Jamey Carroll officially on board

Jamey Carroll took his physical today and has passed, making official his signing to a two-year contract. At the winter meetings, several people told me what an amazing guy this is and what a great addition he’d be to the team. It seems he’ll share time with Blake DeWitt at second base, so our next item on the list is clearly starting pitching.

Also on the pitching front, the two players to be named later from the White Sox “arrived” today and they are John Ely and Jon Link. Ely was 14-2 with a 2.82 ERA at Double-A and Link will be on the 40-man roster.

Keep an eye out for Ken Gurnick’s coverage at dodgers.com, as I’m sure he’ll be speaking to Ned later today and can fill you in on the latest thoughts from the GM’s office.

Hey Josh, do me a favor, let Ned know that this Dodger fan would like to see Eric Gagne signed to a minor league contract and invited to spring training. Little to lose and a lot to gain if he’s able to rebound. Beside I think Gagne can teach Broxton how to overcome his mild mannered nature and focus on that killer instinct.

A recap of the expected deal:

The Phillies get Roy Halladay, Phillippe Aumont, Tyson Gillies, Juan Ramirez, and $6MM. The Phillies will give Halladay a three-year extension plus vesting options.
    The Mariners get Cliff Lee.
The Blue Jays get Kyle Drabek, Brett Wallace, and Travis d’Arnaud.
    The A’s get Michael Taylor.

So that was a 4 teams trade. These 4 teams trade don’t make sense. The Phillies should get Halladay and their BJ should be getting prospect for him and I don’t know how the A’s was in this because it looks like they didn’t trade anyone and I guess the Lee part was the Mariners prospect.

Maybe Gagne can teach Broxton how to take steroids, as that is what gave Gagne his “killer” instinct. I can’t believe that the Dodgers are dumpster diving for players. This blows.

For years I wanted us to go with our own (young) players. For years I felt that aside from just talent, the reason we weren’t winning was we did not have a team continuity. Most every dodger now is homegrown and those who aren’t for the most part have been here more than one or two seasons. We really only have one opening and thats goin to a Dodger also been on the roster a few years if it works out at 2b I have faith these guys can win. I have faith in our young pitching staff as well. Do I want an Ace, sure..but some moves are better not made (lackey, trading the world for Halliday or Lee) and at this point I hope we can attain a couple of veterans to fill out the rotation and we should take the west again. Were 2 straight years NLCS and 4 out 5 in the playoffs. Maybe some of you aren’t old enough to know how good that is versus the previous 20 or so years…Don’t let the divorce overshadow how well this young team is coming together. My big issue lies with international scouting and farm replinsishing and of course I think McCourt is a total jerk who is doing nothing right now to do all he can to make sure the Dodgers Win the World Series. Sell the team jerkoff and whoever buys it, let the baseball people stay.,

It’s always good to see you on ITD Jungar. It’s always great to know your perspective. When I first started reading ITD, you, jhall and others held your ground in sticking with the kids, and it’s the reason I kept reading.

  6. Dodger4life

    Good morning everyone…………
    .
Jungar nice post, it’s good to see your insights back here again.
    .
As far as Carroll goes I have no clue as to his game, he seems to be a nice enough guy. We do have a need for a utility infielder, now that Castro is with the Phillies. My problem is that most of us feel DeWitt should be given the shot at second and with the signing of Carroll, there is some doubt to that now. Plenty of spin put on things with this management. You never know what to believe, several weeks ago, it was reported that our owner was short of cash in his personal bank account. However this week it is reported that he spent $700,000 on legal fees in the month of November, I could really care less about him and the missus and their non Dodger life. Although when we read things such as this, it leads me to believe that they will say anything needed to attain their objectives, and that maybe their non Dodger lives are being funnelled through their Dodger lives. As the Dodgers are being ridiculed around the league as being broke and unable to acquire free agents.
It’s hard to be humble, although me personally, I am going to take each day one at a time. Keeping in mind that there are positives to these negatives. There are I am sure as Josh stated in his last post many different aspects to the management of this ball club, many people pour their heart and sole out each and everyday for the blue. Take Vinny, he has to be somewhat disappointed in the circumstances but nonetheless come opening day we will all cherish the words [It’s Time For Dodger Baseball] and he has promised to deliver. Many families rely on this ball club for their support, from employee’s to charities. So that is a good thing that needs to continue, in my opinion. As far as the belief that this is our year…..Why Not!!…..I would like to see less manipulation from the caretakers of the club, and more good old fashioned straight forward leadership, that has solid direction year to year.
    .
I’m not trying to say everyone should be cheerful and happy all the time. Some of the best and most enjoyable moments on this blog are when we display our disgust,
downright hillarious and that can bring a smile….. in a much needed situation. But regardless of what transpires or doesn’t transpire ( SELL THE TEAM FRANK ) this is our ball club…..and this is going to be our year!!!1 For that one brief moment it will seem like all is good in Dodgerland, and for that one brief moment all will be…..
    .
    GO GET EM DODGERS!!
    BRING THE RING IN 2010!!!!
    .
Have a great day today everyone……

Good luck to Jamey Carroll and don’t take any offense to being referred to as a dumpster player. I understand signing a guy like this as insurance in case DeWitt can’t do the job. We all hope he can and if he has a good spring he should be the starting second baseman. He seems to have the right attitude and he will be a fan favorite. I don’t see this as blocking his way; he still has not done enough to convince management he can be an every day player. Andre, Matt and James had to force their way into the lineup and they did. Nothing was given to them and nothing will be given to DeWitt. I think the signing of Carroll is different than the signing of Hudson. Hudson clearly was a proven everyday player that was available at a bargain rate (just what the Dodgers seem to like these days). The Dodgers took a risk and things worked out well, at least for most of the season. Carroll is not that caliber so DeWitt has a much better chance to win the job this season than he did last. I hope he does and he plays well enough to stay there.

  8. jhallwally

Hello gang!!! Fabulous posts lbirkey, D4, and Jungar!!! Carroll is a decent aquisition. If DeWitt falls on his face he will be a good alternative and hopefully, DeWitt takes the bull by the horns and wins the job. Then, Carroll is a good utility player around the infield. It’s dumpster diving, but more like when people are moving and leave a nice sofa by the dumpster. It’s not shot, they just don’t need it. A bit used, but still useful and a nice find if you need a couch!!! LOL!!!

  9. nellyjune

Dodger4life and lbirken – fabulous posts!!! I don’t really know too much about Carroll either, other than he played for the Rox for some time as well. As I recall, he was kind of a back up player for their club as well. The mlbtv guys seemed to be good with the acquisition as well, and not that I agree with everything they say, but at least it wasn’t anything negative, which they seemed happy to admit as well.

As for mlbtv, they debuted a show that is perfect for us stat nuts. It’s called “By The Numbers”, and it’s all about the stats for this sport we love. It will definitely be one of my favorites to watch on there because it’s like the live action version of baseballreference.com………the stat nut’s playground.

  10. jhallwally

I’m OK with signing Carroll. Good insurance if DeWitt fails and a good utility infielder/bench player that we will need anyway if Blake comes thru!!!

  11. jhallwally

Hi’Ya Nelly!!! Thanks!! Doing well my friend. How about you? Thanks for the heads up about the “By The Numbers”. Sounds like something I will enjoy!!!

  12. messagebear@msn.com

While we’re at it, let’s keep a lookout for a used beanbag chair for Ned’s office. I can just visualize something with only a couple of holes patched up with duct tape. Would be very appropriate for him, no?

  13. nellyjune

Doing good Jhall!!! The show is pretty good. It’s definitely the stat keeper’s show. I thought of most of us on ITD, but Ward Dear especially, since he seems to really know the ins and outs of baseballreference.com. Heck, he could host the show with the others, and be the guy with the fan perspective.

  14. jhallwally

Hey Trumom!!! Gotta be careful at garage sales!! Alot of temptation to buy crap you don’t need because it seems like a bargain!! LOL!!!! Like aquariums!!! :))))

  15. jhallwally

Good to hear Nells!! Give Dad my regards. Let him know I miss his insight and would like to see/read him more here!!!

  16. trublu4ever

Jhall ~ I know what you mean about garage sales! I, myself, never go to them. However, when my sister was alive she went every single weekend and accumulated so much s*** that she had nowhere to store it! She would have made some of those people on the program “Hoarders” look like neat freaks.
    .
As for me, I think of my “stuff” as collections, not junk…LOL!

  17. Dodger4life

My ex used to drag me and my truck every Fri and Sat around to garage sales….Then on Sunday she would resale the stuff at the flea market…she did pretty good….I even found some useless stuff for myself.

  18. nellyjune

I sure will Jhall!!! I actually haven’t heard from Ward Dear this week, too much anyway. I do know the week before last he had a leak in his house and he had to replace his hardwood floor in his family room, doing most of it himself of course. However, I will actually see him, Chris and Matt next week sometime. Most of what I hear is through our teenage grapevine 🙂

  19. jhallwally

:))) Tru!!! My uncle is the same way!!! Got half his basement filled with model trains from garage sales and flea markets. He doesn’t even have any track set up to actually run the stuff. LOL!!!

  20. lbirken@aol.com

Actually, instead of a coffee table I would like the Dodgers 1981 season vinyl LP. My son wore out two of them.

  21. nellyjune

My aunt (tru’s sister) did get a whole bunch of baseball cards though (that I have now). They aren’t worth too much, but they could be someday.

  22. jhallwally

LOL D4!!! I know a couple of people that also do that. They do alright, make a little money, and enjoy it. My uncle however, never sold anything. He just kept accumulating!!! Evidently, it made him happy!!!

  23. Dodger4life

It was fun for a while…she always paid for the pizza on Sunday afterwards……I don’t miss it the though…okay maybe the pizza……

  24. northstateblues

Good points, all. More like Garage Saleing than Dumpster Diving on this move. And I think DeWitt has nothing to sweat about, as Carroll might be less of a road block and more of a pit stop, i.e. a capable refresher for infielders and potentially outfielders.

This is the main reason I didn’t fret over DeWitt being blocked once the whispers about Jamey started going around before the deal was made:

    DeWitt: 2 seasons, 148 games, 11 HR
    Carroll: 8 seasons, 786 games, 15 HR

    Also, Carrol’s year/age/team/Games Played/BA/HR numbers:

    2002/28/MON/16/.310/1
    2003/29/MON/105/.260/1
    2004/30/MON/102/.289/0
    2005/31/WSN/113/.251/0
    2006/32/COL/136/.300/5
    2007/33/COL/108/.225/1
    2008/34/CLE/113/.277/4
    2009/35/CLE/93/.276/2
    2010/36/LA/?/?/?

    Compared to Dewitt’s:

    2008/22/LA/117/.264/9
    2009/23/LA/31/.204/2

Make of the numbers what you will. This isn’t Ned’s attempt at getting a Free Agent to be our Starting Second Baseman, more like getting a Free Agent to allow Blake DeWitt the chance to be our starting second baseman.

And I’m glad the Harang talks are “all but dead”. What makes the Carroll a good deal in comparison to what would’ve made the Harang deal not so good is that we’d have to give up a Major League player in order to get Cy Harang, who would essentially be doing what Carroll is projected to be doing: Backing up the maturing core of the Dodgers.

From the TMZ-seeded storm clouds of the divorce debacle to the realization that spending money on starting pitching has rarely worked for the Dodgers, it seems that, if nothing else, we’re going for broke this year, Ring or bust, ownership foibles be damned.

It feels a lot better, as it’s been pointed out around the Dodger blogosphere, when you look at the last 2 years (if not the last 7) instead of the last 22. First time since I learned cursive that the Dodgers have been worth a ____ in October.

The trouble is in getting past being worth a ____ in October to being THE ____ in October.

The California-based Oakland Raiders were blocked from the Super Bowl in the 70’s for two years by the Pennsylvania-based Pittsburgh Steelers. The following year, Oakland broke through, and ending up winning the Super Bowl. Of course, it’s a different sport, and the Raiders’ roadblock won two championships, but just a bit of inspiration.

  25. trublu4ever

My sister was the same way, Jhall….never sold any of the junk. She did have some new and more expensive stuff she was going to sell on Ebay. Whether she ever did or not, I don’t know.

  26. lbirken@aol.com

Isn’t this kind of like the free agent market? GM’s sniff around for stuff they think they need hoping to find a bargain. Every team does it. Then after they get someone they eventually look like a genious or a (fill in the blank). The only thing missing is the obnoxious signs left on telephone poles advertising the sale.

  27. jhallwally

LOL lbirkey!!! Not only the leftover signs on the bottom of the pole, but the accumulation of bird crap on top!!!!

  28. jhallwally

Who cares if our biggest need is new ownership, general management, and a stud starting pitcher!!! We can amuse ourselves!!!! It’s all good gang!!!

  29. Dodger4life

I like bear too..Jhall, He keeps balance, and management on their toes…..of course they say to avoid a bear you should curl up play dead and cover your head

  30. nellyjune

Yahtzee is a good game jhall!!! I haven’t played that in a while. I have been playing Mahjong alot on my computer.

  31. jhallwally

If Nells hits her large straight, I’m going to need a Yahtzee to win!! LOL!! Maybe she won’t get her fives and miss the bonus 35 points!!! Pathetic, but somewhat amusing!!!

  32. nellyjune

    LOL!!!

You sound like me when I play “Hearts” on the computer. My opponents on there are Andre, Matt and James. The problem with that is I never mind either of them winning 🙂

  33. jhallwally

On a lighter note, Nells, are the G’nats going to do anything to improve their offense? If they don’t, I feel, we have the inside track again to the NL West title!!! I’m not too concerned about the Rocks, Puds, and D’Backs!!!! The only thing that makes the G’nats dangerous is that they have the pitching in place. Any thoughts gang!!!

  35. nellyjune

Well, ITD fans, you got your wish………………..enchanted came in on cue just like you wanted. Great song!!!!

  36. nellyjune

Well, the word around their rumor mill, is they would love to have Dan Uggla. They would move Sanchez to 3rd, and Panda would be at first. They could go and get Bay or Holliday too. However, I think the main reason we have heard very little from their camp is because it sounds like Timmy is asking for some good money and depending on what they end of paying him, may have something to do with who they get for a bat.

  37. trublu4ever

Tthe Giants also have a hefty sum tied up in Zito and Rowand….so, who knows how much they really have to spend.

  38. jhallwally

Just a little holiday greeting from our owners. They need to send out one of those cards with pictures of what happened throughout the year and a letter describing it. Now, that would be amusing!!! Don’t you just love getting those?!! Sigh!!!!

  39. jhallwally

Hi’Ya Beav!! Good to see you my brother!!! Yep, Tru, they’ve backed themselves into somewhat of a corner with those contracts!!! At least we have wised up and not fallen into that hole the last couple of years!!!

  40. nellyjune

What tru said is true also. On that show “By the Numbers” they took each position, 1-9, both NL and AL, and they told you what the average stats were for that position. For example, they told you the average short stop in the NL……….from HR, ave, OPS, etc, and found the player that did exactly that. The NL shortstop that was average was none other than our very own Furcal. They said the Dodgers expect him to be above average. Well, the average CFer was Rowand. So, for what they are paying him, being average ain’t going to cut it. It’s a very intriguing show to watch. However, two years ago, I wouldn’t have even known what OPS meant if I hadn’t begun reading this blog. I was the one explaining all the stats to my family. Michael didn’t know what OPS stood for 🙂

  41. nellyjune

Yes, that is true enchanted, but you, for whatever reason, see the songs that write themselves very easily, which is a talent in itself – LOL!!!!!

  42. jhallwally

Well, we’ve got Beav O’Reilly(no spin), Bear/Nancy Grace(In your face reality), and NedCo™(selling us cheap sh*t)!!!

  43. nellyjune

Speaking of Phillies, did you hear that Lee didn’t even know he was being traded? I guess he called his attorney about his contract and five hours later he was traded. He was totally shocked. At least that is what he said………always two sides to every story I am sure.

  44. enchantedbeaver

Like I was telling Nells the other day, can you believe the spin poor Josh has to put out? I mean, we’re dumping payroll and losing players and prestige, but we sure throw a swell party? Hey the house burned down, but we’ve still got a really neat mailbox.

  45. nellyjune

I heard that too tru. I don’t blame them for going after Halladay (it’s who they wanted in the first place), but Lee got them to the World Series and expected to play out his career there, and then to have that happen would really suck. Like the guys on mlbtv said, he won’t make the mistake of not having a “no trade clause” in his contract again.

  46. trublu4ever

Nellyjune ~ everybody complains about the ballplayers but, to me, management treats players poorly. They are the ones who show no respect and a player’s worth to the team.

  47. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Good evening, all!!! With the pickup of Carroll, I see that Ned is shopping at the Auto Zone instead of mlbsalvage.com. At least, management is giving DeWitt a shot to win the job outright. Here’s to hoping that Carroll is a good backup to DeWitt and our other infielders this season. Great post, ibirken!! I wouldn’t shed too many tears for Lee, either. He’ll land on his feet, megadeal in hand, no matter where he ends up. I agree about getting too attached to a team’s current players. I learned that lesson well after Piazza was traded…maybe, after Mark Cuban buys the team, he can buy Ned off and give Ruben Amaro, Jr. a piece of the team to run the D’s. A dream but such a nice one.

  48. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Get ’em now because like JP, they’re going fast!!!

And don’t forget your Belisario M.A.D.D. Mugs too!!!

  50. lbirken@aol.com

Not sure why anyone feels sorry for Lee. His situation is the product of the system his player’s union helped forge and has no desire to change. These guys make a lot of money and there has to be some risk for them as well as the owners. Management historically has treated players poorly which is the reason the player’s union exists. The idea of loyalty is a pipe dream. That is one reason I don’t “fall in love” with specific players too much any more. They are here today and gone tomorrow off to greener pastures or to the next team that will pay them. Can’t say that I blame them. Ownership isn’t much better. A team gives a player a ridiculous contract today and then a couple seasons down the road wants to unload that player to “move salary”. Interesting business model.

  51. lbirken@aol.com

Anyway, sorry for such a negative sounding post when everyone is having such a light hearted good time today. Thanks for the laughs. Have a great evening everyone.

How ironic that is jhall when I spent most of my adult life doing it the other way around…

You can’t keep a good man down Beav!!! Nothing ironic about it. I’d take you in my foxhole when sh*t hits the fan everyday.

  55. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Not bad. My comments about ibirken’s post came up chronologically before he made them. ITDFST is in full swing.

  56. jhallwally

Nah, just some slushy snow. About an inch. Nothing to speak about. Thanks for asking. How’ve ya’been my friend?!!!

  57. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Redirect, my *****!!! Other than the cyberspace gremlins lurking about, I’m doing well, jhall. Glad to see that the snow went through this weekend. I’m going to Michigan Christmas Eve morning. Don’t want to be snowbound somewhere in transit. But, if I do, there’s the airport lounge and the credit card.

  58. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Most of the bowl match ups I’ve seen are pretty ho hum. I mean, Florida State with 6 losses in a major bowl???? If the BCS powers that be had any guts, they would have put Boise State and TCU in separate games. But the BCS schools don’t want to risk getting beat by non-BCS schools like Utah manhandled Alabama last year. Here’s one vote for a playoff system in major college football.

  59. nellyjune

I am with you on that seesky!!! Boise State and/or TCU deserve a shot at the title.

tru – it’s the Criminal Minds, CSI, House, NCIS, and now even Bones Marathons that are addicting.

  60. trublu4ever

LOL, Seesky! Sometimes it takes me 15 minutes to survive the submission errors. I also decided as, Jhall and Enchanted suggested, to restart my computer and it works fine…..for at least a few posts!

  61. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

I haven’t had to reboot. I’ve had a couple of redirects tonight but, other than that, I’ve been posting all right.

  62. trublu4ever

That’s okay. Now, they can concentrate on winning the Super Bowl. No more pressure to be undefeated.. GO SAINTS!!!!

  63. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

That’s exactly what I was thinking, tru. Now they can concentrate on the playoffs. It would be great for the city of New Orleans and the NFL if the Saints could run the table.

  64. trublu4ever

I’m okay with one loss, Dodger4life….better now, than later. But ONLY ONE LOSS!!!! Next stop……SUPER BOWL!!!!

  65. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

My posts have been going back in time most of the night. Maybe this blog has gone through the Looking Glass?????

  66. enchantedbeaver

Little know related story – one of the soldiers – Victor Dunlap, as a result of relations with one of Hooker’s Girls, caught a raging case of the clap. The word soon got out, “Don’t get what Victor Dunlap got”, and poor Victor was ostracized by his unit. Hence ever since then the army has warned its soldiers against coming into contact with VD.

  67. trublu4ever

    Useless Trivia for today:
Hookers got their title during the Civil War, when General Joseph Hooker, of the Union Army, trying to boost morale by allowing prostitutes to access his troops. Quickly dubbed “Hooker’s Girls”, the prostitutes shortened their name to hookers. The term stuck.

  68. messagebear@msn.com

I had heard that explanation about the origin of hookers, enchanted. Just wondering whether history will establish similar nomenclature for special White House visitors as Bills, but that may already be recognized by a different MONICker. The really private high class ones (and certain porn stars) may become known as Tigers.

  69. enchantedbeaver

Fastforward that 145 years and Ned has expanded that mandate into not coming into contact any CCs or AJs also, though he did get saddled with a JP for quite awhile and as a result, is still paying for it.

  70. cpompe1

Good afternoon ITD boys and girls!
Yeah, a long time! I’ve just been SOOO busy these days! Hey, at your leisure, but when you get a chance, take a look at my new website: http://www.cpbookkeepingservice.com. I’d appreciate a word about how you like it! And be blunt (I don’t think anyone here on ITD would have any problems about being blunt!) 🙂 And since I am not on ITD near as much as I used to be, you can e-mail me at cpompe@sbcglobal.net and let me know what you think!

Okay, sorry for the cheap plug; onto the business of this blog! Like I said before, I didn’t think we’d be able to sign any FAs of note. I was actually surprised that Jamey Carroll did sign. I think Blake DeWitt will work is tail off (not that he hasn’t already) to earn the starting 2B job. Personally, I think he has it; Jamey will just spell him at times, like Torre likes to do. But with Jamey’s versatility, I think that’ll help a great deal. I mean, he’s a lot more versatile than Mark Loretta will ever be. In the end, I think it’ll help.

And as for JP being traded, I honestly didn’t think anyone wanted to take on his contract and, well, the Chisox didn’t exactly take on his contract, so there. At least JP will be able to play everyday – or at least a lot more than he played here. Now Repko or Paul or, if he makes the club, Lambo will need need to step up as Manny’s backup. I never like to see a kid (although I don’t consider Repko a kid anymore) backing up a vet, but after 2010, Manny will not be our problem any more. I don’t think Ned would WANT Manny back after 2010.

So how are my ITD friends today? 🙂

  71. nellyjune

Hey CP!!! I just got through and haven’t looked at your website yet, but I will. Other than being busy, how’s everything?

  72. cpompe1

    My Nellygirl!
I’m fine. It’s just nice to FINALLY feel productive again! Not that I was ever really feeling “bad” about things, but these days I am definitely looking forward to this new venture! It’s a nice feeling! And you know what? My husband, of all people, suggested this. Remember when you and everyone under the ITD sun (and elsewhere) have asked me to be on FB, well, I very well might be. Not right away, but it may happen. Right now, I’ve still got “higher” priorities, but that is something that may very well be coming down the pipe. So, I’ll let you know! What’s the saying, “Can I be your friend?” 🙂

  73. cpompe1

Thx Trumom! I know I’ve been resisting it for a long time, but it’ll happen – eventually! 🙂

Well, I know this was a short visit, but I’ve got some cooking to do for my church’s Women’s Ministry Christmas Party tonight! By all!!! See ya around!!!

  74. nellyjune

Well, the website looks great to me CP!!!! I am not computer literate enough to give you any pointers on web designs, but I am sure somebody in our ITD family can give you some insight if they feel it’s necessary.

Funny Dodger Blues blog has a clock ticking, counting the moment since the Dodgers’ last meaningful moment. As of right now: 21 years, 57 days, 1 hour, 12 minutes, 29 seconds…and counting. December used to be a time to ponder the Dodgers’ recent acquisitions. Times change………………………….

  84. dodger4life2

Alright…before I pick a fight with Bowa…and get you know blood on something????………I just want say, this ballclub can win….and win big!!!!

  88. kpookiemon

Dodger4life, it appears you’re having way too much fun. As long as you’re toasting players, allow me to tip my cap to a couple guys who will run through a wall for this team: Blake DeWitt and Jason Repko. I don’t care what anybody says about Repko. I love this guy.

  89. dodger4life2

I tosted DeWitt…..Don’t know a whole lot about Repko, other than it is said he bombs left handed pitching and would be a good alternetive to Andre, in certain situations
    .
And if that will help the ball club I’m all for it!!!

  90. dodger4life2

Bowa!!! If you dont give the kid a fair chance……I’ll be all over your A** And you’ll have your hand’s full buddy!!!!
    .
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  91. dodger4life2

Alright it’s time to toast Torre……..Time to lean on the rail.. I will say that even know he isn’t from the mold of Tommy… or Walter … He does get the Boy’s attention and respect, and as long as they buy into that whats the harm, and it ain’t a bad thing to have a little positive vibe going your way….and Joe he brings that…..it’s up to the Boys to make the best what he gives them!!!!!! …..And positive vibes ha e wn Chamopionships in L.A,before!!!! Believe In the Magic!!!! IT LIVE’S!!!!

  92. nedajerk

I’ll toast Torre with you! As for Repko, former #1 pick as a shortstop–so you KNOW the guy can play–I’ll toast him again. And I’ll join in your toast to all in ITD land. And to all you Dallas Cowboy haters out there, I’ll toast my favorite team since the 1967 “Frostbite” Bowl. And I’ll toast to better days for the struggling UCLA basketball lads…and I’ll toast the reborn L.A. Kings…and I’ll toast you, Dodger4life, for your unwavering faith in Dodger Blue, easily my favorite team on planet Earth.

I SAW JAMIE DISSIN’ FRANK THE BOSS
    .
I saw Jamie dissin? Frank The Boss
Underneath the cheap seats late last night.
She told him you?re a creep
    Dig in your pockets deep
Wipe your brow, don?t look now
I?ll get you when you?re fast asleep
    .
Then I saw Jamie tickle Jeff?s faux pas
    Poppin Fresh?s hot-crossed buns tonight.
Oh what a lark it all has been
While both just chase the green.
Jamie dissin? Frank The Boss last night.

What can I say? – I’m in a festive mood.

    UP IN THE BOOTH
    .
Up in the booth Vin Scully pause
Frank in the office hems and haws
Down in the dumpster with lots of joy
Ned finds a hasbeen washed-up boy
    .
Blow blow blow our Jamie goes
Ho Ho Ho that we know-o
    In Nicaragua click click click
Sounds like Padilla?s leg got nickt.
    .
First comes the stocking of right field ?Dre
Looks like Frank will have to pay
Give him 6 milly then start to cry
Here come 8 more arbitration guys.
    .
Joe Joe Joe, won?t you go?
    Joe Joe Joe, take NedCo.
Down in the dugout pick pick pick
Clean out your nose now and make us sick.
    .
Looks at the stocking of Fanatic Phil,
Halladay who really throws the pill.
Here are some guys though to fill the cracks,
But a real GM is what we lack.
    .
Doh doh doh watch Frank go
Doh doh doh we?ve sunk low-o
In the front office stick stick stick
Our collective feet up Frank?sass quick.

Boy, I guess you are in a festive mood!!!! I have to admit, since I have been singing these songs non-stop for the last three weeks at school, you have really put a whole other spin to these songs. Remarkable really 🙂

  97. enchantedbeaver

    OK, one more.

    WE’RE GETTIN’ NUTTIN’ FOR CHRISTMAS
    .
Ned broke the bank on sinking lead.
    Somebody bitched like me.
The doughboy found in Jamie?s bed.
    Somebody bitched like me.
Ned wastes some ink on creepy slugs.
    Tommy still gives people hugs.
Wish that Frank would eat a bug.
    Somebody bitched like me.
    .
Oh, we?re gettin? nuttin? for Christmas.
    Fankie and Jamie are mad.
    We?re gettin? nuttin? for Christmas.
    Cuz our organization?s just sad.
    .
We got a hack in left field there.
    Somebody bitched like me.
All Joe does is lean and stare.
    Somebody bitched like me.
Jeff did a dance in Jamie?s pants
Frank found out and did a rant
And now we don?t stand no chance.
    Somebody bitched like me.
    .
So, we?re gettin? nuttin? for Christmas.
    Fankie and Jamie are mad.
    We?re gettin? nuttin? for Christmas.
    Cuz our organization?s just sad.
    .
    We won?t be seeing Halladay.
    Somebody bitched like me.
We won?t be signing Jason Bay.
    Somebody bitched like me.
    Next year I won?t hesitate.
Next year I will tell Frank straight.
Sell the team ?fore its too late.
    Somebody bitched like me.
    .
    So because of Mrs. Shrew.
All us fans they?re gonna screw…
    We get nuttin? for Christmas.

I love the Christmas gift to season ticket holders! The seats are adorable! I love the prior ones too. My friend Erik texted me that he loves his in the form of the benches in the pavilion. They are both so cute! Good job to the designers!

Yes, I remember quite well when Ramirez actually mattered. I also remember telling everyone to enjoy Manny while he really mattered because there was no way what we saw in him in 2008 would ever happen in 2009. I certainly did not expect such a huge drop off and to me it is no conincidence that his production tailed after the self imposed vacation Manny took last season. However, I suspect that the fans will have much less patience for Manny this coming season if he gets off to a slow start and cannot catch up the pitches he used to crush. The question is, what will management do if that happens?
