Brazoban is back

We have recalled Yhency Brazoban from Las Vegas and put Chin-hui Tsao on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain. Hopefully we’ll have more information from Grady once he talks to the media but I wanted to at least let the masses know first.

Also, I just came from a lunch in the dugout club with Grady and Ned that was held for the people who have the baseline box seats and it was a really nice Q&A format. A lot of questions got asked from fans just like you to both the GM and manager and they did a very good job answering as candidly as they could. There was one question about our move to SF that Grady and Ned weren’t sure of the answer, so on the off chance that this gets back to the guy who asked it, here’s the scoop.

The question was if the rumor is true that when the Dodgers and Giants moved West in 1958, the two teams went into a room and flipped a coin to see who would go to SF and who would come to LA. Grady deferred to me and I told them that I had never heard that before but I wanted to be sure. I’ve now confirmed with team historian Mark Langill that there is no truth to it. So, for what it’s worth, you can pass that around to anyone who asks.

Lineup coming later…

About the Dodgers and Giants moving west, I remember the subject was brought up in the book “True Blue” by Steve Delshon (I think that’s the author’s name). What it says in the book is that O’Malley took Horace Stoneham (Giants Owner) out to lunch, during which Stoneham had a few martinis (as he was known to do, a quote from one of the people interviewed said “You could get Mays and McCovey for a second baseman if you asked at the right time of day”).

Then, O’Malley took Stoneham out to Candlestick Point, in the middle of December. The temperature was around 60 degrees, not even a slight breeze in the air, as is typical for that time of year, and O’Malley broached the question of whether he’d like the Giants to move there. Of course, Stoneham said yes, as San Francisco was the bigger name in California at the time (though I’m sure L.A. was coming to about even at that point. And as the book says, he doomed his fans to wearing turtlenecks in July, as the wicked winds tore threw that park.

My dad still maintains that if they had a better park than the Stick, Mays could’ve broke the Home Run record, as he would have done if they stayed in the Polo Grounds.

Welcome back, Brazoban! GO DODGERS

Yeah Braz is Back!!!!

BOOOOO Tsao is hurt!!!*%$^*^^%$ &*(%#&( #@$$#!^ ()*%$%

That ***** bigtime!

Well thats baseball and atleast Braz has been lighting up the AAA Hitters what is it 2 walks and 13 K’s with a 1.3 or 1.8 era?I saw he threw 1.2 inns lastnight.

Hope Tsao isn’t anything really serious. Thanks Josh for the heads up!

Is there any truth to the trade talk regarding James Loney? Apparently on Dodger Talk they discussed how they aren’t planning to promote Loney and are waiting to put him in a trade package.

I heard that too, Bob Harvey basically said that he heard from a source high up in the organization that unless Nomar gets injured they do not plan on calling Loney up until September and if the right deal came along would package Loney in a deal. Now of course it’s May and it’s pure speculation, so I don’t think anything of it. There’s no reason to trade Loney, sure he handled being sent down in April the wrong way, but to trade him would be a major mistake because if we do and Nomar gets hurt, we’re royally screwed at first base long term. My major problem is they wanted Loney to go to AAA to learn to develop his power, that’s fine but our current 1st baseman is on pace for 4 HR’s. Now freakin take this series from the Beer team.

Go Dodgers!

Ain’t that the truth about Nomar.

In fact our big offensive stud at First Base has scored 13 runs in 175 AB’s…

LaRoche the scrub who was given just a half-hearted shot at playing has scored 8 runs in 30 AB’s…

Sure Nomar has knocked in some runs, but overall is numbers are putrid for a corner infielder…

Anyone think Coletti is working on a trade for Miguel Cabrera that will include a short reliever (Brazoban or Broxton or Saito), one of the “third basemen” just brought up (Abreu or LaRoche) and one of the hitters in Las Vegas (Kemp or Loney), and he is both showing some of them off and evaluating which to keep?

In a word, no, but it’s fun to speculate

If we could get Miggy Cabrera for LaRoche, Loney, Brazoban, and Kuo I would do it. I love Miggy.

loney won’t go b/c he’s the only insurance we have for nomar…unless kent slides over the 1st. Not that Nomar’s bat has been anything special, but think about it, if he goes down and we’ve dealt Loney…we’ll have to put Kent at 1st.

I still think we need an outfielder who can hit more than we need a 3b that can hit.

I’m just going to keep my faith in the fact that Ned says he makes his decisions with a lot of input from the people around him. The suspense of whether a few moves lead to a huge move or whether it was done because of schedule considerations. It’s fun :)

Is it possible we can option Grady little to Japan for “sume yung gy”?

I’d love to address this the following;

“I heard that too, Bob Harvey basically said that he heard from a source high up in the organization that unless Nomar gets injured they do not plan on calling Loney up until September and if the right deal came along would package Loney in a deal. Now of course it’s May and it’s pure speculation, so I don’t think anything of it. With all due respect, it is appearent you and allot of the Dodger Org are not “Baseball men”

Looney is ready, Looney was promised the job, YOU DONT EVER SCREW WITH A YOUNG PLAYERS HEAD EVER!! it is how you RUIN THEM. I hope they do trade Looney, and he becomes the 320+ hitter I know he will be and hits 500 against the Dodgers!!

The answer is easy, Move Nomar to 3rd. strong arm+ quick hands eqautes to? wasnt Nomar an all-star SS at one time? Isnt first base a hot corner? DOESNT NOMAR HAVE A GREAT ARM? Getting the picture yet?

In the process, dump the world’s worst manager Grady Little.

Players in the minors, especially when you have a good farm, are brought up WHEN THEY ARE READY PERIOD!!

Good baseball men understand this. Bad ones like Grady (who has the final say in roster moves not the GM) never understand this.

You make room for them, YOU DONT SIGN 40 YEAR players to fill a roster spot. If the rookie does not pan out, then you can consider making a trade.

Little is a *****, anyone who hears him talk should be able to glean this.

Grady was a terrible manager at Boston, guy should be banished from baseball,( they were demanding his removal long before pedrogate) Instead, this moronic organization gives him a contract extension.

Mr. Mccourt, EITHER learn baseball or sell the team please. YOU ARE RUINING my team!!

Anyone who thinks the Dodgers will ever win anything with Grady need their heads examined. He is a loser when it counts, and he always will be. He does not have the mental fortitude to mangage a big league team PERIOD!!

now go watch and see him find a way each and every night to give his team THE WORST CHANCE TO WIN ( good managers give their teams the best chance to win a game)

The majority of baseball games are 1 and 2 run games. The difference between a good manager and a horrendus one like Little MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!

When Brazoban came from the Yankees they said he had a golden arm. He had some very good outtings for the Dodgers, setting up Gagne. He look tonight. Good luck Brazo.

In that last line I meant to say that he looked good tonight, I liked his performance in the 9th.

Delweine pretty much hit the nail on the head. Loney should be starting at 1st and Nomar who should not have been resigned should be moved to 3rd. And yes, this will never be a top drawer team with Little as manager.

I think the Loney/Nomar situation will take care of itself before the season ends, but I don’t think Little is going anywhere.
