Fenway musings

Manny just got a half standing ‘O’ and half standing boo in his first at-bat before flying out to center field on the first pitch. But one thing is hard to debate…this place is a pretty unique and as a fan of the history of the game, you can’t help but be impressed.

The Green Monster is massive and certainly looks like you could hit one over it yourself, though obviously it’s not that easy. Definitely have to take a trip inside it tomorrow.

The bomb that David Ortiz hit past the 420 sign gives you a pretty good idea of just how far you have to hit it to go out to right-center.

There’s a lot of media here for Manny…everyone was curious whether or not he would speak to the media, but I’m more curious to see what he does in the batter’s box this weekend.

A good amount of Celtic green in the crowd and while I feel bad for them, well…no I don’t. Go Lakers.

More importantly, there’s a lot of Dodger blue in the crowd, so thanks for showing up here to support your team.

Sorry guys, but, Carlos isn’t very good. We really need for Frank and Ned to get us a pitcher.

  2. lbirken@aol.com

Josh, you are so right about Manny. He needs to do his talking with the bat but from his first two at bats he certainly is in a hurray not to say anything.

Nice 3rd inning by the Blue: Greedy Reed, Jamey the sacraficer, The Tripling Bison and MartyFrohawk. Even with a shaky Monster Stereo, we gotta brand new ballgame already!

PHEW, and I know we all sighed in unison at the end of the 3rd inning, right? Bases loaded 2-outs rally, Carlos should be on a short leash tonight…

  4. glbbie23

Alright, CarMon settling in, nice 1-2-3 inning kid… 11 pitches too. If we can score some runs here, Carlos could have a nice decision opp pitching another scoreless inning…

  5. glbbie23

Stick a fork in the kid, CarMon is done.

Geez, Kemp sure f’ed up out there… TWICE. What he heck is he doing in Center tonight?!?

And why does JT continue to bring in RamTron with runners on in jam situations? Didn’t he learn from one of Troncoso’s bad innings similar to this one a week ago?!? Weaver does way better with runners on base pressure – we all know this!!!

I hope the Dodgers forget about the score and the offense shows some life.
I hate to see them look helpless.

I think it a curse Troncoso was terrible in Torre 1st year pitching for us good last year and got worst this year. Wade pitch well as a rookie and was bad last year. I miss the good Wade maybe just maybe both of these guy would have a great year next year with a new coach and I have a feeling Torre won’t be back.

  8. nedajerk

Oh you can put Sherrill on that list and where was Weaver? I would had him over Troncoso and to think they was consider him for the 5th starting job in ST.

  9. nedajerk

Damn it Torre leave Johnson in why used Anderson my god I don’t think Johnson would had did worst in that situation than Anderson.

    Career vs. BOS 126 499 47 154 34 2 17 89 24 65 4 4 .309 .338 .487 .825

I love those numbers but still Anderson is done.

  11. nedajerk

Time to send Troncoso on the phatom DL and keep Travis up. lol wow Garza 49 pitches in the 1st inning?

  12. nedajerk

lol who’s this SF Giants rejected 5k’s in 3 innings. If this game were over than he would had the rare 3 inning saves.

  13. nedajerk

lol really Torre? Come on what is Belasario doing in this game? You could’ve sent out Sherrill back out there or even let Loney pitch lol.

  14. nedajerk

Troncoso should take notes Belasario getting those grounded ball. I want the old Troncoso back from last year.

  15. nedajerk

To bad Troncoso won’t get the lost because of that mlb rules. If it was hockey and the backup gave up the winning goal while we trail by alot the lost goes to him.

Swell…..the Dodgers might make Vargas the 5th starter. How the heck is that going to make things better?

  17. trublu4ever

Me too, Shad. I would really like to get Oswalt or Lee but, I’d take Weaver over anyone else we have right now. He has a little bit of pitching savvy.

  18. jhallwally

Oh heavy sigh!!! Another t*rd in the old punch bowl. What a stinker!!! It’s no mystery that pitching is where its at and with estranged Frank, we’re freaking toast as far as spending to get quality pitching.

The same old story most likely ending up with the same result………… “We gave it our best shot, but it just wasn’t a right fit.”

Why not try something new Frank and Ned? When Dodger fans and the rest of the baseball world are screaming for you to get “real” pitching in the off season, maybe you should listen to them for a change. It would be nice to once not have to have the “let’s wait and see what surfaces and hope for the best” mentality every June/July before the deadline.

  20. kpookiemon

What a pisser of a game. Kept hating Frank for going cheap on starting pitching. Kemp, Ethier, Manny, Loney, Blake, Martin…they know the owner went cheap on starting pitching, too. Dodgers are bobbing in the water with flotsam like the Padres, Gnats and Rox. That this team had to throw Monasterios, Troncoso and Schlichting as the opening act to Fenway is ridiculous.

  21. enchantedbeaver

Vargas is about what I expected out of Ned & Frank.

I haven’t been posting lately because I finally came to the conclusion that if Frank doesn’t care about his team, why should I? He ought to look at the Lakers organization and be ashamed of his, but as the saying goes, “some men you just cain’t reach…”

  22. knouffbrock@frontiernet.net

So it must be painfully obvious to everyone by now, we need a pitcher. Vargas? Get real. Have we not experimented with the scrap heap enough this year. Perhaps Ely can adjust, but it has become apparent the league has his number, from what I’ve read. Padilla can help, but more than likely we’ll need more. We can win the division with what we have, but as we ALL KNOW, we’ll need more later. With Billz down, we have got to have more than the Kid and Kuroda to send out there. Colletti is supposed to be looking and there is time to put something together, but if this does not happen this year, then I think we just being told to be satisfied being a also-ran. We’re waiting.

  23. knouffbrock@frontiernet.net

The Dodgers scored 6 runs yesterday. A team with GOOD PITCHING will win with that many. We’re waiting.

  24. trublu4ever

I totally agree with you, Knouff! Six runs should be plenty to win a ball game. I am getting to the point where BPB1 is…..not having much good to say, I may take time off too. I do support the players who have given their all to try and win but, they have to be feeling no matter what they do it won’t be good enough.
    .
SO, BE FAIR TO THE LOYAL FANS, FRANK….SELL THE TEAM TO SOMEBODY WHO REALLY CARES!!!!!

Don’t care for the seats that we got with the i Dodgerlife event. We are in RF box 88 section 2 seats in TT. Other than the loss last night, we are having a great time. Like I said a couple of days, they should have given the start to Weaver.
Forgot my computer adaptor but I am borrowing my friends so will post pics soon.
