The final warm up

Getting underway here at the stadium in the final Spring Training game…apparently it’s a huge game in Japan because Hideki Matsui will face Hiroki Kuroda for the first time in America.

The press box is packed…at least 30 Japanese media members here to document it and the weather is 66 degrees. We take off for Pittsburgh as soon as this one ends!

    Hi Everybody
It looks like the Dodgers are trying to find out another way that they can lose.
I hope that they find it and that’s the end of it.

It is always a good feeling to start a new season. This year will be tough but the Dodgers have a chance to repeat if they play good fundamental baseball.

    .

Hey Vinny, I know you are a New Yorker but it is not PIN-air-oh, it is peen-YAIR-oh.

IMHO the Dodgers will finish third in the division this year.
It will only prove that you can’t keep ignoring the off-season opportunities year after year without paying a penalty. Not only that we don’t have much promising in our farm system, but the fact that we’re not even striving for a couple of extra high ranking draft picks, because we can’t afford to pay the signing bonus. It goes back to not offering arbitration to Wolfe and Hudson, which would have been a given for two picks.

Our 2010 season will end Frank’s bragging rights about his playoff achievement, but no doubt he’ll still collect the big bucks from another 3 million plus attendance season. I hope Jamie wins her case to collect most of that money from Frank, so that he gets closer to the decision or necessity to
    SELL THE TEAM.

I’m here, OBF. Not very happy with the way this game is going. I know Joe is probably letting some of these guys play, because they won’t be on the team tomorrow, but, I would have liked to see what our starting lineup can do.

Since the Dodgers don’t have much success with the hit and run, why doesn’t Torre sacrifice more often with position players?

  6. 32and53fan

Now it will all count. So far this year, I am not impressed with the hitting or defense. I hope it was because they were just “working” on stuff and not because they are just a mediocre team.

Time will tell Bear, but right now, I’d have to agree with your assessment. Unless that is Webb comes back fairly strong, then I can easily see 4th.

Furcal will be leading off all year unless he gets gurt. Roidless Manny is what you’d expect him to be. Dre I believe has reached his ceiling. Loney’s just an enigma. Martin’s just ******. DeWitt’s no Hudson with the glove. Billz is no better than a #3 anymore. The bullpen sucks right now. We have a knuckleballer as a #5… need I go on? Unless 3-4 guys have career years, I’m just not seeing even a wildcard.

Somebody please tell me which part of Nick Green’s sub .150 average does the legendary stubborn asss manager not understand. Here’s the last Spring Training game, and he’s still looking for some justification to stick old Nick on the team.

  9. trublu4ever

In fact, Bear, if Joe goes with 11 pitchers, Green will probably be on the squad. That’s according to what Charlie just said. I, myself, would rather have Paul. But, I’m not the Legendary Stubborn Asss!

  10. trublu4ever

There seems to be more and more words we can’t use anymore, Enchanted. Pretty soon we won’t be able to say Joe, Frank, Ned or Jamie šŸ™‚

  11. jhallwally

:))) I could not have said it better Beav and Bear!!! Hello gang and Happy Easter!!! I hope Billz works on clearing out the roadblock between his ears!!! Billz needs to get a sack!!!!

  12. messagebear@msn.com

IMO, trublu instead of the legendary stubborn asss, I see you more as legendary, possibly stubborn, but definitely FANtastic.

  13. trublu4ever

Thanks, Bear. I appreciate the kind words, sir šŸ™‚ I am a lot like you. Only thing is you express yourself in words I wish I had thought of first.

  14. jhallwally

LOL!!! Bear, keep bringing the high hard ones!!! The only ones offended just can’t handle the truth!!!!

  15. messagebear@msn.com

Has anybody considered that Belliard’s contract condition should have specified that he should weigh in OVER 211 lbs. instead of under? Right now he’s in serious competition with Nick Green.

  16. jhallwally

LOL Trumom!!! I’m surprised that Bud and MLB let Frank and Jamie continue to wreck a storied franchise to perpetuate their wanna-be blue blood lifestyle!!!

  17. jhallwally

Well, aside from another Billz meltdown, our boys performed well!!! This one doesn’t count so who knows where their heads are. Monday in Pittsburgh, we get real!!!

  18. nedajerk

If Furcal and Kemp are 1 and 2 like they suppose be than he better used the hit and run every damn time.

  19. messagebear@msn.com

What has Honeycutt done for us lately?
    Or Donny?
    Or Joe?

Never mind Frank and Ned, both #482 PLUS!

  20. messagebear@msn.com

Bud with his small market mentality absolutely didn’t want the LA franchise to go to anybody with a big market mentality and pocketbook to operate like the Yankees or Red Sox. He picked well in that respect, and too bad for us the FANS. Bud in my opinion is the biggest MLB disgrace of the past decade if not longer.

Good to see you here, jhall!

  21. nellyjune

Good Evening ITD readers and writers!!! I see we have been busy today.

It’s good to see you back 32and53 fan!! I’m ready to see what this team can do considering they didn’t seem to get much help in some areas.

enchanted – I am guessing with DeWitt it will be similar to what happened to Andre and JP. Blake will start the Opening game and maybe a few more after that fir outright winning the job, but then after a few games or so, Belliard will take over.

  22. kpookiemon

Well that was a pretty ho-hum Spring. Seeing the legions in Dodger Stadium this afternoon reminded me that this game is a billion times bigger than Frank and Jamie. Just like you wouldn’t pick a movie based on whether it’s a Regal theater or an AMC theater, so too baseball fans will flock to the game, regardless of whether a couple infants own the team. Bring on Monday and the Pirates!

  23. Dodger4life

Good evening, or morning, whichever it may be??to all of ITD? the Dodger Faithful?. and our beloved Boy?s in Blue??..
    .
Another season has come upon us, 2010 starts in Pittsburgh on Monday, the Opening Day starting 25, assembled and ready to go. This off season has instilled a lack of shine, upon the good Dodger name mostly due to the fact that we have some quarrelling idiots for leaders. However a small portion of the off season woe?s can be contributed to the fact that we were run down last year by the Phillie?s, who eventually were overtaken by our old nemesis from the Bronx. They outplayed us when it counted, and should be congratulated, but in saying so, let it be known were break ?in through the road blocks this year!!!
    .
We?re East Bound and Down , loaded up and truckin
Were gonna do what they say can?t be done!!

    .
Last year we had a great start, a great attitude and some awesome firepower. We came out of spring ready to play, ready to prove something to ourselves and the league. We did too, we just ran into someone a little better at the end.
    .
We say we aren?t a bunch of youngsters anymore and that may be true but we can?t get complacent and think that we deserve success. We still have to go out and prove it, no matter how much we have matured. Maturity just means we understand what we need to do to get past the road blocks., and this year our quarreling idiots of leadership?.have decided to string out a few of their own?.. No worries though, we just need to keep the game on the field fun, by doing what has made us successful in the past. Like wanting to be part of the solution , part of the winning attitude and not the problem, not wanting to be the guy that doesn?t pull his weight. This was a big factor in why we won so many games last year, a big factor?.all the walk offs?not just from Andre either from everyone. The bull-pen refusing to let the game get away and keeping it in check?the ability to come from behind like it was our destiny?.you knew we would strike sooner or later, you could just sense it.
    .
    They say:
It aint the man in the fight ~ It?s the fight in the man
And men y?all have 162 regular season battles to attend
162 times to re-prove that you have what it takes to win the fight
    .
Do this better than your counterparts and then we can talk about having some real fun!
    .
We The Faithful whom Adore the Blue?..We Believe!!?. We Believe!!??and Boys? You and Us together deserve better than what our leadership is giving us??Much Better
    .
So It?s Time To BBQ Some A** In Molasses
    .
    LET’S GO DODGERS, LET’S GO!!!!!!!
BRING THE RING TO THE RAVINE IN 2010!!!!
    .

    (P.S)
Frank ~ Listen to me when I?m talking to ya monkeynuts!!!!
    SELL THE TEAM!!!!!
    .
