The Empire Strikes Dodger Stadium

No, not the Padres…though as the first place team at the moment, they are kind of like the evil empire right now.

We’re talking about tomorrow night’s promotion which I’m sure you’ve all heard about, but there’s a really funny Jib Jab video that utilizes a few of our players. The My Town section is completely sold out, there are still tickets left for other areas of the stadium, where fans will get the poster that you see at the same link.

It’s actually pretty cool that what started as a simple request to use Yoda on our billboards has turned into a great relationship with the Lucas Films people (and the Yoda billboard actually won an advertising award). There are a lot of Dodger fans who like Star Wars and vice versa, so hopefully some of you fall into that category. It’s also sparked other similar relationships with the people at SpongeBob and Phineas and Ferb and for any of you with kids, you know how big those characters are with your little ones.

Otherwise, just another busy day at the stadium. We actually had a news conference here for the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, where this guy performed a song. If you haven’t seen this yet, you’ll be amazed at his voice. He’s up to almost 7 million hits on youtube and he was extolling the virtues of visiting Taiwan, as were James Loney, Jamey Carroll, Xavier Paul and Hong-Chih Kuo. By the way, if you missed all the videos from our trip to Taiwan back in March, you can check them out here (keyword Taiwan).

OK, that’s three video links in one blog post, which I think is probably a record for Inside the Dodgers. So, we’ll end the post now.

My friend Julie who is a big STar War fan will be there. She is a St Louis Cardinal fan but I don’t hold it against her 🙂

i am really getting tired of seeing Dewitt in the starting lineup.
He is not producing. Do we have another option. Why don’t they play Belliard more often.

  4. koufax1963

Dewitt not producing, have you forgot two triples the other night.

what bugs me is that sponge bob anderson is in the game, we would be better off to have phineas and ferb to play the OF and PH. Geez has the death star landed outside chavez ravine yet?

Good evening ITD boys and girls!
Well, we all know the streak couldn?t last forever. I?m just glad that they were able to make it to 9 wins in a row!
    ***Note to Josh***
It?s been a while, but I?m going to the Saturday night game on June 5 against Atlanta with my mom! Perhaps this time I?ll REALLY be there! No, I will be there! ? I will DEFINITELY let you know if I get hung up again and can?t make it. I would LOVE TO see you again on June 5th!

    My Nellygirl!!!
Great to see ya!!! I’ know, I know. I’ve been scarce lately. So how are things in Nor Cal these days???

no i did not forget the two triples. I have been watching all the games. He got lucky that the outfielder did not catch those balls, a better defensive player would have caught those balls. He is not hitting the ball solid. I would not be so frustrated, if i saw him hit the ball hard. But he is not making solid contact. Thats my frustration.

    Hiya Everybody
Hope last night’s loss was just a blip and we start over again to night on another winning streak. I think it’s tough without Andre’ and Manny but another good outing from Kershaw should makeup for that.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!

The Padres are but mere Jawas. (Maybe even Dink-Dinks)

Everyone knows that the New York American League Baseball Club is the Evil Empire.

And yet, we have forked-tongued, tin-earred Palpatine for an owner, poised to crush our beloved Dodger Republic and assimilate them into stormtroopers like every other franchise, poised to serve the Evil Empire (reminder: NY AL Baseball Club)

Our Blue Rebels still fight for the side of good… can they win it all before Ned and Frank execute order 66?

(Yeah, tons of contradictions here, but you know what I’m getting at)

To quote another franchise whose FO has been taking hits in the media: Just Win, Baby.

Because if we don’t, the natives will grow restless.

And as far as Dewitt is concerned, I think he is doing quite well. Yes, his fielding at 2B isn?t the slickest thing we?ve seen, but then again, there aren?t that many slick fielding 2Bmen and Orlando Hudson. And I do believe his defensive play will only get better with more experience. Plus, DeWitt?s offensive production is good. No, he?s not lighting up the storm like he did early in 2008, but remember, he was a bit of an unknown commodity at the time. I think Blake has performed admirably.

And as for GA, I thought all along that GA would spell Manny in the late innings as a defensive change, late in the game. Perhaps get spot starts, but mainly be the lefty off the bench. I though Reed Johnson would get the majority of the starts that Manny and now, Andre don?t start.

By the way, I’ve done a (very) little research and am going to be the first ITDer to predict when the Time Warp reaches an even hour. Matt’s 18th birthday, May 22, 2010 @ 5:06PM Pacific.

By dodgereric on February 7, 2010 3:02 PM

Drat. Missed it by two days.

  12. dodgereric

Isn’t that just perfect? I go and brag about my 1-hour Warp prediction 3 – 1/2 months ago and now I’m not even in the Warp! LMAO!!

Hey, OBF! Counting this one, how many GEMS has Kershaw pitched this year?

  13. nedajerk

No win for Timmy again abd look like bochy had Timmy batting 8th an always seem weird when a pitcher bat 8th. What the hell Belliard over Dewitt I don’t think so? I want Belliard over Carroll but Carroll is actually hitting good.

Hey CP!!!! I am doing good. I was at Andre’s Bobblehead night on Tuesday. I thought for sure you would be there. How are you?

    Time check 🙂
    9:31 pm, pst.

  15. nellyjune

    Great Stuff NSB!!!!!!!

    Hey Jhall!!!!!

Ohhh Ward Dear – I am right here!!! LMAO!!!! Boy, I leave my phone for a half hour and a search party is practically called out. I had messages on my phone, on facebook and my hubby came home asking why I wasn’t answering my phone.

  16. nellyjune

So, Dodgereric, can we officially say ITD is one hour ahead?
    May 20, 9:38 pm, pst

    LET’S GO DODGERS, LET’S GO!!!!

  17. nedajerk

I guess that was Kershaw that started the 8th so I guess Belasario had 2 of the 3 k’s in that inning.

  18. nellyjune

Way to go Kersh!!!! ……….and thanks to the bullpen for finishing it up!!! Great job to Jamey Carroll too!!!!

  19. nedajerk

Stadium Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Attendance 40,138 (71.7% full) – % is based on regular season capacity

Stadium Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, CA
Attendance 38,856 (69.4% full) – % is based on regular season capacity

lol seriously that many people to show up to see an Ortiz game last night and a Kershaw game gets 38,856 tonight

  20. nedajerk

I love how we got Sweeney for free lol. Yeah free because the guy we traded him for Denker is batting .367 with a .650 slg.

  21. nellyjune

It’s really kind of nice right now being a Dodger fan in gnat country. It’s nice to be over one hurdle. The next one is stepping right over the Padres back into our rightful spot, which is first place.
    GO DODGERS!!!!
