A sad day for the Dodgers
Willie Davis was truly one of the most talented players ever to wear a Dodger uniform and for those who got to know him, he will undoubtedly be missed.

I had the pleasure of seeing Willie play several times 🙂 We will miss you Willie. My best to the Davis family. In case you missed it on the previous thread, Dodgereric had a fantastic write-up and tribute to him.

Sad to hear about Willie Davis. He was an exciting player and like Bill Buckner, it is too bad he is remembered for one very bad day when he had so many more good days in the major leagues. That 1966 Dodger team marked the end of a successful period in Dodger history from 1962 to 1966 marked by three World Series appearances with two wins and one loss. Of course, it could have been 4 appearances except for the heartbreaking playoff loss to the hated ones up north in 1962.

Although I’ve been a Dodgers fan as long as I can remember (my grandparents probably took me to my first game sometime in the late ’60s), I don’t have any authentic memories of Willie Davis. I do remember that he was a fixture on the team at center field along with other regulars like Willie Crawford and Wes Parker.

Sad to hear about Willie Davis. He was part of the Dodger glory days. I was fortunate to have a great conversation with him about those days a few years ago in Industry CA at Frank & Sons. I also saw him play in person at Dodger Stadium in a World Series game against the Twins in 1965.

I’m really sorry to hear about this. Today is a sad day. My condolences to his family and friends. I never had the pleasure to see him play live. I wish I did. RIP Mr. Davis.
