Needless to say, it’s the biggest game of the year tonight. Here are some notes we put in the game notes for the media…

► Tonight’s game is the first NLCS game at Dodger Stadium in exactly 20 years. Game 7 of the 1988 NLCS vs. New York was on Oct. 12, 1988. Orel Hershiser, who is broadcasting tonight’s game for ESPN Radio, shut out the New York Mets, 6-0 to capture the National League pennant for the Dodgers.

RECORD-SETTING INFIELD – Tonight’s ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell, and Ron Cey, who played together with the Dodgers for a Major League-record 8 ½ seasons. The quartet appeared in four World Series, including the World Championship team of 1981. Lopes currently serves as the first base coach for the Phillies, Garvey and Cey work in the Dodgers’ front office, and Russell works for Major League Baseball’s umpiring division.

BATTLED TESTED – Nomar Garciaparra has appeared in the LCS twice with Boston in 1999 and 2003. The Whittier native batted .400 (8-for-20) with two homers and five RBI in 1999. In 29 career postseason games, Garciaparra is batting .318 (34-for-107) with a .380 on-base percentage, .598 slugging percentage, seven homers, and 23 RBI. He ranks seventh among active players with a .314 career batting average.

THIS DATE IN DODGER HISTORY – On this date in 1985, the Dodgers notched five doubles in Game 3 at St. Louis to tie the club NLCS record set on Oct. 7, 1977.

GETTING ON – Andre Ethier is batting just .222 (4-for-18) in five postseason games this year, but he has reached base at a .391 clip during the playoffs, as he’s drawn five walks. Since August 5, Ethier is hitting .354 with a .439 on-base percentage and .615 slugging percentage.

WHAT A RELIEF – A quintet of Dodger relievers threw 5.2 scoreless innings in Game 2. In five postseason games, the Dodger bullpen has posted a 1.65 ERA (3 ER/16.1 IP). During the regular season, the Dodgers’ relief corps ranked second in the NL with a 3.33 ERA behind only the Phillies (3.19).

SEÑOR OCTUBRE – Manny Ramirez drove in three runs in Game 2 to give him seven during the playoffs and 71 in his postseason career, which ranks second all-time behind Bernie Williams (80). Ramirez has hit safely in 40 of his last 45 postseason games, with a .351 (60-for-171) average during that span.  His teams are 58-42 overall in the postseason.

► Ramirez has three homers in his first five playoff games this year. The only other Los Angeles Dodgers to accomplish that feat are Steve Garvey and Ron Cey, who homered three times in the first five games of the 1978 NLCS.

MEDIA MADHOUSE – More than 800 credentials have been issued for the 2008 NLCS at Dodger Stadium. That includes more than 30 daily newspapers from around the country, several wire services and major sports websites, and media outlets from at least eight different countries – the United States, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador.

CATCHING SOME HITS – Russell Martin has a hit in all five postseason games this season and seven of the eight playoff games he’s played in during his career. He has a .313 career postseason average (10-for-32) with five RBI and six runs scored.

Thanks for the great post Josh. Still prefer James over Nomar but, who knows, this might work to our advantage. Go Dodgers!!!!

  2. bluecrewgirl

I prefer James too, trublue. I’m not a big believer in the sitting lefties against lefties mentality. I think it lends to them not having confidence against left handed pitching. They need to get their at bats against them to figure things out. Andre had always hit lefties well, but struggled earlier in the year against them. When Joe started giving him some starts against them later in the season, he started to get back in the groove against them.

  3. colliethec

    Go Blue!!!!!
    .
I agree Jungar. Utley needs to eat some dirt.
    .
I was unhappy we didn’t brush someone back in the last game. Or at least put one in someone’s butt cheek.
    .
It might of been because you don’t want anyone being ejected/or suspended with it being a short series and all, but someone still should of at least gone down!
    .
    Let’s get this one tonight!

  4. trublu4ever

bluecrewgirl ~ Even if James goes 0 – 4, his defense is much better and, they say pitching and defense wins ballgames. I’m wearing Loney’s shirt today just for moral support. I also agree with you on the righty/lefty thing………Manny hits both as do most players.

  5. colliethec

Thanks Tru. I just added another one to one of the Philly fans giving him an invite over here.
    .
I’ve got to go for now but will be back.

  6. junkyardjamie

biddyboo – you must have scared away those Philly Phans – good for you…. now go back to studying.

Hey dcollins, bluecrewgirl and trublue!!! I am not sure what jungar said, but whatever it is I am sure it was worth the read. I will have to go see.

  7. crzblue2

    Hello IDT!
I got lots to catch up in the reading. I’ve been catching up on other things and I went shopping yesterday helping a friend find a dress for a wedding. I needed to stay away for a little bit but now I am going to get ready to head to the stadium. Wish I would have checked my emails yesterday and I would have been part of the big flag they will have at the stadium. oh well.
    .
I am excited and nervous but we will be there rooting our boys. I think I’ll get there at 3:pm for the 5:22 game and you can bet that like the other playoffs games, that there will be lots of people waiting outside for the gates to open. media should take pictures of that so they can see that a lot of us get there early and we leave late. I’ve left so late that the other night someone cut me off and then I noticed that it was Casey Blake. He pulled to the side. I think he was in the wrong lane to turn.
    .
    Let’s Go Dodgers! Let’s go!

  8. shad78

Nomar vs Loney against lhp = That’s a no brainer.
Nomar against Moyer batting .417 with a homerun vs Blake against Moyer 2 for 17 with 2 homeruns = Another no brainer.
Loney had 2 AB’s and is only 1 for 2. Damn sample size
Loney average this postseason against Blake numbers this posteason = Another no brainer.

Blake should sit, Nomar goes to 3rd and Loney have to played.

  9. scurtis1999

Is Garvey a nice man in person? I know he’s a ladies man, but I’ve seen him around at Chicago games when LA is in town but never got to actually meet him. Good ole #6

  10. crzblue2

Yes Scurtis, he is nice. I’ve talked to him several times at the 70’s and 80’s luncheon, at a WIN event and anytime I run into him in the club level.
    .
well go to go now. My brother is already ready!
    .
    Woohoo! Let’s go Dodgers!!!!

  11. trublu4ever

scurtis ~ Nellyae met Steve when they were in Las Vegas and she said he was very nice……….had a long chat and then he signed a book for her.

  12. junkyardjamie

…. and a picture and a baseball card :).. He was very nice, and I talked to him for about 15 minutes about the game that happened to be the day before. He was impressed I knew so much about the team. Then, we talked about my classroom, and he gave me the idea on how to do a ballpark a week in geography.

  13. scurtis1999

    Cool thanks. Good to know!

Yes Furcal needs to set the tone. I still don’t think he’s even 90 percent healthy, but that’s better then a Berroa.

  14. trublu4ever

Nellyae ~ I’m a bad girl, I’ve “engaged” with a Philly fan on Dre’s blog. Couldn’t help it……….but, I’m being very polite and to the point.

  15. trublu4ever

Nellyae ~ dcollins and I tried to get him to come over here but, he hasn’t done it yet. I guess “Brent” likes it better on Dre’s blog where most of the stuff is full of love and admiration.

  16. edog07

I would have rather had nomar in at third and loney at first. Casy Blake has not impressed me in the post season.

  17. northstateblues

I have to work at 5 today, but I”m hoping to find an am radio to listen to during work. Since Hershiser’s calling the game for ESPN Radio, should be a lot less grating than Tim McCarver.

Everyone going to the game, Give em hell!!

    GO DODGERS

  18. northstateblues

This ESPN article wasa good read. It’s about the Dodgers’ mood going into the game. Here’s an excerpt and the link:

    —————–

LOS ANGELES — Through the din of a clubhouse teeming with activity, struggling Los Angeles outfielder Matt Kemp on Saturday afternoon cautiously walked to his locker with slumped shoulders and a saddened demeanor.

Over two games in the National League Championship Series, both Dodgers losses against the Philadelphia Phillies, Kemp has managed one hit, two strikeouts and a misplay in the outfield.

“I knew it was going to be a bad day for Kemp,” Dodgers outfielder Andre Ethier remarked as Kemp stood quietly near his locker.

It was then when reserve infielder Delwyn Young used his pinky and forefinger to make a horn sign in Kemp’s direction, then ran over to the clubhouse computer and began to loudly play the University of Texas fight song.

Kemp, a devoted University of Oklahoma fan who had seen his football team lose against Texas on Saturday, assuredly costing the Sooners their No. 1 ranking, started smiling and then said, “The refs made a lot of bad calls in that game.”

A group in the corner of the Dodgers’ clubhouse began cackling because it was a college football game, not his slump, that had put Kemp in a bad mood.

  19. ninig17@yahoo.com

    hey everyone
The Haters are still running there mouths in Dre’s blog…. i think we should give them a heads up in where they need to be doing that at…..
    LETS GO DODGERS….. LETS GO…!!!!!

  20. junkyardjamie

Hey nsblues and pop legend Amy!!!! How are you doing today?

trublue and dcollins – I couldn’t resist ethier..

  21. amyw27

I’m sick. the real kind. can’t really get out of bed, don’t want to eat anything, can’t breath kinda sick.
    .
I have a ticket to the game tonight. I really have no business going out of the house, let alone a baseball game. But this is the NLCS. Never been here before. This is a huge deal. I am so torn. I don’t kno if I should cancel.. or just buck upp, put some clothes on and get to the stadium?!?!
    .
    😦 so sad.

  22. shad78

Damn posting on a 11 days old thread what a fool. I guess he think we’re not going to go back to that thread no more.

  23. amyw27

Denl- I knew you would understand. You are a mommy and a Dodger diehard. I can’t tell my real mom if I go. She would be upset that I wasn’t in bed all night.
So I should go meet up with Sara?
I had to toally leave Disneyland early. We only went on 3 rides and I felt soo ill. Today’s way worse. BUT this is the NLCS.
    .
shad- i think the last sick was a precurser to this sick. This time is real worse!!
    .
So I need to go??? is that the answer?

  24. northstateblues

😦 That’s not good, Amy. It’d be a tough choice for me too. it would depend probably on if you think you could last through the game or not.

I guess the way I’d think about it is: If you didn’t go, are you the kind of sick that you would regret not going, or the kind where you’re sure that you’d be putting yourself at a huge risk healthwise by going.

I’d say go, but I don’t know how sick you feel. Maybe think on it on a cup of tea or some soup (if you don’t eat or drink something, your body won’t have fuel to fight off the sickness)

  25. vl4ecc

Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well amy.
If it’s due to congestion, or cold/flu like symptoms, I have a suggestion. Many years ago, I was turned on to mexican style seafood aka Mariscos. A friend told me about a shell fish soup called siete mares (Seven Seas). As you probably know, shell fish are very high in zinc content, which is great to help battle cold & flu symptoms. The soup is very tasty, not to mention therapeutic. The reason it’s called this is because of it’s contents. Seven different kinds of shell fish, and white fish. Any time I feel a case of the crud coming on, I make an effort to go and get a Camaron coctail (shrimp), and the 7 seas. It sure seems to help me out alot.

  26. amyw27

I did eat some soup. I couldn’t finish it started to repulse me.
It was stomach on Friday, today is cold flu and extreme weakness.
Yea- I totally had to leave Disneyland without going on any of the rides. We were in line for the carousel and I had to sit down feeling sick. We left after 3 hours.
    .
At the game I will have a seat the whole time. That’s a plus. but it’s loud and full of people and energy, that could be bad.
    .
BUT I do have tickets for tomorrow and wednesday.
    .
    crap I hate this!

  27. junkyardjamie

You probably should ask sara if you can get a hold of her. She’s the one you have to sit next to… 🙂

  28. northstateblues

If you have tickets to game 4, maybe it’d be a good idea to stay home today, and work on getting well for the next two. If you go tonight, you would run the risk of getting sick to the point of wasting Games 4 and 5*.

    just a thought

    *-WHEN necessary

  29. vl4ecc

Amy~ Have you ever tried theraflu? Sounds like you have a really bad strain of something. I would see a Dr. ASAP, and at least get a Z-pac, or some strong antibiotics to help knock it out. I had something very similar to what you have now a couple of years ago. Started off like upset stomach symptoms, then fever, then all over body aches. I was hurting pretty bad. Erythromicyn (I know it’s misspelled!) and alot of rest & fluids for a few days, and I was better. Keep forcing the fluids, and get well soon.

  30. northstateblues

Alright, I’m gonna go kick back before work. Have fun tonight, everyone!

Get well soon, Amy, either way, you’re probably making at least 2 games 😀

  31. amyw27

vl4- thanks for the suggestions. I am doing what I can to take care of myself. I unfortunetly can’t see a doctor- the whole health insurance issue- we need a better system.
I am taking some over the counter medicines and trying to get all my fluids.
    .
I have waited 20 years I don’t want to regret it. Especially for the Dodgers, I’ve been supporting them all season long and I can’t stop now.
    .
    I hate feeling this bad.

  32. amyw27

yeah, i have the games this week anyway. I don’t want to let Sara down and I don’t want to let the boys down either.
    😦 sadness all around

  33. junkyardjamie

Amy ~ maybe once you are there, the adenalin will kick in and help. I got run an errand. Have a great time, and cheer on our boys for us!!!

    GO DODGERS!!!

  34. trublu4ever

Hi Amy ~ I’m so sorry you are still sick. If I was in your position, I think I’d stay home today and go tomorow. Having the flu and trekking through the parking lot, the large crowd, and especially people sitting near you eating all that junk food, would make me even sicker. Please take care of yourself.

  35. vl4ecc

Nelly ~ I’ve been exposed to alot of bad strains of flu over my years. One of my sisters is a trauma nurse (RN), so I look to her for alot of advice. When I was overseas, it was the absolute worst. Once a bad strain of crud gets started, sooner, or later, everyone gets it. That’s when I learned how valuable keeping a bottle of hand sanitizer with me could be. There was an outbreak of the ‘Norwalk Virus’ that everyone got. NASTY stuff. I don’t want to get too graphic, but to sum it up, no matter what you would eat would go right through you in a hurry. People falling out in the desert heat from the dehydration left & right. They ran out of IV’s in a hurry, and it caused wide spread panic. They had to air lift a bunch in a hurry from Germany. There were so many people down at one time, we were severely short staffed. It took a couple of months before things started getting back on track.

  36. amyw27

Sara is on her way to pick me up. I made my descision, it’s probably a bad one..but i can’t bear to miss this game. I am bringing my scarf and blanket and water and will be sitting down.
    .
thanks for everyone’s impute and concern. You guys are awesome 🙂
    .
Enjoy the game. I will be there now. I hope to catch up with yall tomorrow.
    .
Dnell- good job making a stand for the Dodger haters in the blog world.
    .
good night friends 🙂 I will take care of myself!!

  37. trublu4ever

jj ~ I used to do volunteer work at our local hospital and, that was when I started carrying hand sanatizer in my pocket. I didn’t even push the elevator buttons with my finger……used my elbow. They even say that when your kids come home from school, you should make them change their germ laden clothing.

  38. shad78

I can’t believe Neil Rackers did a onside kick when they scored 14-14 and give Dallas excellent field position.

  39. vl4ecc

You got that right tru. Kids are like little walking germ factories coming out of school. Look at all the nasty strains of strep throat these days. When I was a kid, it was never that bad. Sure there were some flu, measles, chicken pox, and mumps outbreaks from time to time, but some of the crap that goes around now is alot more devastating, and wide spread.

  40. trublu4ever

jj ~ My kinds were hardly ever sick either. I think a lot of parents both work these days and send their children to school when they should be home in bed. But, when I was at the hospital, every winter they would post a notice because of an outbreak of RSV virus, which can be fatal to some children……..I had never heard of that virus before. So, visitors under a certain age were not permitted above the ground floor. Not only that, about half a dozen or so children would come in to have tubes put in their ears………I had never heard or seen that done before. All my volunteer friends, and I would discuss all the unusual diseases that none of our families had ever experienced. It’s a different world we live in now.

  41. vl4ecc

Is it just me, or is there some really terrible officiating today in NFL games? Some really bad calls in this Cowgirls-Cards game.

  42. bluecrewgirl

Amy, take some zinc, vitamin C or Airborne and go to the game. You’ll feel better once you hear the roar of the crowd. And bring a warm jacket so you don’t get any sicker.

  43. biddyboo

Hey, y’all! Is it bad luck to wear an old Gagne jersey? The Dodger t-shirt is in the wash! What a Cowboy/Card game!

  44. bluecrewgirl

Biddyboo, I still have a Gagne shirt. Those were still fun and exciting times regardless of what we know now.

  45. junkyardjamie

jj – I am one of trublue’s kids, I have yet to take a flu shot, and I work with first graders. I very rarely get sick, and if I do, it’s only for a day or so, not much more than that. It is amazing how many cases of strep throat come thru the school, and we have even had a few cases of Scarlett Fever over the past two years. Pink eye is prevalent also.

  46. oldbrooklynfan

Thanks for the Phillies’ lineup, Josh.
It save a lot of time having it before the games starts if your keeping score. I generally run it batter to batter.
It’s nice to bring back the memories of Garvey, Lopes, Russell and Cey. Those were the days my friend.
And Happy Anniversary to that great game in ’88.
I feel we have the makings of a team, right now that can make us remember those days in a very special way– by winning.
Oh yes, one more thing, I’m glad to see Ethier batting in front of Manny, the difference has been like day and night. I hope he stays there no matter who is pitching to them.
Here’s to the 50 years the team has been in LA and to the previous time when they called my hometown, Brooklyn there home.
    GO DODGERS!!!!!!!

  47. junkyardjamie

Good Evening PierreEW!! It looks like you are ready for some Dodger Baseball!!!

GO DODGER BLUE ~ WE LOVE YOU!!!!

  48. biddyboo

joepierre- I apologize if this sounds like a dumb question but do you literally keep score of the entire game? On both sides of the team? I agree with you as well about Ethier before Manny. He rocks in that order!

  49. trublu4ever

JoePierre ~ Well said! We are probably the only two who are old enough to remember the good old days. I think this team we have now could have the makings of a great team for a long time.

  50. bluecrewgirl

I agree with you all, I think Andre should bat in front of Manny regardless of who pitches. He had been awesome in that spot.

  51. vl4ecc

Maybe Romo had Ms. Simpson on his mind clouding his judgement today. He’s going to spend alot of time in the whirlpool after the beating he took this game.
That was one crazy game! I caught glimpses of the last second wins from Houston, and Atlanta earlier. Talk about some amazing come back finishes. WOW!

  52. junkyardjamie

Redskins had the same fate unfortunately. Sadly missed an opportunity to be in first place in our division.

  53. oldbrooklynfan

I try to keep score as much as possible, It not only helps remember what actually took place but also the names of the players on opposing teams.
This has been a fantastic postseason so far, a lot better than some we’ve been in lately, like the past 20 years.

  54. vl4ecc

Nelly ~ Crazy day of upsets today! One one hand, I’m really bummed about the whipping the Saints put on the Raiders, but this loss for Dallas is HUGE. I still can’t believe the Rams pulled it out against the Skins either. With a Dodger victory tonight, it would put it over the top for sure.

  55. junkyardjamie

    GO DODGERS!!!!!
    GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!
GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!
GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!
    GO DODGERS!!!!! GO DODGERS!!!!!
    GO DODGERS!!!!!

  56. sl7180@hotmail.com

Another week another Raiders loss. Well at least they didn’t have a big lead this time. I still don’t think firing Kiffin was the problem. Like I said before the defense should get the blame.

  57. sl7180@hotmail.com

Some stupid announce said Loney is struggling, no he’s not probably a Philly fan. Did they forget going 3 for 7 in this series bumping his .214 to .286?

  58. sl7180@hotmail.com

hahahhahaha they shown 10 homeruns 29 rbi’s against Moyer. I hope Manny homerun 2 or maybe 3 tonight.

  59. vl4ecc

I sure hope Dewitt has a big breakout game tonight. He’s way past due. Ditto for Kemp, and Blake.
The bottom of the order has to step up.

  60. sl7180@hotmail.com

Damn Buck and Mccrevar(sp) again. We can’t book Hershiser or Vin or maybe Tommy. Rolllins and Howard 1 for 17 unbelieveable that don’t need their help so far.

  61. sl7180@hotmail.com

Opps added Kennedy to that list since he was a former Red Sox manager. He probably would love to manage Nomar, Lowe, Manny and all of the young talents we have on this team.

  62. vl4ecc

Kennedy coached the old Bakersfield Dodgers (A) to the Cal league championship a couple of times a while back. I remember seeing the Martinez brothers, Piazza, Karros, and Offerman playing when I lived there.

  63. obi_wen

” McCarver, it’s only the top half of the first inning you’re already on my last freakin’ nerve!”- Joe Buck Game 3 NLCS Thought Bubble

  64. junkyardjamie

Thank you PierreEW – I just love your stories, and I am so impressed with your love of the Dodgers as I am with many on this board. We have a great group of Dodger Fans here, and our boys will make us proud.

  65. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Good evening, ITD faithful. I see that most of the usual suspects are all shining faces and all in their places…..nelly, great post on Dre’s blog. All those Philly types will be singing a different tune after tonight. I do hope that Amy isn’t risking her health by going but I definitely would go too if I was up to it. Looking for a big night from our boys. GO DODGERS!!!!

  66. bluecrewgirl

I don’t have a problem with umps no giving outside corners as long as they’re consistent, but he is being a lot more generous with Moyer so far than Kuroda.

  67. bluecrewgirl

That cracks me up that they were just playing the Rocky music when they went to the break. It fits since the Dodgers need to come from behind, with hopefully the same outcome.

  68. bluecrewgirl

They do seem to be targeting Russ. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt, but we do need to let them know we’re not going to take it.

  69. oldbrooklynfan

What I can’t understand is, Why are the Phillies, up 2-0, starting this thing?
What do they have to be mad about?

  70. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

The Phillies are crybabies. They can’t handle it when it’s being done to them!!!! Kuroda took care of it. Now we’ve got to settle down and win the game.

  71. kpookiemon

With Philly down big, a pitcher gettting tossed (and manager), won’t mean much to them. VERY INTERESTING. Phils woke us up big time!

  72. bluecrewgirl

JJ, that song would be perfect! Oh well, I think the Dodger’s perceiving all of the drama as the Phillies not respecting them could work in their favor.

  73. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

You’re right, Pierre. Not too smart of the Phillies to stir up things when you’re up 2-0. Let sleeping dogs lie.

  74. junkyardjamie

As much grief as we have been giving Sweeney this year, I am so glad to see him in the dugout as part of the team. That is a team player. Where’s Andruw? Where’s Brad?

  75. vl4ecc

Another 1-2-3. Kuroda tonight reminds me a bit of Fernando in his prime the way he gets tougher to score on as the game goes on. Bit of a shaky start, then getting into a groove like this.

  76. oldbrooklynfan

All this crap started on Friday.
The Dodgers never retaliated after the pitch to Ramirez, than went back to LA down 0-2.
The Phillies continue to throw at our hitters.
I would think the Dodgers would’ve came out nasty, not the Phillies.

  77. oldbrooklynfan

Kemp beat the throw and Jimmy never tagged him after he slid past the bag.
But the score is 7-1. All I want more than anything else are Phillie outs.

  78. oldbrooklynfan

That was a close pitch by Kuroda to Victorino, I’m glad he didn’t have to pay for it. Ump knows what’s up.

  79. bluecrewgirl

Kuroda pitched great, but I’m glad Joe took him out at the first sign of trouble. Hopefully Wade can restore order.

okay so this game is amazing!!! all our support payed off!! our boys are awesome!!! well… I’m about to leave my friends house to head for the airport.. I’m so happy to be coming home but i’m so sad i’m leaving Hawaii!! and all my friends over here!!! well… here goes another 5 and a half hour flight.. HOME/LA/DODGERS HERE I COME!!!! hehe! GO DODGERS!!!!!!

    .
Acardona/Acardy= Ethieraholic and dodger fan for life!!!!!!

  81. trublu4ever

jj ~ I agree! Some of the adults should take the hint and just sing the song the way it was intended, instead of putting their own spin on it.

  82. bluecrewgirl

DNelly, I’ve been checking the Chargers game during the commercials and they’re kicking butt. You should get some good fantasy points from Rivers.

  83. junkyardjamie

bluecrewgirl – I have too, and I have their defense for fantasy and that stop at goal line was Fabulous!!! They are kicking butt – yeah!!!! I have Rivers too 🙂 Chambers is not playing though 😦

  84. vl4ecc

Seating capacity there used to be 56,000 before they added those extra seats in what used to be foul ground. Sometimes I miss that extra space. Alot of popup outs were lost when they did that.

  85. northstateblues

Nothing like coming home to a grade A @$swhoopin’!!! So, can someone fill me in on the Drysdale-esque episodes during the game?

    GO DODGERS

  86. junkyardjamie

Martin was hit in the knee and then had a near miss. Kuroda went after Victorino’s head – did Dodger Blue proud

  87. northstateblues

THe one thing that I ask is that you don’t throw at my head. Hit me anywhere else, don’t throw at my head” – Shane Victorino in post-game interview

Just like Dom DeLuise in Blazing Saddles “NOT IN THE FACE!!” heheheh.

Throw out your hands, stick out your tush
Hands on your hips, give em a push
Do it again, and you’re doing the Philly Mistake, VOILA

  88. vl4ecc

56,800 is quite a crowd! Of course the cameras scanning the stadium saw them thin out after the eighth. Those east coasters don’t realize the lack of public transportation in the LA basin.

  89. junkyardjamie

PierreEW – you have got that right!! We needed that win, and the Dodgers came through and proved this series is not over.

  90. northstateblues

Heheh Nelly, That’s all I could think of when he said that.

Buncha babies “WAAAAH!!!!!!!!! You’re not supposed to throw back!!!!!!!!! WAAAAH!!!!”

All those PHilly phans using those towels to mop up their tears and runny mascara now, ehehehehehehehh~!

  91. junkyardjamie

JJ – If they are going to use who is at Dodger Stadium as an example of a Dodger fan than they are sadly mislead. There are thousands upon thousands of Dodger fans sitting right in front of their tvs just like us.

  92. northstateblues

I dedicate this to any Philly phan who thinks that they got the short end of the stick after throwing at our guys 3 times (and Russ twice). Should be familiar to Rocky fans:

    Trying hard now
    It’s so hard now
    Trying hard now

    Getting bombed now
    Won’t be long now
    Getting bombed now

    Gonna cry now
    Crying hard now
    Gonna cry, cry, cry…

  93. junkyardjamie

I think Amy is feeling pretty good right now too sparkleplenty. I have to keep reminding myself that you are diggie now 🙂

  94. northstateblues

thanks. I’m kinda angry at Philly right now. So angry, in fact, that this diehard Raiders fan was a screaming FortyWhiners fan for a day (Against the Eagles), but of course they couldn’t get that right either, heheh.

Yeah diggie1, I’m guessing Amy doesn’t know she’s sick right now. Good for her!

  95. sparkleplenty_1

Yeah, I do too – lol. Actually it’s a very old family nickname. And I have NO idea why it’s my handle now. Strange happenings to say the least.

  96. northstateblues

(and I”ll be singin those lyrics every time FOX plays the Rocky theme inbetween innings. And Philly phans are unoriginal. ‘cmon, “beat LA”?!!!!!!!!! That’s the best you could come up with? What’s next? hearing them chanting “Potvin Sucks”?!!!!)

  97. colliethec

I don’t dislike “The Pocket Knife”, but why was he complaining about not being thrown at his head, especially after the pitches were thrown at Russ high & tight.
    .
The pitch to him was about as high over his head as one would be if it was high & over the plate. Basically it was about the same distance away from him as the ones at Russ.

  98. colliethec

Any one notice that during the little bench clearer that they were playing “Why can’t we be friends” over the loudspeaker?
    .
    That’s pretty classic.

  99. junkyardjamie

dcollins – I think once he goes back and sees the highlight, he will realize it was pretty high above his head. I mean, it really wasn’t as close as he thinks.

  100. northstateblues

dcollins, they played that? Cool! Of course, a song called “Why Can’t We Be Friends” by a band named WAR is genius in itself

  101. junkyardjamie

I am sure our ITD fans will have many stories to share when they get back. That place looked electric tonight!!!

  102. colliethec

I would imagine it gets the blood pumping though. I can understand him not being happy but then he needs to get mad at his pitchers.
    .
Also he said Hero was saying something to him as he went down the baseline and it looked to me as if he was doing the talking as Hero turned to walk away and then Hero went walking towards him saying something.

  103. colliethec

What Russ said was correct though. It’s in the past. That was good old country hardball and it’s time for them to get locked in for tomorrow.
    .
I think it just came a few innings to late. It should of happened in game #2.

  104. northstateblues

Just saw a clip of the benches clearing and Manny getting fired up. I LOVE IT!!! (just nobody get suspended).

  105. junkyardjamie

However, Lowe looked pretty PO’d after Russell was hit. It will be interesting to see how he approaches tomorrow.

  106. junkyardjamie

nsblues – that was pretty good – It is what they needed to get fired up.

seesky – I checked a few mintues ago, and all was clear on Andre’s blog, but that can change at a moments notice 🙂

  107. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

nelly, I checked, too. It might be interesting to read what’s being said on their blogs. Think I’ll take a look.

  108. junkyardjamie

The forum I read, she blames the loss on the fact that the Phillies may have been star struck playing in LA, and she’s trying to defend their pitchers saying they would never hit anybody intentionally, and calling our players a bunch of children. Well if movie stars are going to distract you from a game, wouldn’t you call that pretty child-like.

  109. junkyardjamie

What’s being said is nothing and simply boring. There’s one thing about this forum, it is never boring.

  110. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

I didn’t read that one. That’s pretty bizarre!!! There wasn’t much going down on either of the two I read. Only the usual yada yada about the pitch thrown at Victorino, which wasn’t even that close. I guess the ones that were out last night must’ve crawled back, like joeyp, under their rocks.lol!!!!

  111. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Yeah, Nelly, we’re a lot more interesting than any of the other MLB blogs I’ve read. Phillies, Cubs, whomever.

  112. junkyardjamie

Yeah – when you start thinking Henry Winkler, Tiger Woods and other stars might be the reason your team lost, you might want to join the Cubs fans with all the bad omens. That is one thing we can say about us and the Dodgers, when they play like crap they know and we know it. There are no superstitions, good/bad omen or karma, or because the stars happen to come out. It’s just a loss, pure and simple.

  113. junkyardjamie

That is something that ITD does lack, bloggers willing to tell it like it is and sometimes in the most ingenious ways too.

  114. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Yeah, nelly. No excuses. When we’re good, we’re good. And when we’re not , we’re not. Then, we b@!$ch!!!!

  115. junkyardjamie

We are pretty creative in the b*tching and complaining department. There are about 400+ songs, along with all the thought bubbles, etc doing that very nicely I might add.

  116. northstateblues

seeing celebs caused the Phillies to lose?!!! well, maybe they’re not cut out for a championship, because as I recall, the reason Joe Montana and the Whiners won the Super Bowl against the Bengals was because Montana pointed in the crowd and said “Hey, see that? It’s John Candy!”

The Whiners settled down, came back and won the Super Bowl. I guess the Phils blush, giggle, and write down “I ❤ Tiger” in pink pen on their Trapper Keepers while batting their eyes?

  117. junkyardjamie

In good and bad, we have one of the best blogs around. The people on here know how to keep it fresh and entertaining at all times during the day.

  118. seeskybout2rain@comcast.net

Well, nothing to complain about tonight. Looking forward to squaring this series at 2 apiece tomorrow night. Good night, nelly and anybody else still hanging out here in ITD land. I’m looking forward to hearing stories from those who were at the game.

  119. bluecrewgirl

I was reading on Dodger Thoughts that some of the Philly plans were complaining that if we were going to retaliate, we should have done it against Howard or one of their physically bigger players. Give me a break. They threw it over Manny’s head in game 2 the same way and then hit Russ once and threw it over his head the 2nd time. The Dodgers would have come across as soft not to do something.

  120. trublu4ever

nellyae ~ I’m waiting for my “friend” Brent to show up on Andre’s blog and tell me again that the Phillies from top to bottom are a better team than our Dodgers. Let’s see if he has the guts to face the music!

  121. northstateblues

Wonder what Sandy Koufax thought in Philly on Friday, with them throwing at us. Sandy never threw at anyone (well, once from what I read. Regular ITD Bloggers, get on Half.com or ebay or amazon and find “True Blue: an oral history of the Los ANgeles Dodgers”, I swear you won’t be disappointed). But that’s mostly because he would’ve killed them.

  122. junkyardjamie

LOL!!!!! nsblues – you are too funny!!

trublue – all is quiet on Andre’s blog so far – just the normal stuff about how awesome they were tonight.

Good night seesky!!! Thanks for checking out the blogs – we definitely have them beat in fun and creativity.

  123. park

Joe Torre finally gets the LCS victory that has eluded him ever since Dave Roberts’ now-famous pinch-running appearance for Boston in ’04.

How many teams have come back from 3-0? One.
How many teams have come back from 2-1? Don’t know but a heck of a lot more than one!

    Let’s get ’em tomorrow!!

  124. trublu4ever

They said that Manny was upset with Chad for not throwing at someone the previous game. Do you think that it is true, or are they just trying to make news?

  125. junkyardjamie

trublue – you kind of wonder, though, if Chad were having a better game, he might have been more likely to do something. I think for him, it was just a matter of getting through the innings. Don’t you? I think it’s the media stirring it up.

  126. northstateblues

thinking along the vein of Victorino as Dom DeLuise in Blazing Saddles, I can’t believe I didn’t include this part:

:: gasp :: “They threw at Shane?!! LET’S GET ‘EM, GIRLS!!!!!!!!!”

  127. bluecrewgirl

DNelly, yes, I was happy about the Chargers. too. They really needed the win tonight too. Can’t wait for tomorrow night’s game. If they tie it 2-2, it’s a whole new ballgame.

  128. trublu4ever

I agree, dnelly. I do think I read somewhere that Chad tried to do something but couldn’t get the pitch where he wanted it. The whole idea of him trying to retaliate may have caused him to lose concentration on his pitches.

  129. perumike

Good evening everyone! Great win tonight, great to see the Dodgers putting up a fight with their bats and pitching, as well as defending each other! Everyone have sweet Dodger dreams!

  130. junkyardjamie

Good Late Night Piano Man!!! It was a great night for Dodger baseball. Fabulous win, and yes, it was good to see the boys fight back, literally..

  131. jungar@wsgcorp.com

Martin must be like whatever Victorinio if your gonna complain about being thrown up at your head ( I can break your ribs to since you seem to want that so badly) then tell your pitcher, er..manager to throw at someone besides the guy setting the target. I can’t believe they complain. I was outraged at them throwing behind Manny.

  132. colliethec

So I think a big thing that happened tonight and I haven’t seen brought up was Furcal. I really think him getting this team started is one of the keys for us to continue to win.
    .
I really hope that Joe keeps the same lineup tomorrow but has Loney back in there.
    .
Nomar also did a very good job as he has for most of the season when he hasn’t been injured. He has had some big at bats and some clutch hits.
    .
Everybody have a great day tomorrow and keep the faith.
    .
We just need to win tomorrows game!
    .
    Go Blue!!!!

  133. northstateblues

why did I have to work at 5 today?!!! Just finished watching all the highlight clips on MLB.com, and I feel like I’ve missed the biggest Dodgers game of the last 2 decades. Hopefully by the end of the week, there’ll be more biggest games of the last 2 decades.

  134. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

hey all! tonight was FUN 🙂

but in all honesty, the crowd wasn’t nearly as involved as the NLDS game against the cubs.. i don’t know if it’s because that was the first playoff game, or if it’s because it was the cubbies, or because we were up in the series trying to clinch.. but regardless, it was pretty quiet most of the day aside from the beginning, the “fight”, and of course the end..

i know they announced the crowd of 56,800.. but that could be inflated because there were quite a few empty seats.. and they took an entire infield reserved section for extra media people..

amy in all her sickness, went to the game and tried to have fun.. she was fine at the beginning, but was too worn down at the end.. hopefully she’ll feel better after sleeping tomorrow because we have another game to get to tomorrow!!

  135. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

eric, if you’re there somewhere, you got your wish and bill plaschke’s wish.. kuroda took care of any doubt and showed that we are not afraid to come in on them too! too bad russell kept getting beat up in the process.. i felt so bad because he was so banged up.. but it’s down to the end of the season and he will gut it out regardless!

dnelly, like we said this morning.. we should let our boys do the talking for us.. and clearly, they did today 🙂

  136. junkyardjamie

Yes, they sure did sara – they stuck it to the Phillies good tonight. Let’s hope they can repeat the performance tomorrow. Thanks for your update, and I hope Amy is getting rest.

  137. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

i’m sure she is.. i think her only plan was to sleep, sleep, and sleep more.. haha

did you see russell’s frustration when he got that pitch up and in? he slammed his helmet to the ground after he grounded in to the DP, and then threw his stuff all around the dugout.. i can’t believe he got hit twice and almost hit another time.. they need to leave our captain russell alone!

  138. junkyardjamie

I am sure you saw more of his frustration then we did on tv, but yes, we could tell he was pretty upset. Well, then seesky and I went reading the Phillies blogs claiming that their pitchers wouldn’t never intentionally hit anybody. Yea right, and that what Russell and Kuroda did was inexcuseable. They have know idea what they are talking about.

  139. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

kuroda definitely did what he HAD to do.. i doubt he meant the pitch to be at victorino’s head.. but he was trying to go up and in and it probably slipped a little bit closer than he had intended.. but after they’ve thrown at us all series, it needed to be done..

i just feel bad for billingsley.. because i think he feels bad that he didn’t take care of it the other day.. and that kuroda had to clean up his mess for him.. and then everyone keeps asking chad about it, and then i think they’ve been saying that manny was angry with chad for not retaliating.. poor kid.. not only did he have a bad day pitching.. everyone is acting like he committed baseball sin 😦

  140. junkyardjamie

The one thing we did see on tv was Derek Lowe’s face when Russell was hit in the knee. He was not happy. I know they say it’s over and that it’s back to business as usual, but I don’t know… Derek seemed pretty ticked that they treated the Captain like that. As for Chad, I hope this is just media hype. He was having a hard enough time just trying to get through the innings, and maybe if he were pitching better, he would have taken his shot. That would be sad if they are making him feel the pressure of something like that. We need the good Chad for his next outing so they better make sure he is well taken care of before then.

  141. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

i’m just glad we’re going with the short rotation so that lowe and chad both get the chance to pitch at home

  142. saralovesrussell@losangeles-dodgers.net

alright dnelly.. it’s been a long day.. i must go to bed now.. have a good night!! and as you would say, sweet dodger dreams 🙂

  143. shad78

I love to see players stats against a players and fun some interested stats there. Blake is 1 for 21, Kent 5 for 6 and Nomar 3/9 against Blanton. This might get a little bit sloppy since I can’t seem to put paragraph no more since the next format. I’m going to listed the players on the team who have AB’s against Blanton and on the playoff roster.

Good morning nelly. Great win last night. Well, the Redskins, and Cowboys didn’t fare very well. Cowboys and Redskins both played terrible. We can’t get further behind the Giants or we’ll be in trouble.
    >
Have a great day. We’ll get win #2 tonight.

  146. junkyardjamie

Good Morning, ITD writers and readers!!!

Fabulous game last night played by all, and what needed to be done was done, so hopefully the Dodgers will just move on, business and usual, and get rid of this Phillies team so we can move onto the World Series.

Boblee – absolutely horrible games played by the Redskins and Cowboys yesterday. However, the Chargers and their big win last night really helped in my fantasy league.

Have a wonderful day everyone, and I will check in when I can!! GO DODGERS!!!!!!

dnelly, June Darlin’, Junie, Miss Debbie, mom, Mrs. Nelson, nelle, nells, nelly, nellygirl and nellyjune ~ Ethieraholics and ready for some more Dodger Baseball

Good morning ~ Loved the fire in our team last night! I think we have the upper hand now, especially with Lowe going tonight.

  148. jhallwally

Good morning True Bluers!!! Out of town all weekend. Glad to see the Dodgers come out firing last night. Got to sweep these guys at home. Hope you all had a great weekend. Catch you tonight. GO DODGERS!!!!

  149. dodgereric

    Gooooood morning ITD!!!!!

Great game last night, to say the least.

Yes, I’m glad that SOMEBODY finally stepped up to protect our hitters. All praise to Ninja Kuroda! I just wouldn’t have picked the little centerfielder. It should have been Utley or Howard that went down last night, one of their big guys. Shoot, it SHOULD have been MYERS! Looking back on things in Game 2, I think that it’s not much of a coincidence that Billz fell apart after Myers hit that first run-scoring single of his in the second inning. I don’t think that he was having control issues. That wasn’t why Myers didn’t go down. IMO, I don’t think Billz was mentally ABLE to throw at Myers. I doubt that he’s ever done it before. But I tell you now, he had better learn. He’s got the size and the stuff to be intimidating enough. He doesn’t have to do it all the time, he just needs to be known as someone who WILL protect his teammates when necessary. He’s on center stage right now. The baseball world is watching. It’s probably too late now to do anything about what has already happened, but you’d better believe that if he has another opportunity like Game 2 and passes it up again, his buddies will lose ALL respect for him. Quick TV show analogy:

Way back when, when Happy Days was a good show, Richie was being bullied. He asked The Fonz to help him out, but The Fonz knew that Richie had to do this for himself and told him to stand up and the guy will back down. Richie stood up to the bully and the bully cleaned his clock. Richie then asked The Fonz what went wrong. He said something like, “Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that once in your life you had to have hit somebody.”

Maybe it was only a dumb ol’ TV show, but that lesson is true. It’s true for boys as they grow up (like it or not) and it’s true in Billz’ situation. He had better knock someone down the next time that it’s called for and guys like Ramirez and Nomar and Maddux and Lowe and Torre and Bowa and Sweeney had better let him know about it.

Regarding Russell’s post-game comments, if he had said anything other than what he did, he and/or Ninja would have been suspended. Never admit the obvious truth. If you do, you leave the League Office no choice. You can even have a smile on your face as you’re lying, just don’t EVER admit that you’re throwing at someone.

For all you Phillie fans out there: YOUR TEAM SCARES NO ONE!! YOU CAN TALK ALL YOU WANT, BUT YOUR TEAM HAS WALKED THE WALK ONLY ONCE IN 125 YEARS!! WHY SHOULD ANYONE EVER TAKE YOU SERIOUSLY???

WE ARE GOING TO BEAT YOU AGAIN TODAY WITH LOWE!

WE ARE GOING TO BEAT YOU AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY WITH BILLZ!!

AND THEN WE ARE GOING TO COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND CELEBRATE OUR FIRST NATIONAL LEAGUE PENNANT IN 20 YEARS RIGHT THERE IN THE SHADOW OF YOUR PRECIOUS ROCKY STATUE!!

  150. junkyardjamie

Oh!!! I am sooo sorry jhall – I didn’t see you up there. Good Morning!!!! It sounds like you had a very full weekend. I hope it was a good one. See you later!!!!!!!! Michael’s pitching tonight, but I should be home before the end of the game. I hope to see you there. Missed you last night at the end with Broxton closing up shop. 🙂

    Hello ITDers,
    .
I have been left with two extra tickets to tonight’s game. I’m looking to pass them on for what I paid. Infield Reserve, Aisle 15, Row H. You’ll be sitting with me, and singing the James Loney Song (if you want). If anybody’s interested, email me at martinloneykemp@hotmail.com.
    .
    GO BLUE!!

  152. knouffbrock@frontiernet.net

I grew up watching Juan Marichal, Ryne Duren, and our man, Drysdale pitch, so maybe you can forgive me if it seems some of our youngsters are a little slow responding to these dust-offs from the Phillies.
It’s true, however, that no more pressure should be put on Billz about the game he pitched. I’m sure he gets it by now.
I thought it ironic that Bowa and
Lopes had switched unis 30 yrs. later and were yelling at each other
    Great post, Eric

All I can say is Yaaaaaaaaay. I agree with Pierre ew, It was the best game I’ve seen this season complete with the bench clearing. The game ended with someone taking a plunge from the loge section to field section, supposedly he lost his balance. There were a lot of words between the so called witnesses and the police. The witnesses were surprisingly unpleasant and hostile. I wonder what happened. The victim was sitting up in a seat and was talking so hopefully he’s okay. I am going again tonight and am anticipating another exciting game with my favorite D Lowe pitching. I hope I have a chance to talk to him and wish him luck. He’s back at Dodger Stadium so it will be ok. Kuroda was awesome last night, boy, did he show his stuff. And Moyer looked overmatched. Our guys looked fantastic. The crowd was fired up. I sat down only about 25 per cent of the time. The rest of the time I was on my feet with everyone else screaming and cheering. It was a game to remember. I was texting a good friend of mine in hopes I could give her a little more than just watching on television. How I wish she could have been there. So tonight we will do it again and totally show the Phillies who are the champs. GO DODGERS!

  155. thinkingblue

    Good Morning ITD!
Last nights games was an awsome game, Hollywood like with all the drama. Are boys played with confidence and with lots of attitude.
    .
DON’T MESS WITH THE JAPANESE PIMP! Kuroda was great, even at home we gave him a standing ovation…well deserve. The Phillies want to play dirty…we won’t let it happen. MANNY, DUNCAN, MARTIN & KURODA BIG APPLAUSE! I was just wondering WHERE WAS KENT! He likes to talk. I did agree with Victorino, not the head…but not the knees either…payback is a B!t@#.
    .
Next time all the players decide to clear the benches. The ones throwing punches (if it gets to that) should be Sweeney, Jones, Pierre…well the non-active ones…Manny should be the last one. I’m glad he was held back (took about 6 guys).
    .
The game was full of celebrities. I was surprise to see Tiger Woods (Tiger Woods Ya’ll) there. I always thought he was more on an Angel’s Fan…but Champions stick with the Champions!
    .
GOOD LUCK TONIGHT! We are ready for win #2.
    GO DODGERS!

    Hello ITD !!
    .
    Dodgerrule,
I’ve known Tiger Wood is a Dodger fan ever since I read a story where he got an autograph of Sandy Koufax. He was asked about that and he said something like “How about that~ I’ve been a Dodger fan all my life….”
    .
Great game yesterday! I spent practically the entire game standing up which is OK since I sit in the last row. I’ve be getting up dancing with the entrance music of each player in particular Manny, Furcal and Ethier.
    .
They did tributes on the screen of Fernando, Tommy which is always great to see over and over, but this time they included our own Sweet Lou!! Sweet Lou was signing autograph in Autograph Alley.
    .
The song of “Why can’t we be friends” was funny after the clearing of the benches. We were laughing about it in our section. Our bullpen was there way before the Phillies bullpen.
    .
The entire aisle 3 in the Reserved was reserved for the media. They attached TV’s to the sides and also something infront where the media could write.
    .
    JOSH!!!
Question: What happens to fans that have/had tickets in that section?
    .
I am working 1/2 today and 1/2 vacation in order to get to the stadium as early as possible. I have a couple of hours before I get there so I’ll think of something to do before the gates open.
    .
I have a lady’s Dodger shirt underneath a blue vest over it which I will remove and put my Jackie Robinson jersey. It getting a little chilly at night with the Santa Ana winds so I got my Dodger poncho in the car. The smoke was preety bad this morning driving on the 5/118. I could not take the 210 as they closed part of the way because of the fires. The sky looked very gray driving in and you could smell the smoke. Even looking out the window here from Chatsworth I can see the grey sky from all the smoke. I hope people living close the fires are OK.
    .
    Amy,
I hope you are feeling better.
    .
    LET’S GO DODGERS! LET’S GO. LET’S GO D.LOWE!!

ACARDONA – Welcome back to Cal. I hope yesterdays game was a great welcome home celebration!
    .
EMMA – That’s good to know that Woods is a True Dodger fan. Haahaa my father-in-law is a big Tiger Woods fan and sad to say, but a big Angels fan…I can aggravete him with this now. I love my father in law but I do it for fun. He is cheering for the Dodgers to win. It seems that my mother-in-law is a Dodgers fan…thanks to Steve Garvey.

LMAO!!!! Is Phan back whining again!!! Oh no – do we have to remind Phan – 10,000 losses and one championship in 125 years – oh my goodness – the joy of it all. Once again, Phan, thanks for helping ITD reach #1 status. We are the best you know 🙂

Good Afternoon wonderful ITD faithfuls – you all look fabulous today. mlk – I so wish I could go and sing the “James Loney Song” with you – that would be most fun.

xoxrussell – great post this morning 🙂

Rose – the lil Kempers and Ethieraholics are doing wonderful. They all came in this morning knowing the Dodgers had won, and some of their parents were pretty impressed that they knew who the players were too. The bench clearing did add to the excitement, but I told them it certainly did. They were also commenting on the Red Sox/Rays game on Saturday so baseball itself is becoming something that they are taking notice of.

Phan is a Phillies Phan that was on here yesterday morning, and it looks like this morning about 9:48. Biddyboo, Sara and I had fun yesterday morning with it. It was good rivalry fun for the most part, unlike the joeyp behavior on Andre’s blog the night before.

good morning/ afternoon to my friends.
    .
I am back in action. I slept for 13 hours, just milling around and resting until tonight.
    .
Last night, I should have stayed home. But it was an amazing game. I am happy that we won, that we are on the right track to go to the WS. But one game at a time. I am happy with that. Saving my energy for game 4. We are about to tie up the series today~~
    .
    Go Blue!

  163. thinkingblue

Oh man I missed the Philly fan…it would of been so much fun talking to that person…he or she will not show up again…we will go “KURODA” on him….don’t mess with the Dodgers.
    .
It’s good to know that the Lil’ Kempers and Mini-etheiraholics and learning a lot about baseball. I’m right there with them. I’ve been watching the game all my life, but this is the first year I actually got into and learned a lot. Thanks to my husband, cousins, my nephews and all ITD here, I’ve learned a lot.
    .
AMY – sucks to be sick, nothing will keep us away from the Dodgers game, through poor & riches, sickness and healt…we will always be there for the Dodgers. I was also sick this weekend, but I rested during the day, so during game time I will be up and alive. Well at home.

    We collectively LOL’d at you.

  165. junkyardjamie

phan52 – I laugh at the wave too, and I am a Dodger fan, and most of us here can’t stand the beach balls. Thanks again for posting 🙂
