A typical LA trip to Vegas…

There are many in Los Angeles who enjoy a quick trip to Vegas without ever getting a hotel room…drive in, enjoy all that the city has to offer, and drive home.

Well, that’s what the Dodgers are doing today, they’re just not driving. The team will depart Camelback Ranch in about an hour or so, head to Vegas, play a game against the Reds at our old Triple-A affiliate’s home park, Cashman Field, and then head back to Los Angeles for tomorrow’s game against the Indians.

If you’re home tonight, be sure to tune into PRIME TICKET, where Vin Scully will call the action. And if you’re around tomorrow, come on down to the Ravine to get this season started off right!

GO, DODGERS!!!!!! I LOVE L.A. !!!!!!!!!!

Given this management’s penchant for forcing young guys produce right away, I can’t say as I’m surprised to see Repko released. He siezed one opportunity a couple years back in spring, but then JoJo blew him out of the water for a PVL [surprise.] After that, he just never capitalized on his chances. Its not for the lack of desire, but IMO I don’t think he’ll ever develop into a ML hitter. Goodluck to him though, and may someday he come back to bite Ned and Joe in the asss.

:)))

Stupid time warp!!

Good luck Repko!
.
Josh and company!
Hurry back! Can’t wait to see all of you at the Ravine!
.
My friend Luvthedodgers23 took the stadium tour yesterday with Steve. she said the Top Deck looks beautiful!
.
I hope it will not rain here but if is I got my Dodger Blue raincoat! Still debating if I should take the new Metro bus there tomorrow night.

Goodluck to Stults as well.

Looks like Frank now has about a month’s worth of lawyer money between what he saved on Stults’ and Repko’s contracts, plus the “several hundred thousand dollars” Hiroshima paid for Stults.

Well done Frank. Well done.

Josh Lindblom reassigned to minor league

F**kal continues SUCKING, and Mannyroid is beginning to SUCK as well.

So glad to see that #482 Frank was able to net a few hundred grand out of the Stultz deal. Well, there’s plenty more where that came from, Frank – just sell a few more prospects to Japan as the season rolls along.

Better yet, SELL THE TEAM, you MF**king miserable bas**rd!

I think Repko deserves better than this ……I think we all do.
.
http://twitter.com/dylanohernandez/status/11379853166
.
Sell the team…..Frank!!!!

I think it is safe to say messagebear is just a tad miffed.

………and yes, Dodger4life, Jason certainly deserves better treatment than that.

Nellyjune ~ a tad miffed….lmao!!!!!

So… “Dodgers front office drops the ball…”

Evidently its catching. Ask F**kal.

Gib is in Vegas with tickets in hand for tonight’s game and awaiting the Dodgers. Drove in from Glendale, AZ on Monday after watching half of the Kuroda/J-Martin minor league game and after one day w/o baseball (this after 9 straight days of baseball), I’m ready for my next fix here at Cashman Stadium tonight!

Windy and possibly rainy tonight so we’ll see how it goes.

Bummer on Repko and Stults but I kind of feel they will do better outside the Dodgers org with a team that really needs them right now. Well Repko should find a good team – not sure how Stults will do in Hiroshima…

So what we have here, is FAILURE to communicate.
.
Some men, you just kain’t reach. So you get what we had here today, which is the way Frank wants it, well, he gits it.
.
I don’t like this any more than you…

BTW, Padilla continues to impress. Nice choice for opening day Joe.

Joe to Ned: I thought you were telling him?
.
Ned to Frank: I thought you were telling him?
.
Frank: I was busy with the whole marathon thing!
.
That & dealing with Jamie & the divorce.
.
Extremely poor communication for such a professional organization. Just another embarrasing example of poor ownership/management from our current team.
.
I wonder what that says to the current players about their bosses.
.
I know how I’d feel if it was my bosses…

Collie ~ at least the players have us to get them through this mess. We, the fans, will keep them strong!

Well, maybe Padilla will turn it on when the bell rings, and maybe NOT. At least we’ll find out pretty quickly, because he should be going up against the other teams’ number 1 the first couple of series at least. If it doesn’t work out as Joe expects, it’s a good thing he’s got so many candidates for #5 – he may have to pick one of them for No. 5 and yet another for what’s now No. 1. But that’s why we have such a legendary talent managing the team, and you know that Frank believes he can do it. Why else would Joe ask for pitching help over the last two off-seasons, and Frank pretty much tell him, “I trust you, you can do it with what we’ve got”.

I everbody
WOW Towers sure got lit up there, I wouldn’t be surprise he’ll settle down, it might be just one of those “Wolf” type first innings.

Good evening everyone……………
.
Man, I’ve been waiting all off season for that excitement we were promised…..times a running out….

I have a feeling the ITD Koolaid is going to be in high demand this season.

What a lousy start to a ballgame!

The only thing that last 7 years with the McCourt’s is collateral……

Time warping again!!!

Repko: “The only disappointment is they didn’t show faith in me in the offseason.” Don’t worry Jason, in about 15 years you’ll be just the right age for Ned and Joe. I still say it’s a bad thing to lose that talented a player from your organization. As for Spring Training and its meaningless stats…..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I can’t remember the wind favoring one team so much.

Didn’t the Reds take batting practice BEFORE the game?

It seems that in the last week or too each 5th starter candidate has just swallowed the olive when they had the chance.
.
Torre keeps saying that were in good shape without a #1 because we have solid pitchers the rest of the way.
.
2 problems with that… #1 we don’t have a solid #5.
.
#2 While 2-4 may be very good, in the playoffs having a #1 stud ace type pitcher is the key to doing well.
.
IMO that is what has kept us from moving on to the WS each of the last 2 years. So maybe we can get to the playoffs with who we have now but I don’t think we can move on in them.
.
I’m not faulting Torre for this as he’s wanted pitching each year and gotten none. So I know he’s going to say one thing to the media, but lying in bed at night when he’s talking with his wife I’m sure the words are much different.
.
Think about this… Dre had 6 walk off hits last year. Do you think he could have that many this year. That was special what we saw with him last year. The Dodgers had 36 wins at home and 11 were walk offs (Over 30% of their home wins were via walk off). For the season 31 of their 69 games were via comeback which is also 45%. I’m not thinking that will happen again this season.
.
I’m just trying to be realistic with my expectations on this season. If they do great and I have to eat crow I’ll be very happy to ask for some BBQ sauce…

Seeing Josh has now allowed 9 runs in the 1st 2 innings & guessing it’s save to say he isn’t going to be the #5.
.
I wonder if the Dodgers could sell him to a team in Japan? Make a few extra bucks so Frank can hire a new limo driver for the year seeing as he lost one to Jamie.
.
Can anyone tell I’m fuming about this whole thing.
.
I’m usually a positive one.

OBF — you bring up a good point.
.
We don’t have a #1 or #5. But we have a great 2-4 and an incredible bunch of BP pitchers! Woo hoooo!!! Were set for the season!!!!!!

I’m just as ticked off as you are, Collie! Josh does suck, Russ Ortiz sucks (I think because he is old, and, you know how Joe feels about elders), but I’ll bet Joe keeps him.

This is the first time this spring that I’m hearing Vin Scully’s voice.
It sure makes things feel better.

Hey there Tru.
.
In terms of Repko, I liked him a lot. But he never did well when he had the opportunity to do so. Dre when given the shot won the job with his performance (Although it did take Joe awhile to realize it). Repko didn’t. He is great as a defensive replacement but he just didn’t produce with the stick in his hands. I just hope he doesn’t go to the Giants. I could see him doing well there & sticking it to the Blue.
.
As Khali said if Ned’s still around in about 7 years he’ll probably sign Repko to a contract as a PVL’er…

I see Towers is doing his best Bombko imitation.

All I can say is, better now than having him make the team and finding out later.

This team is perfectly capable of winning the west.

Its also perfectly capable of finishing fourth.

Please, please, don’t let Ned be around for seven years! I’d love for the McCourts to be forced to sell the team. Hopefully, to an owner who is a true baseball fan.

OLF ~ I had to turn the game off in the second inning…couldn’t take the beating…let me know if we get some runs.

Hi’ya gang!!! Well said Collie with your 8:38 post!!! Beav, I’m with you on the 1st and 4th post. It’s going to be alot closer than last year. I don’t think we have nearly as much wiggle room!!! Unless we’re talking about Jamie!!!

Well I guess it’s good bye to “the reincarnation of Pistol Pete Reiser”, as I liked to call Jason Repko.
The man who lived dangerously between the lines.
I’ll miss him,
Best Wishes.

*I mean OBF, sorry
.
I wish Joe a lot of luck trying to field 11 pitchers. He may really have to be a magician this season.
.
YAY, ANOTHER DAMN SUBMISSION ERROR!!! THIS IS REALLY TICKING ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RALLY TIME!!!!

Time warp check……………………….
8:25 pm (pst)
Submission error :(
8:29 pm (pst)

ITDFST (Inside the Dodgers Future Standard Time – for anybody reading for the first time) is now 51 minutes ahead of PST.

Yes we got a run, TB4, Kemp tripled and Blake doubled.
Another 2 runs Ellis & Hu singed and Redman knocked them in with a double.
The score is 10-3 in the bottom of the 4th
I’m having a lot of page loading problems.

Hey Wally!!

Sad thing is, this team could finish fourth and STILL lead the league in attendance. That in Frankspeak is considered a successful year.

Nellyjune, what I get are “page loading problems'” and it says, “this page isn’t redirecting properly”.

I would like to take this time and thank Josh Towers for pitching his way off the team this evening.

Yep Beav, it is sad. And I fear, it could get alot worse!!!

I think we should have a party in Josh Towers honor. A round of ITD Koolaid for everyone!!! Where is seesky with the flask?

OBF – I don’t get redirected. I just get “submission error due to too many comments in a short period of time by you.” Ummmm……………….. I did one before I got the submission error. I guess it was one too many at the time. I just think of all the late night stuff we used to do and never had a problem until the mlblbogs tried to fix it. I guess the old saying holds true………………why fix something that isn’t broken? It was working fine until they tried to fix it.

Hi’Ya Nelly!!! Ahhh, the good old days!!!

“”Well I guess it’s good bye to “the reincarnation of Pistol Pete Reiser”, as I liked to call Jason Repko.

LOL OBF! that is a good description for Repko!
I will miss him too!
Good luck Reiser…er Repko.

So good to hear Vin!

Hey Jhall!!! It is always good to see you here on ITD!! Watching you and Beav go back and forth is still pretty good.

I just back page and than hit SUBMIT again.
Sometimes I do it about 50-100 times.
Sometimes it last more than a half hour
like this one.

Jeez, scared me a second when I saw Giles name in RF.

:)))

Brooklyn – try unplugging your DSL modem for a few seconds then plug it back in and wait for it to reconnect to the internet. That clears it sometimes.

enchanted – How did your weather end up after this morning?

Love that smile Jhall!!!!

The snow melted off pretty quickly after it stopped. By late afternoon you could hardly tell it even snowed except for the few places where the sun didn’t hit.

I found that sometimes if I come out of ITD, than get back on again, it straightens out.

Well, that’s good enchanted. That means no PG&E issues either………….even better :)

You too Nelly!!! :)))

Let a smile be your umbrella!!! It’s been fun, catch you all later!!! Goodnight and thanks for the conversation and laughs!!! It’s always a nice addition to my day!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nite Wally!!

Good Night Wally!!! Sweet dreams and have a wonderful tomorrow!!!

No PG&E problems, but let’s just say that when dodgereric says the sheriff’s in town and when I say the sheriff’s in town, they mean two totally different things.

It’s almost sounds ridicules to say that overall the Dodger pitching was very good almost fantastic in the 12-4 loss.
But it’s true. Right?

I’m not haven any trouble now, but it comes and goes.
Good night all.

Goodnight Brooklyn! We’ll get ‘em tomorrow.

Good Night OBF!!! Tomorrow they will be home at Dodger Stadium.

Neighbors again? Yuck!!!!

Let’s just say unless we’re having an indian uprising, I don’t think I should have an arrow sticking in the ground 8 feet from my backdoor.

Getting late. Catch you all later.

OMG enchanted!!!! Unbelieveable!!!

Good Night enchanted!!! Take care ~ I will hope the Sheriff is not needed tomorrow :)

An article about our outfield………………………..it’s one of the bright spots for the Dodgers right now. I do look forward to see how they progress (even Manny), and I look forward to seeing how Reed Johnson is used and hoping he does well when given the opportunities to do so.

http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&q=http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news%3Fslug%3Dti-nlwestpreview033010&ct=ga&cad=1:1:0&cd=1DO1nZoIZGs&usg=AFQjCNG9cm5G_l3aayrJWJKJB4NHIs37Vw

Our pitching definitely seems to have it’s issues (more than the usual this season), but maybe our outfield can provide some good balance and hopefully lead the way to another division title. It seems like they (Andre and Matt) are ready for the challenge.

& this tidbit from the Verducci Top 10 for ’10: What I’m most looking forward to this season article:

8. California courtroom drama

In the Bay Area, the Giants and A’s do battle over Oakland’s strategy to relocate to San Jose. In SoCal, the McCourts continue their War of the Roses divorce proceedings, a nasty feud that could lead to someone else owning the Los Angeles Dodgers, but not before the Dodgers — a team stopped short of the World Series twice in a row only because of the mighty Phillies — could see their window slammed shut because of the owner-driven austerity.

Some pretty good observations in the 8:38 post by Collie. Wouldn’t it be interesting to know what Torre really thinks of his starters?

Wow talk about a fast trip to Vegas. I just hope no one lost a tooth! Well I can’t wait for tonights game…..GOOOOO DODGERS!

Hey Josh can you keep us update on where Repko and Gagne end up ?

Hey Rose!
I can’t wait for tonight either!
.
Is a beautiful day for a ballgame for a ballgame tonight! It is quite beautiful today! and I am going to the game tonight! When I left the house at 6:AM it was sprinkling but no more! Nothing but blue skies now! I took the bus/train/bus this morning to work so I will try the new shuttle bus to the stadium out of Union Station! I can’t wait to be at our Lady of Chavez Ravine!

.
Josh! The shuttle is running tonight right?
Emma
http://crzblue.mlblogs.com/

He just out-aged him :)

I just read that Carroll is the starting 2nd baseman. So, just what did he do to outplay DeWitt?

The shuttle indeed starts tonight!
Thanks Josh! you are the greatest!
.
Have a fabulous day everyone!

That would be the Ethier is more valuable off the bench than Pierre rule Tru.

Thanks, Nellyjune and Enchanted :)

Enchanted has a point :)

Tru, maybe it’s an elaborate April Fool’s Day prank. I would certainly like to think so because DeWitt has won the job IMHO.

Sparkleplenty ~ LOL! I think DeWitt has more than earned the job, too.

….but like enchanted eluded to, Andre flat out won the job in left field during spring training of the 2008 season and only an injury (the infamous piano) to JP changed Andre’s fate IMO. So, DeWitt is unfortunately in the same circumstance Andre was in during the 2008 season.

Joe’s statement ~ “DeWitt did everything we asked but turn the double play. Until we see that he can turn the deuce, we have to go with the guy who can handle it. When DeWitt bobbled the easy ground ball yesterday, it just reinforced our position that he isn’t ready to handle the job yet.”

Might as well send DeWitt packing to Albuquerque. Can’t turn double plays sitting on the bench. And whatta bench that will be with Green and Belliard.

Joe’s decision to not go with DeWitt has just proven, without the shadow of a doubt, that he is certifiably senile. Maybe DeWitt should call Juan Pierre and get the recipe for the “man love mojo” so he might be able to get on Joe’s good side. Sheesh!!!!!

I’ll bet he is sent packing, Enchanted. So sad.

If I was DeWitt I’d tell Joe and Ned where they can stick things. He’s done everything asked of him and still doesn’t get a shot. Nice message to send to the other young guys coming up. Can hardly wait for them to extend Joe’s managing contract.

From MLB writer Ben Platt, written 3/31/10:
“MOUND DOMINATION: Dodger starting pitching has been nothing short of spectacular this spring as four of the club?s hurlers appear in the Top-10 among NL Cactus League leaders with Ramon Ortiz (1.15, 1st), Clayton Kershaw (1.69, 5th), Chad Billingsley (1.84, 6th) and Russ Ortiz (2.40, 9th). In addition, right-handers Chad Billinglsey (1.84) and Hiroki Kuroda (2.51) would rank seventh and tenth, respectively, but come up just short of qualifying. In fact, the four rotation mainstays (Kershaw, Billingsley, Kuroda and Vicente Padilla) plus the two Ortiz?s, Charlie Haeger and Carlos Monasterios have combined to go 8-5 with a 2.50 ERA (32 ER/115.1 IP) in 41 games (19 starts). Finally, Ramon Ortiz ranks third with 21 strikeouts and Kershaw is tied for ninth with 17.”
.
Emma
http://crzblue.mlblogs.com

You can move DeWitt around yet for a couple of years, but how often can you lock in a guy like Nick Green on your roster. That’s why we have a guy like Ned always looking around each off-season to latch on to the guys that will really make this team a winner.

Don’t forget that today is April Fools Day.

Do you think we can wait until at least one regular season game is played before we hit the panic button?

Not sure where all this information about DeWitt is coming from regarding whether or not he will start the season as the Dodger’s second baseman but it seems to me the only way to see if he can handle the job is to let him try. It is not his fault he did not get enough double play chances in spring games but I have to believe they hit him a lot of grounders and worked with him all spring. And if he starts the season off good offensively, they might be able to overlook a few errors. I think we will all know soon enough.

Charlie Haeger named 5th starter.

And, now Joe has decided Blake DeWitt is the starting 2nd baseman. I’m getting more and more confused by the minute.

Sparkleplenty ~ LMAO! I’m beginning to think our manager is the one who is senile :)

Tru, it’s that darned senility – you never know :)

It IS Joe that has the problem – sorry if you thought I meant you!

I think it’s happening to me, too :)

lbirken – I am always holding out hope and I am so ready for the regular season to begin. We had the same mixed feelings last spring training, with pitching especially, and we got to the playoffs. I am saying this as I am watching the Padres on mlb’s 30/30 show. Nobody is giving them a chance to get out of the cellar this season, but they just might surprise everyone because nobody is expecting it at all. Anything is possible and nothing is impossible :)

Dang Carroll over Dewitt? Yep it better be an April Fool joke hahaha.
