Day baseball

In case you forgot, today is a day game in Cincinnati so tune in now to PRIME Ticket or KABC while you’re in the office or hanging out on a summer morning.

After the game, the team flies to Boston, of all places, where everyone will surely have their eyes on Game 7 of the NBA Finals. We all wish the Lakers luck tonight in the finale and hopefully Los Angeles will have another championship by night’s end. If not, we’ll be stuck watching the parade on Saturday in Beantown.

    Hi Everybody
Well we had a great time yesterday, Truebluewill and I meeting up with Fan Since 53 and his daughter Fan Since 85
from L.A. and we’ll meet up with them again on Saturday in Boston.
We got to try to sweep the Reds today.
    GO DODGERS!!!!

Good morning everybody! Glad to see our boys going for a sweep today! This weekend should be very interesting with Manny and his return to Boston. I just hope we can show our stuff off in the AL East!

I suspected that Manny, perhaps others would get the day off, but having furcal gone more than one game, ouch! although I am a carroll fan! So it seems Ely will do his best to win this game, nice hitting, now keep the good pitching going. This team is beginning to develop a character, already established that they can put some runs up, so even if trailing in the 8th or 9th it isn’t over, But lately with the DL issues, the bench has become a good part of the team, yes even Garrett contributed, to become like the stunt men of the 88 team, add the pitching that has come together, improved defense and some good mojo from the bounce of the ball or an ump’s call. Go Dodgers!

the last pitcher to hit a 3-run HR against the Dodgers was Billy Swift of the Rockies, on May 7, 1995

Manny hit a grand slam!? Ha shades of his bobblehead night last season. What I don’t understand is JT putting him up in that situation, it would not win the game. To think Bils would have been pitching this game. Well glad this is over taking 2 of 3 from a Hot team is great. I really hope kemp can get his bat in order, I’ll take this game as an abbreration, we really aren’t that bad.

I can not believe Dodgers forgot to show up to the game today. Maybe it was too early. Well off to BOSTON.

Prayers go out to the Furcal family. Hopefully Raffy comes back soon!

I guess we are suffering a little Redleg payback today. Disappointing day for Mr. Ely but isn’t this the third start in a row where he has not had the magic of his first few starts? I do hope this is only a temporary setback for him and not indicative of what is to come. He certainly was a breath of fresh air for an embattled pitching staff, at least until now.

    EMMA,
I will be checking the score using the internet. NO tv’s in our office. Should be a fun game today. I have a French Lady co-worker that is talking madness and most of us are Mexican here.LOL! All the Engineers are taking a 2 hour lunch and going to a pub. The architects called it off. And it is just the French lady, my boss (German) and myself left in the office.

    Good morning ITD.
    Sellthetm,
I saw that stat from Eric. also he said the last three mania pitchers have given up 3-run HR to pitchers. Fernando, Nomo and now Ely. Hey! Mike Brito is still with the Dodgers. I see him at the stadium with his guayabera shirts.
    .
Is unfortunate that we will not have Raffy for a few games just when he was hitting well. I know those bearevements trips back home are tough but most likely he is traveling with his brother who is always with him.
    .
I am excited about the trip to Boston. I’ll be at the airport watching the end of the LAker game!
    Go Lakers
    Go Dodgers.
    .
    OBF!
I know fan since 53! He is the one that is in the Bluetopia movie, right?
I don’t have my tickets with me, but I’ll let you know tomorrow where we will be. Maybe we can have another group pic on Saturday.

    Hi Rosie,
So you will be watching the soccer game? Just a few days before the World Cup, they setup two tvs in the cafeteria and installed a satelite dish. I imagine the caft will be packed at lunchtime. I take a Pilates class at noon Mon, Tues and Thurs at work. I’ll stop afterwards to see how the game is going.

  13. nedajerk

Urgh why couldn’t Manny hit a GS? That would’ve been nice after hitting 2 homeruns in back to back games.

  14. nedajerk

On June 21, 1988 the Dodgers beat the Braves 2-1 at Dodger Stadium. The attendance was only 18,485, as LA fans were more enamored with the goings on in Inglewood that night.

I love reading TBLA and we all know what’s happen that night.

  15. lbirken@aol.com

Today’s game was a big dud for the Dodgers. The media is sure making a big deal out of this weekend’s games in Boston and will do the same thing when the Yankees come to Dodger Stadium. These two series are intriguing because even though any wins or losses count the same as any other games the Dodgers play, all the attention puts more pressure on the team to do well. I am not sure if the players actually feel more pressure but they cannot be immune to all the excitement and anticipation. So perhaps today was just one of those days where the early mid week start impacted the energy level and we will see a better effort in Boston.

  16. lbirken@aol.com

knouff, not sure what it is. He had great control in those first few starts and seemed to keep the hitter off balance. Of course, no one knew what to expect from him but maybe now teams have scouted him a bit. Hopefully he can make the adjustments necessary. Today the home run bug bit him good including a three run shot by the opposing pitcher. Ely did drive in the only Dodger run today so go figure.

  17. knouffbrock@frontiernet.net

I cannot see or hear the games, so I really don’t know what is going on with Ely. Is he just missing his spots or going away from what we was successful with? Or has the league already figured him out? Like what happened to Bo Belinsky. Does anyone have an opinion?

  18. nellyjune

See Frank………….The Laker fans are really happy right now. Why? ………………because their team just won the NBA Championship!!

That’s what Dodger fans want Frank!! We want the whole thing Frank!!! We want and deserve a shot at the ring!!! We want a Dodger Blue and Wedding Gown White parade Frank!!

  19. northstateblues

I don’t think Frank can read your post, Nelly. He’s probably still soaking up the tears with his Kleenex after the Celtics lost game 7.

That is, unless he magically thought the Lakers have the best fans in all of basketball after moving to LA from Boston in 2004.

Ahh, Game 7. It was the best of games, it was the worst of games…

  20. nedajerk

I can’t believe how flat the Lakers came out at the start and we still won. Mitch is such a good GM take notes McCourt.

  21. nedajerk

I think Manny is luck for the Lakers. Did anyone see that interview with Artest? Artest look like he was drunk.

  22. thinkingblue

    Good Morning All,
Oh man I’m sure our boys in blue are NOT very welcomed in Boston right now. I’m glad the Lakers kick the Celtics butt. But the only part that sucks about his victory is that Frank probably had his money on the Celtics…so there goes our chances in the Dodgers getting a great pitcher….again.

A Laker fan was sporting a t-shirt that read: ” L.A. CAN’T BE BEAT BY BOSTON”.

  23. Dodger4life

    Good afternoon everyone……………….
    .
Only thing, I really have to say is………………….

I’ll be there tomorrow, with TBW.
Let’s hope we all meet up, those of us who are going.
    We’ll be Sec 36 Row 12 Seats 19 & 20.
GO Monasterios GO DODGERS!!! GO MANNY!!!!!

  25. perumike

Good afternoon all! Will be watching the game, but probably not on here too much as my wife will be using my computer. I hope you all have a great game!

  26. lbirken@aol.com

Asking a lot from Monestarios today but he is earning a big league paycheck and has to show he belongs. Two familiar faces in the Boston lineup with Beltre and J.D. Drew. Funny, I have good memories of Beltre’s last year as a Dodger but other than being a part of the back to back to back to back home run parade, almost no good memories of Drew.
