake and trade him asap but they probably won’t bring up Mitchell when the roster expand.
Dang Braves I thought you guys would score more than 10 runs since you were up 10-1.
Such a hitter park in Coors 10-10.
Sherrill refused his assignment to get sent down.
You’re welcome Crash.
And they said it couldn’t be done…
BTW, how many times a day must I sign in without ever signing out? I must sign in 5-7 times a day. Sometimes I’ll hit submit when it says above “Thanks for signing in… now you can comment”, and it kicks me straight to the sign in page. Sometimes though if I just hit the back arrow without resigning in, it’ll let me post what I was going to.
Then of course there’s the wonderful “cannot display this webpage” that’ll pop up when the page is trying to reload whether there are 3-4 posts or 500-600 on the thread.
Can someone pull their head out long enough to fix this blog once and for all?
.
JOSH – I invite you sometime in the offseason when you have a free evening to join us here as a poster (anonymously is fine), just so that you can see what it is we go though on a daily basis. Maybe then you’ll be able to relate to the powers that be who are supposed to fix these things exactly what’s happening.
I think he can be flat-out released without his consent, but if claimed, the Dodgers can pull him back and trade him. For THAT, they’ll need his consent. Which will probably mean more $.
…….and don’t forget that just because they’ve been put on waivers that it means they’re gone. Sherrill is still here.
Shad, I am not surprised by anything the other clubs do but I am certainly disappointed at what the Dodgers have not been able to do this season. The magic from last season wore off a long time ago. Last season the Dodgers won a bunch of games in the late innings, many in the last at bat. This season they have lost a ton of games in the late innings or the opponents last at bat. Last season the bullpen played a pivitol role in the team’s success while this season it has played a pivitol role in the team’s lack of success. I said at the beginning of the season that I was not going to let the ownership issues be a distraction but with the team’s struggles, it has been almost impossible to focus only on the team.
It certainly does look as if this season belongs to the Padres and possibly the Giants. At this point all I can hope for is that the Dodgers come out ready to play every day and hopefully can get some momentum and end the season on a high note. Maybe the Dodgers can make a run, maybe not. Maybe they can derail the Giants and keep the orange out of the playoffs. We will see.
e, that’s an excellent suggestion.
I think so, too, E!
Hello ITD!
Exellent idea Eric about checking about the Guinness record.
Carol,
If you re reading this, I just sent you an email about a job opening here at work for an associate Tax Accountant. Not sure if it’s too far for you. I just happen to see it on the board. I sent you an email too.
