Good luck making a move in the next 3 hours.

I’m surprised Grady has 3 leftys in order in the lineup, but I still like the lineup. Go beat Washington.

  2. interpol2424@yahoo.com

great to see Loney in there, I’m eager to see how he approches hitting 2nd time around, why is hall in there!? (sunday line up for Grady I guess)

  3. euhlman@bwr.eastlink.ca

What could the move be? Maybe Nomar to the DL retroactively with Loney on board? Yankees apparently are interested in Ledee. Maybe for a minor leaguer. Maybe Cruz DFA. Maybe another two for one trade. Interesting times for GM’s.

It appears Hall is Hendrickson’s personal catcher. I thought only good pitchers got personal catchers.

This looks like an interesting lineup. I’m looking forward to seeing Betemit.

I see Aybar is also making his debut with the Braves today……as their leadoff hitter. Best of luck to him.

pellam – That’s not as harsh as what Dave Stewart said, but still kinda harsh.

It’s mostly about how well they work together, though, and since Martin didn’t get to work with Hendrickson in spring training, Hall gets the starts. At least it means that Grady will actually rest Russell Martin.

Watching Yankee game. Bobby Abreu just pulled from Philly lineup and is apparently going to NY. presstelegram.com reports Dodgers after Tejeda or Soriano.

I trully hope Ned dosn’t trade our true prospects for some rentals, I swear I’ll bust a fit bigger than anything ever. :o)

  9. euhlman@bwr.eastlink.ca

Tejada would not be a rental. Three years to go on a very costly contract ($13M/yr.) Would be costly on prospects. Soriano a free agent at the end of the season and wants a no trade contract somewhere so would likely be a rental. Maddux also a rental. Holding my breath as I love the prospects. Concerned about LaRoche now with Betemit on board. I hope Ned continues to build with young prospects and young additions like Betemit. Dodger fortunes with high cost free agents have not been very good. They aren’t good for most teams.

Willie just knocked in ATL’s 1st couple runs against Mets, by the way NYM have a ferocious lineup. This Betemit kid better live up to his potential, because I get the feeling Willie could be playing 3rd with the Braves for a long time. Also what does this move do to LaRoche’s progress, their must be a trade in the works. Yanks don’t want Ledee anymore, they got Abreu. We are gonna have to part with a prospect to get anything in return, and looking at Ned’s track record with trading future star’s, I’m gettin a little nervous. I think Loney is getting showcased right now, as is Izturis. Repko should be in right, especially since Drew is due for his weekly rest. But then again Repko might need a rest too with that sore ankle. Today’s game will be very interesting, we’ll get a look at a couple different guys(Loney, Betemit, and even Mark), also let’s see if our boys can show some killer instinct and finish off the Nats. Let’s head to Cincy with 3 straight under our belt, Ortiz is very hittable, especially on the road. On another note, Tommy looked great yesterday at the park. It’s always good to see him around Chavez Ravine. Go Big Blue!!! One game at a time…..

I’m in Kauai on vacation and get no covereage at all on TV or Radio, thank god for the internet !! I have to agree with you on this one Interpol !! I won’t be very please either if Ned trades the farm for either one of these guys. How about getting Nevin from the Cubs, he can catch, play 3B or 1B and he’s got a big bat and I know for a fact that he’d do anything to be a Dodger. Bigger contract then one would like but I bet the Cubs would eat some of that. I really like the fact that Grady is getting Broxton some experience in closing, I think it’s his future. Saito has been great but doesn’t really fit the closer role, he should be the setup guy. Tomko could be the new hero, time will tell. I love seeing Looney in the lineup instead of Senez, he’s too important as a PH.

    Keep the faith guys !!

    Go Dodgers !!!

Don Sutton speaks very highly of Betemit. Don is not prone to praise where it is not due. His comments indicated that he felt Betemit was just waiting for a full time spot and would be very productive. Glad Aybar got a good start today. Here I am watching the Yankee game and the Braves game is on so I can watch Aybar. Sorry I missed his hit.

  13. dreed209@yahoo.com

When we consider that Betemit can play any of the infield spots, maybe he won’t be blocking LaRoche after all.

  14. kssparkuhl@msn.com

I’ve been out of town and haven’t been able to comment on the boards until now.

I love the Betemit trade. Someone suggested that we got taken in the deal. Absolutely not. Betemit is a gamer and has a good glove at third base, something we’d be holding our breath with every time Aybar had a ball hit to him. Sending Baez away was a great move, but I’d still love to have Duaner Sanchez in our bullpen. With Seo gone it makes me wonder, but at least Ned corrects his mistakes… which is something the last guy would never do.

So yeah… Hall is catching again today. It makes sense to me to sit one of your hottest hitters right now… with a day off tomorrow that he could have used as his rest day… but no. Hall would have cried if he had to sit today. It does seem that Hendrickson has his own personal catcher these days… one that doesn’t know his true roll and earn his way up on a contending team.

Speaking of rests… why isn’t JD Drew resting today with Repko in his place? Seems JD needs the most “rest” days of all the players. I’ll miss Repko and Martin in this lineup.

And since when did it become okay to have a full blown beard on the Los Angeles Dodgers? The mountain man look that Hendrickson sports needs to go… or at least until he can prove himself as a winner.

Lastly, I’m one that hopes that Cruz Jr. is sent packing today. He’s a good man, but I can’t see him helping this team now or in the future. Best of luck Jose… someone will pick you up.

Let’s get the sweep and then prove we can beat a winning team on the road in Cincy!

Betemit is now the tallest Dodger infielder. The Betemit, Hendrickson, and Lofton acquisitions will go a long way towards making the Dodgers a better basketball team.

  16. euhlman@bwr.eastlink.ca

The Atlantic broadcast team have been assessing the trade. They think that the Braves feel that Betemit and Aybar are about even up with Betemit ahead in his development now. They think the Braves feel that Baez can regain his closer ability as he had in Tampa and is the key to the trade. That would make Schuerholz the shrewd GM again, in their minds. I think Ned did what he had to do as Baez didn’t work out as his backup closer. Broxton is beginning his closer journey now. Gagne is too much of a risk for a big salary next year.

  17. euhlman@bwr.eastlink.ca

Yes I really hope Eric regains his status as a top line closer. Being a Canadian and a Dodger fan I love Canadians in the big leagues and especially on the Dodgers. Not spoken too well but I don’t think the team will pay the large salary unless they see he is 100% and he is a free agent this year. I don’t think time will be on their side in making a decision. Not sure of timing but don’t think they can wait until after spring training to decide. Willie Aybar just got his third hit.

  18. patriotacts425@comcast.net

I would really like to see Gagne get a Nomar deal next year, moderate salary with incentives for more money if he stays healthy. Maybe we should structure it so he is rewarded if he doesn’t come back too early from injuries . . .

  19. euhlman@bwr.eastlink.ca

Good idea. He certainly is a Dodger and popular one. Coming back too soon seemed to be a concern. I expect such a plan would depend on what Eric decides, that is, if he is willing to sign such a contract or pursue free agency. I think he would like to stay with the Dodgers.

  20. fliegel@ptd.net

I think the problem with Aybar was that Grady didn’t like him ,or trust him in the field. I’m sorry to see him go ,and feel he’ll do good under Bobby Cox. I would have rathered see Grady go! That being said , I do like Betemit and feel he’ll help the club, that is if Grady plays him.

  21. griffon64@webmail.co.za

Well team, you know what to do. There’s still a lot of hole to get out of, so don’t let two wins against the 3rd worst team in the league go to your heads. Play well.

  22. dreed209@yahoo.com

Atta a boy, Jose. Good for you. Let’s get this one boys, we got Wash. on their heels. 3 at Cincy, 3 at Fla, we can take 4 outta 6 easily and get right back into this thing. But today’s game is important, momentum wise. A loss would be a minor setback, a W and a sweep could do wonders for our confidence. C’mon Big Blue.

  23. fisher928@yahoo.com

Atta Boy Izzy seeing eye double works everytime. BIG ATTA BOY bullpen!Big Broom to Take to Cincity don’t forget to bring the Good bats this time!Go Blue.
