100,000 fans

Pretty cool that our facebook page has topped 100,000 fans. Are you one of them? We should be in the millions if you think about how many people out there bleed Dodger blue.

Out on the field today, Kershaw through a simulated game and Joe Torre told the media he’ll throw a bullpen on Sunday. According to Joe, he looked good and if he comes out of the bullpen session well, he’ll pitch out of the bullpen in Washington, then take it from there. Chad Billingsley will start Wednesday in Washington and could be used tonight out of the ‘pen, if we needed.

Also, Steve Lyons weighs in on Jonathan Broxton over at Psychollingy.

Meanwhile, the regulars are back in! Glad I could stir up some debate yesterday and that we won while resting the regular crew…

Here’s tonight’s lineup:

Furcal, SS

Martin, C

Ethier, RF

Manny, LF

Kemp, CF

Blake, 3B

Loney, 1B

Hudson, 2B

Padilla, P

Stop the madness!!!!!!!! Why should Martin bat 2nd? I don’t want stats I want rational reasons. If the game comes down to one extra at-bat, who wants Martin to take it over Kemp or Ethier? Get those hands up high so I can count the lunatics.

  2. Dodger4life

Good Evevning ITD, Dodger faithful and Our Beloved Boy’s in Blue……
    .
Well I made a bet on the series today…..When the Dodgers win. I will be enjoying a Baskin Robbins banana split, courtesy of one disapointed Giant fan, with a big smile, and whipped cream all over my face………:-)
    .
    LET’S GO DODGERS, LET’S GO !!!!!!
    BEAT THE GIANT’S!!!!!!
BRING THE RING TO L.A. IN 2009!!!!
    .
    Enjoy the game everyone…..

  3. shad80

Look who has the best pitching this month considering that the 2nd team has 1 fewer game and 10.1 innings less but the Giants are allowing a baa of .211 and that’s first but they do have 60 walks and we have walks only 39 and that hard to believe when we had Bills/Kershaw ranked in the top 5 in walks. The Dodgers pitchers issued 2.6 walks a games this month while the Giants pitchers issue 4 walks a games and with the 21 fewer walks we now have a total of 527 walks to the Giants 526. The Giants had a huge lead over us in this category but not anymore. To bad espn.com won’t show the Starting Pitchers ERA and Relievers ERA this month but they do have it in the total.

  4. shad80

Let’s make Sanchez 0-4 and no you not braindead Kahil. I really think Kemp in the 2nd hole is a waste and I’d think he should protect Manny all season long.

  5. shad80

I think it silly to have a power guy in that lead off spot but if Furcal is not going to run than we have no chance on batting Kemp in that spot.

  6. shad80

I know kahli that why I said you’re not braindead I think everyone on this board agree with you and they should get as many AB’s. I wondering that the Nats did the same thing with Soriano having him bat lead off with over 40+ homeruns.

  7. kpookiemon

Here is my very un-genius batting order:
Kemp (.300 hitter and the only guy who runs these days)
    Ethier
    Manny
    Loney
    Blake
Furcal (this guy is trying TOO hard in the one hole)
    Hudson
    Martin
I know many will think I’m brain dead…oh well.

  8. shad80

I wonder if Martin was putting up the same numbers he had 2 years ago I wonder if anyone probably would had change his mind. Of course people would probably change their mind if Martin wasn’t putting up awful number this year. If anyone shouldn’t be near the top is Furcal and his awful obp.

  9. kpookiemon

shad, I want Kemp, Ethier and Manny getting as many ABs as possible, stats be damned… No pitcher in the league wants to face those three guys right from the get-go.

  10. messagebear@msn.com

I agree with you, kahli. Martin shouldn’t be anywhere near the top of the order, but then again I’m reminded how things work here by the following quote from Josh our communications executive, “my faith is in the guy with four World Series rings and more wins than all but four other managers in baseball history! He’s got our team leading the NL in victories, which must mean something, right?”

How can you argue with that?
Especially when the team management has one IDIOT after another. It’s just great that in spite of it all we have some great players.

  11. kpookiemon

I forgot about the genius, messagebear. But since 2001, genius has one LESS world championship than Bob Brenly, Ozzie Guillen, and Charlie Manuel…Hall-of-Fame managers all………?!?!?!?!?

  12. thescrounger@gmail.com

It’s rotten being old! Old enough to remember being taught that correctly spelling words you wrote was important, especially to a professional. I am disappointed in the writer of today’s post.

  13. bluecrewgirl

Are you talking about Psychollingy, thescrounger? If so, it’s the blog of Steve Lyons and Eric Collins, which is a combination of Steve’s nickname, Psycho, and Collins’ last name. It’s not supposed to be Psychology.

  14. messagebear@msn.com

Actually the misspelling is when Josh stated that “Kershaw through a simulated game”, which clearly should have been “threw a simulated game”. I’m assuming that he probably dictated that into one of those voice to script conversion programs and then didn’t proof-read it and correct it. I think even he knows the difference in meaning between “through” and “threw”, eben though I don’t give him credit for much else.

  15. nellyjune

Josh – Obviously, most of us could care less about a spelling error hear or their. Most of us are just thankful ewe let us bee us, witch I no is know easy task. We can bee quite the handful at times.

  16. nellyjune

GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!! We can overcome this. It’s early, there is alot of game left, and we have Andre, the walk-off wizard.

  17. shad80

lol first homerun for him since Aug 29 which make me sick. He got more rbi’s this game then he had all this month with 2.

  18. trublu4ever

Nellyjune ~ Ewe have a way wit words. Luv what ewe have to say all de time. We r a grate group of people who have lots two say.

  19. bluecrewgirl

Lol, Nelly. I was happy to see Andre in the lineup tonight against Sanchez. That’s the least Joe can do after the walk off against a lefty the other night.

  20. shad80

I’ll bet another banana split that Sanchez doesn’t throw a one hitter or equivelent.

    By Dodger4life on September 18, 2009 6:05 PM

Well so far he’s doing it but we better come back.

  21. nellyjune

bluecrewgirl – Andre is IT right now, and the entire league is starting to take notice. It is a real nice feeling to know we were behind him through all of this to see him finally……….finally get the recognition we knew he would get if just given the chance.

  22. nellyjune

Alright Manny and Dre!!! Now, it’s time for the other have of the Dynamic Duo to get it going – Let’s go Matthew!!!!!

  23. bluecrewgirl

Mandre getting the job done tonight! I could be wrong, but it kind of seems like the way that Andre and Matt have been doing such a fantastic job has taken a bit of the pressure off of Manny and he seems much more relaxed at the plate lately. He did that for them last year and they’re returning the favor.

  24. nellyjune

tru – why point out the one frickin’ word he has misspelled all year, and I mean year because we are on here even in the off-season.

  25. bluecrewgirl

On the commercial running on Primeticket tonight advertising the series, they are saying Andre Ethier and the Dodgers take on the Giants, not Manny and the Dodgers. Quite a well-deserved compliment to Andre.

  26. jhallwally

Hello Gang!! Great point/comment BleuFille’. I’m glad to hear that JoJo and our Dodgers are thinking about finishing with the best record in the NL and getting home field throughout the playoffs. Some articles a week or so ago left me wondering!!!

  27. bluecrewgirl

Hey, jhall, great to see you! The pitching is not looking too stellar tonight. Hopefully, they have some more runs in them.

  28. Dodger4life

I just upgraded my ice cream bet to some homeade place 45 minutes away……
    .
    COME ON BOY’S!!!!! RALLY TIME!!!!!!

  29. trublu4ever

Please make this time warp stop! I want to say hi to Jhall and I can’t because it is appearing 15 minutes ahead of you guys.

  30. nellyjune

bluecrewgirl – That must have been great to hear. You are right. That is a wonderful compliment to Andre.

jhall – I have been busy, but I (we) are doing great!!!!!!!!

  31. kpookiemon

6 runs to the tse-tse flies from the Bay. Puke. I’d like to see the Dodgers’ record following days off…which I’m sure someone will find!

  32. bluecrewgirl

D-Backs are leading the Rockies 7-4. If they can find a way to pull this game out, they’ll gain a game on both the Giants and Rockies.

  33. nellyjune

Kahli – I was willing to find it for you, but you found it yourself. Just from thinking back, it never seemed like we did so well after a day off.

  34. kpookiemon

Geez, Joe, you are one stubborn animal. Martin was sorta, kinda, maybe, somewhat, almost getting his act together…batting DOWN in the order. One good series and he’s back clogging up things, like a senior driver in the fast lane. 1 for 9 in the two-hole his last two games.

  35. jhallwally

Hi’Ya Trumom. You are, evidently, ahead of your time. Always makes my day when you are in the house. Let’s get some runs…. Nelly, glad to hear it!!

  36. jhallwally

Hate to bag out early but I have an early morning and a long day tomorrow. Hope I wake up to a sweet comeback win. Great seeing/reading you all. Have a great night and I will catch you all down the road.. Excelsior True Believers!!!!!

  37. nellyjune

Good Night jhall/Wally!!! Have fun with whatever you are doing tomorrow, if it calls for fun anyway. It was great seeing/reading you. Take Care and God Bless 🙂

  38. bluecrewgirl

Goodnight, jhall. I really hate to see Bills struggling like he has been since the All Star break. I hope he gets it figured out soon.

  39. bluecrewgirl

I kind of don’t get why they traded for Thome to use him as a pinch hitter. He’s had a great career, but he has a terrible lifetime batting average as a pinch hitter, barely over .200. I would rather have seen O-Dog bat in that situation.

  40. shad80

I’m sorry Thome is not a PH and Thome facing a left handed is death but they can be the same way to Ethier when he can hit them.

  41. nellyjune

I feel so very bad for Billz right now. He has just seemed to have lost it for the time being, with no sign of it getting better. For his sake, I hope he figures it out.

BTW – My theory still holds. We are watching the game on MLB Mix, and the Dodgers are losing. Granted, we haven’t lost yet, but it’s not looking too good right now.

  42. yoshino02

BILLS is like a marshmallow..no balls or guts to overcome his pirching slump…overall he STINKS big time and really he is done as a DODGER!!!

  43. nellyjune

They will get the series. The good thing is we didn’t lose any ground to the Rox, and these types of games usually kick them in gear. I am thinking the Dynamic Duo and Manny will play tomorrow. Therefore, a chance to get into Penny’s head pretty good since Manny wasn’t in the lineup last time we played against Penny up in SF.

  44. shad80

Wow Rivera is great but blew his 2nd games this year and his last one was on Apr 24. He had something like 35 straight saves but to bad that string had to end when he gave up a 2 outs double follow by an Ichiro game winning homerun after Rivera striking out the first 2 hitters in the 9th. I guess Rivera is human after all.

News: Rivera blew his second save of the season Friday courtesy of an Ichiro Suzuki walk-off home run, allowing Felix Hernandez and the Mariners to beat the Yankees 3-2.
Spin: Believe it or not (okay, with Mariano, this is believable), Rivera had allowed just one run since June 12 prior to Friday. We think he’ll be fine going forward.

  45. knouffbrock@frontiernet.net

Well, at least the pitchers were bad all at once, Belasario being the exception. I was hoping Billz would not get booed, but read this morning he had, and he is still trying to figure something out. ?????? All he needs to figure out is how to get the ball DOWN. He’s leaving it out over the plate. I don’t see how he can be in the rotation for the playoffs if this continues.
Signs of Furcal and Manny waking up. We’re going to need them in a couple of weeks.
    *
Good article in the Times this morning about the game in ’59 where Mays hit one off the foul pole and Sam Jones lost a no-hitter. I remember Vinny’s description of the argument as being particularly good.
    *
You know, Billz’ stuff is just too good to give up on yet. You’ve got to wonder what is going on between his ears, but it is much too early to give up on him.

  46. messagebear@msn.com

Billz is a puzzlement, and NO, I wouldn’t give up on him. But, there is certainly a problem that Honeycut obviously isn’t equipped to solve. At this rate you wouldn’t want to include him on the playoff roster, and that could be a serious setback for our chances.

It seems to me that with the minor league seasons now over, Charlie Hough should be available to bring in to work strictly with Billz. If my memory serves, he’s been helpful with a few other pitchers of ours, so what’s to lose. Let’s do something before it’s too late.

  47. kpookiemon

Don’t really need Charlie Hough or Dave Duncan to figure out Billingsley: on the replay of Rowand’s HR, Martin set his glove low and away and Billingsley’s ball drifted up and in. I wish Billingsley would act like he owns the mound. The action can’t begin until the pitcher decides to pitch. He looks like he’s just flinging the ball up there with no strategy or stage presence. Loved Vinny’s quote as Billingsley was being lathered (and I paraphrase): “He’s facing guys that have hit him in the past and are hitting him in the present.”

  48. Dodger4life

Good Afternoon ITD, Dodger Faithful and OUr Beloved Boy’s in Blue…….

    I need a win today Boy’s……I’m behind you guy’s 100% don’t let me down…..

This is what we have at stake around our neck of the wood’s and we are fighting hard to come out on top.

  49. oldbrooklynfan

    Hi ITD
This is a MUST win, like in MUST beat the Giants.
    That’s what it’s all about.
Keep the Giants out of the postseason.
They’ve won almost as many pennants and World Series as we have.
I’d like to us to get even with Penny.
I hope he shows the bad sign of the coin, today.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  50. truebluewill

Hi everyone ~ Was a little under the weather with a head cold yesterday, went to bed early last night. Glad to see Furcal & Manny had good games yesterday. A Dodgers win today will make me feel a lot better. I hope we get the bad Penny today.

  51. kpookiemon

I though maybe Bochy would spare Penny the indignity of being pulled mid-inning….guess not. Well, that’s karma, Brad. Moral: don’t burn bridges.

  52. nellyjune

jhall – How was your morning? I see OSU had no problems winning today. And yes, it is very good to get inside Penny’s head early. I really think that was our problem last week. We didn’t have the lineup out there to get in his head early IMO.

  53. nellyjune

jhall – I forgot it’s past way past morning for you………..it’s 5 o’clock where you are. You have had a whole day already.

  54. nellyjune

    JAMES ANTHONY LONEY !!!!!!!!!!!! #12

My Loney has a first name,
    It’s J-A-M-E-S
My Loney has a second name,
    It’s L-O-N-E-Y
I love to watch him every day
And if you ask me why I’ll say
‘Cause James Loney has a way
    With H-I-T-T-I-N-G!

    By leefink and martinloneykemp

  55. jhallwally

BonJour Nelle’ mon amie!!! Had a great morning, thanks for asking. How about you!!! I totally agree, our lineup last week didn’t try to get in his head. It really doesn’t take much. LOL!!!! The G’nats now get to see the real Panty!!!

  56. nellyjune

That’s good to hear/read jhall!!! Everything is going great here. I didn’t realize we were playing a day game until this morning. Unless we completely unravel, I think we may get this game, and I am actually watching it.

  57. nellyjune

jpd – Bad Penny made my son,Michael, leave the room. They haven’t had the pleasure of seeing Bad Penny yet, but they have now.

  58. nellyjune

Yes, I am oldbrooklynfan. I watched last night too, but they lost. I don’t have much choice during this series since half the household wants to watch the gnats play. Well, Michael left the room so technically I could change the channel, but I will test fate once again. I think we might hang on to this one today, don’t you think?

  59. truebluewill

This one should be a laugher. The Giants really don’t have the offense to comeback. But in baseball and with our beloved Dodgers you never know.

  60. enchantedbeaver

Doing well mt brother!!! How’s yourself??

Just catching up on the earlier posts… I was just laughing remembering a few weeks ago when Billz was pitching and dodgereric wrote SHAD SUCKS.
    .
    That was funny.

  61. nellyjune

jhall – to answer your question, there are only Dodger fans in the room right now. Actually, hubby is at work, and Michael couldn’t take it anymore so he went to his room. I am guessing hubby is going back and forth between the USC game and this game :))

  62. jhallwally

LOL Beav!! I’m doing well. Thanks. I missed the Shad Sucks comment damm’it!!! Hey Nell’, sounds like your living room is now officialy Dodger territory!!! They won’t be needing it in October. LMTO!!!!

  63. trublu4ever

Joe thinks it’s more important to have his players rested and healthy than to have home field advantage. So, I guess that means our lineup will suck as we get closer to the playoffs.

  64. enchantedbeaver

Was funny Wally. Billz was pitching one of his typical crappy games and instead of typing Chad Sucks, he typed it as SHAD SUCKS.

  65. nellyjune

My Loney has a first name,
    It’s J-A-M-E-S
My Loney has a second name,
    It’s L-O-N-E-Y
I love to watch him every day

    By leefink and martinloneykemp

stupid submission errors…………I really hate those worse than the time warp. At least with the time warp you can still post.

    Anyhow…………..for the last 10 minutes……..

oldbrooklynfan – I sure hope the curse is over.

jpd – that seems like it happened just yesterday – LOL!!!!!!

tru – YES WE CAN!!!!! Dodger Dogs, Dodger Blue and White M&Ms and anything else we can do that is Dodger Blue.

  66. oldbrooklynfan

I usually don’t count chickens before the eggs hatch, Nelly.
But it’s looking good so far.
Hope Garland can keep it going.
If the Dodgers win and you watched the whole game, I think you’ll get over this superstitious thing.

  67. nellyjune

Well, maybe the time warp is just as bad – I posted ahead of all the comments that I was referring to – very frustrating!!!

  68. jhallwally

I’ll bet Beav. How did Shad take it? Nell’, your living room is officially Dodger territory. They won’t be needing it in October!!! LMTO!!!!

  69. jhallwally

It sure does my brother!!! Why are you still disgusted? You should be Just Plain Optimistic!!! Ferk and Manny are showing signs of breaking out. I would bench Billz for the playoffs. Right now I would play Belliard over Hudson. What do you think?

  70. jhallwally

Well, if Ned is so wonderful and shrewd right now, he needs to negotiate a nice contract for Ethier. Buy out his arbitration and first couple of years of free agency. He is in his prime and in my opinion, our MVP this year!!

  71. oldbrooklynfan

There was another thing Dressen finally said in 1952, that I can’t wait to hear said this year and it has to do with the Magic number.

  72. nellyjune

I saw Randy Johnson pitch when he was with the dbacks. He is definitely HOF worthy. I am glad our fans treated him well.

  73. nellyjune

jhall – He needs to stay a Dodger. I don’t care so much about mvp status (even though it would be sooooo very sweet), but he needs to stay and want to stay with the Dodgers.

  74. oldbrooklynfan

I just meant seeing Johnson pitch, today.
I seen him pitch many times before.
    .
A gem for Garland today, I hope he comes back next inning.

  75. nellyjune

This came from an article from the homepage…………………..

While contributions have been spread throughout the roster, if the Dodgers have an MVP this year, it’s most likely Ethier, who is putting together the kind of season that gives management fits come salary arbitration time.

    http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090918&content_id=7034188&vkey=news_la&fext=.jsp&c_id=la

It will be very interesting to see how Andre and Matt are treated when it comes time for contracts/arbitration.

  76. jhallwally

Exactly Nell’, let him know now that he is a vital part of our team!!! I see him just getting better and a great presence for our young players coming up. He knows how to play the game.

  77. shad80

Damn no Ellis at least we get to see Garland pitch another innings would love to see him go for the CG but Torre doesn’t believe in it lol.

  78. truebluewill

All right DEWITT!!!! I saw him hit his first PH HR live against the Mets at Citi Field. Remember that oldbrooklynfan.

  79. nellyjune

Oh well – RBI #100 would have been nice, but there is still time 🙂 Nice at bat Andre – Come on JP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  80. nellyjune

woooohoooo JP!!!!!!!! 12-1 🙂 I think we need to save some of these runs for tomorrow. We do have to face Tim. Not saying we can’t win, but you know……………it’s Tim.

  81. trublu4ever

Testing. I’ve been trying to get a post on since DeWitt’s homer. Submission Errors kept getting in the way. This is really ticking me off!!!!!!

  82. shad80

Don’t do it Torre let’s him finishes it out. I was so sure we would had seebn Hu but I guess I was wrong. Is Hu on the roster?

  83. shad80

Well Ellis is in the game but wanted to see him get an ab’s. Garland thrown 95 pitches in 8th innings. Geez Weaver back to back hit leave Garland in.

  84. truebluewill

When the Dodgers win this game it will clinch the season series against the Giants. Also, it means they will have won every season series against all the NL west teams. That’s the way to win the division.

  85. jhallwally

Nice win gang!! Got to get it done tomorrow!!! The real work is ahead. I want the home field advantage. I believe we have what it takes!!

  86. truebluewill

Great win!! Anytime we can beat the Giants 12-1 is great. We have to give Garland a lot of credit, he pitched a fantastic game. I just hope he can duplicate this against either the Phillies or the Cards in the playoffs.

  87. truebluewill

Charlie Steiner keeps saying the Dodgers magic number is 7 to make the playoffs. He’s wrong it’s 6. It really bugs me when a professional announcer can’t get the little things right.

  88. nellyjune

Garland has been a great addition. I remember when many wanted him from the beginning when we were looking for starting pitching. I know hindsight is 20/20, and I know we are still doing great, but it makes you wonder what would have been if he had been with the Dodgers the entire season.

  89. nellyjune

No doubts about that jhall!!! It seems like our bats are coming to life now. Even last night wasn’t too bad. It was more about the pitching not being so hot compared to the offense not producing runs.

  90. kpookiemon

With apologies to Orlando Hudson–and not even counting the 12 runs scored–today’s batting order is the one that Joe should throw out there EVERY day so that players can get accustomed to their post-season roles. Joe…….DON’T MESS AROUND ANY MORE. Ride it for a week and see what happens. That said, what are the odds Joe’s line-up changes tomorrow? And I don’t want to hear about “rest.”

  91. nellyjune

It’s a Sunday day game. I wouldn’t be buying a ticket expecting to see the starting lineup that should be out there.

  92. trublu4ever

I agree with you, Nellyjune. Joe even said that he doesn’t care about having the best record. He prefers his players healthy and rested. So, you know what that means! I bet the team wants to play everyday to keep their swings going, don’t you?

  93. kpookiemon

Most of the pampered poodles just got two days off. Next is Tim Lincecum. It would serve the starters best to see a REAL pitcher. You know, the kind they’ll being seeing in the playoffs. Joe?

  94. Dodger4life

I think the way Belliard has been playing he deserves to be in the line -up somewhere. I don’t know that sitting any one player for a week to accomadate that is a positive thing or not??? Tough call!!!
    .
They are saying that Bills is having mechanical problems, that he is rushing……I hope that is it and he can throw the ball down and with better control. Good Luck Chad
    .
Thanks for the run support today Boy’s…..the trash talking was initiated in the 1st inning from said ( Giant fan ) by text message…… Thanks to the firepower….. I only recieved the one….LOL!!!!
    .
Lets get to Lincecum tomorrow and have the final say for the season.
    .
    GO DODGERS GO!!!
BRING THE RING TO L.A. IN 2009!!!!!

  95. nellyjune

LOL!!!!! Dodger4life – There is still one game left, and I am not saying our boys can’t beat their boys, but Tim is pitching. Wolf needs to be at his best tomorrow, and the offense needs to come on like they did today – NO FEAR I SAY!!!! The ice cream at that place is definitely worth it!!!

  96. nellyjune

lbirken – I think you were the one that asked if the Dodgers were given options of players for a trade with the A’s or was it just Ethier they wanted. This article came out just a little while ago, and it explains it briefly. Al LaMacchia was the scout who found Andre, and told Ned the Dodgers need to get him.

Well, I went back and read that thread, and lbirken…………..you were talking to oldbrooklynfan, who was asking about the Ethier/Bradley trade.

  98. shad80

I think Garland would win 16 so far if he started the season with us and I see Martinez got hurt poor guy. I’ll gave him credit for coming back.

  99. Dodger4life

I don’t mind the taunting, like you said we are out front. I can only envision a win though. That is what my mind sees until proven otherwise. I have faith in our Boy’s. I know that Lincecum is pitching, however….. Wolf is a Winner!!! The Boy’s are Winners!!! We can and will beat the G’nats tomorrow!!!! I expect a well fought game from both sides with the Blue coming out as the Victors.

  100. Dodger4life

The talking has gone on all summer, with… the Giants have better pitching. Then Manny is gone your doomed…. then Manny is back your chemistry is doomed…. Oh we just want to concentrate on the Rockies….. I can understand the frustration they feel, even if I don’t embrace it. After we win tomorrrow the only talk they will have left is……I don’t see the Dodgers doing any damage in the post season. I am already hearing that now. We just keep on going about our buisness, and were almost there. It is almost time to start checking goals off the list. I would love to check that final victory against the Rival Giant’s for 2009…. off tomorrow.

  101. nellyjune

I have always had faith in our boys. It’s management that I wish I had more faith in sometimes. Tomorrow’s game will depend on who wants it more, beginning with Joe and the lineup.

  102. Dodger4life

I will agree that this isn’t my fathers Dodgers, things have changed. Does that mean that I don’t believe in the team and the organization, not one bit. I am skeptical of things from time to time….sure. That is human nature, nobody likes to go through change blindly not knowing what’s in store. We had a wonderful era in my grandfathers day and in my fathers day, we expect the same in ours and our childrens, that is a given.
However this team last year showed promise, winning the NLDS as a young group, with the management that is currently in place. They are and have been on top of the division all year. They are currently leading the NL in wins. They have made some good accusitions it appears, Belliard, Sherrill, Garland, Padilla and Thome all while keeping the youngsters in tact. They have managed to get Pierre in the game and allow him to prosper without taking anything away from the others. They are now juggling Belliard in and out as well. We have a little work left and the season isn’t locked up yet, but heck we are headed in a good direction. Andre has come into his own under this coaching staff and management, Kemp continues to grow as well, Kershaw is in a good place I think, Bills might be struggling but he is facing it the right way I believe, that shows character. Why would’nt I believe???
I may be wrong, we shall see…..You may be able to say I told you so….So be it…..I am not trying to cushion a fall, I am trying prepare for success……Start to Finish Nelly, Start to Finish!!!

  103. nellyjune

…..and we will finish it this year. That I can and do see happening. They have worked and played too hard this season not to see a WS ring in the end.

  104. shad80

But Los Angeles pummeled him with two outs in the first. Loney’s RBI single tied it at 1 before Belliard sent a 1-2 pitch into the Dodgers’ bullpen for his fourth career grand slam, giving them a 5-1 lead and triggering taunts of Penny. He spent five years in Los Angeles before being traded to Boston last year.

They need to find new writer on the recap he wasn’t traded he was a FA for them

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=290919119&prov=ap&success=1#comments

  105. Dodger4life

I agree Nelly, they will get it done…..I told you that if you watched the game on tv we would win…..It is time for a new and improved superstition and I have one for you DO NOT run out of ice cream or bad things may happen. Ice Cream is just good clean fun isn’t it…….unless you are me and then it does dirty a good shirt.

  106. nellyjune

That is definitely true!! I got past my superstition. The boys won, and Andre got his 41st double and 99th RBI. I think I can handle keeping ice cream handy.

  107. nellyjune

Shad – according to that, Matt should be getting the day off since JP hits well against him, and Blake DeWitt deserves a start.

  108. shad80

That’s same sports writer that did the recap had this in the title. Dodgers hit 3 HRs in 12-1 rout of Giants to Dodgers are homer happy in beating Giants 12-1. I guess Beth Harris is the only women writing the article.

  109. dodgereric

    Talk is cheap.

No Giant fan has a right to talk trash about the Dodgers until they win another one.

  110. shad80

To be honest I’d rather have Kemp in ntheir don’t mess up that dynamic duo. I would love to see Kemp finished with 30 homeruns and 100 rbi’s while having his .300 ba and he does have a 10 games hit streak.

  111. Dodger4life

    Hudson is 7 for 16…..while Blake is 0 for 8 with 5 K’s…..Belliard is 2 for 4 and yes Pierre is 6 for 12 versus Kemps 0 for 10 with 6 k’s.
    .
So after seeing that I will say there is a high probability that the line up will change Khali.

  112. shad80

You know those fans going to bring up that we won 1 playoff series since 1988 but do they know the last time we won it was in 1988 while they’re still waiting for one since 1954 and in SF.

  113. shad80

I just love how espn predictor the CY. I still think Wainwright going to win it and I also remember when Broxton and Bills were 1st and 4th while Lincecum were 2nd and Cain 3rd.

Good morning D4 and Junie! The Chevelle has a new throttle cable and now actually has a gas pedal and we clobbered that jackasss Penny and all is right with the world.

  117. nellyjune

Well, that is good news about the Chevelle. ………and yes, it was good to see the bad Penny pitching against us this time instead of for us. The gnats slogan these past few weeks has been “We are still in this!”. I think the slogan needs to change at this point. I was at Target and these two guys were talking (one having a “Beat LA” t-shirt on) about how they beat us Friday and saying let’s hope we take it to them again. I am guessing they weren’t saying much after today’s game.

  118. nellyjune

No arguments here about Matt playing. The Dynamic Duo needs to stay intact until the World Series is won, and then they can take a few days off. Heck, I will even give them the winter off.

This time warp is a big mess!!!!

  119. nellyjune

We have a day off Monday so there really is no need for anybody to take tomorrow off. We need this win just because…………………..well, ice cream is at stake for Dodger4life. The good stuff too 🙂

  120. Dodger4life

I get ice cream either way Nelly……..I just want to smile while I enjoy it in peace and quiet ( I may acknowledge outloud how good ice cream is being in first place and all. )….oh yeah and that it was Bill’s Giant dime that made this all possible. I do want to win the bet….

  121. Dodger4life

Bill will then counter with my ice cream taste fine….I will then lower the boom……Yes I am sure it does but from now on everytime the ice cream truck passes your house you will think of the Dodgers…..

  122. dodgereric

Exactly Junie. We’re only up on the Phils by 3 and the Cards by two. They will have had 2 days off in 5 by tomorrow. Rest, schmest.

IT’S THE GIANTS!!! PUT THE BEST FRIGGIN’ TEAM ON THE FIELD!!!

Ok, now that I’m good and upset, it’s time to go to bed. Church in 6 1/2 hours and then some serious TV time with football, NASCAR and BIG BLUE!

    Go Jimmie, it’s winnin’ time!

Go DODGERS! TAKE THE SERIES, GET D4 HIS TOOTIE-FRUITIE!!! LOL!!!

Good night and God Bless ya’ll!!!

  123. nellyjune

Oh yes!!! It’s week two of football – time for fantasy team win #2. Go Denny (or Jimmie, or Jeff)!!!!! ………….and last, but certainly not least – GO DODGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good Night Dodgereric, and God Bless you and yours always 🙂

  124. nellyjune

Dodger4life – You are right. You get the ice cream either way. However, it’s bragging rights we are after so GO DODGERS!!!!

  125. nellyjune

Good Night ITD readers and writers!!!!! See/read you all tomorrow when we take on the gnats for the last time this 2009 season. Take Care and God Bless!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!!

  126. Dodger4life

It was good to chat with ya Eric, Nelly and Shad ( As i fight my way through this blasred time warp and it’s manipulation!!! )

Good Morning ITDland ~ With a day off tomorrow, I wish, just once, Joe would play the regulars on a Sunday. We need to try our best to beat Tim and the Giants today. I also think Randy need his best players behind him.
    .
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!! BEAT THE GIANTS!!!!!!!
    .
BEATen by LA sounds sooooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  128. messagebear@msn.com

Yesterday’s win was GREAT, but I particularly enjoyed teeing off on Penny, the worthless fat scumbag bast***. Loved watching his face on TV – the only thing that would have made me feel better would be to kick him in his worthless fat gut, or maybe lower. The game should have shut his gd mouth for a while.

Lincecum is a guy that you have to respect, but if we want to get ready for the playoffs and other teams’ best pitchers, it’s time to put our best lineup forth and win some of these remaining games against quality pitchers.

  129. Dodger4life

Good Morning ITD, Dodger Faithful and Our Beloved Boy’s in Blue……
    .
I just finished reading the L.A.Times article on Ned and him signing Andre. It seems to me and I’m new to these negotiations but Andre has already propelled himself into another class. Whom do you compare him with this winter when it comes time to discuss pay??? He seems to feed of of adversity and it is my guess that that will continue to be the case this post season…..He is zeroing in on free agency, and has made his worth wearing and displaying the Dodger name across his chest known. He does nothing but make himself the club and his teammates proud to be in his presence, the fans are growing ever more day by day, and he just has that winning attitude. What more is needed from a ballplayer, It would sure be a show of good faith and a positive sign all around if Ned and the Dodgers locked him up long term early, and Now would be fine with me. Give him some rewrds and some more positive adversity to take into the post season I say. He has the stuff to reward us all for it. I truly believe this…….I won’t be surprised when something magical comes our way this post season in the way of Andre and his teammates, I am starting to expect it……Lead by example I say and good things will follow.

  130. jhallwally

Good morning gang!!! Great posts by you all this morning. I couldn’t agree more. Go Dodgers!!!!!!!!!!!! F*** Penny!!! Ned, start negotiating a long term contract with Andre!!!!

  131. nellyjune

jhall ~ Remember all those long, long posts of trying to get the point across that Andre is going to be great someday? Remember all those heated debates about who should play……..Andre or JP? Remember trying to convince many that Andre shouldn’t be traded and that he is worth keeping? It is a great feeling to know we fought for him through all of it, and like we knew he would, Andre proved he deserves and needs to be a Dodger for a long, long time.

Dodger4life – an absolutely awesome post!!

  132. Dodger4life

    Thanks everyone……
    .
Usually my post just disappear, today I have a submission error, from time to time they just refresh and go nowhere.
    anyhow as Josh said…….
Persistance is a Virtue…..or something to that effect.

  133. nellyjune

It sure did jhall!!!! The songs were either about Andre or they were about JP, Ned, Frank and Joe, which in part had to do with Andre (and Matt) not playing.

Okay – this is the 18th time I have tried this post due to submission errors. This really, really sucks!!!!!

NEW YORK (AP)—Southern California dropped nine spots and out of the top 10 in The Associated Press college football poll Sunday, and Washington moved into the rankings for the first time in six years.

A day after the Huskies upset the Trojans 16-13 on a late field goal, USC fell from No. 3 to No. 12 in the media poll. The Trojans became the second preseason top-five team to lose in the first three weeks of the season. Preseason No. 3 Oklahoma lost its opener to BYU.

Washington, ranked for the first time since Sept. 28, 2003, is No. 24.

No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Texas have held firm to their spots all season. No. 3 Alabama and No. 4 Mississippi moved up one spot in the latest poll, giving the Southeastern Conference three of the top four teams in the nation. Penn State remained No. 5.
