Dodgers on FOX

Eric Collins and Steve Lyons get a day off in Chicago and Psycho said he’s actually going to sit in the stands and watch the game from the bleachers. Eric weighed in early this morning over on Psychollingy, so check it out and let them know if you have anything you can them to chat about.

As for today’s lineup, here you go:

Pierre, LF

Furcal, SS

Hudson, 2B

Loney, 1B

Etjoer. RF

Martin, C

Loretta, 3B

Kemp, CF

Stults, P

Sigh Josh misspell Ethier but that ok and it sicking me seeing Martin ahead of Kemp.

I get to watch the Nascar racing so far until the Dodgers/Cubs comes on. Already a cautious flag and not even a race completed yet.

Already a cautious flag and not even a lap completed yet.

Hey Josh!!! What’s this spelling Ethier’s name wrong? Even my first graders can all spell his name right. LOL!!! (jk) Glad to see Raffy in the lineup today. Thanks Josh for all that you do!!! You are fantastic!!!

GO DODGERS!!!!!!!

Josh Logano is racing good.

oops I mean Joey.

Why does Matt Kemp continue to bat 8th while James Loney bats 4th? I don’t think Joe likes Matty that much. Kemp has trouble with curveballs so batting him 8th makes no sense. With a pitcher behind him he wont see anything to hit…he should be batting 3rd. Imagine what he’d do with those fastballs.

Plus Loney is slow and grounds into too many double plays to bat clean up. Thats a good way to kill rallys.

I really have no problem with Loney batting 4th but Kemp batting 8th is just plain dumb. How about dropping Furcal down to #8 and put Hudson back to his normal spot at #2 and put Kemp to #3. Kemp is like Crawford but with a better arm and power and should be batting 3rd.

That’s should avoid the dp with Kemp batting 3rd not like Furcal is running these days and Hudson too.

Hi ITD,

I think Torre better have weaver ready go today, if stultz thumb causes problems. Perhaps this is expected and explains why he didnt use the Bull pen in the 7th yesterday.
No Blake today? Geez
So lets Go Dodgers!

Good Afternoon Everybody
It’s good to have the game televised on FOX
Otherwise I’d have to listen to it.
LETS GO STULTS

Joe Torre has wasted Matt Kemp this year…outside of Manny he’s our best power threat. He leads the team in stolen bases as well. A Complete waste of who I think is our best player.

Matt Kemp wouldn’t bat 8th for any other team in baseball. Probably not even the Yankees or Red Sox.

LETS GO DODGERS, LETS GO!!!!

Wohoooooooo glad they show that grand slam by Loney from last year playoff.

Way to go Russ!!!

Nice play Martin

THAT is why we need to keep Russ around for a long time!

Should had just ibb that #8 hitter when he stole that bases since the pitcher spot even though it’s too early.

This game is starting to look like the previous two games in Chicago with both teams struggling a bit offensively. Let’s hope the Dodgers bats come alive soon.

Oh crap I hate that bunt with 2 outs that was so gay

Nelly, at first glance I thought Andre wasn’t in the lineup and I was ready to be pissed when I realized his named was there and just spelled wrong.

Damn Furcal what are you swinging out.

out=at

Lousy when you wait around for a pitcher to make a mistake or tire out.

Hey bluecrewgirl!!! Looks like everyone is struggling a bit today.

Yeah, Dempster is pitching well so far. Andre usually hits him really well, over .400 career I think. It looks like he is letting the beard fill back in a bit. Hope it will bring him luck.

Let’s hope so. He hasn’t had any K’s in the last few games, so that’s a definite improvement.

Mota? Uh oh!!!

Bad enough Stults didn’t have it, so far Dempster does.

Yeah try .455.

Wheres Weaver?

He does have 3rd scoring innings

I wonder if Stults’ finger is still bothering him. I hope he doesn’t get sent back when Kuroda gets activated. I really like him.

He almost got out of it.

That is what I am thinking bluecrewgirl.

Koufax, I know Weaver had a blister. I’m not sure if it’s still an issue for him.

This is not looking good!

Wow 4th scoring inning

Unbelievable, RUSSELL has thrown 2 runners out stealing.
Good Going Guy.

Russell had made so great defensive plays today. Now all we need is to score some runs.

Well Weaver is warming up that probably why Mota was in to pitch that 1 inning.

This is not good.

It gets worse every batter!

Nobody warming up, Did Joe throw in the towel?

Nobody warming up, Did Joe throw in the towel?

3 up and 3 down :(

I don’t think it really matter since our offense is not showing up.

I don’t think any manager will admit to “thowing in the towel” but to be realistic, why chew up the bullpen in a game that certainly is headed in the wrong direction.

Nice dp time to make Dumpster work this inning.

I hope they show Larry King ( Lifetime Dodger Fan, since Brooklyn) sing, “take me out to the ballgame”
Who knows what could happen ? ( lol )

Yeah Andre!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s got his hit for the days so hands off people!!!!!

Baby, steps Nelly! Little by little he’s fighting his way back. Speaking of baby steps, maybe he should watch that movie What About Bob? I love that movie and they say laughter is the best medicine.

Andre’s got a two day hitting streak…………….things are looking much better for him.

That is a good movie bluecrewgirl.

Let’s Wade get some inning in.

Well it looks like we were trying to go to right, Bradley made all 3 putouts. Even Ethiers double.

Not much to laugh about in today’s game, especially with it being on national TV. Has to be disappointing to out of town Dodger fans who normally do not get to see too many Dodger games on live TV.

Larry King was definitely better than Mr. T. Kind of had the Jimmy Durante vibe going on.

Larry King’s a trader.

Let’s see if we can get anything going this inning. Kemp started off with a hit.

Welcome back Juan for 4.

It’s Larry King’s fault.

:))))

Good to see Wade with a 1 2 3 innings I would love to see alot more of those when we have a lead with him.

Let’s break the shutout against the ex-Met Heilman.

If the Indians could scored 7 runs in the 9th so can I but going to be tough.

I=we and nice started so far.

Sigh dp.

Spit, I like your attitude and that is why I don’t leave games early as a rule but no magic today. Dodger pitching would’ve had to throw a shutout of their its today just to stay even. I hate getting shut out!

Two good outing by Cubs starting pitching, Lilly and Dempster proved a little to much for our guys.
Let’s hope we can do better against Sean Marshall.

The Cubs are curse and I really thought we could had made this a game in the 9 but just no magic today.

Just got back from Grand Junction and it looks as though Stults with his sore thumb and my boy Weaver did not get it done. At least a lot of runs were not wasted on today’s effort,
and a win tomorrow will send us home with a successful road trip.

I sure wish the D’s could have made a better accounting of themselves on national TV.My computer is away from the TV so I didn’t post during the game. The Cubs just plain beat us today. Doesn’t look like Stults is yet fully recovered from his thumb injury. I did, however, like Kemp’s upending of Blanco as the lead runner on the DP in the 8th.It’s a pretty bad game if that’s one of the highlights. However, tomorrow’s another day and another chance to start a winning streak and attain a successful road trip.

Damn I can’t believe the Penguins and Red Wings with Hossa ex Pens back in the playoff again.

Congratulation Magics no more LeBron lol.

Wow Tracy is now 2-0 maybe it’s was Hudler. Nice comeback Rockies and come on Cards beat the Giants.

4-2 Cards, top of the 8th

5-2 Cards :)

6-2 Cards :)

Look like the Cards going to tied for 1st places if they hold on with the Brewers and the Giants going to dropped to 3rd places again.

It’s official – the gnats lost :)

I was impressed by Kemp’s effort, with the D’s down 7-0,as the middle man on that DP. Nobody would have blamed him if he’d just slid in but he tried to break it up, just as he should’ve. It showed me that he knows how the game is played and how much he loves to play it. A tip of the flask and the cap to you, Matt.

It was one of the few good moments in the game today :)

Did you guys see the picture of Andre standing in the outfield with all those birds on the field in the pictures from today’s game? Reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. Kind of creeps me out.

No, but I will go look now :)

That is one cool picture bluecrewgirl.

Did you see the one with him and that little boy and his dad too? Too cute):

Yes…… very, very sweet :)

Where is all those picture at?

They are on the homepage….bottom right in the photo gallery :)

Three runs in three days, each day one less than the day before. MartinLoneyKempEthier have played very average baseball of late. ZZZZZZZZZ. These guys have always been the future….but it’s time now. STEP UP!!!…or get out of the way.

kahli-who would you replace them with? I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, just want to know what you would do. In the end, I think everybody on here wants the same thing.
I’d like to point out, though, we have a big lead and every team is going to flatten out at some point in the season. In some ways, we’ve had it too easy lately.

The above four, as you mention, have indeed played very average baseball – in some cases well below their personal averages. I think that much of our surge came because of the performance at the top of the lineup. If Pierre will settle back down to a normal Juan for four and Hudson cool off to a more normal .300, we will probably get back closer to a .500 pace. I’m concerned with Furcal and the lack of any power in his bat. Same lack of power with Martin, although he’s playing a great defensive role with his throws to the bases. It’ll all come down to the pitching, as always. Kuroda could add a great deal of stability to Billz and Wolf at the top of the lineup, if he’s ready to get back to his norm. I don’t see Kershaw breaking out beyond possibly 10 wins, and No. 5 won’t produce much whether it stays Stults or Milton. Don’t have much confidence in the bullpen outside of Tronco, Belisario (at least at present) and Brox.

Anything over 92 wins should easily give us the division anyway, but I don’t see us keeping up the record-setting pace of the past couple of weeks in any case. But it is fun when you’re rolling – so, please, Dodgers, ROLL A LITTLE LONGER!

Ok thanks Nelly.

Good Morning ITD, Dodger Faithful….
.
Flattened out just a bit, good description, Knoff. The Boy’s have been playing with such intensity these days this was inevitable at some point. NL West Champoins, not yet, we are on our way though. We cant all flatten out at the same time, we need some excitement back on our side of the field. Pick up your teammate’s when you can, make some noise and keep your eye on the prize.

Those interested have probably already read the article below. It’s about Cheater Manny.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke-dodgers31-2009may31,0,3631052.column?page=1

messagebear – How dare McCourt speak on behalf of the fans like that!! We do not all feel like he deserves to come back like nothing ever happened, and take his spot in left field like it’s no big deal. Also, as much as I would love for McCourt or Selig to take Manny off the All-Star ballot, I think Manny should do it himself. I would love for him to show some remorse for what he has done to this team, and it’s fans, and this just might be a first step in showing the fans he might be sorry for what he did. I am glad we are winning without him. It kind of proves we should have been going after pitching all along and not wasting our time with his contract. I am not saying Manny hasn’t been a valuable piece, but this last month of games have proven we can do it without him too. The Dodgers have another month to do what they can do without him, and I just hope Manny does what is right because there are many fans who deserve to be treated like this issue does matter. I personally think the fans that are wearing the “Free Manny” shirts are not representing how most of us feel, but that’s what Frank sees and just assumes it’s true for all of us, and that is just wrong ~ IMHO of course :)

I applaud your forthrightness, nelly. I’m glad it’s you teaching our youngsters, and it’s obvious that that includes distinguishing between what’s right and what’s wrong. Thank you for a job much needed in today’s environment.

Thank you messagebear! I just don’t think it’s going to be the same when he gets back. Whether they will admit it or not, you would have to figure some of the players will have different opinions of him when he returns, and there will be an adjustment period once again, which may or may not affect the team’s chemistry or on field performance. Only time well tell, and until then, we have a month of games in June to play, and who knows what that will bring us…….hopefully a bigger lead in our division, with everybody staying healthy.

Good afternoon ITD boys and girls!
Tough game the last couple of games. But we all knew that the Dodgers couldn’t and wouldn’t keep up the 30+ runs in a series was going to last forever. I’m just glad that they have a good enough cushion to weather the lean games. Going into this series, I thought (naively, I know) that we could sweep, or at worst, win 3 of 4. Both Ted Lilly and Ryan Dempster pitched extremely well.

As for Manny, I didn’t think that Selig would take Manny’s name off the ballot. I know that the individual teams tells MLB to put whatever names on the ballot, but I’m not entirely sure if once a name goes on, if it can be taken off. I don’t know; maybe they can, maybe they can’t. All I know is my feelings on the matter. Manny should NOT be allowed to participate on the ASG. As bad a message PEDs and steroids gives to our kids, if MLB allows Manny to participate would be an even bigger travesty. All I can hope for is that the fans DON’T vote Manny into the ASG. I know that Charlie Manual is way too smart to “appoint” a spot for Manny, and I don’t believe that Charlie would do that anyways.

My understanding on this All-Star game issue is that like much everything else it is controlled by the existing labor agreement. There is a clause that specifies that anybody selected by the fans’ ballot cannot be excluded because of suspensions, so MLB will naturally point to that. If Manny had any shame or regret, he would of course ask to be voluntarily excluded, much as Torre would expect. If Manny decided to participate in the game after all, I would hope that Charlie Manuel would single-handedly show the guts and simply not use him.

I think it was too late to take Manny off the ballot but, I’ll bet you next year there will be a new clause that will eliminate a person who has been suspended for a banned substance. I don’t think Manny even played in AS games when he was with Boston, simply because he didn’t want to. I think he is smart enough to refuse to play if he were voted as a starter.
.
I may be in the minority but I do want Manny back. And, the sooner the better. We’ve lost some of our chemistry without him around. I think he will tell his teammates whatever it takes to make peace. As far as the media, he should just tell them one time that he messed up and let it be over.

What say you, Uncle Charley?

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view/2009_05_28_Manny_Ramirez_s_All-Star_fate_just_a_click_away/

From the May 28th Boston Herald article:

“The All-Star Game is for the fans and I think if he got voted in, then it would be appropriate for him to play,” said Philadelphia’s Charlie Manuel, the NL manager. “Once he serves his suspension, he’s paid his penalty and he’s just like every other player.”

—————————-

Guess Charlie REALLY wants to win the all-star game. At least our very own Joe Torre is keeping it real. And I think Manny would keep it real, too. If he didn’t, it’d be a gross misstep, and polarize the fan base due to the embarassment of many should Manny choose to appear in the all-star game.

But I’m pretty certain he would enjoy a 3-day break after taking in all the punishment from the long road trip that opens his return.
