Following Tommy…
If you’re not already keeping tabs on Mr. Lasorda, it’s definitely an entertaining thing to do. The man goes everywhere, knows everyone, and doesn’t sit still for more than a few minutes.

Tommy, is to this day, one of my all time favorite people. He really does bleed Dodger Blue and I miss that in the current atmosphere of the Dodger Organization.
I don’t think any of us could keep up with Tommy!
Thanks for the link, Josh. My favorite of Tommy’s posts:
# I spoke at a luncheon hosted by the LA Times today, and by doing so I did more for the Times than Plaschke has all year.
4:05 PM Nov 17th from web
I’d agree with that statment 100%, Northstateblues!
Agree on Blake DeWitt…I want to see him play. And given the sorry state of ownership, he probably WILL play because he’ll come cheap. Hell, any way is fine with me. As enchanted said, the old new mantra is reborn. PLAY THE KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I see other teams are going out and getting players they want and need.
*
I’d rather have Hudson back, but since that is not going to happen, why not go with DeWitt? He did well enough there before.
I know talk is talk, and we certainly saw alot of that last year, but it’s funny how last year Andre was talked about in trades because he was viewed by some as expendable. Now, he is in the same discussions but because he is (or one of) the Dodgers’ best bargaining chips. What a difference a year makes.
Bombko, and Lurch, and Ohlman, oh my!!! We’re off to see the WizNed!!!!
We wish to welcome you to dumpster land!!!!
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/12/dodgers-in-discussions-with-luis-ayala.html
Need I say anything more!!! C’mon, is the best we can do?
Wow!!! I am still on PST and not on ITDFST
Jhall – It’s the Buckeyes and the Ducks in the Rose Bowl
So, is Jamie the Wicked Witch of the West?
In Dumpster Land and with WizNed in charge, I guess that is the best we can do, Jhall! lol
Unfortunately Tru, we have the Lollipop Guild running our show!!!
Yep, just play the kids!!! Don’t waste the time and money on the dumpster.
I sure wish Beav would show up with the flying monkeys about now!! LOL!!! Oh no, there here!! The Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels!!!! They swoop down and get the best players!!! Oh My!!!
LOL….Lollipop Guild really fits! I agree J.P.T.K.!!!! (just play the kids).
On behalf of the Lollipop Guild, we wish to welcome you to parking land!!!
Wow, you are on a roll tonight, Jhall! You are Beav, Ward and June all rolled into one! And, how can I forget, Wally!
LOL Tru!!! It’s not hard when the owners and GM are a farce!!! You just go with it!!!
Praise Dodger Blue…34-year-old Scutaro signs with Red Sox…another PVL off the board.
Well, that is good news Kahli.
Well, I am finally back on ITDFST- thank goodness. This mind reading was giving me a headache 🙂
I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 30 MINUTES TO GET A POST ON HERE AND ONCE AGAIN…..SUBMISSION ERROR OR SERVER ERROR!!! THIS IS REALLY PISSSING ME OFF!!!!
Goodnight and Excelsior True Believers!!! Catch you all down the road!!!!! Have a great evening/night!!!
I haven’t had submission errors yet today, but I have been having time warp issues all day.
Good Night Jhall!!!! You did good tonight Wally!!!! Have a Fantastic Friday!!!!! Take Care and God Bless 🙂
Hide the children…Ned has begun possible re-stocking of the pitching garbage bin:
“The Dodgers are in discussions with free-agent reliever Luis Ayala about a minor-league deal, according to a source with knowledge of the talks who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Ayala, who turns 32 next month, was 1-5 with a 5.62 earned-run average for the Twins and Marlins this year. The right-hander had a rough year, as he was released by the Twins in July and designated for assignment by the Marlins in August.”
Do you see the latest on the homepage? You are right Kahli……………….hide the kids please!!!!
http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20091203&content_id=7751356&vkey=news_la&fext=.jsp&c_id=la
Most of that article isn’t so bad. It’s what we already know. It’s the pitching issue that seems shakey………….a Randy Wolf – Like Bargain, and a JP swap. We are the Los Angeles Dodgers for Heaven’s Sake. We are supposed to be at least acting like a big market team. Well, this could get real interesting to see what actually happens. I just wish it was happening to a different team.
Enchanted – so very true. We are watching Frank and Ned’s version of “Let’s make a Deal!!!”………… “Let’s Make a Cheap PVL Deal”.
Uh oh!!! I am time warping back to PST again.
We’re not the Los Angeles Dodgers anymore Nells. We’re the friggin Boston Hillbillies.
I posted that Ayala site 6 hrs ago.
Santana (Martin could be trade bait for Halladay)
Loney
Gordon
DeJesus (should had been ready ready for 2011 than we could try to trade Furcal but the injury kill him)
Bell (Oh I wish we still had him so give that job to Dewitt since he was jerk around this year)
Jones/Hoffman/Paul
Kemp
Ethier
Halladay
Kershaw
Bills
Wolf (if he does come back)
Kuroda/Weaver/Stults
Oh wait I forgot no Santana moved on ahead here nothing to see here lol.
Good Morning ITDland ~ I see by our Home Page that we are looking for help in the back of our rotation. Funny, I didn’t know we had a front end rotation!
Come and listen to a story
’bout a man named Frank.
A parking lot attendant
And a wife that was a skan*.
He was out one day
looking like a tool,
and that’s when Murdoch
knew he found him a fool.
.
Leveraged man
Wannabe
.
Well, the next thing we hearz
that Frank’s a billionaire.
Joe sits in the dugout
and doesn’t have a care.
But we can’t get no pitching
and money is the hitch.
Cuz unbeknownst to Frank,
he married him a bitc*.
.
Swimmin’ pools.
Lux’ry cars.
[cue the banjo]
Starring:
Frank McCourt as Jed Clampett
Jamie McCourt as Ellie May
Joe Torre as Granny
Ned Colletti (who else?) as Jethro
Kim Ng as Miss Hathaway
and Dennis Mannion as Mr. Drysdale
nelly, here’s my favorite part from the homepage article:
“If the Dodgers completely whiff on adding a veteran (second baseman), they seem prepared to let DeWitt sink or swim, but they’d rather add a veteran.”
Please substitute the words “Joe Torre” in place of the word “they.” Torre is scared to death of kids. He’s a PVL guy all the way. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Pretty dang tootin’ good, enchanted! Now I ain’t exactly a Hillbilly aficionado (more of an Andy and Opie guy) but tarnations, Ellie is Jed’s daughter, fer cryin’ out loud…are you implying Frank and Jamie is, whatcha call it, a couple of them thar incest types? I mean, hell, y’all might be on to something. Guess they have been bu**-fu**ing the fans fer a while now, huh?
LMAO!!!!! Oh enchanted – Your mind works in such mysterious ways.
Kahli – You would think Kemp and Ethier are proof “them” if you give the kids a chance, they will perform for you, but “they” don’t see it that way obviously.
Absoluutely brilliant, Dodgereric! AWSOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!!!
*AWESOME
PLEASE FIX THUS DAMN TIME WARP!!!!!!!!!
*THIS
“But we can’t get no pitching
and money is the hitch.
Cuz unbeknownst to Frank,
he married him a bitc*.”
LMAO!!! Classic enchanted! Bravo!
A belated “Bravo” to all of our songwriters! I’ve been a little negligent about posting the songs onto our site, but I’ve had a slow moment here and they’re all in there now. Five hundred sixty six of ’em and still rollin’!
Just a quickie that I’ve been working on for a while, and then I’ve got to get back to the salt mines.
The Seven Stages of Dodger Fan Grief
1. SHOCK & DENIAL-
You will probably react to learning of the reality of your horrid owners with numbed disbelief. You may deny the reality of the loss at some level, in order to avoid the pain. Shock provides emotional protection from being overwhelmed all at once. This may last for weeks.
2. PAIN & GUILT-
As the shock of realization that we are a second-tier team (despite leading MLB in attendance) wears off, it is replaced with the suffering of unbelievable pain. Although excruciating and almost unbearable, it is important that you experience the pain fully, and not hide it, avoid it or escape from it with alcohol or drugs.
You may have guilty feelings or remorse over things you did or didn’t do, such as writing more letters to The Times or walking in front of the parking lot gates with protest signs. Life feels chaotic and scary during this phase.
3. ANGER & BARGAINING-
Frustration gives way to anger, and you may lash out and lay unwarranted blame on someone else, i.e; the media, a former owner, your spouse. Please try to control this, as permanent damage to your relationships may result. This is a time for the release of bottled up emotion.
You may rail against fate, questioning “Why me?” You may also try to bargain in vain with the powers that be for a way out of your despair (“I will never drink again if you just bring O’Malley back”)
4. “DEPRESSION”, REFLECTION, LONELINESS-
Just when your friends may think you should be getting on with your life, a long period of sad reflection will likely overtake you. This is a normal stage of grief, so do not be “talked out of it” by well-meaning outsiders. Encouragement from others is not helpful to you during this stage of grieving, but posting occasional bi*ches on ITD can be helpful.
During this time, you finally realize the true magnitude of your loss, and it depresses you. You may isolate yourself on purpose, reflect on things you did with your lost one, and focus on memories of the past. You may sense feelings of emptiness or despair. Realization that you are not alone can help fight off this depression. Just reading ITD and not posting is OK.
5. THE UPWARD TURN-
As you start to adjust to life without decent leadership or starting pitching, your life becomes a little calmer and more organized. Your physical symptoms lessen, and your “depression” begins to lift slightly. This feeling will most likely surface around the beginning of February.
6. RECONSTRUCTION & WORKING THROUGH-
As you become more functional, your mind starts working again, and you will find yourself seeking realistic solutions to problems posed by the impeding season. You will start to work on how you would solve the practical and financial roster problems and reconstructing the team if only a miracle would happen and your beaneating owners left town.
7. ACCEPTANCE & HOPE-
During this, the last of the seven stages in this grief model, you learn to accept and deal with the reality of your situation. Acceptance does not necessarily mean instant happiness. Given the pain and turmoil you have experienced, you can never return to the carefree, untroubled YOU that existed before this tragedy. But you will find a way forward.
You will start to look forward and actually plan things for the future. Eventually, you will be able to think about your own life without pain; sadness, yes, but the wrenching pain will be gone. You will once again anticipate some good times to come, and yes, even find joy again in the experience of watching the Dodgers. You just have to mute the TV when McCourt is interviewed.
Wow Dodgereric!!!!! When you speak, you speak well!!!!
Thanks tru and Junie. Unfortunately I think I’m only in Stage 3.
And I suppose the time warp just isn’t important enough to fix. I can’t believe it’s that difficult. It’s just a clock.
I would think most fans are in stage 3. It’s just some are angrier than others. Then there are some who are slowly creeping into stage 4.
11:06 PST, as opposed to 11:36 ITDFST
Uh oh, it’s creeped up another couple of minutes.
11:08 PST
I think I’m creeping into Stage 4!
I was really talking about ITD (and the like), both readers and writers, when I was referring to most fans. We, along with other blogs, are a little more intuned to the off-season theatrics than most. I would think the casual fan probably doesn’t even know what is going on, or won’t know, until it gets closer to Opening Day.
The quote I found funny in that article about getting pitching is, “They’ve succeeded in unearthing a Randy Wolf-like bargain each year to fill a back-end-of-the-rotation role,…”
.
I thought last year Wolf was signed as a Front End Guy??
.
The Dodgers need to improve just to GET to the WS.
.
So how is going with the same thing as last year going to get them there? The Phils weren’t just lucky to beat us. They had better pitching and it was obvious.
.
They need a #1 now or this year will be a waste.
Good afternoon folk’s…………..
.
Eric, outstanding….
.
It make thing of this song
.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2sKH8yjVsM&feature=related
.
Which got me thinking so …………….Here is #567
.
Sunshine, Short Hops and JP?s Rainbows
.
.
Sunshine, short hops, and JP?s rainbows
Everything that?s catch able, makes me sigh, when your in center
Makes me clamor, F***ing Neddy
When your near the ITD cool aid disappears, Ahhh!!
As it makes me numb, watching runners run on you
.
My life is sunshine, short hops and JP?s rainbows
That?s how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody
.
Sunshine, short hops and JP?s rainbows
Everything that comes his way is sure to ruin our day
When Juanpy is in the game to play
.
Sunshine, short hops, and JP?s rainbows
Everything that?s catch able, makes me sigh, when your in center
Makes me clamor, F***ing Neddy
When your near the ITD cool aid disappears, Ahhh!!
As it makes me numb, watching runners run on you
.
My life is sunshine, short hops and JP?s rainbows
That?s how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody
.
Sunshine, short hops and JP?s rainbows
Everything that comes his way is sure to ruin our day
.
Cause Joe?s in love, Joe?s in love
And Neddy can?t trade JP away
* Red Pen…It made me think of this song…..
Woo-hoo……….great job, Dodger4life!!
And all of her critters!
Oops, time warped you again, Enchanted!
Nice one D4!! …and good stuff Eric!!
Kahli – didn’t think of that aspect. I figured Jamie’s EllieMay because of her affinity for C-ment ponds.
Hey, just when I thought all was lost for next season, I see we just pulled the BIG COUP and signed Justin Miller. Apparently took him right away from the Giants. Talk about improving the team! Now if things get really boring during the season, at least the guys can sit around and discuss his tattoos.
