3 straight beautiful lineups to start the season…I’ve died and gone to heaven!!

    Thanks Josh

  2. messagebear@msn.com

The thing that I like best about this lineup is thinking how it must eat up JP’s guts to think that that’s all she wrote for his career. Why don’t you just quit, JP!

  3. shad78

Yeah 3 straight good lineup while LaRussa using his 3rd different one and no surprise he got the pitcher batting 8th.

  4. oldbrooklynfan

Hi ITD, I’m glad to be back after last night’s nightmare.
My comments must’ve been crazy, sorry for that.
I’ll try to control myself tonight.
    It’s only technology.
If this command gets out to you than everything is fine.
Presently, I mean right now, my MLB.TV is working perfectly.
I hope things don’t go wrong as soon as the Dodgers come on.
If so, I’ll take it like a man.

  5. bluecrewgirl

Joepierre, I think we all had issues with the blog last night. I had a triple post myself. Let’s hope they rebound tonight.

  6. oldbrooklynfan

So far it’d been a lot better for me tonight with this MLB.TV but not for BLZ thanks to Eckstien but good news they didn’t score.

  7. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

I know how joepierre and others feel. Last night, I got so frustrated I finally just gave up. MLB is ok, for now…..Bills is throwing a lot of pitches. That is always a cause for concern.

  8. nellyjune

Okay – this still isn’t working I can see. I lost another post in cyberspace somewhere, and I am sure it will show up sometime after this one.

Good Evening bluecrewgirl, Boblee, joepierre and of course, Dodger4life!!! It’s great seeing all of you!!!!

  9. nellyjune

Good Evening ITD readers and writers!!!!!
    LET’S GO DODGERS!!!!!

I just got in from my son’s baseball game. He pitched a complete game (7 innings in highschool), and he had 9 K’s, and they won the game 2-1.

  11. nellyjune

Well that’s impressive – how did I post two comments at the same time? – LOL!!!! …and as you can see, the first one should have been the second one 🙂

    Good Evening seesky!!!!!

  12. dodgerkramer@yahoo.com

    To Josh Rawitch:

I’m a huge Vin Scully fan. I love him. … I just wondered if you could tell him (or his assistant or whatever) that he always mispronounces Casey Blake’s hometown.

    It’s Indianola, Iowa. Pronounced IN-dee-in-OH-la.

Vin always says, “Ianola,” or something like that.

I’m from Des Moines, Iowa, which is about 15 miles from Indianola.

    Thanks!

  13. boblee4014

Hi nelly, great to be watching Dodger baseball. I will be glad when this team starts really scoring some runs that they are capable of doing. Way to go orlando. come on Manny.

  14. nellyjune

Good Evening jhall!!!!!!!! I made it the entire day. I am very proud of myself. It was hard, but I did it!!! 🙂

  15. nellyjune

Thanks bluecrewgirl – it was pretty good to watch. I am more relaxed when he is just playing first, but days like today make it a little easier watching him pitch.

  16. jhallwally

Good for you Nelly!!! I’m proud of you if that’s what you want/need to do. Hope you had a great day!!! Sure wish Dad/Eric would drop in for a little while.

  17. nellyjune

jhall – he ended up pitching today. He pitched a complete game with 9 K’s with the rest being pop ups and ground balls. I think only one ball was an actual fly ball to right field (and caught thank goodness – been having issues out there). The score was 2-1, us, and the one run was unearned because the batter reached base on a called strike, but the catch dropped the ball and didn’t make a good through to first base. He had a great outing. A very proud mom 🙂

  18. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

nelly– A real impressive game pitched by your son. I can only imagine the emotions that you feel while watching something like that.

  19. nellyjune

seesky – to be honest, it’s hard watching him pitch. When he’s pitching good, no problem, but when things aren’t going well either with his pitching or too many errors behind him, it’s agonizing at times. Then you add batting on top of it, and he’s much like Andre…….bats/throws left, hits 4th and gets mad like Andre if he doesn’t hit the ball every at bat. He hates when I compare them, but they have a similar lefty swing and very similar emotions. However, I since the bats are metal right now, no bats have been broken and no helmets to my knowledge either. LOL!!!!

  20. oldbrooklynfan

NELLY, I just got around to reading up on you.
I just want to say congratulations to you and your son.
It must be great to perform so well in front of a great baseball fan mother, like you.

  21. boblee4014

We’re going to screw around and let the Pads back into this game. Rats. 5 straight balls. copme on.

  22. bluecrewgirl

Did you guys read that Torre said he wants to work Pierre into the lineup a game or two a week? Does that mean giving him an at bat in a game or a starting him? If it means 2 starts a week, that’s ridiculous. Give me a break.

  23. nellyjune

jhall – your dad/Ward Dear is watching Matt play hockey as we speak I am sure. I will let you know the outcome shortly since I have my inside source now 🙂

  24. jhallwally

Thanks Nells!!! Let him now we are thinking of him and miss him here. Not too bad for Billz, could have been alot worse. This game is going to be a battle of bullpens. Let’s get some offense going.

  25. nellyjune

Oh no – bad Billz shows up for a spell 🙂

bluecrewgirl – that would just be pathetic. They aren’t going to replace Manny. So, if he starts, that means he will play centerfield, and he will either push Andre or Matt to the bench for those two games.

  26. bluecrewgirl

It could have been worse, jhall, but we should be raking these Pads pitchers tonight. I mean the starter was working in a restaurant 4 years ago and we couldn’t do better than 2 runs? I know it’s early in the season and I think they’ll be fine, it’s just frustrating.

  27. boblee4014

i just had a feeling we were going to let them back into the game. Where’s our power. Where the hell is our luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  28. boblee4014

i just had a feeling we were going to let them back into the game. Where’s our power. Where the hell is our luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. jhallwally

Starting PileOPhew is just ignorance!!! If Andre or Kemp needed a rest, maybe. But that certainly is not the case, especially this early in the season and as young as they are. Geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. jhallwally

I’m feeling it too Bleu Fille’!!! LOL!!!
Thanks Nells!!!! Something just not right without Dad/Eric.

  35. bluecrewgirl

Nelly, I am hoping he means get him some at bats and not start him. I don’t have a problem with him getting some at bats, but starting twice a week would be unacceptable as far as I’m concerned.

  36. jhallwally

Billz is hanging tough. Doesn’t have his A-game tonight, but getting the job done. Still a quality start. I think JoJo wants to give Ferk a day off soon and he probably thinks he should start Pile and lead him off. Ignorance!!! Let Hudson lead off. I hope I am wrong. Geez!!!

  37. nellyjune

jhall – he got our pleas last night. He had been working on his Scouts Spreadsheets he does for their trips. By the time he read them, it was too late to reply.

  38. jhallwally

Cool Nells!!! BobLee, I gave up on MLBTV. I just get the GameDay Audio. I just kept having problems with the TV. I think you need RoadRunner to get it to work.
4 to 2, Sweet!!! Way to go Manny!!!!

  39. nellyjune

Okay – now I am impressed!!!! Andre got intentionally walked!!!! Now, tell me that would happen to Juan Pierre. I don’t think so!!!!!

  40. boblee4014

jhallwally What is roadrunner? Can you download it or do you have to purchase it seperately. HaHa

  41. leekfink

My Loney has a first name,
    It’s J-A-M-E-S
My Loney has a second name,
    It’s L-O-N-E-Y
I love to watch him every day
And if you ask me why I’ll say
‘Cause James Loney has a way
    With H-I-T-T-I-N-G!

  42. nellyjune

joepierre – I did comment on it, but it never appeared did it? Sometimes it appears 5 minutes later. I apologize – thank you very, very much. He just walked in the door, and he was reading all the comments. He says thank you to all as well even though you are Dodger fans. He is now watching the gnats, who happen to be losing 4-2 in the 8th right now. GO BREWERS!!!!!

  43. leekfink

I tried to post it more timely, but had trouble logging in.
    .
Josh–you better tell the scouting department about Nelly’s son. We could use a good left-hander. (Actually, I think our pitching “problems” are way too overblown, but you can always use a good left-handed arm.)
    .
Great start so far, and if we can finish up here tonight, that’s great. And yes, three identical line-ups (1-8) is good news. There will be days off for guys (Martin and Furcal are expected–and I suppose that even Kemp will get a day off here and there, though why a 24-year old who is acknowledged to be the best athlete in the organization needs a “regular” day off continues to boggle my mind), but it’s clear that there really should not be any drama with the line-up, on a day-to-day basis. I hope that does not drive traffic here down.
    .
There are still some interesting unresolved questions, but this team is as good or better *right now* as the team that went to the NLCS. For those of us who have been waiting for next year ever since the Jacksonville-5 made its mark in 2005, I think that next year has arrived.

  44. shad78

Damn I hate to bench kuo in my league but had too because I had 3 starters, 2 closers and need a save because I was down 2-1 and now after the last minute change I’m leading 3-2 so far and 2 other RP’s but already leading the hold category 3-1.

  45. nellyjune

leekfink – thanks for the comment. He’s only a 15 year old sophomore, with two more years of pitching at the highschool level. I am just hoping he stays injury free 🙂

  46. bluecrewgirl

I know we were all worried about the depth of the BP this year, but I really have to hand it to them all so far. Great job!

  47. nellyjune

bluecrewgirl – I am pretty impressed so far as well. It’s coming together very nicely right now 🙂

  48. enchantedbeaver

So the key this year for Brox is, make sure he has a three run lead in the ninth.

The next to last pitch said he hit 100.

  49. shad78

Holy crap they just said an Angels fan had died from someone beating him up don’t know how that happen when he was at the game 2 days ago. I know it early and everyone was complaining about the bullpen but I know the bullpen would come through for us but can they keep it up? I still think spring training game mean jack.

  50. enchantedbeaver

“Torre said he also wants to work fourth outfielder Juan Pierre into the lineup “a game or two a week” but hadn’t formulated a plan yet. ”

    Tell me THAT isn’t frightening.

  51. enchantedbeaver

So the key this year for Brox is, make sure he has a three run lead in the ninth.

The next to last pitch said he hit 100.

  52. nellyjune

Like I said earlier enchanted. Nobody, I mean nobody is going to intentionally walk Juan Pierre. That should tell you right there. If you are putting him in to replace Andre or Matt, you have got to be out of your mind. Not only that, he will be playing centerfield. He can’t play right and Manny is in left. So, you are not only giving up a bat, but you are giving up an arm as well.

  53. jhallwally

Amen Nelly!!! Totally ignorant. Like I have said before, our goal this year should be; “STOP THE IGNORANCE”©

  54. nellyjune

    Even better jhall!!!!!

enchanted – l love your songs enchanted, but let’s hope you don’t need to use them 🙂

  55. kpookiemon

OK…I’ve laid low for all of three games. But what fun is a Dodger season without second guessing? Sooooooooooooooooooo, I don’t like Torre’s batting order. So what’s new?

Here’s a quiz to get rolling. Which two Dodger regulars are the most psychotic in terms of self-loathing when they fail? And which two Dodger hitters are burdened with protecting Manny, perhaps the most important chore on the team? The answers are the same. Ethier and Martin, of course. They turn bat handles into sawdust. So here’s my line-up…and I was thinking this BEFORE the game:

    Furcal
Ethier (sorry, O-Dog, he excelled here, nothing against you)
    Manny
Loney (disciplined, clutch hitter, uses the whole field, excelled here as well)
    Kemp
Hudson (he’s a lefty…Joe likes to play that flip-flop game)
    Blake
Martin (he’s sitting once a week for Ausmus anyway, why disrupt the order)

No rocket science here…just my ignorant blogger thoughts.

  56. nellyjune

    even better jhall!!!

enchanted – you know I love your songs, but let’s hope you don’t have to use those.

  57. nellyjune

I like your line up Kahli!! I too, want to see Andre back in the 2-hole, and Martin just hasn’t looked good where he is batting either. You are right about Loney. He is a clutch hitter. Andre is best at helping set the table. His disciplined approach to the plate gets him hits as well as walks, and you need runners on base with Manny coming up.

  58. jhallwally

I haven’t stated anything here that you haven’t already thought about and realized. Of course, you are all capable of abstact thought, something I don’t think our brain trust (I use that phrase loosely) of JoJo, Ned, and Frank seem to have a hard time with. It’s funny that they keep juggling the one brain cell and one ‘nad among them and they never seem to come together. Maybe they are starting to get it. Play the young guys. Is it just me, or did anyone notice that we played really good sound fundamental baseball tonight with good defense. Kind of like what made the Dodgers a model organization. Coincidence, I think not!!!
Give me the young, hungry, athletic team anytime.

  59. kpookiemon

jhall, how can you discount PVL Pierre when he led off the seventh-inning rally…albeit with an out, but he MUST have rattled Mujica, right?

  60. nellyjune

LOL!!!! Once again, if they are even thinking of starting him over Manny, Matt and Andre, there is something seriously wrong with “them”. I am not sure who “them” is. I am guessing it’s just a mixture of FrankNedJoe.

  61. kpookiemon

Have to admit as a bitter Angel hater (Arte, Anaheim is NOT part of LA) I loved seeing Fuentes blow a save tonight, with Nomar getting the clutch, two-out hit to tie the game.

  62. enchantedbeaver

Question: Does the opposing pitcher even need a scouting report on JP? Pretty much anything they throw up there that’s halfway near the plate he slaps at.

  63. jhallwally

Beav, you need to break out your Declaration of Independence that you did last year. Then we start the revolution.

  64. jhallwally

You’re right Beav!!! Throw it up there. 8 times out of 10 it is a weak ground ball or a pop up. And if you make a mistake and he hits it well, it will most likely only be a single. Then he will get thrown out trying to steal second. What a waste!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop the IGNEDENCE!!®

  65. jhallwally

Beav, you’re a founding father!!! You hold these truths to be self evident.
We have the right to see the best players and talent that is on our team.
We have the right to expect the hitter to get the run in from 3rd base with less than 2 out.
We have the right to expect players capable of fielding thier position.

  66. nellyjune

…and there you have it enchanted – LMTO!!!!!!….and does JP fit any of those things………………………….no, he doesn’t!!!!!….at least not for this current Dodger team.

  67. trublu4ever

I’m oping i can get through this time! I’ve tried several times and had to wait so long I got pi**** off! Good to see all of you tonight.

  68. jhallwally

Everybody’s got something to hide, ‘cept for Ned and his Monkeywitz!! Got to get the Beatles in there somewhere. LOL!!!!

  69. trublu4ever

Speaking of Pile…….and I really hate to even consider him a member of our team, how many times does he have a 2 – 0 count and can’t even draw a damn walk?! What a useless piece of crap!

  70. trublu4ever

Damn, I try so hard to get something through, I don’t have time to do a spellcheck! Sorry for the left off letters!

  71. nellyjune

..and just so you know, my Dodger Gnome is still on my piano and is on alert in case the unthinkable happens and JP starts a game where it truly isn’t warranted.

  72. jhallwally

Why don’t Ned and JPile hit the road,
Why don’t Ned and JPile hit the road,
No one will be missing them,
Why don’t they just go home.

    My apologies to John Lennon.

  73. trublu4ever

Enchanted ~ I’ve had all of this anger building for quite some time and it is finally breaking loose!

  74. nellyjune

Well, if they are thinking of starting him, it will have to be away games only because if they do it during home games, they will have all but a handful of Dodger fans at Dodger Stadium who will let them know how stupid they really are.

  75. trublu4ever

How in the hell can Joe eve think of putting yougnomewho in the lineup?! It would serve no purpose except for soothing his fragile ego!

  76. enchantedbeaver

I’m working on several concepts Wally:
    .
Its so nice to be with you (Its not nice to be with Phew)
    .
    She Blinded me with Science
    .
You Can’t Touch this (You can’t hit this)
    .
    Goody Two Shoes
    .
    Southern Nights
    .
    Smooth
    .
    Der Kommissar
    .
    Safety Dance

These all have Juan written all over them. I’m furthest along with Smooth right now.

  77. jhallwally

JoJo thinking in the dugout tonight,
Start Pierre and lose out right,
    Play the kids,
You were only waiting for this moment to arrive.
    Juanpy, sulks,
    Juanpy, sulks,
Into the night goes a Manny blast!!!!

  78. nellyjune

Okay – Are you reading this Ward Dear?…….You better get your behind back here before Beav has all things songs done. LMTO!!!!!!!

  79. trublu4ever

I like You Can’t Touch This!!!! Actually, Enchanted, they should play that every time he comes to bat!

  80. nellyjune

Boy jhall – your mind is working tonight too – LMTO!!!!! Mine is pretty much toast. One more day and I am officially on Spring Break.

  81. nellyjune

enchanted – I know all those original songs. I will be interested in the Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me with Science” and I think the “Safety Dance” might be one to watch for as well – LMAO!!!!!!! Der Kommisor and then Goody Two Shoes ( Adam Ant?) LMAO!!!!! This should be good enchanted.

  82. enchantedbeaver

Most are concepts right now. I’ve only started a few lines for Goody Two Shoes and have gotten a little further with Smooth. I have to let them write themselves though and right now the words aren’t coming. Guess I need some Juanderful inspiration.

  83. jhallwally

Goodnight gang!!! Think its time for me to hit the rack also. Catch you down the road!!!! Excelsior!!!!

  84. nellyjune

Good night jhall/Wally – always a pleasure my friend. It is great seeing you around again more often.

  85. colliethec

I know I’m late with this but Khali– I agree with your lineup.
    .
I like the O-Dog in that spot as sort of a 2nd leadoff hitter.
    .
Dre has more pop and I think right now Hudson is still recovering from his surgery and his wrist isn’t as strong as it normally is. I think Dre is more of a threat to go deep in the #2 spot and with Manny behind him he’ll do more with the better pitches he gets than Hudson will.
    .
    Losing power take care…

Angels rookie Adenhart killed in hit-and-run crash
By GILLIAN FLACCUS, Associated Press Writer
    5 minutes ago

Buzz up! PrintANAHEIM, Calif. (AP)—Los Angeles Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart and two other people were killed Thursday when a minivan ran a red light and struck their sports car, authorities said.

Adenhart, 22, died after undergoing surgery, University of California, Irvine Medical Center spokesman John Murray said.

A fourth person remained hospitalized in critical condition.

Adenhart, of Silver Spring, Md., was the Angels’ No. 3 starter. He threw six scoreless innings Wednesday night in his fourth major-league start and first of the season. Oakland won the game 6-4.

Adenhart and three other people were in a silver Mitsubishi that was struck shortly before 12:30 a.m. by a minivan that ran a red light and also hit another vehicle, police said.

The sports car struck a light pole, killing three people inside.

Police Lt. Craig Brower said the minivan driver fled the crash scene and was captured a short time later. The driver was arrested and booked for investigation of felony hit-and-run.

Adenhart, a right-hander, earned a spot in the starting rotation on an injury-plagued Angels staff by impressing manager Mike Scioscia late in spring training.

The pitcher made his major league debut May 1 of last year, also against Oakland. He made two other starts, getting his only decision in a victory over the Chicago White Sox on May 12. He was 37-28 in the minor leagues from 2005-08, including 9-13 last year at Triple-A Salt Lake.

There was to be a moment of silence before the start of the Texas Rangers’ home game against the Cleveland Indians.

Wow. So young and talented. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, and the entire Angel’s family.
