Football season has passed…
Quite a finish for the football season…marking the beginning of baseball season, as far as I’m concerned. I know we all debate the Hot Stove League throughout the winter, but now that the Superbowl is over, everyone’s attention can officially shift to Spring Training.

As for the difficulty in getting Coliseum tickets, I certainly understand the frustration of those who couldn’t get tickets and I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to find a way to get all of you to the game. There was certainly no intention to price our fans out of the game, as suggested. Season ticket holders have always received the best benefits, which is the same way it works for almost all sports teams in America. We knew that this game had extremely high demand and with 3.8 million tickets sold in 2007, it would be tough to accomodate everyone who wants to attend that game. I do know that all the fans who came down to Dodger Stadium were able to purchase tickets, but I know that doesn’t make it any better for those who couldn’t do so. Please stay tuned for more information in the event that we are somehow able to release more tickets.

That was an exciting Superbowl game. First it was all defense and than in the end both teams offense took over. I didn’t know whether I wanted to see the Pats go undefeated or root for my home town Giants(who really perform their home games in New Jersey), but that’s a lot closer than LA anyway. Like you say Josh, Let’s put football to sleep, the days have been getting longer since January and you people out west have already started. Of course our coldest month in the east has just come upon us. We’re waiting for the snow.
does anybody think that it is time for the dodgers to change up their uniforms??

Yes, the football season is over. It was a tremendous classic game, one that will go down as one of the greatest upsets ever. It’s probably the only time in my life I ever rooted for a team from New York (actually New Jersey). With that said, it’s TIME FOR DODGER BASEBALL! And I cannot wait to hear that. Spring training games begin in 3 1/2 weeks and something tells me you’ll be getting Spring Training play by play from yours truly as often as I can with my schedule. I really enjoyed doing it last year as did many others I recall, so I’ll do it again this year. I’m really looking forward to this season like the rest of you.

With all the Santana hype, it sounds like the Mets have already been annointed [at least] division champs… yesterday’s Super Bowl is a vivid reminder that you STILL have to go out and play the game…
jhall – referring to Pierre’s question, the only reason I don’t think Ethier has a breakout year is because with JP still around, he won’t get the opportunity. Lose JP and I think he puts up some real solid numbers.

Good stuff Mike. I enjoyed reading your review and pretty much agree with it. Let’s just pray that Torre does the right thing and starts Ethier in left. It makes us much better defensively and offensively. If we need a stolen base late in a game, bring in Pierre as a pinch runner. Much like Dave Roberts with the Red Sox. That is really his only value.
Also, I am very happy that the Giants whipped the Goliath Patriots. Belichek is a loathsome person.
My biggest fear with this disjointed ST all over the world is that JP has a good spring and Torre ends up trying to platoon Kemp & Ethier.
It is a darn shame that the possibility exists for Pierre to get the left field job because of his big contract and Ned’s ego. Everyone in baseball knew Ned was a fool when he inked that contract. Pierre is our curse of JD Drew.
As much as I disliked Princess Drew, we would have actually been better off if he had stayed and we did not sign Pierre.
I guess the moral of the story is; “Be careful what you wish for”.
I was ecstatic when Drew opted out and left. However, had I known Ned would then counter with perhaps one of the worst signings in Dodger history, I would not have liked it. Princess ******, but she wasn’t as bad as Pierre. He truly bites.

I’m not a Drew fan by any means, but to say he *******” is revisionist all the way. The guy basically carried us with his bat in September 2006.
Gurnick’s a little off in this statement: “Since general manager Ned Colletti was hired, the club has not signed anybody longer than three years.”
Guess even Gurnick would like to forget about JP…
I think Gurnick was just referring to pitchers. Then again, he’s an idiot, so who knows.

I am one of many frustrated by the lack of tickets available for the game at the Coliseum. I cannot afford season tickets, and so am frequently left behind. At 10:00 when tickets went on sale, the only ones left were very far from the field. Now, I see many tickets being sold on Ebay and places for much higher prices. Those season ticket holders obviously did not need all those tickets.

He can earn an extra $750,000 in incentives. It’s still a very cheap deal for a guy who had a 3.79 ERA in 76 innings last season. Everyone must have caught on to the fact that he never has back-to-back good seasons.
