So Aybar makes a couple of mistakes and sits for the next two weeks? Is that going to be the deal?

Also, Cruz instead of Ethier? I thought we brought up the young players to play, not sit on the bench.

Anyways, I guess its not my job to make the lineups.

How about Nomar! I’d like to see him get the batting title this year. If he can stay healthy, the Dodgers would be wise to retain him.

Also note what else he has in common with Pujols – he has not committed an error.

Aybar and Ethier are getting their chances, they haven’t proven they are every day players yet. They are playing the majority of games at this point, and you have to love Saenz bat in the lineup every once and a while.

Just a thought regarding Baez — I dont have a problem with Little staying with him as closer, but when things aren’t going well he needs to at least have somebody warming up in the bullpen. I was at the game Saturday and it was so obvious it was slipping away from us and Baez couldn’t get the job done, yet Grady didn’t even have anyone warming up! Dont leave the wounded dog out there, if he’s not getting the job done pull him!

Tomko from what I’ve read dons’t have a good record nor e.r.a. in Coors Field let’s hope with a change of uni his luck changes.

Go Dodgers!

I think Grady’s lineup makes a lot of sense !! It’s Coors field, Tomko allows a lot of fly balls and the scores are aways higher. History tells us we’ll need at least 6 runs or better. A strong proven bat in Saenz and a vetern switch hitter in Cruz makes total sense !!
Go Dodgers !!!

Second Inning and Cruz hits a solo HR to even the score. So far looks like a good decision Grady !!

Good win tonight at Coors Canveral! Saito’s slider was absolutely nasty, and Tomko was brilliant again. The Dodgers are tied for the lead in runs scored in the NL! Imagine if we keep hitting like this and bullpen solidifies… oh my!

Bottom line NPurcell, Cruz is a much more experienced hitter and has been very successful in the past. He’s hitting .318 in his past 10 games, and his average continues to climb. Ethier is the future this is true, but we don’t want to see HIS average continue to fall and have his confidence take a beating. Once confidence is established in a player, it’s all over for the opposing pitchers. Ethier will get his playing time with only four outfielders.

Well put kssparkuhl. We needed every one of those 5 runs tonight !! I like this guy Saito !! Normally I would worry about a breaking ball pitcher in Colo., but I still remember the Nomo NO NO at Coors !! It can be done !!
Go Dodgers !!

“Ethier is the future this is true, but we don’t want to see HIS average continue to fall and have his confidence take a beating. Once confidence is established in a player, it’s all over for the opposing pitchers.”

Your situation is a Catch 22 there. How can he gain confidence when he doesnt get ABs? Seriously, if you are not going to let him bat in the lineup in coors field, against a below average pitcher in Fogg, when do you play him?

So far, Little has done a good job of playing the young players, I hope he continues that and this was just an isolate incident and not a reflection of his true motives and managing style.

“A strong proven bat in Saenz and a vetern switch hitter in Cruz makes total sense !!”

Saenz looked tired today, I’m sure Little saw this & will give Saenz I deserved day off, Aybar tomorrow?

Good debate guys, I just like the “W”, lets do it again !! I don’t care who plays as long as they win !!
Go Dodgers !!!

Denver makes or breaks a visiting team. It can get out of control and start teams down an ugly road. Lets at least take one more and come home feeling good !!

Perhaps we’ll be seeing Ceasar Izturis and Rafael Furcal on the left side of the infield together. It wouldn’t be too far out of the question you know. But who would you rather see play third base? I think Furcal would be better suited for that job.

I really won’t like seeing Izturis sitting on the bench just because he got hurt. I seem to remember an unwritten rule about star players not losing their job to injuries once healthy again, and there’s no reason to suspect that Izzy won’t be the same player he was before. The TJ surgery will actually make an arm stronger for a pitcher. I can only assume then that for a shortstop it will only bring new life to an arm that won’t have to throw as often as a pitcher would… so he should be as good as new.

Furcal should be the odd man out here, not Izzy. He’s a Dodger farm product and a loyal team player. Give him a chance to keep his position. Bring back Izturis!!

Izzy’s problem is progressive which is why they’ll try to lower the stress rather then throwing from the left side. I think he’s slated for second !! Furcal at SS is here to stay, $39 mil is too much to eat or make unhappy !! The problem I see is asking either Kent or Nomar to switch to the outfield. One other option is Nomar going to 3B and Kent going to 1B. Nomar played 3B for the Cubs and he’s strong with a great arm !!! Just think of the speed on the bags with Furcal, Izzy, Lofton and Repko !!!

Hail Cesar! (You knew that was coming)

I will point out actually that Izturis was not a Dodger farm product, but actually a Blue Jay. In fact, sending him to LA has been regarded in Toronto as one of their worst trades ever, no Pedro for Delino, but maybe a Konerko for Shaw.

As for you garysmith I have two words: Alex Rodriguez.

Furcal might be well-suited to move around in the field. I actually thought they’d give him a day in the outfield sometime since they only have 4 outfielders with the club while Repko’s on the DL (has there been any thought to that?). He was brought over to fill the hole for Izturis, but mainly for his leadoff bat (although he does hit better with runners on). Correct me if I’m wrong, but Grady seems to realize that he doesn’t know everything about this club and these players, and keeps an open mind to changing assignments. I expect Izturis to start at short as soon as he’s up, and after Grady is impressed, he’ll talk with Furcal about being the floating leadoff man, then call Bud Selig and demand that the Dodgers become and American League team so he can have a DH.

If anything, Cesar Izturis should at least be Derek Lowe’s personal shortstop; Lowe needs all the defense he can get behind him.

Furcal should be the odd man out here, not Izzy. He’s a Dodger farm product and a loyal team player. Give him a chance to keep his position. Bring back Izturis!!

Izzy is the man I really have alot of confidence in him but actually he is another one we got from Toronto B-Jays. What I really miss is the Cora Izzy middle field Magic but i get over really quick when Kent Belts another dinger.

Hows this for a stat catagory Cather ERA and W/L. I was poking through it tonight and Russ Martin is Like 8-1 as a starting Catcher where Navarro was 11-9 and our “veteran mentor” catcher alomar only has 1 win to his starting catcher role even with his .351 BA. I think Martin is our Backstop Man.I think Aybay still needs some defensive work at 3rd and Hope we the Gagne of 03/04 back.I’m really happy with the rotation and with Biemel, Saito and Broxton.Perez can stay as a long relief or go elsewhere IMHO and I think the pitching staff needs to be reduced anyways too many pitchers Hamulack and Osoria need to go down Sele is my #4/5 man and he seems to want it. Bottom line for me is Pen or Trade perez (He’s such a Whiner) Trade Alomar (sorry sandy but the kids are kickin butt)Get Repko Healthy again and Play Him off days through all Fields especially for Lofton; keep him healthy and fast Great for pinch running and DH. Third base is still a problem area for my ideal lineup as izzy is still on the heal and furcal well… and mueller we’ll see how he rebounds his hitting was really stinking as bad as his fielding when he went on the dl.Saenz looked crappy tonight Hope hes ok we really need him to be sharp off the bench and especially come Sept and October!Getting really tired of rooting for other teams to beat the Yanks and Sox.

“Furcal should be the odd man out here, not Izzy. He’s a Dodger farm product and a loyal team player. Give him a chance to keep his position. Bring back Izturis!!”

My bad guys… I remember the deal now. And good point Fisher: I’m fairly certain that Grady will have a tough decision to make when Navarro’s healed. It’s hard to overlook how the team has played so well and the fact it coincides with the arrival of Russ Martin. We’ll see how the league starts pitching him, but really, even if he hits .250, we need his tools behind the plate. Now if we can only hold onto THIS catcher. Apologies to Piazza and LoDuca…

Did we REALLY trade Mike Piazza in 1998??? He’s been away from the Dodgers longer than we had his services. Amazing…

Furcal has made a grip of errors already. I want to see IZZY at SS. But I don’t think it will happen, Furcal will cry like a baby. Ned really should have done more research on the team. The Duaner Sanchez trade was horrific. Duaner had a .41 ERA in 22 innings last time I checked… and he is very young.
I do like the rest of his free agent signings though. Nomar is LIGHTS OUT!

I think we should play saenz as a starter, bring back oscar robles!!!!
